For old eyes ?

Once I get to the step that you highlight word and it brings up the search tool i press the search tool and nothing happens? Any new fixes?

How to modify steps for Sprint ( USA ) Galaxy Sx phones - they will ask you Sprint activation BEFORE to go to Google or Samsung Account activation screen, but if they locked with FRP flashing custom ( UNI ) kernels for rooting and unlock is not possible. Spring activation application will prevent from access to mark + select and opening browser window. Well - i can get access even to GooglePlay store via launcher, but ...

Hey man, nice one!
I only am stuck at the settings screen, when i choose to add a samsung account, nothing happens.
How can i fix this?

You can use OTG to get to settings and enable ADB but you won't be able to authorize PC so this won't work. Tested on G925A 5.1.1 tested on G925V 5.1.1

The reactivation lock if on. Won't let anything to be flashed via Odin or anything else in download mode, not even samsung service center people could do it (so samsung strictly asks you to disable the lock if you are giving it for repair to them). Now in case you have it on and somehow end up softbricking your phone there won't be any way to fix it. That's why this tutorial could be a lifesaver for those facing such problems
920-I, xtrestolite 2.4 rom, unikernel,xposed.

Tested this on VZW 6 edge and it doesnt work, Samsung wont enable add new account.

But how far as I understand lock is in off position by default from factory, shop etc? And what's the point at all to put on or at all to make that future if even Samsung recommend to leave in off position.

Yes it's off by default. Some people turn it on so in case of theft or loss of mobile the other person won't be able to write new rom over it or anything like that. Reactivation lock + fingerprint screen lock make a formidable combination for those wanting protection of data against theft or loss.

Remote Functions

I'm enjoying my 2nd android device but can't find the website to use the remote functions.
Could anyone help or share the link?
Thank you

You need to go into the Kies Air app, it will give you the URL for the website - you'll need to be on the same WiFi network (assuming its much the same as Kies Air for the original Galaxy S).

Are you talking about the site to remotely find and wipe your phone...
I tried it yesterday... Couldn't get the remote ring to work unfortunately...
It's called Samsung Dive (.com)

Thanks for your advice... I just checked and I did enter it the way you recommended... But it doesn't work. The other features for tracking and call logs work... Weird!
Is it worth using Samung Dive remote tracker etc if I already have Lookout installed? I haven't managed to find any reviews for Dive...
I am using Dive. I do not have lockout.
I am also using Exchange with remote wipe enabled.
If your phone is new, do everyone a favor and test remote wipe through samsung dive
I wanted to do it myself, but by the time I found time I already had my phone heavily customized, did not want to ruin that.
In Dive I only tested "Locate" and "Lock" features, they work at first glance, but again I did ont try to bypass the "lock" feature - it may as well be possible.

Security Flaw in our phones

Hi!
I just noticed that when the screen is locked and you double tap the home butten, the voice control will start. Then you are able to just go to your homescreen. Is this happening on your sgs2's too?

Yep same here using KE7 XEU (stock version) and default lock screen.
Double hit home button while in lockscreen and when voice control starts just tap cancle and viola youre on home screen.
But it doesnt happen when you active pattern or number lock.. so its not really a security issue =)

Why does everyone have to put FIVE ALARM FIRE!!! titles in their not so significant posts. If the phone doesn't have lock enabled this is a convenience feature not a security problem.

I mean seriously, do you even read any of the posts before replying?
1) OP said he's running a Villain ROM which means he's rooted and modded.
2) Another poster running Villain can't replicate the problem.
3) No one other than the OP (and I'm assuming even you) can replicate the problem.
4) Who knows what the OP might be running app wise that might be triggering the issue on his phone.
I know I'm not a mod but these little "crisis" posts that start out as embers end up being raging fires. Maybe its because of all the different languages spoken. By all means, if anyone running a stock ROM can replicate this report back. It would indeed then be an issue worthy of the front page and the title "Security Flaw in our phones."
Just to add - I'm using litening 1.1, and I have an enforced exchange PIN.
Double clicking the home button will not get past the password entry screen.
Believe me, I've tried all ROMs and various apps to get around the password, still haven't found one yet.

Got the s5 today, few questions

I like the phone, but the 16gb causes a lot of concern. After downloading my music from Amazon, it's almost gone.
I can't find an option to put music from Amazon on my sd card, is that hte new kit kat "feature"?
Also, the test message preview on my lock screen only says "New Message", ther eused to be an option that gave me a preview of the actual message..is it gone?
On the Note 3, it had a setting where screenshots would enter auto edit mode, came in real handy for me. S5 doesn't seem to have this?
When I disabled my magazine, my home screen transitions isn't continuous ..I know I seen the s5 do this in review videos.
Did you root your phone yet with Towelroot? If so go to play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix and install this to get read/write to your sd card. The other stuff I can't help you with. Sorry.

Not yet. I will this weekend tho. Thanks bud
Before you root you may want to look into fix for SHealth and ISIS Wallet (if you use it). You have to stop SHealth and Health Services in app manager and clear data and cache before you installed Xposed. You may even have to uninstall their updates if I remember as well.
Install xposed and it's service , then update Shealth and it should work fine. Once you get that done install ISIS Root Bypass 3.0 module for xposed and check it in modules and reboot and the Wallet will work fine after that.
These were two things that I use often and really had to get working to be happy with root.

Why put off until tomorrow, what you could do today, and prevent yourself from being screwed by VZW when they push 4.4.3 soon, and Root may not work with it?
In the text messaging app you'll see a setting to display the message on the lockscreen instead of new message.
Plug your phone into the computer and drag and drop the music to the SD or use root explorer to move it there.. You don't need root to do this.
No, the S5 cannot auto enter edit mode as far as I know, maybe clear defaults of gallery and set images to auto open in an editor?
As far as continuous transitions just use apex or Nova.

You'll have to edit a file using Root Explorer then if you disable My Magazine you'll have endless home screen scrolling. I use Nova launcher which already has the option in settings. If you definitely have to have the stock launcher and you can't get infinite scrolling to work let me know I'll tell you which file to edit.

[HELP] Disable S-VIEW

Hi fellow devs nd members of xda,
I have got problems with my Galaxy S4.. The sview is flashing throughout my screen without any S-Cover or any magnetic material. This happens randomly.. So I need to disable the s-view service and associated files.
I have tried the following :
1. Disable s-view from system settings
2. Renamed and changed permission for system/app/sview service.apk
I heard from another developer to change the value from OPEN to CLOSE in hall_detect file located at sys/devices/virtual/sec/sec_key. But I can't write into the file or rename the file.. The only thing I can do is change the permissions, but that doesn't help..
Does anyone have any idea how this sview works. It's become annoying when I play movies or games on my S4..
Many thanks
AJ

It's as close as you can get without disabling the sensor. I didn't hook into the phone so that might still show the S-View window, but that's no biggie. Also, the Smart Stay icon disappears, but hey, that can be a plus

You saved my ass, thanks for that. After getting root and so on I tried to follow your instructions. EDIT: When I deactivate the app per third party app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SystemCleanup.Inteks.org) the black screen comes on without time and date. So there is any other process that start when a magnet comes close to the S4 ?

Yes, of course the holder has magnets too so yeah I know its triggering that view but I thought that view could be fully disabled without a custom rom.
A custom rom is no solve for me right now.
The Question would be how the S View got removed in the roms then I could do the same for my stock rom.
Found out that the Hall Sensor triggers that but found nothing to disable or something like that.

Changing Lock Screen Un-Lock With Foxfi Installed

Does anyone have any idea how I can change the encryption method back to swipe using Foxfi? I've tried all methods in this thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743117&page=8 to no avail. When trying those methods and going back into security - encryption, all items except password are greyed out un-available.
I drive a truck with the phone in a cradle and I REALLY need to be able to go back to just swiping the screen to unlock when I am rolling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
VZW Galaxy S5 Retail Edition, rooted w/ SuperSU installed & knox disabled. Running Foxfi for wireless hotspot. Unless there is another way for me to make the hotspot work? Not on an 'everything' plan on old unlimited so I need to hack the hotspot.

Not sure where the problem lies because that method, while a pain in the ass, does work. Another way would be to install one of the ROMs that has the Verizon provisioning turned off, and then you can just use the built in hotspot toggle.

x2, or just install the Xposed framework, and X Tether, and remove FoxFi altogether. I mean, if you're already rooted, there's no real risk to the Xposed and X Tether that I have found. And SWIPE AWAY with it. I have been for a couple months now.
Found another quicker way to do this:
1. Goto google.com/android/devicemanager and locate your phone.
2. Click "Lock" and chose a new number password.
3. Type the new password on your phone and it will unlock.
4. Now it should let your change the lockscreen to anything, and foxfi will continue to work
Still working after restarting phone and using Foxfi

Found another quicker way to do this:
1. Goto google.com/android/devicemanager and locate your phone.
2. Click "Lock" and chose a new number password.
3. Type the new password on your phone and it will unlock.
4. Now it should let your change the lockscreen to anything, and foxfi will continue to work
