[REQUEST] Find 5 (X909) Root Method for Android 4.4.x and above - Oppo Find 5

Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble getting root on my Oppo Find 5 ever since I switched to cROMs based on Android 4.4.x or higher.
Until 4.2.x Framaroot apk did the trick for me, but it doesn't seem to work on the newer versions anymore. Right now, I'm using MIUI v7 (Android 4.4.4) and I'm pretty happy with it, but I hate not having root and I can't find anything useful online. Most English threads are from way back where .zip downloads are down already and/or the info is terribly outdated.
Did anyone find a method to root their X909 on Android 4.4.x and above?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Go to security app in MIUI and go to permissions => Root acces.

It only says that no apps have root permission. Does MIUI have a built-in root access? The Security stuff seems to me like a root manager only, similar to SuperSU and Superuser.
I also downloaded Root Check for whatever it is worth and it says my device is not rooted.
edit: I just checked some other threads and apparently developer versions of MIUI have built-in root access. My X909 is currently running the ported ROM by wuxianlin000000 though. I'm not sure if it's supposed to have root as well.
I tried starting Titanium Backup in hopes of getting a root access request, but it just showed an info box that no root access could be acquired.

I'm running the same rom and I have root acces. Dont know how I enabled it but it wasn't anything I had to flash and pretty sure it was something in settings. Try checking security app root options again and grant root acces to the apps that are listed.

I think I'm going to reinstall once again to see if it fixes anything (doesn't bother me that much since I wanted to try LVM installation anyway). Are prerooted cROMs the norm after 4.2.x? Else, I'd still really like to know a root method that works regardless of the ROM.

Short update:
I don't know why but MIUIs root worked when I checked again today. I don't know why, but beforehand there were no "requests" from apps shown under Security > Permissions > Root access. Today, however *something* (I really have no clue what) apparently changed and apps requesting root access are shown and I can grant them access.

[Q] root htc hd2 android HELP PLEASE

hi everybodye sorry for the question but im new on this, well i have a htc hd2 from tmobile, i install android nand, following directions of a forum from here, everything is working good, i install setcpu from market and it do not let me configure it,so i install root check and it said is NOT rooted, my question is how can i root my phone,, please help.. thanx a lot and sorry if my question is stupid for some of you guys
As long as you have hspl you should be rooted. I would check to make sure you have setcpu superuser permission
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
thanx so much for you answer and not make fun of me, well yes i installed hspl3, and when it done it said we hack it, but root checker still say, sorry you dont have root access can you please tell me how to check superuser permission, thanx so much,,
Look in your app tray and see if you have a Superuser icon. If you do then ckick in it and then find where it says allow superuser access. Most Andriod ROMs for tbe HD2 are already rooted when you install them. If you do not have a Superuser icon then Google "z4root" it is a one click root app that works. You will have to dowmload it unzip/extract the apk and copy it to your SD card and then use a file manager to navigate to the apk file and open it this will install the app to your phone. This is also what is known as "sideloading" in Andriod. Open the app and click on Root now button and it will root your phone.
Using a cpu overclock app has a downside as well as the upside of a faster response when in use.
The downside is that when downclocked and idle, the phone can take a couple of seconds to clock up to the operating speeds required - on some roms its more noticable than others. but a good solid ROM does not need this boost and there a few on here
please help
im having exactly the same problem doing my head in ,i installed a nand gingerbread rom that is faultless it cracked it and gave me a super user icon however the superuser never opens and when i install certain programmes they need root access and its saying my phone is not rooted ive checked with a rooting app and it says no root ive tried several methods that has not worked ie superoneclick gingerbreak nothing seems to work
any help would be appreciated
im not a novice ive flashed many devices etc cant seem to figure out why i havent got root though
^ try a different ROM
almost all are rooted already

[Q] Rooted my phone. How to secure?

I followed the rooting guide and rooted my new Nexus 4 phone. But when I looking for apps to install on a rooted phone, I stumbled upon a blog post that said that rooting is a huge security risk that allows any installed application to gain root privilege. Is this correct? Is there anything special that I must do to secure root access? I already have SuperSU (free) installed.
The simple answer is that you're already fairly secure with SuperSU or SuperUser. The reality is a bit more complicated though. SuperSU (and SuperUser) are designed to prompt you to provide access to any applications that request root. Any application that 1) does not request root access or 2) is denied root access by the user when prompted, will not have access to root privileges. In theory, I imagine an application could find some obscure exploit in the SuperSU code and get around the access blocking provided by SuperSU, but I think that is fairly unlikely and would be patched quickly after the exploit was found.
As long as you're careful about what you provide root access to (and only provide root access to apps that you think need root, not every app that you think you trust that asks for access) then you should be fine.

Thanks raptir. I have one more question. Now that I have rooted the phone, can I block the su binary and enable it only when I need to provide another application with root access? If I do that, will the already approved applications too loose root access?
You could completely unroot the phone which would require you to go through the rooting process again. You could also use a "temp unroot" option like Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper allows, but it wouldn't add anything to security since all it does is move the su binary, not disable it completely. A malicious app could still be written to move the binary back to the proper location.

You can go into SuperSU or SuperUser app and remove "root" access to any apps you have granted "root" to.

Actually, my question was not that. I wanted to retain root access for the apps that I have already given. But no new app should be able to get root access, so that a malicious app will not exploit any security vulnerability of SuperSU as raptir mentioned.

Gotcha! Any new app will ask for root permission. You can deny them.
Yeah, I threw that part in about the potential for an app to circumvent the security just as a disclaimer. As far as I know it has never happened, and it may not even be possible.

[Q] I dont have full root aces. Can you help me?

I have LG optimus one and Iam try new rom Omnirom beta 7 and beta 7.1. Iam saw ther isnt any superuser app and Iam try flash SuperSU (chainfire) and SuperUser (CloakWorkMod) with cwm recowery 6.4.0.6 and twrp 2.7.0.0.
Now I can run some apps like a total commander with superuser aces, Rom manager, but Iam style not can run titanium backup and lot of more. Sorry my English. Thanks for all reply.
Just FYI it is recommended to run twrp and su. Regarding you question: can you use the functionality that requires root in the apps you mentioned to be working? If not you simply have no su access at all. In case you can run them go into the su UI under settings and see if you can manually grant su permission to TiB and the like. It seems strange to me that super user should only work for some of your apps. I might be wrong though, I'm no expert.

[Q] Possible Half-Rooted device, or other problem?

Hello to everyone,
I own a Galaxy S5 G900F, (Unlocked Variant).
I have downloaded and installed LOLLIPOP AMBASADII.ODEX.V6.1 ROM with Aroma Installer and I am using Amplitude Kernel.
The rom came pre-rooted, with SuperSU Installed. I Only updated the app from the PlayStore. The program DID NOT prompt me for Binaries Update. I also have BusyBox installed.
When I check the root status with Root Checker, it says Success, which means there is root permission. Also, I checked it with Platinum Backup, and it also gives permission for root access. Finally, I downloaded a Root Browser, and that works fine as well.
The problem is with value-changing apps like game killer, game cih, haXplorer and game guardian. Although they prompt me to give permissions, and I chose "allow", none of them is able to work.
In game killer, it says "root privilage is needed"
In haXplorer, as soon as I open it is says "shutdown"
In game guardian, the program auto closes instantly.
All the above issues have to do with proper root Access.
So, how is it possible for programs like FX File Explorer (root), titanium (root), root checker and others to have root access, while others don't?
I would really like your answer on this, as I am trying for one week to solve this issue with no results.
Thank you.
Once you get root access, it is sytem wide, not by app.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah I know that, so what should be the problem?
Maybe you need an app to hide or cloak root status.
That such thing exists for Xposed framwork, but thus it is not comparible with 5.0 TW ROMs, you will have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 in order to use it.

Root MM on T810

Though it has been answered, I found the answer a little hard to find, so I thought I'd add this. I just installed the New Zealand version of MM on my T810 and to root it I used Odin to flash the CF-Auto-Root found here. Though is indicates it's for 5.0.1 it worked on 6.0.1. Had to install TWRP again through Odin as this reset "recovery". Now I have both root and TWRP with MM on my T810 and 5g wifi is seeing the U.S. channels.
All that is required is to flash the latest supersu with twrp.

Just googled "latest supersu". There were so many different links I couldn't count them all. Would it be asking too much that when you give advice like that that you actually give a link to the "latest supersu"?

Yes it would.
If I use "Odin to flash the CF-Auto-Root" will I lose all my apps and settings? I just updated to 6.0.1 mm with odin but now need to root.
Update: Nothing was lost!
Hi guys
I've just dit it but the result is not complete root. I can grant root acces to apps when supersu asks for it but this acces is not complete, even though it's supposed to. For example, any app can read wifi passwords right, even with permissions granted. Or another one, Solid Explorer can write on any folder on the sd card but Opera can't download to sd card... I guess it will be fixed sometime...
Thx anyway to anyone involved

That's nothing to do with root, those are app permission issues.
Those apps need to ask and be granted permission to write to storage.
If they don't request permission they won't get it, that's how mm works.
Apps that don't request aren't mm compatible.

Oops, I didn't know that ?. Thx for the answer ashyx.
By the way... Solid Explorer didn't ask for permissions, it's not in the supersu as a granted app but it is able to writte on any sd card folder. I Just give the info...

I don't mean supersu permissions.
Normal apps that want to write to storage will need permission to do so.
Go to app manager and look at the permissions for any app.

That's right. My mistake. The correct wifi passwords are hidden by Samsung. Opera though has the permission enabled but still can't write on th sd, I've just told them, let's see if they can do something about it. Thx ashyx
