Looking for Testers with the T817 model to test new root hack.(tested and working) - Galaxy Tab S2 General

NOTE: NOW CONFIRMED TESTED AND WORKING FOR THE T817T/W AND T817P MODELS.
Looking for testers with the T817 model (no ATT or Verizon models) to test a new hack to get root on Samsung stock SElinux Enforcing kernels running Android 5.11 or Android 6.0.
This means the kernel will be stock, so LTE will be unaffected.
Basically what this is about:
Chainfire has released new beta's of Supersu, the latest is 2.52. This new release can root Samsung 5.1.1 roms and Android 6.0 Marshmallow roms.
However to accomplish this a patch needs to be applied to the kernel Ramdisk to allow root with stock kernels.
What does this mean? This means if you have a T817 running Lollipop 5.1.1 then you can gain root and retain LTE connectivity as it uses the stock kernel instead of having to flash a permissive T810 wifi only kernel.
I need someone willing to test the patched Ramdisk and kernel on their device which has 5.1.1 installed.
The procedure is fairly simple all that is required is to flash the new boot.img, then root with Supersu v2.52.

Here is the patched boot.img for anyone that wants to test it.
*It goes without saying make a back up with TWRP first! *
FOR SM-T817T/T817W
Extract the boot.img from the zip then Install with TWRP:
Tab_S2_t817_boot.zip
FOR SM-T817P
Extract the boot.img from the zip then Install with TWRP:
Tab_S2_T817P_boot.zip
Then root with BETA-SuperSU-v2.52 using TWRP

I have a t817p I would be happy to test, how do I install twrp without root though?

If you have an SM-T817P I will upload a specific boot.img for you.
You dont need root to install TWRP, just install with ODIN.
Install with TWRP: Tab_S2_T817P_boot.zip
Stock Recovery if required: T817PVPU1AOH6_recovery

Flashed it, and I'm getting LTE

So we can say we have success?
You are the first one to have root and LTE on a 5.1.1 S2 tablet!

Just to be sure, this does work with the Tmobile T817T, correct?
Edit: found answer.

You have to flash twrp first. You will find my builds of TWRP in the development section.
Flash the 5.1.1 t810 version.

That message is normal.
What you have to do is after flashing twrp you need to directly boot into twrp to prevent the stock recovery overwriting it.
Flash twrp again but disable auto reboot in Odin.
After flashing reboot by holding POWER + HOME +VOL DOWN then as soon as the screen goes blank immediately change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons.

i did that, still booted into system not twrp

still no twrp. just goes to stock. I have tried both times with autoreboot off, once with f reset checked and another with f reset unchecked.

Honestly this is purely about timing. Plenty have already done it with the same device as you.
As long as you are flashing the correct twrp file then you should be good after following the advice above.
Can you flash twrp then post me a screenshot of odin?

TWRP will not work on the OTA, yet. However, there is a working CWM in the HD forum. I flashed it to my M and have zero issues with it.

I flashed the CWM recovery too...it does boot to recovery
but it seems to be some problem with CM11 package, the assert check shows my device ID is empty so the recovery just abort the installation.

CM11 won't work if you've updated. Apparently, the boot loader is updated and the ROMs haven't been updated for it.

You have an unlocked BL, just flash SU to get root, and delete/freeze apps. That's pretty much what I did and used Xposed on top of that.
I haven't tried it yet, buy couldn't you just rsd back to an earlier build then flash your custom ROM?

I fastboot flash the lastest CWM recovery, but it didn't work for the CM 4.4.2 ROM, and twrp, it didn't work again. why? does the VFW rom change something?

It means that none of the ROMs out right now will work with the new CWM. Also, quit trying flash TWRP. TWRP is not compatible with the new KK, yet.

My xt907 Has the OTA 4.4 update and an unlocked BL. I don't have a custom recovery installed anymore. Is it possible to flash SU or superuser and get root with fastboot. If so. Please help! Thanks. I'm ok with flashing CWN if need be. I just want root to install a Xposed and remove bloatware.

I'm pretty sure you can use fastboot/ADB to sideload zips, though I'm not super familiar with the commands so I wouldn't know how to explain it to you.
I am familiar enough with the commands, but I am unable to find the zips to flash. any help would be great.

I was one of the people who thought it would be cool to update to the OTA immediately without waiting and reading... I got the CWM recovery going and rooted stock 4.2.2 , but I really cant wait for TWRP to get updated so I can get back to my Rom, or really any supported Rom would be better then stock. I have only myself to blame.

Rooting Stock XT1575 MM

Hey guys. Im running stock MM with unlocked bootloader. I was able to flash twrp on but when I try to install superuser 2.46 through twrp I am stuck at the logo screen when I reboot. Is there something else that needs to be done to root this phone?
I also noticed that every time I boot into twrp it prompts me with the "keep system read only?" dialog. I "allow modifications" every time.
I used a systemless root on M. BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-20151210170034 for sure works.

Not really. I think the automation is changing in the newer versions. 2.65 tries to decide between systemless and traditional root somehow. 2.62 definitely works on the mxpe. I've heard 2.64+ do not.
How were you able to flash twrp on MM? I have tried the guides and have not been able to boot into recovery. Any advise?

The only real trick I'm aware of is that you have to boot straight into TWRP from the bootloader. Don't reboot into your rom after fastboot flashing the custom recovery. Use the volume buttons to select start recovery and power button to start it. If you reboot into your stock rom your recovery will get replaced.
Flash SuperSU once you get into recovery, and that should make TWRP "stick".
Some people have said to reboot to recovery from recovery once the first time you boot into TWRP before rebooting to system. I'm not entirely sure that is required, but I did do it and TWRP stayed working for me.
One other thing, every time I've flashed SuperSU 2.62 my phone seems to bootloop once after the moto logo on the first boot. Don't panic. This seems to be normal, just let it go. The second time it will boot normally.
I tried both and it would simply not boot into twrp

Veuro: Are you flashing TWP 2.8.7.1? as soon as you flash and it says ok, open Recovery.
I am flashing just like the guides say.. I'm on MM original rom

Has anyone been successful rooting mm?
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Are you unlocked?
Yes I'm unlocked. I finally figured it out using the systemless root guide, but it was a little confusing at first
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Would you mind explaining what you did? All of the instructions I've found for systemless root use files associated with variants besides the US version which is what I'm trying to root.
Edit: Never mind figured it out! For those of you that are confused, the only version of SuperSU that works for a stock systemless root is 2.62-3. Simply fastboot TWRP then install that version of SuperSU through TWRP and you're good to go.

Latest TWRP v3.0.0-0 for the Samsung Galaxy SM-A510F
NOTE:
This is a test build and requires a tester who knows how to flash with Odin and recover if required.
It may boot it may not, it sometimes takes a few tries to get the configuration right as I don't own this device.
If it doesn't boot take close note of what happens and describe in detail.
FLASHING CUSTOM STUFF VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. THIS WILL TRIP THE KNOX FLAG.
Install:
Flash with Odin 3.10.7 using the AP slot.
Uncheck Auto-reboot.
Reboot to recovery immediately after flashing using POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN, as soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons.
TWRP should now boot.
twrp_3.0.0-0_sm-a510f
NOTE: ON SOME ANDROID 5.1.1 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.

OK do not let twrp root your device as it will bootloop devices running 5.1.1 roms.
So I take it you have the stock firmware to flash? Flash that then install the file below and you will have root.

What base are you on ? As long as you are on 5.1.1 then I'd recommend DN5, both erobot and sixperience have the theme engine as well but don't seem to be supported anymore.

I'm not sure CF auto root actually works anymore because of selinux , been that long since I tried it.
I've never known anyone get bootloop flashing the correct twrp. Once you have twrp installed dont do anything except flash dn5 (if thats the one you choose), don't select root in twrp you should be ok just flashing the rom

Download dn5 zip to your sdcard reboot to recovery and flash the zip file through twrp that's it. If you want to go back to stock you just download the latest firmware for your region from sammobile and flash that through odin. That simple, but I think you will probably stay on custom especially if you want theme store
Edit
Yes every thing is ok in odin, just always check that repartition is never ticked by accident. Repartition should always be left unticked

You shouldn't lose them tbh but you can do one of 2 things. 1 make a full back-up in recovery before you flash dn5 (think you can backup un rooted never actually tried)
2 flash latest su zip in recovery to get root then use titanium backup or similar to back them up. There may actually be an app in the playstore that doesn't need root to backup apps just can't remember what it's called

Untick reboot in odin flash twrp again and reboot straight into recovery manually with 3 finger combo before you boot up the phone. If that doesn't work flash twrp 2.8.6 first, there was a bug in 2..8.7 guess it's still there in latest version. Once you have 2.8.6 you can flash any after that

Just download dn5 then select install zip and that's it. If it asks you to root after the zip finishes don't. Also first boot (only the first one) after flashing will take 10 mins so don't panic

You won't need to worry about it now. It's just a twrp bug first time you flash it. It won't happen again

How to keep permanent root?

So I have converted my Note for to developer and have an unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP through Odin. I have tried a few times to gain root by installing SuperSU through TWRP, but it just manages to keep looping my phone after it installs. Is there a way to install SuperSU without doing it through TWRP as I think that's the problem?
Also I wouldn't be able to install a ROM until I gain root correct?
Thank you for all of your help

install a prerooted rom of your choice through twrp recocery.. they will come pre rooted..
if not i have a feeling youre not using the correct supersu zip to root the device..
have you flashed cf auto root?

Flash a prerooted rom or flash the Emotion-TW-5.1.1-nightly-r21 kernal + BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524

So yea.I don't mean to hijack this thread or anything, but I'm having thebsane issue. I've converted to Dev edition, installed TWRP, and am currently running CM 13. However, whenever I try to use an app that requires root, it says that I don't have root.
I've tried flashing the latest Super SU in recovery, downloading Super SU from the play store, and I've tried flashing the Emotion kernel (when i try to flash that, my screen goes black and I'm returned to my recovery home)
What pre rooted ROMs are out?
And are my issues rooting because I flashed a 6.0,1 ROM before getting permanent root?

Cool, thanks got it to work!
Now my only issue is that once I was rooted and everything I wanted to flash CM13.
I shut down my phone and went into TWRP, I restored and the tried to install CM13+Gapps and it just went into a black screen and started over. I rebooted, but now I'm in a boot loop.
So I am going to start over and regain root, but do you know if I did something incorrectly? How would I go about it? Thank you.

Hmm im not sure (i'm running stock + Emotion kernel). But if you want to go CM13, you dont need to flash the Emotion kernel.
EDIT: you did a full factory reset (via recovery) before you flashed CM13 right?

Yes I did, but I had the Emotion Kernal installed. That's probably why, I'm going to attempt right now to flash SuperSu then CM13.

Cm13 is pre-rooted, root is embedded in the rom, superSu isn't needed, you can turn it on in developer settings.

Yea, try with stock kernal. I don't think you need to flash SS when flashing CM13 though
For me, when I try to flash CM13 through TWRP it'll get to saying "MTP Enabled" in the terminal window, then black screens for a few seconds, and reboots to TWRP. It also doesn't flash CM13, and I'm at a loss for what to do

Which version of TWRP do you have? And did you make sure it was a vzw build?
