[LG-H901] Stock Images, Device Restore - T-Mobile LG V10 Android Development

I made a flashable zip of the images @TheJesus posted. This will make it easier to go back to stock to take ota's or whatever. Just flash the zip in TWRP then fastboot flash the stock recovery. This zip can also get you out of a jam provided you have it on your SD.

You're welcome buddy. I knew it would come in handy.

This saved me arse, mate! Thanks a lart! Cheers!

Thank you! Life saver !

I edited build pro and messed up my phone this save my life thanks!!

I had to get 10 posts before I could thank you, but I'm in debt; I soft-bricked my phone yesterday night, panicked for about 30 minutes because adb wouldn't connect with my phone, Lg restore tool is a complete joke, and literally so little is posted about this phone, and I literally thought to myself "I now have a $700 paperweight that T-mobile wont replace because I rooted/Unlocked bootloader." Good thing TWRP was still accessible so I used this to restore my phone, so thank you SO MUCH from saving me from an inevitable meltdown at 3AM trying to frantically fix my phone. LmaO

ok flashed device and now the lg logo is stuck and wont move after that?

Can you explain in detail what you did?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2

Got it to work thank u

Thanks for this. Is is necessary to reflash the stock recovery after flashing this? Or will TWRP still work if I had it installed before I flashed?

Twrp will still work.

If we do this, will they know the phone was flashed before? Just trying to avoid rooting, but I really want my data so want to know if there is a way out.

lesson learned

Thanks anyway for the help @Warrior1975. Just reading all the threads from beginning to end. Seeing all your questions for help throughout the threads has helped me in return when someone answers your question and helps

Flash stock recovery?

Hello! I have TWRP installed on my device without root or custom rom/kernel. Is there a way I can just flash the stock recovery to get future OTA updates? I prefer using a method that doesnt require admin rights on my pc, because I am not using my own pc for the moment.
You can get the factory image, extract ALL the zips and when you find the recovery image do "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".

That's the problem. Efrant says you have to use 7zip and not any other thing to extract the image, but I cant install it because I dont have admin rights on this pc.
You can use Flashify from Play Store to flash recovery images without PC.

Thanks! It's the one for 4.3 right?
And if I want to install a custom rom, and make a twrp backup. Can I then go back to restore the backup and then just flash this recovery in fastboot to get the OTA?

You can use Flashify to make a backup, restore and flash.
Remember you can only flash 3 times a day unless you pay for the full version.

No I mean making a backup in twrp, install a custom rom. New version of android comes out: (let's say 5.0 because updating CM for example from 4.3. to 4.3.1 isnt that hard I think), just restore the backup and flash this recovery in fastboot. (without flashify)
Then I will get the OTA?

Vs980 twrp
Just to clarify, the fix for the broken VS980 TWRP .zip first appeared in the official cyanogenmod nightlies thread, and it was suggested that one should first achieve a working TWRP 2.6.3.2 recovery first, then use it to flash the fixed recovery .zip to update to version 2.6.3.3 (it seems to "upgrade" the previous recovery rather than flash itself in entirety.)
However this may be wrong... I personally already had TWRP 2.6.3.2 installed so I went ahead and used the fixed .zip without a hitch, but it seems like kregstrong had no issues flashing from cwm.
OK think I fixed it. Try now. Sorry. Couldn't find the original link for it

4.4.3 coming this week

Time to start prepping for an OTA. Memory serves, you need stock bootloader, remove root, and xposed to be able to take the OTA. Sound right??
http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-pushing-android-443-week
Stock ATT 4.4.2 (165.44.1)
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted via SuperSU flashable
TWRP 2.7.0.0

Based on the past OTA's....
Yes stock recovery is needed, but you don't need to remove root, xposed can be disabled, you need your bloat on there..
For more, see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html
Oh, and for anyone who had 4.4.2 on their phone, then partially downgraded (i.e. flashed only parts like system.img, etc from an older rom) successfully, taking the OTA now will likely brick you.
I SBF'd to 4.4.2 I'm rooted, have Phil's recovery but no xposed. Unlocked boot loader Dev edition
Based on your post I have two options.
1. SBF the stock recovery and take the update.
2. Wait till the sbf for 4.4.3 to drop and flash that.
Please confirm or let me know if I'm wrong and if there are any other options, do share please.
Great news. I only want slightly better battery life and better camera.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm running the soak test right now. Smooth sailing so far. I used rsd lite to flash the sbf file and everything went fine
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
Will someone release this as something we can flash later or is the only way to get it via OTA? Also, if it is released on here later about how long would it take?
T-Mobile/Unlocked only right now it seems. Which is fine.
AT&T, Verizon and Sprint probably have to wait a bit.
i'm ready. got stock recovery ready to go. just gotta flash my own 4.4.2 dump back on there and i'm good to go

Find your carrier and the Android version you want the recover.img file will be in the .zip
Also, does anybody know if a custom kernel (specifically the faux kernel 007) will interfere with an OTA? If so, where can I find the stock 4.4.2 kernel?

Q: Anyone know I can root without PC?

NO PC RECOVERY FLASHING METHOD
As always flash at your own risk. I am not responsible for what you do to your device.
So Santod040 took the time to help me figure this out and the method for flashing recovery WITHOUT a PC can be found posted below. Once you have recovery flashed you can root the device.
Update: See this method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68101276
Make sure to place it on your external SD card and rename it after the flash is completed.

You should be able to install custom recovery TWRP from phone, using I think it's called flashify
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349847
Then you just download SuperSU and flash in TWRP, I do believe.
I'm on custom ROM, so hopefully others can chime in before you take this advice.

I don't understand the issue. There is a very clear guide on how to root here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/guide-how-to-root-pure-style-t3503958. I was able to install TWRP and root with relative ease. The hardest part is just making sure you read for the details.
I successfully downgraded from marshmallow to lollipop and unlocked bootloader installed TWRP and rooted, then bypassed the factory reset protection so I could log in to Google on the set up screen.
