Phone is screwed

I tried to play Quake III Arena a couple days ago (yeah, I know). It crashed. I soft-resetted. After I did that, a large percentage of my apps would freeze on open. Total Commander freezes on file operations. File Explorer as well; the last option on the right-click menu is replaced by a bunch of squares in File Explorer.
I was going to try an upgrade, but EPST closes when I try to open it from a Run app, and I can't get far enough to reach it in any file manager (Verizon, so dialing won't work).
In other words, I can't do much of anything outside of calling now. Any suggestions/help? At the very least I'd like to be able to upgrade/hard-reset it safely.

Was this a application that you installed or played online?
If it was installed was it installed to main memory or the SD card?
If it was installed to SD try hooking it up to your pc and delete the program files from there if file explorer freezes on your phone.
Or uninstall it from main memory and soft reset.
Can you provide more info on your situation so we can troubleshoot this?

My first impulse is to do a hard reset. You will lose all data on the phone of course.

Access X10 through the computer

Is there some way to access the x10 though the computer to download pics that i have taken?
I have plug it into the pc and there is nothing recognized like the minisim 16g that is in it or the on-board storage.
I run win 7 so there's not much it misses.
I have been reading the forum for related stuff but coming up empty.
Ok i downloaded PC Companion I can access the phone, but still don't see the minisim, or pics that i took.
I suggest using an app called Wifi File Explorer or Websharing. Search those apps in the market. These applications will only work with wifi on. It will use your Wifi and allows you to browse through your SDCard contents through a browser. No need for connecting cables to your computer.
Instructions:
1. Start the app (Wifi File Explorer or Websharing)
2. For Websharing, press the Start button. It will give you an IP address.
3. Type that IP address on your computer in your browser.
If you want to view pics, I would suggest Websharing cuz it allows you to view pics through the browser and thus allows you to see which ones you want to download to your computer. Wifi File Explorer only gives you a list of files.
Thanks i will get to that right away.
In the mean time the place that i was looking for in showed up in PC Companion under File Manger. It open explorer and at first few times was not able to find the minisim. For some reason it showed up 20 minutes later under the file name DCIM.
I don't know why it didn't show but it does now.
But i am still going to try the programs.

Drag down the top notification bar...

Mount.
You can also just use Mediascape and Bluetooth the files to your computer (assuming you have bluetooth on your computer.)
It's what I do... very easy, fast enough, and requires no set-up or typing after the first time.

I had the same!!!
File explorer was set to explore "windows" folder (I was just trying to see the shortcut for the card game), and it always took like 10 real minute to explore.
The phone become unresponsive, only way was to kill the file explorer, then wait 5 more min. for it to "come back alive".
Everytime I was hitting the file explorer it was doing the same (still set to explore windows directory).
But one day it disapeared, and now, well I don't even try but the problem disapeared at some point, maybe it came back...
i had this problem with windows folder as well so now im trying to avoid hitting that folder but im talking about killing file explorer in task manager , and gettin phone freezed.... fking hd2

Strange its not included by default, thanks.
Never had any file apps on any of my android phones before, that seems like a Samsung thing.

Google has said that they don't want to create an OS that requires the user to need a file explorer.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Lack of file manager has been a trend in general; I don't think you can even get one on Windows Phone unless you unlock.
Solid Explorer
At first I thought I was just missing something when I couldn't find the explorer. It became essential when some videos I bought over didn't show up in the download folder, so I installed AntTek Explorer. Seriously, ANYTHING would have been better than nothing. I understand not always needing it, but it's good to have the option. At least we can download one easily enough, so it's fine.
Nexus7 2012 Help pls
I've used Motorola for the past 2 years and am able to connect via USN to my Win7/64 bit system with ABSOLUTE EASE.
I am dumbfounded because I am NOT able to view NEXUS files/directories on my PC.'
When I connect the USB- I only see DCIM and Camera. (If I selected Camera MTP).
If I selected media Device which is the default, I see nothing in PC File Manager.
This is very disappointing because I'd really like to see files on the PC, because typing and moving and renaming is so much easier.
Yes, I know I can see files using Android File explorer, etc.
I am preparing to root my phone, as I did the Razr, and wanted to back up files using Helium (old Carbon), until I get it rooted and can use my paid for Titanium Pro.' --- So, where the devil will the backups be stored? Going back and forth between tablet and PC is odd to say the least.
I thought Nexus was the bomb for allowing users to totally manage their devices. Guess u have to have tiny fingers, great eyes, and LOTS OF Patience!
Any help or comments is very much appreciated.

ES FileExplorer slow accessing USB 3.0 USB while Built in File browser fast? Any Fix?

Hey guys when I first got my usb 3.0 OTG cable and plugged it in on the 6p I found copying files was really slow. I even thought the USB OTG cable was defective. It won’t go past 1MB/s from copying in ES file explorer. Trying to copy a TWRP backup and it says 20 minutes. When I plugged in the USB it asked me do you want to let ES File explorer access the USB and I said yes. However, when I use the inbuilt file explorer/browser it is much faster and the whole backup is copied in under a minute. How can I give es file explorer full speed access to the drive? ES is much better than the inbuilt file explorer. Any ideas? I’m running pure Nexus by the way tried the same scenario on it and stock. So I’m willing to look at any rooted solutions.
try a different file manager than ES?
solid explorer is very good, there are also many others.
Solid Explorer does work at full speed.

That’s weird never had that issue with ES but your right solid explorer is working. May have to give up some of the things I use in ES file explorer and purchase solid explorer.

Just a quick question. (as a former ES user) what do you use in ES that you would be 'giving up' as opposed to another file explorer ?
Here is a few of the top of my head

Well i just downloaded solid explorer for the first time but i know es has a lot of network capabilities like Connecting to your LAN and the Android TV and Remote manager feature just to name a few. But since i don't use them every day i can use another file explorer for local things. I'm not sure if Solid explorer also has these features. Also i like the feature where if both devices are running es file explorer you can beam over files instantly with no setup using the share menu. This was really useful for the nexus player i got since no native file browser.
