[GUIDE]How to get Lollipop Translucent Status Bars on EMUI3.1?(WITHOUT ROOT) - Honor 6, 6 Plus General

This guide can use for Huawei Honor 6 but no only! You can use it on any device with EMUI3.1!
This is the video guide:

This the English version, if you want to see Chinese version, you can look this http://jakting.com/archives/1578.html(Well, it is my BLOG:>)

IT IS JUST A WAY FOR UNROOTED PHONE, IF YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN ROOTED, JUST FLASH THIS ZIP AND ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQ4XeikVQ3kZGJDMWpuSGF0bDA/view?usp=sharing
All of us know, although EMUI3.1 is based on Android 5.1.1, WE CAN NOT SEE SOME LOLLIPOP FEATURES ON IT.
For example, we could not see Translucent Bars on some application which has been coded with Lollipop Translucent Bars, but only Kitkat Translucent Bars!
But now I found a way to let some apps which has Lollipop Translucent Bars show their NICE Translucent Bars!!!
Before telling you about that, I want to let you know: The way that EMUI shows "Translucent Bars" is just based on your wallpaper and make it like frosted glass. So if your wallpaper is black color, your Bars maybe looks grey...
Because of it, we can now let your Bars use Translucent Bars(The really Translucent Bars, but needs the apps has been coded with lollipop Translucent Bars):
THIS WAY DOES NOT NEED ROOT! IT JUST COSTS REALLY LITTLE TIME~
And you must know, almost all system apps' bars maybe look ugly, like this...
IMG:http://i.imgur.com/8ZwPLS4.jpg
What we should do, it just changes wallpapers twice!
IF YOU USE HUAWEI LAUNCHER, PLEASE LOOK [1]
IF YOU USE OTHER LAUNCHER(LIKE NOVA LAUNCHER), PLEASE LOOK [2]
And whenever you rebot your phone or change the theme, you should set it again!
The files you need: [emui3.1.png https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQ4XeikVQ3kU2ZNVW53UFQ4WDQ/view?usp=sharing] [emui3.1bg.png https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQ4XeikVQ3kVnh5UTBrS3F4aW8/view?usp=sharing]
This is an EMUI theme and it is by 841450457 from EMUI offical BBS(this theme works well but without Translucent Status Bars): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQ4XeikVQ3kRmdSZ19LblpiQ00/view?usp=sharing
[1]HUAWEI LAUNCHER
1. Download any Huawei theme and get .hwt file.
2. Use any unzip sofaware and unzip it.
3. Put emui3.1bg.png into it(I think you will now how to do it.), then zip again, make sure it likes before(Well, added a photo...), change its name to XXX.hwt
4. Put the new .hwt into (NOT SDCARD1) /sdcard/HWThemes(if there is not it, you must create one)
5. Open THEMES APP on your EMUI phone and change to the theme you changed before.
6. Open emui3.1.png with system library, and set it to the launcher wallpaper.
7. It maybe works, if not, do 1-6 again.
[2]OTHER LAUNCHER(LIKE NOVA LAUNCHER)
1. Change your launcher wallpaper to emui3.1bg.png.
2. Open emui3.1.png with system library, and set it to the system launcher wallpaper(For example, if you use Nova, you must make sure when you set wallpaper from system library, you must press "Nova wallpaper"(maybe these words, because I use Chinese System)).
3. It maybe works, if not, do 1-2 again.
Some photos after I do these (You will see Chinese)

@blasen01 @LuHash I will give you the theme this weekend if I remember... @acetone802000 @iHakimi @anton111180
Sorry about it, I have changed the download link from MEGA to Google Drive...

Just the png file is ok. No need to unzip and zip anything. Set the png file as desktop background, then the effect will be there with proper app. Try it with the google play, you should be able to tell that. I think any png file with the notification bar area be transparent should do the trick. But still, thanks for the guide.

I use Nova Launcher so I don't know if you use Huawei Launcher(isn't it?) what will happen when only use emui3.1.png.
Although all of you can just set emui3.1.png as a wallpaper, but when you back to the Launcher(In Nova, I don't know if it in another Launcher), you maybe see there is a black area covering the bars...

Where will I find the .png file?

Any transparent png will do, for example: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Transparent.png
You can also experiment with some other colors and the alpha levels to achieve different look, but from my experience 100% transparent looks the best.

This isn't the best thread for such question, but anyways, I have updated mine L02 to the official 5.1.1 rom and can't say I'm happy with it. I've been using it for a month already and I can tell you the battery life is much worse than on kitkat. Performance is also decreased a bit (fewer frames per second when emulating Nintendo 64 games). You don't have to unlock bootloader to install the update, no. Just put the dload folder on your sd card, the internal memory or even a usb stick and use a otg cable to install the update.

I'm not quite sure I got what you were saying. But yes, even with Huawei Launcher, when it was on desktop, the notification bar is non-transparent black. But when you were in GMAIL, INBOX etc., the notification bar would be transparent and in a color that defined by the app.
Today I tried to make my own wall paper, with the notification area be semi-transparent. With this new wallpaper, even on the desktop, and also in some app that has no this effect with a wallpaper that has totally transparent notification bar (like firefox, with the wall paper posted by the op, the bar would be black), the notification bar has semi-transparent effect.

Exactly. But I prefer semi-transparent.
Edit: With a semi-transparent notification area on the wallpaper, on the home page (desktop), there's even a gradual effect on the notification bar like the lock screen Anyway, the point is: you don't need to zip or unzip anything.

I'm guessing on your phone when you hit the menu key it doesn't show theme so go to settings/Home screen and it should be there.
Depends what you mean by theme. I am pretty sure the stock phone can really just change wallpaper and move icons around. With root access you can install the Xposed framework which allows much more customization which is probably what you want, and with custom launchers such as Nova or Apex you can also do wallpaper changes and run custom icon packs. But maybe the theme you saw was nothing more than some UCCW widgets, IDK since I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

The stock launcher on the G2 has a theme changer and comes with two themes that change icons, walls and the clock widget maybe more. So its basically good for changing icon packs and then just reset your wallpaper after you get the icons you like. Yes you can use Nova or whatever and customize icons to your hearts content but I prefer the LG launcher and I'm thrilled they added this.

Yea I love it, just wish it theme'd widgets but guess i will splurge on Beautiful Widgets/HD Widgets
(stock transparent clock-weather widget would be nice tho)
I'm on the at&t variant and I can't find the theme option anywhere either. I'm guessing they took it out. I can still change individual icons by holding the icon, tapping the purple brush that pops up, hitting Menu and selecting a theme I've installed from the previous thread and then they all show up for selection. This only works for individual icons though and will not help you change the app drawer button, which is the one I wanted to change.

Wow that sucks, makes no sense. I know carriers add bloat but didn't think they touch anything in a UI. This is the theme manager on the G2.

I've got nothing that says theme anywhere I assume it would be. Checked Home Settings and Menu on the Home Screen. Nothing. I'm really bummed about that. I wanted to change the app drawer button so badly. Damn.

Edit 2: Some things changed, like the blank screen text, but others didn't like the ability to theme. Weird. Maybe that isn't ready for the at&t version of that mod.

I don't think just flashing yours would work. It might but the guy needed all the files for the models he was building the mod for from the devices he was building for. I think it would need a little more than just swapping it.
And I tried that mod. No theme ability on the at&t version of the phone. Still.

I believe the international and Verizon version have the theme chooser, along with the Korean version. It allows you to switch to the Marshmellow stock theme, and others to come in the future. However, I think its apparent that the At&t version is missing this functionality. Would it be possible to add it back in an APK?

You'd probably have to wait for a dev to add it to their ROM
T-mobile version has it.
There's an internal application I found with system tuner called home chooser, don't think its enabled though. Anyone with another carrier version know if this is what were looking for?

Stock Wallpaper and Transparent Notification

I did a little research and wanted to know if I really have the right info regarding wallpapers and the notification bar.
Please: no need to tell me to root or to use an alternative launcher. I am well-versed in both, but I remain interested in staying stock and using the default laucher.
So, is it the case that:
- The only way to have a transparent notification bar (it looks great) is to use the stock, LG-supplied wallpaper?
- There is no way to add to the stock wallpaper collection?
Thanks in advance.
I have the exact same question as OP
I currently use Xposed and Gravitybox for transparent action bar (nav. bar) and status bar, but only for home screen mode. In lockscreen the bars show wallpaper of homescreen not set lockscreen wallpaper

Thanks ZenWan - but Xposed is only for rooted devices, right?
Although I have plenty of experience with rooting and custom ROMs on previous phones, I really want to keep my G2 completely stock.

There's ZOR over at the Theme's section who makes his own themes. Chose's his own wallpapers and icons and all and still has transparent as stock. I saw in one of a couple pages that he posted a link on to how he made them. that could be another way to achieve that. I myself wanted to keep but my impatience made me root; xposed and now i have that and way more options. are you afraid to void your warranty?

[Q] use nova launcher icons for lockscreen shortcuts?

Hi is there a way to use nova laucher icons for the lockscreen shortcuts?it always uses stock icons instead and it really bugs me lol
You can use unicon to set icon pack as default ... But it doesn't allow you the ability to set individual apps
Are you wanting to do this with AOSP or the stock ROM? With AOSP you could extract icons from whatever pack you wish to use. Make a new folder in SDcard/Pictures. And paste them there. After a reboot or two they'll show up. Then select them from the Gallery when choosing your custom lock screen icons. You can get really fancy and change the actual lock icon to match your other icons too. That requires a little more work though.
Not to be that guy but it is best practice to read thread stickies before posting.
If you can give us more info on your current setup, it would be helpful.

For the navigation bar icons you could use a new Xposed Module called Android L Navigation bar, works excellent
also, you can use the Android L preview Keyboard (no root needed) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?hl=es&id=uk.co.shenye.android.inputmethod.latin
Thanks for the link to the L preview keyboard. I have tried it on my 1st gen Nexus 7. It works fine, I tested it using English and Spanish. I have spent an hour going to and fro between the 4.4.2 keyboard and the L. I can find no difference in the swipe response, keyboard responsiveness etc. The L keyboard is missing the long press functions ie. long press "g" gets the "&" etc. I happen to use the long press functions quite a bit so the L keyboard is a disappointment in this respect. It looks l like the L keyboard is just a cosmetic change ATM. Maybe the final official release will get more improvements? A minor fault that I found that is the default keyboard color scheme cannot be changed, it's a minor detail. But I wanted to try changing the color scheme because the English/Spanish info in the space bar is very feint and harder to see on the standard L color scheme. The L "look" is cleaner, more Apple like, but I have decided to revert to using the 4.4.2 AOSP version.

No, you can change icons with nova launcher. Long press on an app on your homescreen and choose "edit". Then touch the current icon to choose a new one.
Bootanimation - https://mega.co.nz/#!Vx02xbhR!kZ2kfLxmgccUcxCEWMaDraOLKm1FyXSpwQ64v0iqWcY
Not a flashable zip
Backup and replace the original bootanimation.zip in /system/media/
Change the permission like the original one - rw/r/r
tinted status bar
To replicate it more you can install a xposed framework module called 'tinted status bar'. This allows your status bar adapt the color of the action bar, though android l uses a darker color for status bar compared to action bar. And yeah, you need root access!

Jolla launcher making it work

Just got the Jolla launcher ALPHA, I'm using it on my HTC one. I have issues with it right away. Most off the issues I have are that it is removing some of the functionality of Android while not letting us have the parts of Sailfish that would fill in those gaps. This thread is for those issues that can be fixed by installing an app or by some other simple method in Android, this way we cut down the amount of noise ending up in the devs baskets.
Here are my issues with the launcher:
How do I quickly turn on and off the Wi-Fi without widgets? Is there an app that will stick the WiFi in my status bar pull down?
Without my Soundabout widget that toggles my headphone jack on/off (because my jack is not recognizing input, it is a common issue for this phone) how can I turn on my jack?
I can't resize the app icons to fit more on each page. Is there an app that will do this or is this something that Jolla will have to allow for example in the pull down menu there could be a launcher settings.

You could try fiddling with the dpi value in the build.prop file, I believe there are a number of apps which can do this *more or less* safely. If you search through the XDA portal, they've had a post about it some time ago.
Btw I've tried to disable the nav bar by editting the build.prop file but that didn't work for me (using nexus 5), the way I did it was to use "Ultimate Dynamic Nav Bar lite", just to switch the nav bar off, then I uninstalled it, and it stuck. I use "Pie Control", as a go-between android app management, and the launcher.
I also disabled nav bar on my Huawei Ascend P6-U06 running AOSPA 4.4.4 by adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to build.prop and reboot for going to the launcher I just use the swipe gesture that comes with the launcher. It's an ALPHA but very stable I think.
I also noticed the occasional crash and this and that, but after all it runs okay on my Xperia Z1.
Have you guys found a way to change wallpapers?
I know there are 2 themes in the favorites by default, but I haven't found a way to change wallpapers the launcher itself. For now I have just decompiled the APK file and modified the included themes to have wallpapers I want to use.
By the way, the resolution in those default pictures are 1080x3200. No the easiest one to look pictures for
To replace my WiFi, BT and other toggles that are no longer there because of this launcher not having widgets. I installed the app "notification toggle" which lets you put toggles and apps in the Android status bar.

How to see notification? I have tried with swipe up,but Google search open . At that time I can see the notification bar, from there I can view my notification . And also what about the lock screen ?
@Dhiraj I don't understand.
This launcher has removed the contacts app icon from my apps screen. To get to contacts I have to go to phone and then contacts within that and using the back button that normally acts as a close app command in this launcher does not close it but minimizes it to the homescreen.

It works. The application has 2 wallpapers by default, so i can replace them for you if you want. Just reply me with the links/pictures attached and I can modify the APK for you ^^
You can also decompile it yourself.
You have to have 2 version of the picture you want. 1080x3200 and 270x800.
Go to assets/ambience and replace 92a267c5hp.jpg & fa9bfbdbhp.jpg with the 1080x3200 pictures and 92a267c5ap.jpg & fa9bfbdbap.jpg with 270x800 pictures. After that just recompile the apk, zipalign the apk and sign the apk. Then you can install the apk and have your own 2 pictures.
EDIt: I just took a look at one of the database files. I might be able to add themes and modify the names and highlight colors
If someone wants to try a "custom" theme: http://d-h.st/NmM
Differences:
-Has only one background image for now
-Custom colors and wallpaper
-Signed with my keys (You must remove the official before installing this one)
If anyone has 1080x3200 pictures, you can send them here and I can try to make custom APKs with matching ambiences ^^

This guide might help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891686
I am now modifying the apk, and I will link it to this post when I am done.
EDIT: http://d-h.st/UiP
There we go. I kind of missed the right ambience colors in the Tutorial theme. It seems aspect ratio of 27 : 80 makes the pictures to fit to screen perfectly.

There is also a file called ambience.sqlite in assets/ambience. I have modified it to load more images and to change ambience colors. I used firefox addon SQlite manager to modify it. I have not tried winzip for editing. I know that the signing can be pretty frustrating...

Hello ,
i Found beautiful High resolution WP on http://new.jollawalls.com/ . They are Made specially For Jolla .
Also Downloaded Your Modified APK with Five Wallpaper . I wanna ask you , that is it possible to develop extension or have option of just changing Wallpaper instead of De-Compiling APK and then Re-Compiling .

It is possible as far as I know, but I do not have enough knowledge to do that. It is also very probable that Jolla will add support for changeable wallpapers in the next alpha release.
At the moment they have partially implemented the code the get ambience colors from images, but they are using a database to store wallpaper information & ambience colors for now.

The launcher has folders in the app grid! Long press an app icon to go into edit mode then let go then grab it again and drop it on to another icon. Haven't had time to explore it further, break time is over for me.
New Wallpapers on Your Latest APK are Awesome .Also Unlike Default launcher , Color of Font changes with Wallpaper , esp for fonts in Notification Pulley . Overall it is Best version created so far by You . Thank for That
