I trust Google more than China... Google is fairly open with their privacy policy, setting up hardware backdoors for a nation state is an entirely different story.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything. If you go back and look at the Lenovo situation their spyware was in the bios, so even if you formatted the hdd and started with an entirely fresh install of windows it would just reload itself in. Point being, there are ways of back-dooring this type of thing.

Open privacy policy - means they copy paste all their customer data to NSA?
If anything, I would trust Chinese more than US when it comes to privacy.

Most electronics I think for that matter are either manufactured in China or made with a majority of Chinese parts. At least Motorola is a US based company HQ'd in Illionis and Huawei is HQ'd in China. Their founder was a former deputy director of the People's Liberation Army engineering corp, so the company had, at least at one point, stroing ties to the Chinese government.

Not at all.
My point is that Nexus 6 and MotoX were OK from a security standpoint, even though they were manufactured in China by a Chinese company. So in all probability, the 6P will not be a concern either.

Thanks to the US Government's poor security, the Chinese Government already knows everything about me they could possibly want to know. So no, I'm not worried

Those seem like overall US mobile phone sales - dumb phones included. Otherwise how could Samsung and LG take up such huge chunks of the market? HTC pretty much only sells smartphones and compared to Apple, they don't sell that much either. They probably only make up a very marginal portion of the overal mobile phone market.

So that's why I own both a EVO and a Nexus One with plans to buy a Nexus S? I just stated what's likely to be the truth. I'm too lazy to confirm right now but most likely Apple sells more phones than any single company in America. That just means Apple makes more money and has the biggest balls on the block when it comes to bragging rights. We all know how Steve Jobs love to brag about the size of his balls compared to everyone else when it comes to press conferences.
Now you can based your purchase decision on ball size or you can get the phone that you feel will suit you. The evo suited me when I purchased it and the evo 3d looks like it will suit me next. I guess that means I love Taiwanese balls over old american hippy's balls? O' Well.

Look at what I was replying to. Google makes up 3x% of the market split by all the OEMs (Samsung, HTC, Motor, LG, etc.), Apple's 2x% is made up by just Apple. Someone asked where's HTC in the OEM share chart and I responded by saying that their individual share is probably insignificant in overall mobile phone sales. Apple's isn't, and that's why their 2x% share is a much bigger business success than any Android commited OEM. Not to mention that they get a large cut from itune app and media sales.
Next time put your emotions to the side and read what you're responding to.

Judgement goes against Apple, SGSIII to launch in U.S. as scheduled!!!

Then in an order late on Monday, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California, effectively dashed Apple's hopes of stopping the launch of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd's new Galaxy S III smartphone, which also runs on Android. Koh had said Apple's push to get a court order blocking the June 21 launch would overload her calendar, given Apple's high-stakes trial over other Samsung devices set for July that she is overseeing.

Apple hopes to give an edge by delaying competitor product Can they come out with a fabulous device instead Shame on you Apple.
To be fair, from what i understand from reading, the legal system is too slow to react to a new device launch. In other words Samsung could blatantly copy a feature and still get it launched before the courts could act. It would be nice if that excuse wasnt valid but i feel it may be legit.

Well, let me ask you this.....how long have you known that Samsung was going to be bringing the SGS3 to the US? That being said, don't you think Apple is to blame for the "slow reaction" of the court system being that they didn't file a motion against the SGS3 until the day before last weeks hearing? My logic is that Apple should have gotten on the ball and made their move to stop this launch as soon as they heard about it.....but i'm glad they procrastinated
http://files.sharenator.com/93a2906...mon_is_in_danger-s400x300-291489-535.gif.html
That is for judge Koh because we all know she secretly wanted to get her hands on this phone as well
Actually the judgement has been delayed. Apple is sure to file another motion to fast track it, and since there is no date of the actual trial yet, Apple could still win.
Sorry, not trying to give bad news, just the fact. It would be really awesome if the judge did rule against Apple or better still throw the case out and fine Apple for wasting the courts time.
Love it! Another loss for Apple!

Just to clarify why we're celebrating.....
In her order on Monday, the judge said Apple would have to request a new hearing date if it wanted to stop sales of the Galaxy S III phone. That likely would not take place before the phone's scheduled launch.

Well yeah, it's a rare person who wouldn't abuse a stupid law if it made them rich enough. That makes most everyone a hypocrite (as long as you suppose extreme enough circumstances) and rather nullifies the point of calling anyone by the h-word.
Actually, if I (sorta broke) took the time to submit a patent, then defend this patent mine or not would be smart. Now in Apples case, they already have more money than they need (greed is legal), makes them look pathedic, period.

No, google offices are in no way stores, they might have something on campus in mountain view (similar to what microsoft has/had in WA) but not at the other offices. They should though, they have enough offices worldwide and they have a decent product lineup now to actually make a decent push into the retail market and it could give apple a run for their money.

Galaxy S4 soon to be released, now is the time to complain about missing sources!

Hello
With the S4 soon to be released (in april) theres a lot of talk about the phone on Facebook and on Twitter. It is therefore a good time to start writing on Samsungs' Facebook- and Twitter pages about the promised sources that we never recived and how you feel about that.
Hopefully we will get a response from Samsung (it has worked before) and if not we might have saved some people the trouble we have had with the lack of Exynos 4 sources.
This might be our best chanse to get the Exynos 4 sources sense Samsung probably don't wan't alot of bad pr on social networks right before the S4 going to be released.
If you honestly think that the mention of "exynos source" on a Facebook page will mean anything at all to your average buyer, you are sadly mistaken.
In Asian countries the concept of respect holds far more weight than in most Western economies....hence spamming and name calling will achieve absolutely nothing, in fact it may well be counter productive
If you want pure Android, buy Nexus
..... good luck with that.

The avrage buyer won't care sense they don't check Samsungs pages but some of the ones that do might change there opinion about getting a Samsung, but far from all.
Isn't the reason they promised the Exynos sources in the first place that they didn't wan't people to see the bad pr they got from us on social networks?
It has been a bit quiet sense the end of 2012 when they promised the sources to be released and they have not even said why the sources has not been released and it have soon gone 4 months. So just sit quiet and wait will never get us the sources.
"If you want pure Android, buy Nexus" I am a student, will you pay for it?

It has been made abundantly clear by administration and moderation that using XDA association for this campaign is not approved and not welcome, ......so go and spam Facebook and whatever, but don't keep raising the issue here

I love punk, but I also love glam rock or generally all rock/hard rock genres from the 70's and 80's.

I'm still of the opinion that people who want AOSP support should just buy the Nexus 4 or should flock to devices that are known to have stable CM support. Having CM on devices is a bonus. I however bought my Galaxy S2 and S3 because of the stock experience with the possibility of flashing custom roms. I think its ignorant to buy a device and expect support for something which they have not promised. The only question one needs to ask is if CM will maintain the S600 version of the phone.

It says origen board, that was the first sign that we were in for disappointment.
No CM official support for S4 is really bad. I'm sure some adventurous dev will step in and provide unofficial builds... Some people just want to watch the world burn.

I'm 17. Paying for my $3,500 insurance policy a year for my $11,000 motorcycle. All this while in school. I'm sure you can pay for a $200/$300 phone.

I don't know where Lirkaren is from, but here in Sweden a Nexus costs as much as a normal phone. Although they've dropped a bit in price, they still cost well over $600 here.
Just thought I'd clear the air about that.
And all the new phones (GS4, SXZ, HTC One) will all cost around $970-1000 unlocked.

You are a lucky 17 years old guy, congrats, but you're not a representative example for the average student, sorry (I mean.. sorry that you are wrong, you're still a very lucky guy I had to save money for couple of years when I was your age in order to buy my first used genuine Fender Strat...). Enjoy!
How much is the Nexus 4?
And it wasn't a bragging thing guys. I know I'm lucky. I'm glad I have a good work ethic so that I can get things I want and need.

What a joke "KITKAT"

It is so repulsive that Google is getting on the advertising train even with their naming convention. I cant believe they are calling the new OS "KITKAT" instead of "KeyLimePie". Should be "KickbackKingdom" or "KeepKneepads".
Disgusting to me,
Stingerrray
It's indeed getting more commercial which CAN mean that they('Google') only see $$ bills and don't give much attention about their OS.
Again, this is a possibility and I don't think this will happen due the fact that it's Google.

If they can make easy money by just naming the OS as KitKat, then why not do it? After all, it's not the name that matters, it's the OS itself.
Well

I dont see a problem. Naming each version of android based on sweets and deserts is purely fun as far as i can see. I also doubt google is making much if any off this, its just a nice collaboration.

Yes, well sell your phone if it bothers you that much and buy a WP or iOS based phone.

Yes, You could be right. Maybe I will give one of the others a try. Had Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4. Last Windows Phone was (Windows Mobile 6.1) not too fond of that. Never hurts to try. Nice suggestion mate!

Hand on heart, I just don't care.
Apart from the fact the name sucks, that is. I'd really wish they'd stop with these awful names.
Wait.... Is it kitkat instead of Android or kitkat instead android?

Why is everybody bent out of shape? No money was exchanged in this deal at all, it was corporate synergy at its best. The reason Google went with KitKat was because KitKat bars are the Google teams favorite chocolate bar and they wanted to acknowledge that. They asked KitKat for their permission and 24hours later they agreed and decided to take it a step further and launch a campaign around the idea.
Google gets more recognition for android with the non techie people because more of them will actually know about the new android updates and their naming scheme. You can just imagine regular people wanting to know what the next android "flavor" will be, and they might actually start demanding updates and force the hands of the carriers and manufacturers because more people will actually care about them. Hell, Google might even make this a yearly thing and if it goes well we might have companies clamoring to be "The next big update" kind of like how people wait to see who the next Bond is going to be, but on a smaller scale.
KitKat will get marketing practically free, and have an association with the most popular mobile OS in the world. They now have permission to use Andy the android in their commercials, and if you go to the KitKat website you can see what I'm talking about. They just created an entire marketing campaign around android without paying Google a single cent
Perfect corporate synergy, this is a CEO's wet dream.

I absolutely love it. Everyone knew the android OS was being named after delicious treats.
After all, it threw a curve ball to anyone and everyone on the KeyLimePie bandwagon. I mean key lime pie does start with a K. but the word Key itself isnt essentially a "Treat" instead the word "pie" is the treat. Key lime is just the flavor. You know? Just a random rant.
What's the fuss?
I got news for you guys, Google has been a for-profit organization since they got started and makes BILLIONS of dollars in profit yearly. To act like they were your favorite "indie" music band that just sold out with this move is a little disingenuous (IMHO).
Android is a mess right now as everyone is trying to abuse the open nature to install bloatware and make warped systems. Google need to take control back.
