Help me in rom development - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anybody help me in development of ROM.
How and how.
Which platform and framework is needed, which IDE is required.??
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don't know enough to help you. I would start with Android Studio and see whether it has anything. I would also try and find a way to download firmware updates to your computer to pick apart.
I am very keen that people be able to write custom firmware, so that when the manufacturer of the device stops support, the community can look after it.

AVD stands for 'android virtual device'. AVDs are is used by the Eclipse IDE for developing apps for the Android system. Essentially, when developing an app it is very useful to check it against the AVDs of different android devices to ensure that the app will perform properly on each device.
When I asked for help, I thought that this forum - namely xda-developers - would be able to point me to sources of the AVD's of various android devices. I'm surprised that no-one seems to have heard of them - are there any andriod app developers that read this forum?

[SOLVED]Becoming one of those ROM/Kernel developers?

Hi there. I am interesting to be one of those ROM and Kernel developers. But I do not have any knowledge and skills in these tweaking and so on. I need to acquire those basics. (i.e. learning from scratch)
My question is, where can I learn all those knowledge and skills? I can't find anything about this in XDA website. But I do believe such guide should be available within XDA.
Thanks. =)

Head over to chef central! All the getting started info is in there. If as you say your knowledge is basic, then I'd recommend starting with ROM cooking via DSIXDA's kitchen before progressing onto anything else.

Thanks lynxboy!

Creating a Rom and Kernel.

So as everyone has probably noticed alot of people have opted-out of the X10 community, developers and consumers alike.
I have this phone for another year so I would like to learn how to create rom's and kernels so I can contribute back to those who have help fed my flash addiction.
Where do I start??
Thanks in advance for the input,
Vader

I would also like to learn how to make my own ROM and kernels to contribute to the site and phone.
It won't come to you automatically guys .
Read through the forum , Read Read & Read .
Experiment things .. You'll get lots of headaches , But it'll be worth it .
& Then ask for help , There should be a issue to solve right .
Thanks Oodie. I didn't know there was an entire section of the forum dedicated to this as well.

I believe you can develop in whatever environment/OS you want, but you will need a working knowledge of linux to be able to work on kernels especially and ROMs too (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

For kernel stuff I think you have to be on Linux, because of the required dependencies and libraries.

There's a whole sub-forum on this site for Android Rom Cooking, why don't you have a look in there...

First u need a fast internet connection to download stuff(kitchen, sdk.etc)
Then a Linux machine(u can get it for free)
Then its not easy as u put popcorn in ur microwave and it comes out cooked
U need to learn commands(Different commands are required for different things)
Like u have to type many commands to compile(correct me if i m wrong)
And if u get errors their are different commands to solve that error
I know only this much but i don't know any command
I have windows

[Q] Root, Recovery, development questions.

Hi, everyone. I'm not new to android, or to the forums; but the older I get, the more I want to know. So I have the VZW S5, and everyone is dying to see the bootloader unlocked so we can do anything to the phone. So my basic question is, how can the bootloader be unlocked in theory... on any phone? I've had close to a dozen android devices, all rooted, most with custom roms. I'm just tired of following a step by tutorial on how to do stuff. Can anyone point me in the direction on how android works, what files do what, what to modify to make custom roms. I know I need to start with the basics, I can program in C, what's next? Thanks everyone.

If you find a ROM that's similar to your phone like similar CPU you could download it download Java Android kitchen and that you need to get the system files from your phone so you can put it in that ROM so then you can Port it to your phone
I was going to do that for my phone but I get caught up playing PC and by the time I have my PC ready for it it was already ROM out for mine
Also if u need help porting there a thread here for that
