BURG 12 "Smart" Watch - Other SmartWatches

I am slight irritated at this watch. I just purchased it, and only had to pay $29.00
Not a bad price, for something that I'm pretty much immediately irritated by.
The problem is with the "Two-Way" communication. With BURG offering no support for the device, and the device's app having been pulled from their now-defunct website, the "Two-Way" communication has immediately ceased being available. I cannot, for the life of me, find a download for this app.
With that much out of the way, I have to ask: What CAN I use the Burg 12 for? It's functional as a watch and a radio, but its touted functions are unusable.

I have the app you need just text me when you see this I'm not on here much 2185762487 names john

it will not let me add the link
Says I haven't posted enough will someone please text me and I'll give you the link to post I have had about 50 messages in 2 days for this damn app

Official word from my T-mobile rep on how the tethering block works

Hi all, iv seen a couple posts recently about the tethering block. I haven't read through them all so im not sure if this info has been posted yet so ill post it just in case.
This comes from my T-mobile rep who overseas all of Florida and part of Georgia (im a Radioshack employee). Basically you have 100mb of free tethering every month. When you get close to the 100mb you get a text, when you hit 100mb they redirect you to a page telling you to buy tethering. They can tell if you are tethering or not based on the type of browser you are using. So make sure your phone browser is set to "Android" or what have you.
This seems pretty reasonable to me, if you just want to check email or whatever on a vacation they aren't gonna force you to pay just for that. But if your gonna be a data hog they charge you, but only half what sprint does. And I like that they are implementing this without any kind of tethering "app" like sprint, they're just letting android 2.2 do its thing.
The only thing I don't like is that you can no longer set your phone browser to "desktop" mode, but I don't really see how else they could do it?

Squid won't help. It's a pure proxy, which won't do anything. PRIVOXY will do the job though, not only is it lighter, it is designed for this.

Thanks for the insight.
So you are saying if you set your user agent on your browser on your phone to "desktop" they automatically classify it as tethering? That is bs. There has been talk in a few threads of user agent spoofing when tethering, which sounds like it is still a viable alternative to tethering without tmobile knowing.
I for one do not appreciate not being able to browse the full internet on my phone without getting cut off due to tethering. I do not mind viewing some web pages in mobile view, but many just are not the same. Doesn't this also defeat the purpose of having flash player support?

I don't find it reasonable at all.
It's their company and if they want to block tethering that is their business but blocking people who are using their own phones because they are not using the android user agent is ridiculous.
I realize it's the "easy" way for them to do it but that doesn't make it right nor should we accept it.
Our phones no longer require a "mobile" browser so why should we be forced to be redirected to mobile sites?
As far as any other way to do it, they could write code to do it, sure those of us that root and flash would get around it but their aims are to stop the masses from tethering and getting some revenue out of it.
It's not really my concern how they do it, I just know they shouldn't be allowing people to write custom applications, such as browsers and then telling them oh yea, sorry you are blocked for thethering when you aren't tethering.
Well that sucks

While I fully agree and I think Tmo is just taking the easy way out here, it's also worth it to recognize that

is more of a problem with website programmers automatically redirecting Android phones to mobile sites instead of giving us the default page. Tmo doesn't have anything to do with how those websites react to different UAs.
It would be nice if there was another user agent that Tmo still recognized as a mobile phone, but websites recognized as a desktop. That way we wouldn't have to piggyback on the "desktop" agent.
Mmmm, what tethering block?
Been going strong for two weeks (not continuously) on both my lines - no texts, no blocks, no nothing.
Edit: In fact, I'm typing this message tethered on my G1 through USB.
That might be the trick. Tether using the G1 only.
I find this to be total crap to be honest. I tether nearly every single day with stock wifi tethering app with no message , text, or redirect. I'm on a rooted G2 using different roms everyday. I use Chrome with stock everything on it also.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, its bloody open source, you can make it play the piano! But you don't use a CASE 580 BACKHOE to stir your coffee! You use something LIGHTER that is INTENDED for the task -- a TEASPOON!

Definitely NOT. This has NOTHING to do with the specific device being used, and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that they roll out big changes in small steps --- so they don't get inundated with ALL of their customers calling in and complaining about the same thing at the same time.
So we can tether to iPhones and other Android phones all we want? As soon as I walk into work everybody asks me to turn on tethering so they can mooch off of my 4g speeds lol...
net neutrality shoots huge holes in the idea of filtering tethered devices. if they filter tethered devices, they are no longer neutral.
your isp really doesn't want that, make sure they know, that YOU KNOW.

Just got one of these last week. I have had 0 luck searching everywhere for a custom ROM, etc.
Basically, just want to echo what the poster above said. Can someone make this happen??
Me too, it works fine but lake of apps or face, hope some of the XDA developers can create some ROMs.
me four
Love the watch but disappointed I can't find anything about changing or adding faces or adding apk's or roms or anything for the watch. This is very disappointing as the watch is awesome, allowing to be a true phone or bt paired and has a micro sd card to add music etc. would love to add or change the watch faces but can't find anything about it... usually get allot of great responses and quick actions here. But, don't see any heavy's weighing in so that is disappointing as well.
Come on coders, crackers, help us out here.... no luck finding any Chinese help... that part too is disappointing. You would think they would understand that supporting these cheap products could actually really help them rule the world and bring down the apple's etc. They have some great cheap products, they just need to stand them up with folks who can answer these questions and provide English answers and programs etc.... rom's, etc... Apple and Samsung etc. would not be able to compete if they did....
If anyone has any info on how to root, or add apk's and or change and add watch faces etc... let me know.... I can't even figure out how to connect it to play store etc...
thanks

You will never see a custom ROM for this watch. Here's why;
Doesn't run Android
Has a single core 533mhz CPU that's something like three years old
128MB space for apps/call logs/text logs/contacts
64MB ROM partition
Runs a JRE OS like what you would find on flip phones
So you can't root it, build a custom recovery for it, make custom ROMS, install any Android apps. What you see is what you get and nothing more.
Damn...I would kill to have NoLED or something similar on it

Your phone it is part of a big family of "clones", it is a mtk6260A so theoretically any firmware coming from it has to work on your phone, each of them delivering a totally different theme, watch faces set and even slightly different functions - GT08, GV08, Iradish Y6, ZGPAX S28, Teclast T11 and these are just few are coming right now in my mind, the list in fact is really huge... installing a new firmware takes no more than bit less than a minute so... go for it
Note: don't forget to do a full recovery backup of your own firmware before to flash any new things on your phone!!! (I mean it, take it in a very serious way)
Hi can any one help me to get the ORIGINAL firmware for this smartwatch? DZ09 with CPU MTK6260A any help would be great!
P.S. there's rom/firmwares for the MTK6260 without the "A" they can be loaded on the mtk6260A BUT my touchscreen is not working and the watch goes to an blank screen as standby mode.
