From HTC One (M7) to Nexus 6P - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
I'm going from a rooted HTC One (M7) to the Nexus 6P very soon, and I have absolutely loved my One's silver/aluminum build and would like to get the 6P with the closest color to it.
Would that be the lighter aluminum color, or the darker one? (Obviously, it's not the darkest of the three...)
Thanks! Just trying to get what I want from this phone, and any feedback from anyone who has any of the phones above (6P Silver, 6P White, and/or HTC One (M7)) would be greatly appreciated!

The aluminium color, I would think. I've heard the graphite color is very dark. I've heard the white doesn't feel like naked metal either.

From M7 to N6p, that's an excellent jump. M7 was a great phone, best of HTC years ago
I came from M7, M8, N6 then N6p

I thought something similar. Actually, what I thought was "OMFG, a M7? He still uses that? GO! Go get your N6P NOW! Don't stop at red lights! FFS..."
But I may not have as fond of memories of the M7 as others may have had.

Haha! My One is working perfectly to this day and the main reason I'm upgrading is because I want stock Android without mods instead of only being able to flash ROMs with way more features than I want or need. Call me a perfectionist or a purist, but my M7 would last me way longer if I wasn't a needy prude about it! Haha!

I thought the aluminum looks the most like the M7 in terms of coloring. Would that be a fair assessment?

Well, I think I've made my decision to go with the aluminum 64GB model. Thanks for all of your replies! It's greatly appreciated.

m8 Harmon Kardon here. honestly this is the best phone I've ever owned.. but as solid as this phone is, time for 64 bit with some qhd. so I upgraded to the 64gb note 5, which was nice as hell, but there just isn't any development going on w it, think most ppl skipped on it. nexus 6p is, well, a nexus.. so sure to be bursting with custom everything. returned note 5, ordered 6p on Oct 10. have to wait until Nov 18-20 for delivery. gonna kill me. m8 should have some fluffy ports coming before then though

I'm buying a Nexus One

I found a brand new one on Craigslist for 300 bucks, will be picking it up tomorrow, I think I'll be keeping the Nexus S as well, unless the Nexus One just blows my mind somehow lol..
I don't think it will no true multi touch
I've never actually used a Nexus One, but am I the only one who think it's ugly as sin? I'd be turned off to it simply by aesthetics.
I've always loved the way the Nexus One looks!

i never purchased one because of that, it's hideous, and there are not enough after market full body case swaps options for it
the skins are too much work, and cost too much
I was enamored of the N1's appearance when it first came out, but not so much any more. The NS is much "sexier" in my opinion.
Why do you want an N1 now? It's over a year old in design, and has some serious hardware flaws in my opinion. The display and especially the touchscreen and capacitive buttons are all problematic in one way or another (can't see screen outdoors, can't do multitouch accurately, capacitive menu buttons misaligned.) The camera also puts a nice pink blur on every pic you take.
If you can get past those hardware flaws, it's not a bad phone otherwise. The sound quality is good on calls and the 3G speeds are really good. There's also a ton of software support with custom roms and mods and other hacks.
Surprised you could actually find one "new" this late in the game.

New Device:Suggestions?

Hello all,
I'm planning to get a new device.
Is nexus 4 good on hardware given that it's made by lg?
Should I buy htc one x+ or galaxy s3 instead?
What are your recommendations?
I can afford upto 30k or 550_600$.
HTC One costs around 43k,if you can afford that much then I would really recommend it.Nexus 4 would be a good choice too.
Oops I meant to say htc one x+

I had the same thing in mind.
But it has a better interface, processor and beats audio.
I don't care for most if these but has lg made a good hardware for the nexus 4???
Btw nexus 4 arriving here in a week
Agreed, sense will always have a better ui than anything in the world
Don't care about the beats audio, have seen ppl using other mods despite having beats audio.
Lg is a good company,we don't see it as a cell phone manufacturer,do we?
And you mean,you've ordered n4?

What you mean by hardware?
Build quality?
Yes
Then Slymobi must have something to say about it.Nexus 4 to me looks good, has a much better build quality than any of the Samsung devices.
I'd go for the N4. Purely because your getting a pure google handset, with new updates guaranteed (unlike HTC. Who sometimes cancel or don't even bother to update devices), you'll also get something that's easy to BL unlock, root and experiment with. And being a nexus device, I'm sure there would be a lot try out!

The build quality is just great! Just the speakers and the camera are not as good as the HTC one's. I had both phones One and Nexus and this glass look looks just so much better than the "plastic" from the HTC One X. And it's also easier to root than the HTC phone. It was a pain in the ass to root the One X and to flash ROMs on it. The Nexus is definitly the better choice also in relation to the money,
I'd get the nexus 4. I already have a nexus 4 and it is brilliant. It feels more premium than the galaxy s3 and the htc one x+. Plus it is easier to root and will have excellent developer support. You also get the newest updates from Google themselves.
I have the one x, great device, doesnt feel "cheap" at all, n4, while having more "premium" feeling also can break more easy so keep that in mind.
Also, hox is easy to root, dont know why is everyone saying its hard lol.

Ive seen it. Frankly Id prefer android!
The hardware of the N4 is amazing for the price. Fastest phone I've ever used for sure. For value/speed, nothing comes close.
The glass back is fragile so just make sure you purchase the right protection.
Jellybean 4.2 is so good you could use it without the need for rooting

Never happened to me...strange. I think the 4.2.2 update solved this issiue for the most people. I think that happens to maybe 1 of 1000 N4 devices. And if yours is affected you can send it back and order a new N4.
You can still choose the HOX its also a nice device and it has almost no bugs but its got that crappy Tegra processor which seems to be not very familiar with the android system itself and some Gameloft games.

Looking for advice for a phone

Hey guys / gals, I know this is the G2 forum, but looking for advice. Getting my son (middle school) a phone and want to get him something nice. I have the HTC One and love it, but wondering if this would be a better phone (technology) wise. Curious your opinions... Especially if you have owned multiple phones before the G2...
Technology... size (is this too big for a young kid)...etc. Thanks everyone

Stock LG UI / ROM is actually damn good. Being a previous flash mod junkie, I don't even care to leave stock.

The G2 might be a little too high spec for a kid in middle school.
I would honestly recommend the Moto X. He could customize it to his liking and it won't put a dent in your wallet. Its a good size, top of the line technology and the specs are just about right. The UI is sleek.
Anyways thats what I would do in your position. Happy shopping.:good:
LG UI is probably one of the nicer stock UI's (IMO). I've used most of them.

The more I look at this device..

The more I want it.. haha I was going to pass on the M9 this year but the more I look at it the more I want it.. I just can't afford it right now Hopefully in a couple months I can. AT&T is charging 700 full price for it The developer is 650 which is a much better option..My wheels are spinning thinking how I could swing it.. hahah
I just wish they didn't do away with GPE so I could do a conversion for the m9 as well
I'm in the same boat. I was gonna pass,or at least wait a few months and pick up a used one.
But I'm starting to rethink it,lol

Feel the same way. Especially since a lot of what ails the phone should be fixed by software tweaks (camera, battery, etc). Trying my best not to hit buy for something that is clearly still half-baked even with the latest updates.

It would feel un-natural not to get one..haha I had the M7, the M8.. Just would have to think of new dev projects to do with it since the GPE program is no more.. I guess I could try to port a M8 GPE rom for it but that might take some work..

I went the Paypal 12 months interest free plan. Ordered the Developers Edition Gunmetal @ 7AM ($700 with tax and 2 day shipping)
Got the sorry your phone is on backorder email @ 9:30 am. I'm not sure if only the DE phones got that, or all the orders got that. Did anyone that ordered today actually get a confirmation their phone was shipping ?
I'll sell my M8 and M7 now to help offset the price, If they ever ship

M7 + m8 = m9
Definitely getting myself a m9 indeed. Just checked it out and it feels awesome.
An awesome week spent with M9 - all backdraws of M7 and M8 are gone = the perfect phone !!!
Even after the massive slagging this phone took after it's MWC announcement, I wanted it. This would have been my 5th HTC android phone in the last 5 years (including the M7 and M8), so it just seemed natural.
Then came Anandtech.
I can accept that the 810 is a bit of a bandaid for Qualcomm. I can even handle the fact that the camera isn't as good as the competition. But when HTC cheaped out on the display, which is arguably the most important part of the phone, that was just as slap in the face. I've swallowed the bitter pill that there is no software update that can fix the lack of PSR, and am genially sad that I'm not going to get this.
I suggest you see it for yourself ,most people who have got the device early reported the screen is excellent

I must get it. Hahah I can't believe the dev edition is cheaper than the att version at full price. I'm trying to raise the money now so I can get one. I only have $649 left to raise. Hahahhah
Edit just realized htc has the att version for 649 as well. But att told me it was 700. Him any rate. Need this phone. Hahah

It may well be good, and it could possibly be great with software calibration in the updates. But nothings going to address the lack of PSR, which is a shame. The battery life is just not going to be what it should.

The design isn't that bad actually. It is different, but I like it. The screen is really spacious and its a fast device. The stock ROM isn't half had either, but I don't like the bkoat carriers ship it with
Personally though, I'd wait. Right now I'd say it is the best device you can buy, but others are planned ftom other OEMs
