Saving Battery by switching LTE to 2G when screen is off - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I wondered if there is a way to switch my data to 2G when screen is off and turn it back to LTE when screen is on in order to save some battery?
I've tried the following via Tasker:
status>display>off
then
plugin>secure settings>custom ROM actions>LTE>off
status>display>on
then
plugin>secure settings>custom ROM actions>LTE>on
When I toggle LTE off does it use 2G automatically and if so, how can I see if it really works?
I am rooted ofc...

Intelli3G does the trick very well. Xposed is needed.

Hm....I run a ROM where Xposed is not suggested..
There has to be another way right?
via Tasker with a command f.e. or soemthing.

Switching network modes isn't instant and swtiching to a newer one will cause the phone to reconnect to the network.

***From Android 4.2 on - cannot toggle airplane mode with widget\alternative app. It's a google restriction.
You can try:
1) Root
2) Download alternative app like 'Tasker', 'LIama'
3) Make it system (via Titanium Backup)
ok I will try that.

P.S. My z1c is not rooted, so Liama can't switch airplane. Am I right?
Yes it helped!!
No that just works with root I think.

Enabling Call Recording and App Lock

Hey xda People,
can someone teach me how to enable native call recording on the s7 edge please? I rooted my s7 edge few hours ago and I'm done setting it up how I want minus the call recording... can someone help? also can maybe someone help getting App Lock to work? anyone out there knows how it's done?
cheers
I don't know if anybody else has this but after i have finished a phone call, all my conversations are in the Voice Recorder app on my phone inside the recordings tab. Very clear sound on both sides of the conversation. Try that.
Since you have root, get Xposed Framework, then get xTouchWiz Module, its in the settings. I have call recording through this.
Get Xposed here, then flash it AND ALSO get the APK for the Xposed app there,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960
Then get the xTouchWiz module inside Xposed framework, the phone recording can also be configured to on/off toggle or auto record every call.
Both Mods in CSC/Others.xml

Use what I've suggested. This is a small mod which doesn't have to go through Xposed.
I prefer system inbuilt mods rather than depending on an app or xposed.
Mental pleasure of making the rom lightweight.

YAAAAAAAAS!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! And I'm 100% on board with u on the Mental pleasure of making the rom lightweight.
I did what u told me. Added the lines in others.xml in the csc folder and and created a AppLock folder in System/Priv-App/ and copied the AppLock.apk in there and set the right permissions.
After reboot nothing.
read thread and installed busybox via playstore and installed busybox from within app. Do I have to keep the busybox app after installing the "framework" or whatever busybox is?
After reboot nothing.
looked at the "code" says something about SmartManager in the beginning. Does this depend on SmartManager? Because I deleted it whilst de-bloating....
trying to get SmartManager to work again right now. In the meantime can someone maybe point out something I could have missed or done wrong please?

It's a Samsung native app which allows to lock apps individually. For example you can lock Gallery using this app with fingerprint, pin, password and have to enter one of those to get access to the app. Very good security measurement.

For those who can't find Applock - Go to Smart Manager and Swipe once to Left. It's on the Second Dashboard Bottom Row named as App Behavior.

Wifi calling stopped working after updating to Android 10.

Hello.
I recently updated my phone to android 10 and now my VoWifi and VoLTE is not working. It worked before but I had to go through the logkit to turn it on.
The settings in the logkit was gone with the latest update and I install a new logkit and turn everything on again, but its like its not activating the VoWifi and VoLTE.
Any ideas?

That's the easy part of using old logkit.
I am talking about doing the guide of opening the profiles inside the Qualcomm modern.

I appreciate the hint but I already rolled my phone back to Android 9. Now I'm to afraid to upgrade if it shouldn't work. And since there is no "Denmark guide" or guide for 6T I don't trust it. But maybe I will try sometime. Right now I'm sticking with what works.

Search for Denmark in the guide. It works for almost everyone. But it's better to be rooted to backup efs first. Whatever works for you.

After updating to A10 (10.3.0) I no longer have the options to enable the switches (can be fixed with magisk module), but *#801# no longes works. Because I cannot enable Serial and Full-port switch, I also cannot use Qualcomm PDC. Does 801 work for you, or are you using another method?
Edit: never mind, figured it out. Had to install engineering mode app! All is good.

First off, I replaced the new OEMLogKit with an older version, to be able to turn on voLTE/VoWifi witches in *#800#.
-OR-
Use a magisk module to make the switches available, I think I used this one for test purposes and it worked as intended.
To be able to use *#801# (serial), install EnrineeringMode apk, I used this one from APK mirror.
After this is done you can simply use Qualcomm PDC tool to change profile just like in Pie. :good:
When its done it's safe to uninstall EngineeringMode apk again.
EDIT: Yes, VoLTE and ViWifi works great! In my case I use the profile for H3G Denmark Commercial, but yeah.. What profile to use is operator dependant.

Yeah one of the options crashed the app, but you don't need that option enabled. I believe I just turned on the third box and then the first. I'm not sure which options are required, but that did it for me.

Confirmed - just activated it the way you described. A big thanks, mate!!
- install old logkit and engineer mode app
- dial *#800# - activate VoWiFi and/or VoLTE
- activate switches in Settings/SIM & network
- dial *#801# - activate 'Full-port switch' (activating 'Serial' crashes the app but it is NOT necessary for the procedure to proceed!)
- as already known deactivate Sub0 and Sub1 in Overseas-blahblah and remove it afterwards; then activate Sub0 and Sub1 in H3G-Denmark and set it as active
- enjoy calls through your WiFi again
