Is the LED notification light part of the screen? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Screen on my G2 was totally cracked up but the LED notification light still worked. Was red when I plugged in the charger. Was green when I turned on phone.
Got the screen replaced and now the LED notification light doesn't work. Charge the phone and no red light. Turn on the phone and no green light. Options for LED is turned on.
Is the notification led integrated into the screen? So I may have a faulty replacement screen?
Also read that maybe a factory reset may work but thats a last resort to check cuz I don't feel like setting phone all up again.
On a side note..do those screen repair stores you find in the mall usually use OEM or crap quality replacements? Je told me oem but i trust no one. Noticing as I press keys as i type I see parts of screen near finger get a little darker like if u press down on a LCD screen too hard. Other than that the screen is fine so far.

No its not.
Its a seperate part that attaches next to the selfie camera on the logic board.
Looks like the shop was in a hurry and forgot to connect the LED
As for the screen, I can say you have an aftermarket non OEM.
OEM they use LOCA or OCA to bond the Digitizer to the LCD.
By doing so, you have no weird darker/lighter effects when typing on it.
Just like the stock screen.
If you have those effects, I would recommend you have them replace the screen with one that's OEM and not an aftermarket.
My first screen repair story went like yours only I swapped it in myself.
Come to find out the seller sold me an aftermarket screen claiming it was OEM.
I had him refund me for it since I called him out on it quickly

Darn...hate confrontation so was hoping it was part of the screen so i can easily tell him to fix. Now he can just tell me it probably wasn't working due to dropping it but I know it was working. Could always fight the charge on my credit card if he's unwilling to do something about it.
As for aftermarket..i can tell him what you told me but he could jsut stick to his guns, lie and stay "its OEM" and probably nothing i can do about it.
Thanks for the info!

Using a light...it looks like there's nothing in there where the sensor/LED shoudl be..its like i can see to the back of the case.
EDIT: Opened up...the whole proximity part is missing!! I'm assuming the LED light is part of that since that's not working and its right next to it.
EDIT2: I guess the IR blaster is part of that too...lol
Thing that pisses me off now is that he didn't put in my factory stock part and will replace it with a possibly crappy aftermarket part.
I'm demanding some money back for this nonsense.

SOS - Hermes works fine just that there is NO screen!

Really need help here,
My hermes suddenly decided that visuals are no longer needed.
That means the screens stays off all the time (yes even in bootloader mode).
It works, receive calls and flashes roms but in no situation can I see anything on the screen (pitch black screen).
I've got no warranty so I took it apart and checked each cable and connector - no issues were seen. I tried changing SPL-s, RUU, Roms all worked but left my tytn with that black screen.
Did anyone see this happen or has any advice?
This sucks big time :-(
No one? Oh man, I guess it's dead then :-(
Last bump before giving up and throwing it away - please?
send it to me if your gonna throw it away : - 0
I've given up on mine as well. It has white screen though. Where do I dump this thing?
If it is out of warrenty, I would take it apart as is sounds like the hardware, check the connections to the LCD. Does the backlight still work, or if you put it in strong sunlight, can you see the LCD working?
My Hermes had a white screen also. I found that if I squeeze the bottom right hand corner whilst resetting it would sometimes work. It seems there is a chip on the switch board that needs the right ammount of pressure on it. I think it was a design flaw as the herm200 and 300 are different. If applying pressure works and you are confident enough take the hermes apart and put a couple of small pieces of plastic or paper between the front buttons and the small square chip on the switch board. This worked for me.
The service guide is available if you google. Let me know if you need more info.
As for the black screen that sounds more serious sorry not seen that one.
what are you guys willing to sell your pdas for? Mine fell in a puddle and i need one for parts. The white screen might be fixable the first couple of times but then it dies off for good, the black screen i've never heard of.
So if you want to sell for a reasonably cheap price let me know, i can buy a new keypad online for $50. So around there would be nice!

I just tested this on mine and actually got some results.
mines the opposite though, it will NOT work with any pressure. I left all the screws loose for that board under the buttons, and left the LCD assemble screws out on that end and it works, But if I press the keys it whites out again and won't come back until I repeat the dis-assemble/re-assemble
I had a similar problem but this was after someone dropped mine on the floor. The screen would just be white screen, while everything worked. If I pressed the bottom right of the phone it would sometimes come on and stay on for a little while but would eventually always go to white screen.
I did manage to use the phone but had use a program called Net Control which allowed me to control the phone over WIFI with the phone screen shown on the PC. Got the phone replaced in the end by the people who dropped it.
i got the flex cable and my phone still has the white screen problem....wtf///

No backlight on screen

Dropped my phone in the toilet, fished it out and brought it back from the dead-again. After I let it dry out for a day or two, everything worked, except the red and green buttons were constantly lit up. That was when the screen was completely backlit. Now the screen won't light up at all, and I know it's not the backlight settings. Is this fixable at all?
Same problem. Replaced broken LCD with new one. First it only gave white light. Now it works fine, only no backlight. Who knows a solution?
Mine is all good now, so if you want a working device or parts, let me know

How did you fix it?

Backlight Replacement

My buds Droid 2 back light doesn't work anymore as well as the touch screen digitizer. Is the back light in the LCD itself or is that a seperate part? I told him I would fix it and I need to know what to order.
I'm having a similar issue, My wife got the phone wet, so we dried it out. That part went well....
Well she got a new phone, and I put the Droid 2 in a draw, and recently found it again, deciding to look it over, I charged it up, turn it on.
Here is what problems it has, No Backlight on the LCD display, No LED Nofication lights, No keyboard lights, No Digitizer touch.
The phone boots and works, sounds work, OS is intact and under a flashlight I can see the screen.
my question is does the ribbon cable control all of these? or are the seperate problems?

LG Nexus 4 - Washed in a Washing Machine(Still Working)

Hi, I accidentally washed my phone in a washing machine(don't ask why) on Friday. On Saturday I dried it out and when I tried to charge it the red light has shown. Yesterday the red light went away and there was a green light shown. The thing is, I can turn my phone on, I can take calls, I can feel the vibrations when I move my finger around the screen but it is completely black. So I would like to ask, is there a way to fix it? E.g. a new digitzer or something?? Thanks in advance.
If you get haptic feedback when you touch the screen, its not the digitizer. Probably just the screen itself. You can find a new one online, just google it or check ebay

Hardware Issues After Replacing Battery, USB/Audio Connectors & Mainboard

Hardware Issues after replacing battery, USB/Audio connectors & main board
Need some help, and figured you guys would be the right people to direct me on a fix or at least narrowing down the cause of the problem
Phone - Verizon G2 v980
TLDR - replaced 3 different parts, and now phone display won't show anything - just black.
It all started when I was having some audio issues with the headset jack being loose, and headphones and aux output disconnecting easily and often. It was pissing me off, so I decided to replace it. (I'm no stranger to tearing apart and fixing small electronics but I never worked on the LG G2.
I figured since I was going to open it up, I'd replace the battery at the same time, and bought both off ebay.
When they finally arrived, I opened up my phone following a couple videos I'd found online (btw, no little black screw in mine, as it was a refurbed replacement via squaretrade.)
Unfortunately, through a combo of cheap 3rd party battery with a very stiff ribbon cable, and my clumsy fingers, I managed to destroy the logic board's battery connection port.
So I went on ebay to find a new board... I found a used verizon 32gb (mine was 16gb) board and got it delivered.
When I put it together, something is not working right, but I can't be sure what it is...
I think the board is bad, but am not 100%.
Screen is black
I can connect the phone to my computer, and it will autodownload the LG Verizon software, and show up in my file explorer. There's some files still there, but it looks like it was attempted to be cleaned, but not factory reset wiped (some personal data still there) but the dates are all showing 1970ish....
I have the phone connected up to the original charger, and the notification light pulses light to dark red as it charges up.
When I plug in the charger, I hear a buzz, and sometimes even a tone.
I hold down the power button, and eventually it vibrates again, and the notification LED pulses blue & green, and there's a brief backlight looking light with some vertical lines, another buzz and black screen. I'd think it was shut down, but it still shows in the computer, and the light to dark red pulsing continues (charging?)
knock on doesn't work
Should I return the board?
Saw some other threads about the proximity sensor, so I can check that out, but I didn't touch the screen...
Thanks in advance!
Update
No difference with proximity sensor disconnected.
With the old board in with busted power connector wedged in, it does nothing, except when plugged in, where it buzzes repeatedly.
