ZUK Z1 with issues vs ZUK Z1 without issues - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so to determine the reasons behind some issues people are having, post where you purchased yours and if the box was totally sealed by a sticker and transparent plastic film or not.
We can also see if some of the shops were mentioned a lot.
I know some Chinese sellers put the COS rom on Chinese version of ZUK, so the box would be opened.
I bought mine on Gizchina shop.
The box was completely sealed and unopened.
I dont have any of the issues people are mentioning here.

Note that is absolutely easy to seal a box with a transparent film
Only some seals are granting the phone isn't opened since it leaves the factory...

In Italy, honorbuy.it
Box sealed and no issues

I know. I woud hope they are not being that dodgy.
I had a zuk sticker sealing the box and a plastic film.

In the UK via Amazon
Full sealed package
Having fingerprint lock issues
*****All fixed now. My own fault for not knowing what I was doing

That's sorted i see

Mine was sealed but when I opened it, there was a fingerprint on the homebutton. So either the box was was resealed or ZUK is testing the sensors on every phone.
I haven't discovered any issues yet, but I will wait with my vote a few days so I can check everything.

Box sealed (although it can be resealed and i wouldn't know the difference), bought from gizchina.
Until now no hardware issues. Overall very happy with the device. Only a strange software issue regarding the support of Greek characters (there is a letter missing and all the punctuated letters appear in bold). When i find the time i will create a new thread regarding this matter.
*SOLUTION THREAD CREATED*: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk...-character-t3346072/post66060967#post66060967
Its really strange because it appears to be a Cyanogen OS issue, and in my previous phone (i9082) i was running CyanogenMod 11 and had no problem whatsoever with the Greek alphabet.
The letter "ς" appears missing in all text sent or received (in all apps), and it's even missing from the keyboard (there is a blank spot instead).
Seems to be a font issue? If anyone has encountered something similar I'd love to hear some advice.

Hi guys i sold my Moto x2, so i want to buy a new phone, i see the specs of the Zuk Z1 and it's my first choice, it's worth it? or do you thing that it's better wait and go for de OnePLus 2?
Thanks.

Mine was sealed, bought on Amazon, offcial european model.
My issues so far:
- The first run came with ACCESIBILITY TALKBACK mode ON. it was horrible to have to doubleclick everything to set up the phone, and listen every text out loud.

geekbuying ..unsealed no issues

bought in Italy, from honorbuy.it
box was sealed and device is perfect, no issues at all.

I'm using oneplus 2 and zuk z1 simultaneously, just to try and figure out which one is better. It's been 2 weeks and I'm personally sort of forcing myself to like oneplus but I keep on going back to zuk. There is something in zuk that makes me feel really good when using it but the jury is still out. Only if the camera would be any better this would be an absolute no brainer !!!

when i am insert sim then it shows no service what i am doing?
plz any one help

Which slot? Have you checked both?

Horrible mobiles, worst customer service. Bought 2 weeks back, couldn't use for 10 days.
1. Shows multiple errors viz. UI stopped - at least 8-10 times a day
2. Hanging
3. Worst can't make or receive call as it goes into airplane mode, even when the mobile is NOT on airplane mode. While.making calls there's a display "turn of airplane mode to make a call", whereas Airplane mode is already OFF.
Sent online request for errors, received typical reply that we sell original handsets which covers warranty etc etc.
Then visited service center in Bombay. They simply run factory reset and asked to use mobile again.
Next day same problem, again went there, already 100's of frustrated customers were in que. This time they said they have to update the software, Next day again same issue.
Went again, now they kept it for 15 days, reason need to replace motherboard. Hellooooooo... how on the earth do u expect customers to be punished for your inefficiency? ?? If your QC is not done, then why sell such units??
The only good thing is camera n of course battery life... but what's the use if u can't use your mobile, for the purpose it is bought.
Our problem is that our Indian laws are so loose that such Chinese companies can fool us Indians easily n we can't take any action on them.
Hope the government will awake n do something and take some stringent action.

Display anomaly: problem with color reproduction

Hi...
So i bought the new galaxy s...the best screen of mobile phones at the moment, super amoled....is everything to me except "super" right now.
The phone is merely a month old. I bought it from some guy that sells phones without the bill but with valid warranty (seal+signature) because in my country (Croatia) it wasn't officially available when I was buying it (it is now)...
Everything was fine for a week or so, when one morning I turned it on (left it for recharge during night) and noticed that something is wrong with the display. It had a certain "mist" layer (similar to when you boost brightness too much) in the home screen and menus were different too. I couldn't tell what exactly happened until I opened a few dark HD pictures.
I realized that the phone isn't displaying colors correctly, or their depth or something.
It displays them as if someone messed with color depth in driver settings and set it to 16 or even 8-bit (default is 24 or 32-bit as far as I know).
I tried fully resetting the phone (by typing in the code for factory wipe+reset) but with no luck.
Then I called the guy that sold it to me and he wasn't very polite, saying that it can't be possible and that I must have messed with phone or dropped it or something, which I haven't, I even have a special case for it to avoid scratches, etc. Nevertheless, he told me to send it to him and I did.
I also wrote him a short message explaining what the problem is, and even told him to compare the display with the other new galaxy s and to lookup some dark pictures, because the anomaly is best seen there.
The phone was for 2 weeks at him, and he kept saying that everything is alright with the display, that he compared it with other phone, etc. and that he'll keep running some tests just to make sure. I said alright, didn't want to mess with his job.
Today I received the phone. You're guessing - he didn't fix anything but I paid postal charges alright.
Since he doesn't seem to know or care about my problem I'm asking you for some favors. I need pictured proof of my anomaly, which I will then send to him again in hope he'll finally understand the problem and do something about it.
What I'm asking from you is to take screen shots of your Galaxy S with these two pictures on the screen (when they open click on them to get full size):
1. http://img824.imageshack.us/f/14213741.jpg/
2. http://img819.imageshack.us/f/35743610.jpg/
Please, just make sure that the pictures are clear to see. You might need to turn off your lights and take a night shot with macro to capture the screen properly.
After you do that, just post the screens here. I will need those pics to send him the evidence.
These are my screen shots, take a look at the pictures and you will see what I mean:
The home screen. Artifacts can be seen:
The menus screen:
The gallery screenshot, even here you can see the color anomaly:
The second pic. Please compare this to the second link I gave above:
And yes, everything is alright with my digital camera, the picture just looks that awful on the phone's screen
The second pic when screen dims after 30sec (notice how it adds purple layer):
The first pic. Please compare this to the first link I gave above:
The first pic when screen dims after 30sec:
So there it is...
If some of you wise people know how to fix this problem without sending it again to that guy or voiding the warranty, please do tell me. I assume it has something to do with color depth or something, maybe somehow that setting changed, don't know how or why, maybe some software I installed triggered it although none of it was illegal or malicious in any way...I think...
Thank you in advance for any help and I appreciate your efforts for helping!
Have you flashed any new firmwares lately?
No, I'm afraid to get the warranty void, nor do I know which firmware to flash, how to do it and how to un-do it. I also don't know if serial numbers will change or something :|
Sorry
Don't be sorry. I was just asking because there have been reports that some of the 2.2 froyo firmwares had some similar issues, but I think that was mostly when watching films.
So you didn't do anything "new" when this happened? Installed an app, messed with phone settings etc?
I received an advice to go to video player and while playing a video go to settings. There are some color controls but it didn't help.
One more thing I didn't mention before, the color anomaly is present even when phone boots up or shuts down, when those logos spin, etc. For example, when it boots, the big shiny "S" also has this anomaly instead of being smooth as it was originally...
Here, I even recorded a video of the bootup, maybe you can see what I mean although my digital camera isn't intended for capturing video so it may not be the best quality :/
At 0:14 where purple color is, it isn't smooth, instead it looks like thick lines of purple...

Just take it to the closest Samsung Service Center for repair/replacement. Forget the dealer. If you have proper warranty papers there shouldn't be a problem.
Same thing happened to mine, bought directly from Vip, about one hour after turning it on. Returned it to the Vip center and got a new unit 2 days later.
In any case, the address of the authorized service center is somewhere on the eastern outskirts of Zagreb.
It's got warranty papers of that guy's company. I don't think it would be accepted by official Samsung service center because it's not the original Samsung warranty paper that is legitimate in every Samsung center. This guy owns a small cellphone service company, sells cellphones bought outside of Croatia and gives his own warranty on them. Who knows how he gets them, I just know he had Galaxy S far sooner than it appeared here officially. Thanks for the advice anyway...

Do you recommend to flash a new firmware? I've read guides and I can do it, I just need an advice which firmware to flash? Will it void the warranty?
Sorry for posting one post after another, but this is important. I found someone else with the same problem: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1520586
I don't think I'm gonna try flashing the firmware, I'll wait until monday to contact the warranty guy and ask for repair of the device or the replacement. I will also send him a link to this post, so if you can take your screenshots, now would be a good moment :/
Thanx
I'd do the shots but I've got nothing to take them with. Sorry.
In any case, a replacement is necessary. It's definitely a hardware fault and it appears to affect early units. My replacement device has a later manufacture date and a newer firmware than the first, dead one.

How do you know this, is there a link about this? Is it a known fault for early units? How do I know if my unit is an "early unit" ?
Wierd. You should definitely give Samsung a call. Your phone should be still under the manufacturers warranty. Hopefully they will replace the screen without any hassle.

I don't, sorry. I'm just guessing based on my experience and the fact that it happened to other people who bought the phones early on.
I just called the guy who gave me the "warranty" and they don't admit that there's a problem with the phone, instead I have to pay analysis at the official Samsung service center (approx. 10€) to get the official paper saying that something really is wrong with the screen. After that he'll give me a new phone and take this one.
I'm not 100% satisfied with this solution, but considering other options I had and a fact that I bought it on the black market, this one is fastest.
So...
My phone just returned from Samsung Service. Yes, the screen is faulty. I already knew that so it didn't surprise me, but behavior of the "warranty guy" did.
He attacked me verbally, saying that I'm a liar and that he doesn't believe me (although I did all this just because of him). He asked me worksheet number of my case at Samsung Service so that he can check if I'm telling the truth. To make to long story short, he refused to help even after he was convinced. One of his statements was "you bought the phone for half the price, what did you expect?! why didn't you buy the real one!".
After I ran out of nerves and being polite with him, I told him to fix the problem or face the consequences (inspectorate), after which he went mad again saying that I'm threatening him and that he can pay someone to find and kill me... I told him to do so freely. Then he yelled some more and finally hung up the phone. After 10 minutes I received a call from him saying to send him the phone on Monday.
So, suma summarum, I ended up being without the phone for more than a month and with 40€ of postal costs + Samsung Service's inspection.
I came across this thread, and it look interesting.
Best of luck claiming your warranty. There always problems when it comes to 'service' warranty, because the seller will need to repair/pay repair bill from Samsung/get you a new device from his own pocket.
I personally would never buy a electronic gizmo w/o manufacturer's warranty.

Wow dude. Sorry you had to go through all that, that's just ridiculous. That guy clearly shouldn't be selling technology if he doesn't expect to get any returned because of issues. I hope you get it resolved okay and end up with a nice new phone.

Half my screen is frozen sometimes.

To describe this as thoroughly as possible, if my phone is awake and I am using it and this happens, it will freeze whatever I am looking at but only the right side. If the phone is asleep and this happens when I wake it, the right half will be random colored lines and dots, like how televisions fuzz out on a channel you don't get. Pressing against the screen fixes it and it will function normal after that. Also I retain full touch control on that side during the problem. I would take a picture but it happens randomly and the note 4 is my only camera haha.
Any idea what causes this? I really don't want to pay 100 bucks to TMO to replace it, but I will if that is the only option. It is incredibly annoying. Thank you.
My Note 4 has just started to do this today. I made a post about it on reddit and took some pictures. Hopefully this gets bumped so we can get this figured out.

Wooooow
....That second image is my note 4 all over.
Half the screen goes haywire while the left side is frozen. I am unable to do anything to it at this point, and after holding several buttons...the screen goes black...still not able to do anything, and all of a sudden it restarts itself. Sometimes that fixes it for a few seconds. other times I have to remove the battery, wait a few seconds then it's alright for another few minutes. It happens no matter what I'm doing: watching a video, playing a game, answering a call, reading a text, responding to a text, or browsing the internet.
What I ended up doing was opening up the device and fiddling with the cables and connections.
Turns out there's a loose fitting connection in there that I couldn't seem to fit correctly back where it's supposed to go. Maybe there was an error in production and the parts do not fit together. Inside, there are two separate connections that connect the display to the motherboard. If both connections are not secure at the same time, it will simply not work. In my case, only one of the connections was loose. I was unable to fix it. Even though my device is out of warranty and has passed the 30 day return window (I bought it off Amazon), I managed to call them and they determined that it was a hardware failure and I already contacted Samsung customer support on this topic and they were unable to help me (since my model is 910F, the international/European version, they cannot help me) and they were able to create an RA to get a full refund for my phone. I decided I'm going to return it, and since the LG G4 is coming out soon, to just wait for that and ditch Samsung. LG has been good to me so far ever since I had my Nexus 4.
I had the same issue back when I bought my phone in October.
Went into my local Carphone Warehouse and replicated the problem to them and they sent it off for repair.
The repair slip just said that there was a hardware issue and that they had to replace the motherboard.
I believe Samsung offers a 1 year warranty so even if your store warranty has expired you can still get Samsung to fix this for you.
Wish you the best.
I would have had Samsung do it but when I called them they explained that they are unable to help me with my specific model of phone SM-910F (intl.) because it is manufactured for Europe, and that I would have to call Samsung UK to fix the problem/create an RA, and that would require me to be awake at 10pm- 8am or something stupid like that and make an international call to them and I did not want to have to deal with that. If they cannot fix a phone that I bought in the US and that I use in the US and it works fine in the US, then I would not like to do business with them any longer, seems like a stupid thing to do, manufacturing phones only for specific regions and telling people that they're out of luck when they have a problem with the phone if they're not using it in the region it was manufactured for.
so sadly my Note 4 has joined the group of devices with this frozen half grey screen and I am wondering whether anyone has a solution?

Well it's a couple of months since my last update on this frisen screen issue. Sent it off for repairs and sadly the repair notice didn't indicate what was done. I can only say the report said it's a software issue and returned the phone updated to 5.1.1 from kit kat. Haven't had the issue since.
Sent from my SM-N910F using XDA-Developers mobile app

Z5P died randomly

So an unfortunate thing happened with me and for the first time in my life. I recently bought a Z5P in black around 10days ago. Pretty new right?
Everything was well except the battery timing which was disappointing, had no issues like blurry camera etc.
Until today that is.
Last night I last checked the phone at around 40% battery and activated stamina mode. Goodnight.
Next morning I woke up, reached for my phone and lo and behold! No response. Held the power button for far too long, nothing. Tried the VOL-UP/DOWN + PWR, zilch.
Plugged in the charger to check if that was the issue, nothing, no LED light no response, nothing except that the back of the phone was getting extremely hot like it could burn a hole in a paper easily.
Connected to PC and it showed QSHUSB_BULK, surprised and amazed at that. Googled it to find that it was related to bricking. Bricking....WHAT THE HELL? How the hell did it brick overnight with WiFi and mobile data and all other wireless services off? I own a Xperia Z2 and I never even unlocked its bootloader ever so ofcourse unlocking the bootloader or anything was out of the question! The device was in pure vanilla form!
Took it to service center from work and the engineer examined and examined and concluded that the issue maybe related to manufacturing. OK that relieved me a little. I informed the engineer strictly not to open up the device and to perform any diagnostics he had to just as is, because the phone is new and I'm completely against opening up a device that is only 10 days old. Told him to replace the device if he finds the issue.
The engineer informed me that they have a 7days replacement policy from the date of purchase but since the device is new in KSA as well, there maybe hope and a chance to replace it. He asked to keep the device with him for more diagnostics. I informed him and the customer service rep there strictly not to open up the device and they assured that they won't and will try to analyze their best.
The engineer informed me again that they will try their best to replace the device if the fault is not solved but in the worst case scenario where it won't be possible, they will call me and tell me to come and see the manager to sort out the issue.
So now, I'm out of service from a mobile that I was badly looking forward to own, I'm extremely and completely disappointed Sony. 7 days replacement policy whereas most of the others provide a maximum of 30days? Completely disappointed.
I'm using my iPhone 5s now as a back up, don't even feel like booting up Xperia Z2....
EDIT: So they replaced my phone even if it was outside 7 days replacement policy, only because they didn't have parts available to repair the phone and would've ordered the parts from Sony World Dubai.
Still I got a new boxpacked phone, works great so far, battery time seems much much better than the first one I had and fingerprint sensor is extremely responsive...

THIS!!! Yea if this becomes viral, we're federally F'd!
This is what annoys me with Sony. Why don't they replace it without quickly without issue even in 6 month's let alone 10 days.

I'm using my iPhone 5s now as a back up, don't even feel like booting up Xperia Z2....

Yes they should've replaced it quickly but I guess they wanted to confirm no misuse was done or something but still...
Anyways i visited the Service Center yesterday and the engineer I talked to informed me that they will replace my set with a boxpacked one but they didn't contact me to tell me anything as they didn't have it in stock and that they have ordered the unit from their warehouse and hopefully will replace by Sunday.

I never had any issue with Sony before, as in 80% of my electronic devices are Sony manufactured and compared to all others they have been the most sturdiest and durable, shocked me beyond thought that this might happen.
I have a Z2 that I bought around launch as well and it is extremely durable and superb that it still rocks solid after all the water dunking and what not.

Sony Warranty Repair - Success Story!

After seeing so many posts about how terrible Sony's customer service and repair centers are, I was determined to find a fix for my phone and only come crawling back to Sony as a last resort. Here's what happened:
The top speaker of my phone became much quieter than the bottom speaker. It was only playing sounds at less than half the volume of the bottom speaker. I tried rebooting, resetting, and using Sony's PC companion to repair and reinstall new firmware. Nothing worked. I called Sony support (USA) and told them all of the above. They gave me an RMA#, I mailed my phone to them, and prepared to wait up to 14 business days. Surprisingly, my phone was returned to me in just 7 business days, which meant it spent 6 of those days on a truck an only 1 day at Sony's repair facility in Texas.
The phone was packed very nicely and came with a single piece of paper listing the parts that were replaced. The list basically included the entire exterior of the phone (front, back, and all four sides). It looks like a brand new phone! I turned it on and to my disappointment, they had upgraded my phone from 4.4.4 KK to 5.1.1. LP. I had intentionally stayed on KK because of the battery life and greater control of notifications. I figured this was no big deal though because I could just flash the backup I made before sending in the phone for repair. But another surprise - the phone is no longer rooted! Well, at least the top speaker works properly again. It's so loud, it made me think speakerphone was turned on the first time I made a call. Didn't realize how bad it had become...
(3) Takeaways from this experience:
1. Sony honored my warranty despite the phone being rooted
2. Sony repaired my phone to a like new condition
3. Sony did this in less than a week
Now it's time for the next test - how long can I use the stock ROM before I can't take it anymore and root? I give it about a week...
Had the same experience, and same issue about the earpiece actually, among others. It took them only a few days and it looked like they sent a brand-new phone.

They sent mine back in the same box, by itself, and the problem with the audio port happened again after one month.... Probably that USA support is better than UK
I bought the extended warranty when I got my Z3 Compact from the Sony store. Headphone jack issue came up and I called Sony support. They were going to send me a replacement phone in a couple of weeks. I got a call one week later saying they were out of stock on the phone but offered to send me a check of $529.99, the price I paid for my phone and also keep it. Needless to say I took the offer and I now have a Z3C that I bought for $79. In the US btw.
I also had a success story with their service :
my front screen was separating itself from my phone slowly but surely. So I had a gap of 1mm between the screen and the body of my phone at the left top corner. So I emailed them, they told me to sent my phone to the repair center, I did it (had to pay the post fee) and it came back with three sheets of paper with all the stuff they replaced, from the glass to the plastic corners including the SD card holder and the flaps and a lot of small stuff (like small screws)
They were pretty quick, quicker than the delivery (they used DPD, but those are sooo bad, awful.)
NB : I first unrooted my phone before sending it back.
PS : on a side note, do you have any figure concerning the battery life of 4.4 vs 5.1 ? I'm a SlimRom user and I find that battery life was better a year ago, but I'm not sure if it's just subjective or if it's actually the case. I'm also unsure whether I wouldn't be better off if I were on real stock Rom, because I noted that I'm loosing a lot of perf with SlimRom (Antutu dropped from 51k to 38k, e.g)
I purchased mine from ebay and i think the person selling it knew of the sudden death issue that was causing a lot of issues with this phone. I was unaware after purchasing but soon found out after my phone wouldn't turn on and would randomly turn off. I did some research on the issue but could never resolve as it had a bad chip or something, i forget. I looked into the warranty & it was still under warranty (don't think the person who sold it knew the phone was still under warranty) i sent it in and they replaced it with a brand new phone. I bought it cheap on ebay & got a brand new phone out of the deal, so i'm quite pleased to say the least.
i sent my phone to sony twice with single warranty.. and for the second time the phone was unlocked.
Sent mine in 1.5 weeks ago because the vibration alert wasn't working correctly anymore - mechanical issue. Would work for a while when applying pressure to the phone at a certain point so obvious loose connection.
Got it back, issue fixed.
Mate of mine has a faulty audio jack. I had made him a little guide what to do since I did the process before. Might as well share it here. We live in the Netherlands.
Hi,
These are the steps you will have to do to get your phone fixed. Good luck.
1. Make an account on this page
https://account.sonymobile.com/nl-NL/#/signin
2. Find your IMEI number of the phone. This you can find*
Settings>About Phone>IMEI information
3. Register your product on the sony website
4. click on support, there it will show your warranty period. (mine says*GARANTIE VOOR: 05/01/2017)
5. send an email to*[email protected]*and specify your problem and the following details:
problem:*
faulty audio jack
Model:*
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
IMEI:
phone number:*
address:*
6. Wait for the service ticket, and send it to sony. 1-2 weeks.
Doei!
I had to send my phone two times. First time the sd card slot spring had problems. The second time was also about the audio jack, which sony bricked during the first repair. Ever since the back panel doesn't stay put. Still, all other internals got fixed. All without a proof of receipt. This is a second hand phone.

Success story here in the UK too.
Magnetic charge port got pulled out of my Z3 compact by the Magnector X-202 charger (had been using it for a year) was still within my 2 year warranty. Sent off to Sony and they collected it, replaced the screen (even though there was nothing wrong with it) & the whole casing and sent it back all within 7 days. I thought they'd just stick another magentic charge port in and be done with it. Don't know if it's a coincidence or not but the audio sound louder and better since the repair too, but that might just be due to using my old HTC Desire as a temporary phone.
Very happy with the service.
I had a similar success replacing mine after it got water in it despite all the flaps being closed. It was still within warranty. It took a few weeks because it needed to be tested, but they honored it and sent me a new unit. I suspect it was because I also had a Magnector charger that pulled the magnetic charge port out of the phone. Probably broke the water-tight sealing. All things considered, even if you don't know if it will be covered, go ahead and ask anyway. You might be surprised.
Hey,
also a success here. Send in for warranty with a fault headphone jack, low volume Speakers and a Connection error from pc to phone. Got a complete new model (ist also locked ) yeah
I purchased the phone from Sony Online in Dec-2014 w/ 2yr extended warranty, phone back is now separating from phone. I emailed Sony Support, they said phone was past warranty (WTF?). I phoned them, support said they don't have enough parts to fix phone so they will buy out my 2yr warranty. I'm getting my $$$ back.

I respect Sony Support (they treated my right on PS2, Camera and now Phone). That's why I went with a Sony phone. Not sure when I'll replace my phone, the case holds it together. I figure it'll be good for 2 more months .... see what new phones are out.
I also sent my phone for repairs on July 13, 2016.
The SD card socket was broken mechanically, the memory cards wouldn't stay inside.
They sent me a completely new unit on July 26, 2016 after only 10 working days.
Since now they're selling the Z5, I think they prefer just to send a new Z3C than to waste time trying to solder/desolder parts.

I'm in Germany... but did you apply directly from the Sony Mobile website? (link here)
I registered my phone online with the IMEI when I bought it.
Then I just logged in, clicked "Repair" under my devices and they sent a box directly to my house.
I packaged the device, sent it by post and they notified me when they received it.
Hopefully you can also get good service over there!
Good luck

My magnetic charge port has come out again after being repaired in April this year. Sending it off for repair again, hopefully will go as smoothly as last time.

Samsung Support and Repair Services

I had an issue recently that required that I send my phone in for what I thought would be Warranty Repairs.
To be honest, the issue I had is a bizarre story in itself and worthy of a separate thread so suffice it to say, I needed Samsung to return my phone to full stock, ATT Note 20 Ultra. (when flashing an update recently, my phone was somehow switched from a Locked ATT Note 20 Ultra to a Locked Samsung Note 20 Ultra and I was not able to switch it back no matter what I did - as a result, I lost WiFi Calling and HD Voice Calls.)
Anyway - I created a Warranty claim and returned my phone following the usual protocols. After a couple of days I was contacted by Samsung saying that my phone required a repair to the Back Camera Lens (Discovered during their inspection) and because the broken lens was the result of a drop or something, I had to pay $120 for repairs) For what it's worth, the camera was fine when I sent it in - in fact the lens was covered with a Glass Screen Protector since the day I received the phone. I never dropped it or had any accidents and I really could not believe the Lens was broken. I decided to go ahead and pay for the repair despite the fact that the camera was fine when I sent it in. (I almost wonder if they removed or broke the glass screen protector on the camera during their inspection and because of that thought the Lens had broken)
In any event, Samsung is now repairing the Lens but I am still waiting to hear what the prognosis is regarding the issue I sent the phone in for in the first place. I need the phone to be fully Att Stock so I can use WiFi calling (not possible on Samsung Devices that are not branded to ATT) and Like I said earlier, there was nothing I could do to fix it, so I wait...and wait... Hopefully I will hear something from them this week.
Sounds shady AF. Hope it works out for ya

I can understand why @AeroSatan said it sounds shady as FK because number one Samsung doesn't HAVE LOCKED FIRMWARE! I'm on the unlocked version of Samsungs Galaxy Note 20 Ultra that I bought directly from them and if I wanted to I could easily flash ANY carrier's firmware that I chose to and then turn around and flash right back to Samsungs unlocked firmware! Why would Samsung want to lock a phone to them? That makes no damn sense! It sounds like you're trying to cover up the broken camera glass by claiming shipping broke it or Samsung broke it to try to get a free repair from Samsung lmfao!

Which is wrong again! If I want those features on my unlocked version of Samsungs Galaxy Note 20 Ultra all i have to do is flash the Verizon HOME CSC and then I'll have all of that and still be on unlocked firmware!!
When I sent my Note 8 back to Samsung for the screen replacement under warranty because the top half of the screens colors stopped showing up correctly and there was a very noticeable tint and when I sent the phone I sent it with my glued together s-pen because I accidentally rolled over on it when I fell asleep in bed and I super glued it back together and I never said anything about my s-pen just the screen and when my phone was returned it had a brand new s-pen in it that I never asked for or mentioned so I don't see Samsung breaking your camera glass and then trying to get payment from you for it.
This is so weird. I don't understand why you would pay for something that you didn't break. Second did you try to flash your device and things went wrong? Not being a jerk but none of this makes sense

Honestly, It may have been a poor choice of words in how I described my problem - basically - when I got the phone originally it was lilsted in software settings as ATT/ATT/ATT - which shows it is an ATT device - and the features like WIFI Calling and other enhanced calling features will work.
After flashing and having the issue I had - my phone was now listed as XAA/XAA/ATT - the same that Samsung devices show that are not tied to a specific carrier. Because it was not an ATT recognized device any more, WIFI calling would not work and no matter what I did - flashing firmware for 986U or 986U1 - nothing helped, my service provider stayed stuck on XAA/XAA/ATT (but again, when I first purchased the phone it was ATT/ATT/ATT)
So the only thing I could do is send back to Samsung to have them revert it back to ATt/ATT/ATT or replace the phone under warrenty.
Hope that helps to clear things up ?
IN the years I have been on ATT, I have never been able to get a phone that is not recognized as an "ATT" Device to get WIFI Calling and HD VOICE. I have tried what you suggested and it has not worked for me - on any phone - except a few years ago when I was using an International device that I had rooted - this time, being Snapdragon, it can't be rooted and ATT WIFI Calling and HD VOICE would not work on my device any more. (it had worked originally when my phone was showing ATT/ATT/ATT as network provider - but when it got stuck on XAA/XAA/ATT it would not work any more)
It may work for yoiu on VERIZON - IT DOES NOT Work that way on ATT.

I just wanted to get my phone back sooner rather than later - and if I got into a big argument about this it would only delay that - plus, I had no proof that it wasn't broken when I sent it - it could easily become "He said - She Said" - then who is going to win that argument? They had the phone - I just wanted to try to speed up the processes as much as I could.
Regarding flashing, yes,This originally happened when I was attempting to update my phone with new firmware - something happened during the flash and it failed. I had to download new firmware and try again. The update did work this time but that is when I discovered my phone had switched from ATT/ATT/ATT to XAAXAAATT -
to try to fix this, I tried flashing every combination of firmware for this device - and nothing worked to change it back to ATT/ATT/ATT - I tried every possible option - N986U and N986U1 firmware (and even combinations of both) Nothing I did would switch it back to what it should be.

Next time, take a pick of the devices condition before sending it in to have proof that it was in one piece before being sent out. There has been shenanigans with Samsung's trade in program before where they would claim the phone you set in wasn't pristine or missing altogether. Always document these things so then they can't just upsell you for no reason for a camera which they mightve broken unpacking your phone. It sucks.

If you are At&t and have At&t sim the firmware should have provisioned to your sim once firmware was flashed. I know its a little late to tell you this now.

I know that - that is the whole problem - I purchased an ATT Device - I have ATT Firmware - when I originally recieved the phone, everything worked properly - but after a recent flashing issue, I am no longer provisioned like that - I tried everything - even went to ATT to ask for their help - nothing we did (and believe me, I tried everything) nothing worked. This is why I had to send back to Samsung and I am still waiting for word on what is wrong and what they are going to do to fix it.
Well, finally received my phone back from Samsung Support - and unfortunately, they didn't fix the primary problem I had originally sent my phone in for.
When I inserted my ATT Sim card into the device, after booting it up - everything worked properly - well most everything - I still did not have WiFi Calling. I checked in Settings/About Phone and discovered that the Service Provider was listed as XAA/XAA/ATT - that is not what it is supposed to be - it certainly is not what it was when I originally purchased the phone. (It should be ATT/ATT/ATT)
I called Samsung Support again and went thru the "whole story" reviewing what my problem was and what I needed fixed - the support person was apologetic and seemed to understand my issues - so I have resubmitted my phone and made sure it was clear that I either needed them to fix my phone or replace it - Damn, what a PITA!
Some of the Samsung Shops do run in a shady manner while other provide top class support. I had a similar experience with one of their shops while exchanging my Note 10+ for Note 20 Ultra. I generated a quote using the Upgrade option in My Galaxy app and when i reached the Samsung Shop, they refused to agree to the quote. They gave weird reasons like now the price has come down so we cannot give you that much. They offered me a price which was 200$ less than the quote on the app. After a bit of haggling, they agreed for a price which was 90$ less than the quote i had. Now the story gets even more shady, the samsung executive had to enter details of my phone in his Samsung portal to complete the exchange process. After getting all my details, he asked for the quote ID which i generated in the phone and when he was done entering, he moved far away from me pretending to talk on phone but i knew he was hiding the next screen on his phone app which would have shown the correctly approved quote. I didnt create much fuss since i was tired of waiting for my online order which was delayed by 2 weeks, so i needed to get the phone that day. But still it was an interesting turn of events to see what people do for earning few extra bucks and they dont even worry about tarnishing the image of the company they are working for.

Ok. So what happens when you try to flash the regular u firmware now? Ath3 or ath4?
Oh and I should note since you made the rear camera comment. When I broke my front display and sent the phone in for repair they noted they also replaced the rear camera glass. The metal piece around the cameras was replaced too. They actually did me a favor as the original one you could see where the drill bit they used to make the bevel stopped. Actual stop marks. It was weird.

When I flash the Stock firmware for N986U - when I boot the phone, it boots up fine - no ATT LOGO during the boot process - only Samsung - No WiFi Calling - no ATT Video Calling either. It is basically treating my phone like a Non-ATT Samsung Note 20 Ultra - but I specifically purchased the ATT Variant and when I originally received it, WiFi calling worked perfectly.
As stated earlier, I did call Samsung Support and after a long conversation, at the direction of the support people I submitted a ticket for support and have sent the phone back to Samsung. They should get the phone in tomorrow and I am hoping to have this fixed once and for all soon.
Fingers Crossed....

Not sure about that - and I really kind of have done that already.
From the second my phone arrived back from Samsung, in the Settings/about phone, my phone was listed as XAA/XAA/ATT - just like a SAMSUNG phone would be - but when I first bought the phone it was ATT/ATT/ATT and that is what Samsung was supposed to turn it back to.
Following the steps as you said will not change that Service Provider Indication - at least not to my knowledge. Do you know of anyone with a stock SAMSUNG phone that shows ATT/ATT/ATT in that part of Settings?

From the second my phone arrived back from Samsung, in the Settings/about phone, my phone was listed as XAA/XAA/ATT - just like a SAMSUNG phone would be - but when I first bought the phone it was ATT/ATT/ATT and that is what Samsung was supposed to turn it back to.
Following the steps as you said will not change that Service Provider Indication - at least not to my knowledge. Do you know of anyone with a stock SAMSUNG phone that shows ATT/ATT/ATT in that part of Settings?

In your phones current state does it allow you set the csc code by putting this into the dialer?

I don't know - I no longer have the phone in my possession - I sent it back to Samsung on Friday - hoping they fix it correctly this time - if that doesn't happen, then I will see if I can change it using that code when I have the phone.
Thanks for the tip.
Phone has been returned and works perfectly.
It has taken some time - and I actually had to send the phone back once when Samsung had returned it to me without fixing the primary issue. 2nd time around, after an indepth conversation with Service Support, Samsung has fixed my phone and returned it to me - like new.
I have been using it several days now and fallen in love again with it's speed and responsiveness. The Camera is second to none compared to any phone/camera I have owned previously.
Honestly, while I am very pleased and happy to have my phone back, I will be a little nervous about flashing U1 Firmware with CSC from the normal U - I had a flash failure previously and that is what led to my phone having problems - I really don't want to go thru that again, but I think if I am careful - I should be ok
