Custom watch faces on iOS app - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have tried my best to search around for information regarding the possibility of ever getting the ability to create custom watch faces using an iPhone and the iOS Android Wear app. I once had watchmaker installed on my android phone and had created some great watch faces and would love to get them back. Is there a watchmaker app in the works for iOS? Is there currently a possibility to get this working now? Or are we forever stuck with the stock watch faces we have within the iOS version of android wear.
I sincerely appreciate your help on this.
Best regards,
Ryan.

Android Wear in AOSP/OpenSource?

Hello,
I just wanted to know if the Android Wear Project is also getting open source, cause we have so many Smartwatches that are allready based on Android (Gear, Moto Actv,...) so porting Android Wear over to them is not the hardest thing.
If you find something, please let me know!
Regards
Yes, IMO a VERY important question that hasn't been answered yet.
I would be concerned that Google felt it was TOO open with Android proper and tried to restrict Wear even more.
If the current preview emulator is a good indication, then Wear is just another variant of Android. Many normal apps can run on it right now, though with issues. I tested my own app and it more or less worked, with a squished UI.
So I think a LOT of the Wear code is effectively already IN AOSP already.
But will Google release enough Wear specific code for custom ROMs to be built ? I very much hope so.
i
That will be gr8
custom launchers
like wht devs did on galaxy gear (they installed nova launcher on it)
or using custom keyboard like minuum beside voice input.

Prayer is the only remote hope you have, I think.
There are reasons Gears are going cheap now.
You really think Samsung won't take every opportunity to sell you new wearables, EVERY year at least ?
EVERY few months, new, "in fashion" designs.
Every year, moar cores, LOL.

Android wear without wear
Couldn't we just built a custom android wear version which is based on one of the regular open source android versions? Like e.g. android kitkat with a special launcher and a way to display notifications similar to android wear

IMO they're going to need to for it to be usable by the pro-android anti-google crowd.
I have the LG G Watch and I have it unlocked with TWRP and a custom ROM on it. However it still can't connect to my phone unless I have a Google account on it, so I can use the Play Store to download the Android Wear app and connect it via Bluetooth.
So I figured "fine whatever, I'll just put it in airplane mode and use it as a regular watch until someone comes up with an Open Source solution" right?
Wrong, turns out I CAN'T EVEN CHANGE THE TIME! It updates that from the phone which updates from the time servers on the net. Good thing I have an older phone that I can stick Google on to work with it I guess.
All I want is my texts on my watch without having to get spied upon by the almighty Google.
Also, they should call it AWOSP because it sounds awesome.

Is there a cheap AndroidWear watch available yet?

Hi all,
I am after a smart watch, but primarily to use different watchfaces with it. I am not after all notifications, calling and other features. Initially wanted to get a known Android Wear brands but the cost put me off.
So I went with a D5 initially but soon realized it limits me to use watch faces ( watchmaker and Facer Pro) as those are only for Android wear and they need to be mutilated and converted to a format the watch can recognize and etc.
Now I am trying to find a cheap Android Wear (or whatever watch supports watch maker faces), and I am not keen to pay $200-300 mark for just that feature. Have Chinese managed to up their games and make a real AndroidWear at low cost?
I saw there will be ELE watch but not sure when it is released.
Any help is appreciated
There's at least one I know of but the Chinese Wear based smartwatches are Chinese only language with mostly Chinese only apps.

Thanks, Apparently they released an English version, but I believe it is not Android Wear but some dedicated OS by the company, I might be wrong
The tic watch recently had an ota update that now has English language as an option. If you look at what the watch offers for the $150 price its a pretty good deal. The only thing I hope is that Google now services will be an option hopefully in the future.
The OS is a bases in android 5.1 to look like android wear but optimized for the watch with an option to load and use android wear apps which is pretty cool.

yes it do support watchmakers but with conditions:
1. you need to switch on the AW compatible mode (which is now AWC compatible mode)
2. you need to manually extracted out the android wear apk from watchmaker apk and sideload it to your watch

Is it possible to flash Android Wear onto GT08?

Hi,
Today is my birthday, and my girlfriend got me a cheap smartwatch. I'm happy with the sediment behind the gift, believe me I am. However, there are a few things that caught my attention:
The proprietary android app (used to push notifications and such) has advertisements.
It is possible to flash firmware onto the GT08.
So I was wondering, is it possible to flash stock android wear (or close to stock) onto this watch? If so, could someone direct me to a guide? I would be happy if I could use the Android Wear app instead of this ad ridden thing by the manufacturers.
Thank you in advance.
I'm in the exact same position as this person... can anyone help? Please :fingers-crossed:

Yes, Me to!
Simple Answer is No. Even with old Android Wear like Sony SW3 (deprecated) nobody can made an updated OS

1) yes -- dev / programmer
2) yes -- proprietory equipment / software required.
It's cheaper just to buy a better watch if you 'HAVE' to have those capabilities.
I have a 'timemaker' from amazon watch, its decent, and it works as a watch. Sleep not so accurate, hr not so accurate as my table has a pulse of 160 (should really relax a bit) it does not count steps very well.
troublebshooting 'nameless' brands is always a challenge and most mod apps will not work.
So in short if modding is what you 'NEED' get a brand name watch; asus, samsung xiomi etc.
If a good estimate of your lifestyme (sleep, hr, steps) is good enough, then the no name is fine.
Always read reviews and check out companion app reviews before purchase (I'd have recommended a different one as the first one had to be sent back)

Which watch for testing in development?

Hello,
i would like to know some low budget smartwatches that could be used for app devleopment/testing. I am starting out with a simple app, but can't decide which watch to get to test. I am looking at Xiaomi, but am not sure what exactly to look for. Is for example the amazift bip good enough/ does it even support/allow custom apps?
Any info on this matter is highly appreciated.
I have an Amazfit BIP. I don't think you have custom apps for it, but it is possible to write custom watchfaces.
If you want something really cheap, go for a "Q50" kids watch. No app on the watch, but you can write an app on android using the traccar project from github.
If you want something useful - also in terms of experience in programming - then go for android (Wear OS). But it's significantly more expensive.

Move Galaxy Play Store Watch Faces to Wear OS

Hi - With the Galaxy Watch 5 pro coming out I'm considering switching to it from my Galaxy Watch 3. However, I want to try to "save" (transfer) my tizen based watch faces to Wear OS. These have all been downloaded from the Galaxy Play Store. Is there a way to do this? Any help would be *greatly* appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry to say but you can't do this. Different OS and Store. some developer rebuild watchface from Tizen to Wear OS and of course there will be a little different because using different software development too.
Like mentioned before this isnt possible, but i would recomend looking into facer.
Ok Thank you both for your replies!
