FYI - Fastboot Protocoi Error - Nexus 5X General

I was having an incredibly hard time flashing an image via fastboot, until I realized that my USB 3.1 GEN1 type A to type C cable didn't work well when plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I suppose it might have something to do with the N5X only supporting USB 2.0 or maybe it's a funky cable. I thought that I had indeed broken my phone on day 1.
At any rate, once I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port, fastboot is working just fine. I hope this saves someone from panic, crying, and the inevitable rage quiting.

How to USE The MOTO Factory Cable for Kindle Fire

Issue:
If your kindle fire is black brick after flashing firmware. The KF can not show any content.
for this case, the boot-loader is broken. It must be re-flashed again.
the usbboot must under linux environment such as ubuntu OS.
solution:
you can use usbboot tools with MOTO factory cable. below is the command.
SORRY, FOR this thing, I mistake the cable mode. The cable is KINDLE FIRE FACTORY CABLE. The cable mode is OTG
Code:
usbboot aboot.bin u-boot.bin
after flashing bootloader, the KF will boot up.
If you want to get the usbboot, please see the attachment.
updated post infomation:
The OMAP 4430 can boot from usb otg port.so,I think the usbboot programm can be used under normal usb cable or otg mode cable. but someone told me it must short one pin to the ground for booting.but I don't think so.
so, I just want to get one really black brick(no bootloader at all or bootloader broken). It's not battery empty case.because the battery is empty, the system is unstable. And you can find most problem. such as always restarting, always show fire logo or fastboot command can not operate. If you have battery empty case, please charge your battery use the normal cable. The charging period is about six hours. The charger must be 950ma charging current. Most problem can be solved!
If you have bootloader failed case, you can verify it. Really power off your KINDLE FIRE at first. second step is run the usbboot programm under ubuntu.and then plug in the normal usb cable or OTG MODE cable(USB ID pin short to ground) not factory cable.
additionally, I think most case it belong battery voltage is too low. Most interesting case is battery issue. If you KF battery voltage is less than 3.5v or less. using the factory cable just force power on and enter fastboot mode.NO other special function. If you KF battery voltage is 0v,then the PC usb port can support 5v 500ma MAX.The current can not support power on with the LCD. but The PCBA can be boot up without LCD by the usb port current.so, you must use the normal cable to charge you kindle fire at first. The second step is use factory cable to fix your kindle fire.it's important.

You mean no short-trick? Correct me if I'm wrong but AFAIK, MOTO factory cable is just an ordinary one, and it only works if you have a valid bootloader.

if the OMAP 4430 can not boot, You must be short the boot up pin to ground. you can use the moto factory cable to usbboot the correct bootloader.bin(flash it).Maybe normal cable do this, but i did not verify this things. I just use the factory cable to usbboot the bootloader.bin(flash it).
ur bootloader wasn't messes up, cuz a factory cable would not work unless ur bootloader was okay.
usbboot only works with shorting it with rear cover removed.

Did you try other factory cable? it's OTG mode. The Kindle fire boot under OTG mode.

[Q] USB Mount or Mass Storage not working on MT4G

The probem:
USB Mass Storage not working in Recovery. I tried everything, reflashing different recovery but its not working, it doesn't give an error message. When card is not inside however it does complain. SdCard is fine because I can flash zips that are on it. Tested on both windows and ubuntu. tried another card as well
USB Mount doesn't work in CM7.2 or any rom or nand restore i've done recently. I had Insomnia at some point, then inferno, then cm 7.1, none of these restores work. Again here no errors, I do not even see the sign for usb detection. usb debugging is enabled/disabled no difference. phone however still charges though.
I'm on a trip right now, but I've not had the chance yet to get another usb cable but the two I have dont work.

He has tried two cables, so I would tend to lean toward the port.

i am in the same boat. looks like my charging port is bad. anyway to replace the charging port? i am not good with soldering
it's not ur usb port
it's htc.. htc devices doesn't support usb host feature.
If you have a rom and kernal that do support usb host then try powering the usb as the htc devices do not provide power out.. use usb Y cable

What? He isn't trying to host the connection. He is trying to use his phone as a USB mass storage device.
Where did you get USB host from in his questions?

Hi all,
I am having the same problem, except perhaps with a different cause. My user account on Windows 7 became corrupt and I can no longer log in, so I had to create a new one.
On the new account, my myTouch 4G is not recognized for mass storage/disk drive mode via USB. The USB cable does work, the port is okay, and I've used both with other devices. The myTouch shows as charging when connected to the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of the myTouch drivers, restarted computer and phone, to no avail.
When it is connected in USB, it shows as generic "Drive F" and is inaccessible. When I check properties it says mytouch4g. When I check "Devices" it is recognized as portable storage. I have tried with USB debugging on and off, and have set "connected to computer" mode to disk drive.
Any thoughts? I thought possibly loading the generic ADB driver again might help, but I cannot get to the stage where I can force it to load that driver instead of the HTC one.

Fastboot freezes when USB plugged in

I am able to get into bootloader. however, the problem is that whenever the USB cable is plugged in, the buttons don't navigate through the options. whenever the USB cable is NOT plugged in (and reboot bootloader) the button work just fine.
I don't have a recovery currently installed.
the issue is not with drivers on the computer or the usb cable...
happens while USB plugged in windows, linux or simply just plugged into a wall outlet to charge.
I need to get into fastboot but i'm having this issue with the bootloader (corrupted?).
any help would be appreciated.
bootloader version 3.34
nexus 7 (grouper)
It should work with the original cable, but other cables may or may not work. If you are using the original, try a different usb cable. Also, try other usb ports or another computer.

USB error 43, can't figure it out.

My AT&T sgh 1337 Galaxy s4 has been a great phone, it was Loki'd back before the bootloader lock OTA's hit and I've been running CM11's latest milestone releases.
Lately I have had issue with my USB jack. When I would plug it in, I would just get an Error code 43 Unknown Device in windows, no device detected in linux & mac. I tried 3 different USB cables. I cleaned out the USB jack, didn't help. I did notice the interior of the jack was a bit worn and torn. It charges fine.
I went ahead and ordered a new USB jack/microphone board, verified the new part is specific and exact to the sgh-1337 model and installed it.
Plugged into a charger and tested, charging works, ~1300 mah draw on a 1.4amp charger. Looks good.
Plugged into a PC and immediately got Error code 43 USB device unrecognized. Still doesn't work. I changed USB modes in Settings>Storage>menu and, nothing. I enabled and disabled USB debugging several times. I've tested my machine with all samsung & ADB drivers installed and fresh machines, nothing. (Windows made the USB connect/disconnect sound between switching modes every time)
I installed Drivedroid (very sweet app for hosting disk images over USB) and used its settings panel to change USB modes, every single USB mode reports error 43.
Booting up into Recovery and mounting USB mass storage mode, same thing Error 43.
Booting into Download mode: Error 43.
USB OTG cable with mouse plugged in: nothing.
Is it possible that the USB controller on my phone's main board died? I hope not, that's unfortunate. It'd be hard to find a bootloader-unlocked motherboard replacement.
I read that an HTC user had the exact same problem, he reflashed his bootloader image from SD card and BAM, usb came alive again. I don't think that'd be a possibility with a samsung device though... hmm. Bummer, anyone think they can help?
I appreciate you reading.
wow, sorry to here that--could be hardware, you did about everything you could do--
Here are Google links which I am sure you already looked into
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=usb+code+error+43+fix
Wild ideas--wipe your internal, reformat external or boot without it
Odin the MDL tar back to stock, keeping same bootloader
Odin and upgrade to NC1 with new bootloader
Use wifi apps for transfers
Not much help I know--just throwing stuff out there--:good:
Good Luck
Worst case lots of new phones out this fall--

Phone won't charge at anything above 500mA, can't connect USB ADB/fastboot

Currently running Lineage 14.-20170403-NIGHTLY-clark, Android 7.1.1.
The phone refuses to charge above 500mA. I want to try flashing the new Lineage 17 image, but the firmware is too old. When I discovered that issue, I tried to connect it to my computer to fastboot flash it, but the computer won't find the device. I've tried multiple cables and USB ports with no success. I have another xt1575 that *does* connect via fastboot, so I know the computer itself is fine (that one has other issues). I've tried cleaning the USB port on the phone with a toothpick, but it hasn't made a difference.
Any ideas? Do I need to take a cleaner solution to the contacts? Is there a better technique to the toothpick cleaning than just kind of raking it across the back of the port and pulling out lint?
