Port CyanogenMod to Samsung Galsxy E5 (SM-E500M) - Galaxy E5, E7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As far as I know there is no lollipop rom for samsung E5 (M variation).
There are some recoveries created by jackeagle for H variation that works on the M variation.
All I want is to gather people to start developing CyanogenMod on this devices.
The problem is that i am new at porting devices. I just want to know if somebody is interested on helping me to port the device.
I ran some test and succesfully created a Recovery for M variation with the source for rutvik95 on github.
Anybody interested on help?

I think we could work it through github. I made a group: https://github.com/E5-CyanogenMod
I give my email for faster comunication: [email protected]

OK add me to the group and add kernel for SM-E500F its the dual sim version I will upload the device tree. first we work one single sim SM-E500M and then to other variants.

I have no idea how to port a ROM, but I'm glad someone is up to the task. But I do want to help, perhaps I could be a tester.
In any case, keep up the good work.

Actually there no need of separate things for E500M variant. the difference between E500H and E500M is Dual/Single Sim and LTE.
That is the reason why even recovery works on M which was made of E500H.
So with E500H i will eventually add E500M too and hence no need of any such separate cm development for e500m its just waste of time!

Isn't there any development fo SM-G361F??

Hi people. Am so sorry if i am posting this on wrong section.
All i see is 360H stuff. Does anybody have a cm12.1 or cm13 or whatever other rom and twrp for coreprime g361f?
I really want one. Also what i want to know is that is there any development for this variant?
And why do they only support the 360H edition. What is different from the 361f? Does it not have 4G?

Is there a good rom with minimal bugs available for samsung j500h?

Hi Good people of XDA, i'm just wondering if there is any available custom rom for j500h, a pre-rooted marshmallow rom would be good, I search a few but the roms for j500h always has a problem with wifi connectivity, and there's no available fix yet. I hope you can recommend good roms for me. Especially my fellow j500h users out there Hi guys
Thank you so much and God Bless us all

I'm using latest cm12.1 since some time and it's a badass. Phone never lagged & has more free ram. The only bug is that FM-Radio is not working and I think some guy said that SpiritFM is working.
In latest release, some people reported random reboot. You can fix it manually. In your case, having J500H, just flash the provided zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69375277&postcount=334 .
I'm using latest release on my J500FN and fixed it manually and didn't have any problem.
Nick doesn't have enough space on his PC to have both sources (cm12 and cm13) to build and today I'm gonna build cm12.1 from source for J500FN with the manually fix included (Nick Verse done this) and I will try to include JustArchi optimizations (Google it) which are supposed to make phone faster. I don't know if phone will boot with these optimisations and lack knowledge, but Google and Nick might help me If everything goes right, then i will build for the other mofels too. So, it's your choice if you'll wait.
Also, I'm planning to build more ROMS based on 5.1.1 like RR, Vanir, SlimLP / SlimSaber for all J5 models ( I will need Nick help to figure out how to make it for all models from sources).

Requirement of Paranoid Android Rom (AOSPA) for Moto G4 Plus

Hello everyone, the Paranoid Android (AOSPA) team has released their much awaited nougat 7.1.2 build for a handful of devices. Is it possible for the developers to port the rom to our Moto G4 Plus? If so, when can we expect to receive an official AOSPA rom for our device i.e Moto G4 Plus? Thanks in advance to the developers.
Athene is a pretty popular choice around ROMing. (LineageOS has 20795 installs on Athene) I would at least expect an unofficial build made by someone. Let's just hope they release an official build for Athene.
I have come to know that the team officially doesn't provide support for too many devices except Oneplus, Oppo, Pixel and the Nexus ones. So the chance of getting an official build is less. So in that case we have to look for an unofficial build.
Just wondering is there any update on Aospa for athene, official or unofficial?
:good:
Maybe this mean something. I dont know.

The device is old and dead. The processor won't support any more future OS versions. Even Nougat couldn't be stable too. Better get a new device if you want to enjoy development.
If u think so bro then i cant say anything.
Nougat will be stable soon because mt6582 Kernel 3.4.67 Already able to boot Nougat
Stable rom depends on the rom you port so if ur rom is already buggy then u cant do anything
Only way is to build from source but thats need kernel source which is missing for a120

Porting miui 8 for moto x play

Dear mxp users there are many other ROMs available for our device except but the Chinese ROMs.Flyme os is there for mxp but it doesn't have volte. I'm not a developer but I would like to try porting miui for our device instead of waiting for someone to port someday. I am a newbie and if anyone is interested in this porting then we can work together and make this port.
The similar phone next to Mi4i that has the same CPU(SD615) of our mxp is micromax yu yureka plus.It also has the same resolution and the ROM has volte. This is the reason why I chose yu yueka plus over Mi4i.
The custom ROM that has volte and Chinese ROM for yu yureka plus is in the link below,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/yu...chrom-miui-8-marshmallow-yureka-t3609071/amp/
I tried porting it today but it failed.
I request you guys to help me with this porting process.
The base ROM I used for porting is
Spectrum MM Volte
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/development/rom-spetrum-mm-volte-t3462690/amp/
Also tell me whether this port is applicable for our device.
Thankyou.
I'm not a developer myself, but I would love to see MIUI ported to our device. Would definitely go out testing it.

yu yureka would fail since it has a 64bit architecture where as this device has a 32 bit one. You're better off trying with Mi4i since the architecture is the same. But I suggest you do it the using the patch rom method since porting rom from another device can get really messy.
Here is a guide: http://en.miui.com/thread-9630-1-1.html
Note: It is not an easy and quick process. You're have to learn about resolving rejects. I tried doing it once, there were a ton of rejects. I resolved around half of them until I grew tired of doing so. So I gave up on it completely, so just a heads up. You need to have a lot of patience.

Yes of course. If you know what you're doing. Even if you fail to preserve VoLTE, you could always create a patch.

The SoC on this device is 64 bit but the firmware is 32 bit because Motorola is super retarded whereas the YU device has firmware which is also 64 bit. It's really hard to port a natively 32 bit device to 64 bit.
