Note 3 User - thinking of changing to Moto X Play - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

are there any moto x play user who previously have owned a note 3? my contract is allowing me to get several phones but the only one id think is "ok" to change my note 3 to, would be the moto x play.
im anxious about the lag issues and some people saying that the adreno gpu 405 isnt really supporting 1920x1080 screens..
would love some insight on other peoples experiences~
thanks in advance

After having the Nexus 5, the OnePlus One and the G3 in the past year, I choose the Moto X Play for its battery and its price.
No regrets, the device is awesome. I have not noticed any lags, camera is really good, software is close to stock, battery is awesome.
Only downside is Motorola being late to release the kernel sources, the ROM development is not the fastest

I think the Note 3 would perform similarly, if not a bit better, to the Play. Battery life and camera quality would definitely be in the Play's favor, as are potentially quick updates from Motorola.
Honestly, I think it's a tough decision. As I don't really play games much, I can live with the slower graphics performance over the Note 3 (which IS noticeable from what I did try). I love the camera, and prefer the look of stock Android over the Note 3.
To clarify, I did own a Note 3, but went through a few phones since, so direct comparisons aren't easy

Don't do it. I did exactly this and regret it. The difference in UI smoothness is very noticeable. I used AOSP/CM based roms on the Note 3, not touchwiz. I find the camera on the Note 3 to be much better as well, even on AOSP.
The battery life is similar in use, BUT standby was a lot better on my Note 3. At the same locations, the X Play shows lower bars (and drains more in standby) vs. the Note 3. For the Note 3, it wasn't uncommon for me to loose 1% battery overnight, while with the play its more like 1%/hr.

I still have my Note 3 and a Z Ultra. The X Play has the brightest screen with the best sunlight legibility of them all. A better battery life or a louder speaker anyway. And it has always dual SIM built in, you can enable it if needed. It is also splash proof and has a FM radio.
Lag is not that bad and varies between apps, but one thing is important to avoid lag: don't do a google account app restrore from other phones when setting it up. Make a fresh if tedious install for that Snapdragon 615.
Still, the Note 3 is faster, has more memory, installs apps faster, has a gyro sensor, has WiFi ac, it is better for gaming, has more functions built into touchwiz than the barebone Android on the X Play, but that means there are less processes in the memory of the X Play sucking juice.
But the X Play has a faster modem than the Note 3 for searching networks. Together with the mentioned adavantages, the X Play is an excellent everyday phone for usage on the go. It is not a gaming phone, though.

The lag that was present before is gone for me with the newest Google app update.

Moto X vs other high end devices.

After seeing how well the Moto X performs, I have to wonder is there any real point in constantly making phones that use faster chips such as the snapdragon 600 or 800 when Motorola proves that they can do the same on a dual core S4? Or has the spec race always been pointless and only caters to the desire of the consumer to have the "best." I own both the Moto X and a Google edition HTC One, and despite how much "higher end" the One is, I feel like the Moto X is the better device. Will other manufacturers start doing what Motorola is doing with the deep software-hardware integration, or will they continue to rely on the most cutting edge hardware?
Current Devices: Moto X, HTC One Google Edition, Oppo Find 5
All Moto did was out together an almost bare bones stock phone and focus on what really matters and has high impact for most people. Granted, the motoX may not be for everyone, depending on whether they prefer a larger screen or perform heavier tasks that may be better handled with a quadcore cpu. But for the majority, motoX is about as clean as it gets to being pure stock Android without bloaty oem launchers or UI tweaks. It comes with just a few custom moto apps that people will actually use more than once compared to the gimmicky features that come. Things like gif creators or nfc bump file transfers are of no use to me. But something like active notifications and moto assist is something going I and most others can use everyday.
So to answer your question, spec race isn't over yet, but I think there will be rush from Samsung and HTC to try to close the gap and duplicate the moto apps. There definitely will be an increased emphasis on user experience from here on out as consumers start to realize that cutting edge specs doesn't always translate to best experience.

Truth be told the Moto X isn’t stock, it just has the stock UI on top of a relatively standard Motorola software build, but it does have a heck of a lot less of the operator preload crapware that normally shows up on Android phones sold with a subsidy these days.

this is the same conversation that happened with computers and clock speed/cores a few years ago. more cores and higher clock speeds come to a point of diminishing returns and optimization is necessary to grow performance at that point.
This won't stop the spec race.
When OEMs realize price is what will win the "war", not specs, we'll finally get somewhere.
Maybe its just me, but I dont get what people are doing with their phones that they need such high spec'ed devices. When I look at a device I look for snapiness, response, and overall usability. Most phones achieve this by optimizing their custom software on the device. Its not about the specs people, its about how you make the software to interact with the device specs. I love my Moto X, as a matter of fact, I took back my S4 Active for it. S4 active is so full of bloatware, it reminds me of my mothers computer everytie she asks me to fix it, it has at least 6-7 toolbars in IE, and you can barely search anything. Some options are great on devices like the S4, but when you stick to simplicity, things work way better. My Moto X has been invaluable to me so far in terms of battery life, and touchless controls. Yes I use them, while driving. Convenient and safe for me and my family.
Just my 2 cents...
Coming from the S4 Active and the HTC One before that I can honestly say that this is the best Android phone I've ever used. It is every bit as fast as those two, if not faster, but even smoother with absolutely zero lag. Couple the amazing performance with the perfect physical design and you've got the Android phone that all others aspired to be but fell short. Screw the spec war, what Motorola did with this phone is nothing short of outstanding. I feel like this is the smart phone I've always wanted. Now if only I can get this crappy battery life figured out...

Even if u put 8 cores (which they're doing) on a touchwiz phone, its still gonna be laggy in some areas! I had the One before this phone and that was much better but still had some hiccups! To my surprise, I haven't experienced any hiccups on the X yet but obviously having stock android helps a lot! Not a lot of the ram is being used up and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this phone use Motorola's new x8 core structure which is really awesome!

I think it compares to 'higher' end devices just fine. People are knocking it saying it's last year's specs but there was an article I read about the whole S4 pro/600 and there was a guy who is very knowledgeable when it comes to CPU's and he even said he is confused as to what makes a 600 a 600 and what makes a pro a pro. He said they are basically exactly the same from an architecture stand point. He even stated he thinks what makes a 600 a 600 and a pro a pro is the clock speed. I have the HTC One, the X and the Oppo Find 5. I'm pleasantly surprised how well the X runs. This phone is no slouch and I wouldn't consider it a mid range device. (I did consider it one before I owned one) don't get me wrong I still love my HTC one, I also love my find 5 but my X is my new love so she has been getting all the attention lately. Hehe

I think the processor is underrated and think motorola put out a great lone of phones this year and it will only lead to better phones in the future

The only time I could see this phone falling behind is if apps begin to fully utilize four cores, but to be honest, I'd take 2 high power cores over 4 low power cores any day. Sadly, the cores in the X aren't anything over the top and probably wouldn't out perform two of the cores from a snapdragon 800 (2.3ghz). I know on my desktop I have an AMD Athlon 64x4 @2.8ghz that performs about the same as my i5 2450m @2.5ghz (turbo and almost always at 3.1ghz). As soon as I get an application that can't utilize all 4 cores the performance is nearly halved when compared to the i5 and makes it seem like a dog. As I said though, it's no suprise that this phone performs as good or even better than "more powerful" devices. I mean, I just can't see flipping through home pages and what not requiring anything more than a decent dual core processor. Optimization is key, and throwing more cores at it won't help.
I suppose my Nexus 4 is no longer a high-end phone. But still, it is not that bad yet after having MOTO X, I hardly touch my N4 anymore for two major reasons: touchless control and the compact size of MOTO. The screen size is the same, but the phone size ain't. Additionally, N4, to me at least, has a wired headphone jack. MOTO X has it in the middle, much easier to hold.
And of course, the dimple
The only super major huge disappointment is the MOTO X's camera. Oh my goodness, magic tweak twice to wake up this crappy camera?
That said, X is more than enough to impress average consumers. It is definitely not for geeks and spec-lovers
I have a Xperia S and I am tempted to buy a moot x what do you think it's good idea? Does it worth it? I know that the camera of the MotoX takes "funeral mode" photos compared to the Xperia S
I saw that the performance it's great but I still don't know

I get no lag with any of my apps with the dual cores, even the store models and I noticed the other store models did struggle at times. Reminds me of when the HTC Vivid came out, as one of the first dual core phones....no one could use it to the full potential, so I think the Quad Cores should be better utilized in the next generation of phones, but Moto X has more than enough power right now.

No need to lie, the HTC One does hiccup at all.. With that said, I'm considering going to the X simply because of battery life. I just feel like I will miss the aluminum, front speakers and camera.
I got the Moto X and love it. Everything runs smooth and fliud all throughout the system and apps. I'm selling my HTC One and GE S4 but am getting a Dev edition One. I really hope Google and Motorola keep making phones like this and this is just the beginning.

Droid Turbo performance... not as good?

I was playing with the Droid Turbo at Verizon today, and was surprised to see lag using Chrome and other apps. It just doesn't run as snappy as the new Moto X. I then read an article that the Snapdragon 805 chip can handle Quad HD (2560x1440), but really only by itself and not well with other things going on in the background (like animating one thing on top of another).
http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...er-poor-graphics-performance-vs-iphone-6-plus
I realize this is a pro-Apple website, but I believe my eyes in the real world over a website, and the Droid Turbo lagged behind the Moto X 2014 and the HTC One M8. I would say it ran comparable to the LG G3, which I also noticed lagged more than the M8.
If it's true that these manufacturers are choosing a high resolution just because it's advertised without checking real-world performance, then it's a disappointment, because they could have gone with a lower resolution and gotten better performance, speed, and battery life (and it's not performing for 2 days in reviews as advertised), at a compromise of a hardly-noticeable change in pixel resolution. I couldn't even tell a pixel difference between the Droid MAXX (720), the Moto X 2014 (1080), and the Droid Turbo (1440) without getting close and squinting, and they're all 5" screens.
Can someone root their Droid Turbo and lower the resolution to 1080 to see if they get a better frame rate and battery life? I'm thinking of doing that but I'm not sure what I lose.
The LG G3 is the same QHD resolution but with the older 801. No lag for me there either. I think it's just you.

I think I just notice it whereas you don't, lucky you. I've been doing this since 320x240, I can tell you when a game or TV show is running less than 60 frames per second (and when a game is 30fps as opposed to a TV show at 24fps, like Seinfeld), whereas I've noticed other people either don't notice or barely notice. If you're the type that doesn't notice, good for you, but the more apps you install and more things you do on the phone, the more it will be compromised with an underpowered chip.
I can tell by how quickly you responded you either didn't read the article or for long.
If nobody else notices, great, back to my question: Will someone who roots the phone please leave a review of the phone at 1920x1080 as far as performance and battery life?
I know there are people on this forum who can tell the difference in frame rates, and lag will bother them. I'd love to know how you improved the phone (the Moto X 2014 still impressed me the most at the store, though I want more battery life).
Just wait until Lollipop hits this phone. It is buttery smooth on Nexus 5 so can't wait for this phone to get. Also BTW I notice no lag either.
I usually notice these things as well (I did with the g3, which is why I didn't get it), but with the store demo or the one in my hand, I see absolutely no lag so far.

Well, not yet anyway.
I dunno, my phone feels super smooth. Pretty much like playing a game at 60fps. Haven't noticed a bit of lag yet other than in the camera's viewfinder. I guess every model will differ a bit here and there though.
Well, I guess I got the only three laggy Droid Turbos at Verizon, because they were consistent this way, and the other phones were consistent their way, and if I had to choose without knowing anything else about the phones but what I saw there, I would have chosen the Moto X 2014. I'm still just banging my head on the wall with the decision to use 2560x1440 on a 5" screen, when that's not even noticeable to me or most people without squinting up close, and the battery life (and apparent performance) loss that just goes with an increase in resolution. The more pixels, the more power.
I own the G3 and the turbo. There is 0 lag on this thing. Compared to Tue G3, it runs laps around it. Everything is just faster and smoother

I didn't play with the display model, but maybe it's a demo mode thing? I know they have all that junk loaded onto it to showcase the device. Might be bogging down the system there.
As a huge supporter of this phone and someone who has been waiting a long time to have it in hand.... it has hiccuped on me a few times through transitions. ONLY minor hiccups, though. The CPU intensive things fly. Leaps and bounds better than any of my prior Android devices.
Overall it's performance has been way beyond that of my M7, G2, and Moto G of the past year. I'm going to play around with spare parts and what not. Maybe I can speed up animations even more.
Thank you for the intelligent replies here; with all the trolling on Twitter and YouTube and terrible replies I get at lesser forums, these have been the most intelligent (and actually cogent) replies I've gotten to tech issues I've posted in a long while. I really was expecting less, especially since some of what I said may have sounded incendiary. Thank you XDA for elevating the rhetoric!
I also noticed the floor models lagging a little bit when I went to get my Turbo today.
After loading all my apps and disabling that garbage Verizon bloat, its smooth as can be.
I Edged up from my G3 and have zero regrets. :good:
Undoubtedly, this device would probably perform in top-form if it were rooted, with an unlocked bootloader. Unfortunately, with the most recent discovery of the root exploit for some Sammy/Moto devices (towelroot) Qualcomm and Moto have made damn sure that from here on out, exploits like that won't happen again (or as easily). I figure with 3 Gigs of RAM, a quad-core CPU, and hopefully Lollipop down the line, we will have a beast of a device that will take us through 2 more years of minimized lag, before something better is invented.

Did you read the article? It's completely backed up by technical specs and facts. Theyre not hating just to hate. The iphone 6+ has been regarded by many non baised review sites as the smoothest graphics of any phone.
Read the article, it has useful info. Theyre pushing display resolution ahead of chipset performance and its showing.
I have had mine for almost 24 hrs and absolutely no lag whatsoever. Downloaded the AnTuTuBenchmark app and it DESTROYED the top score of the highest rated phone in the app which was the HTC M8. Since I work at Verizon..I had a coworker downloaded and run the benchmark test on his Note 4 and it came in around 2-3 spots below the M8. Love the QHD display...the only thing that keeps this phone from being perfect is the lack of simultaneous using data and voice use on LTE that's only temporary though...but otherwise..I have ZERO complaints. Absolutely crushes my DroidMaxx by comparison.

Turbo or note 4

Hey guys, Im currently still rocking my RAZR maxx and its about time for me to upgrade. I'm looking between the turbo and note 4. My major deciding factor between these 2 phones are the battery life. I use my phone to listen to online radio which continuously stream. So I wonder if anyone have a clue which one will be better suit for this.
Thanks

specs is not everything about a phone. Note 4 is a top-notch device and it is considered to be a best phone in 2014 about build quality as well as its features. The only cons is TouchWiz, which can be solved after couple of weeks when the phone starting to receive support from Xda Dev.
But, you may want to get the turbo if you dislike the phablet type.

Turbo camera and battery are not good. Note 4 has the best camera and great battery life. Turbo isn't in the same league as the note. Not much more to say. Easy choice.

in terms of battery life has anyone actually worked with both devices and tested and compared it?

Droid Turbo is rated much higher based on their script tests.
After owning an S3 and an S5, I need a break from Touchwiz. Samsung makes great phones but Moto is making the closest thing to a Nexus right now. I see the DT as my own Nexus 6 but perfect size.
Shouldn't this be nexus 6 vs note 4?

I disagree with this. I think you have to know that the droid camera requires manual focus, once you know this, it takes great pictures. I've done blind camera comparisons between my turbo, note 4, s5, and iPhone 6 plus. Every time everyone agreed the turbo had better pictures.
I will say that at first I wasn't too happy about the camera and slower shutter, but if you turn off hdr and use the manual focus, the pictures are fantastic. Keep in mind that samsung denoises/smooths their pictures so they look cleaner but they lack detail. Well at least on the s5, didn't test this on the note 4.
And battery is again, fantastic. I get amazing life with it. Lasts me 1.5 days with heavy use and around 6 hours screen on time on average.
I will say that my last 3 phones have all been samsungs and I loved them all (s4, note 3, s5), but the turbo has exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with the turbo over the note 4. Only thing I'll miss is the spen, but with Google keep to document my picture notes, I've gotten over the turbo not having it.
I bought both to try out, and let's just say I sold my note 4

Note sure about this guys.. Battery is better on the turbo. I've used both and turbo beats the note in many ways. Screen isn't one of them though. Other than the screen and camera, turbo has it beat. Both phones are very similar though.
I will agree that all around the turbo is the a great phone. I used to own the g3 before this. Phone was laggy and not smooth when scrolling. Plus people couldn't hear me on speaker phone for some odd reason. Plus typing with SwiftKey was horrible. Switched to the turbo and now everything is running smooth. I never really liked Samsung phones. Owned the Note 2 and while it is a good phone. It had poor reception, wifi problems and also call clarity wasn't all that great. Never will I own a Samsung phone again. Plus there note series phones are way to huge. Phablet is not for most people and certainly not for me.

New Droid Turbo owner...love it!
I have only had my Droid Turbo for four days and absolutely love it so far. Prior phone was a Samsung S3 and I had a few major problems...dropped calls all the time in my office, could never use it to talk to clients....GPS barely ever worked or would cut out most of the time if it did work, could never get a clear fix on the satellites. The Turbo took care of all of this...really good radio signal from my office...I could even use the internet now from my office while I waited so long with the S3. GPS works like a dream. I am so glad to have gotten rid of my Samsung Galaxy S3. I waited intentionally for the Turbo and can strongly say that I am one happy camper.

I listen to a lot of radio / podcast on my Turbo. Not 10 hours straight but when I'm not actively working I'm listening to Tune-in radio or a podcast (normally through bluetooth). I will normally end the day with about 40% battery left.
I did listen for about 5 hours straight last weekend while working on the house. I had plenty of battery left (though I don't remember the exact amount. Also I was using headphones).
Just for comparison. I headed out to the movies one day and the phone saw light use. After 8 hours out and about I had 89% battery left. But again, I had light use of the phone.
And another comparison. A few weekends ago I was also working on the house (blowing in insulation). I spent about 6 or 7 hours doing this listening to Stitcher the entire time on my previous phone (Note 3). The battery was at 10% when I was done (again I was using headphones).
The only down side that I have with the phone and listening to music / podcasts at this point is the phone doesn't appear to work with headsets that have controls on them. The mic does work. The volume, answer button (Samsung headphones) doesn't work.
No question the turbo has better battery life. I have both. If you do go for the N4 I would suggest buying the Developers version direct from Samsung. The N4 DE has root now!

I agree with your assessment. I've had the Galaxy s3 and 4. I like the camera and battery on the Turbo much better than Samsung's. The Turbo is fast even with the bloatware and a much cleaner interface. The Turbo also has a faster CPU.
I had the note 4 for two weeks and really, the only thing i miss about it is the screen size and maybe the s pen a bit, though I rarely used it anyway.
I have the turbo now, loving it.
But, it depends on what you like/want/need. If you need the stylus and dont care about touchwiz jank, by all means, the note 4 is a good phone.
I just got sick of waiting (as usual with samsung) for the wireless charging back cover and spare battery system to be available, plus, i MUCH prefer stock android over touchwiz (jank). Additionally, the note 4, due to touchwiz, does have some significant lag to it where the turbo has ZERO lag aside from a small bit of lag with the camera shutter, which is a software thing so could be fixed in a future update (some 3rd party camera apps are instant, zero lag, showing its a software thing).
The most noticeable lag on the note 4 is hitting the recent apps button and then touching an app to go back to...in both instances its lag city. It also lags everywhere else too, but not as obvious because the lag in say opening gmail, or SMS is just that it does it much slower than the turbo does it. Touch gmail at the same time on both and the turbo will open almost instantly and be displaying the full inbox, updated etc before the note 4 manages to get the app open at all.
As for cameras, for the first time ever (and I've owned every droid flagship since the first) Motorola FINALLY put a GREAT camera in the turbo...the note 4 only bests it in two ways, the shutter is faster on the note 4 and it does a *little bit* better in really low light situations...otherwise the images they produce are virtually the same quality, both are stunning.
Also, remember, the buttons on the note 4 are REVERSED from stock android (still dont know why Samsung insists on doing that?).
Two more things, with the note 4 I needed the extra battery, with the turbo I dont need it (likely due to smaller screen, much bigger battery and no touchwiz). Plus, it has wireless charging builtin (which I have a lot of wireless chargers around the home and office).
Also, turbo size is MUCH more manageable and one handed use friendly.
Last but not least, the specific moto apps are enormously useful...in the car I'm COMPLETELY hands free, automatically (it knows when I'm driving and automatically switches to voice control, which works VERY WELL for text reading (listening as it were) and replying etc...then turns the automatic reading of messages, calls etc off as soon as i m out of the car. Very useful.
And, the turbo really does feel better in hand, much better...subjective I suppose? I will say though that Samsung finally seriously stepped up their game in the build quality department, they did a fantastic job with the note 4.
If Samsung ditched touchwiz completely and just loaded the note specific apps on top of stock android (and used the correct button placement) I probably would have kept the note 4...touchwiz is 100% the Achilles heal of the phone.
All down to preference, but for me, the unofficial nexus (Turbo) is the clear winner for me.

WAY WRONG...ive had both and the turbo due to having a much larger battery, no touchwiz and a smaller screen absolutely smokes the note 4 in battery life.
The only advantage to the note in terms of battery is being able to swap them if needed, but with the above mentioned reasons the Turbo just doesnt need it.

OnePlus 2 Vs moto X play : Which phone should i buy?

Guys plz tell me which fone should i buy?
my requirements are
1)screen size should not be greater than 5.5 inches (not even 5.6)
2)price should be equal to or less than Rs.25000( about $380)
3) decent battery backup
4) should not lag at all and should be smooth to use
5) i should be able to use the phone for about 2 years without any problems
i was crazy about oneplus 2 initially but i see a lot of negative reviews . i saw a video of speedtest between oneplus 2 vs moto x play in which moto x play beats oneplus 2 easily (i am shocked and confused after watching this)
please help and guide me.
Most of the problems with oneplus 2 are software related and can be fixed. If oneplus wants to, we can have a beast phone. I would personally go for op2 again because of the looks and ability to flash ROMs without losing warranty but I don't blame you if you go for moto x.
Good answer. Went for one plus 2 just because of the development aspect and the great camera, mixed reviews, but I've loved it so far. Feels like bit of a gamble waiting for one plus to get the software optimised with the hardware, will they get there? If they don't someone else will though and I think, if you like things a bit rough round the edges with lots of potential for tweaking etc. Go 4 opt

The play is on a completely different level than the oneplus 2. Even though the oneplus 2 is currently buggy due to poorly optimized software and a flaky cpu, it'll run circles around the moto x play. The play is using a modified version of the CPU in the galaxy s4 and HTC one M7. It's old, it's slow, the GPU is trash, and apparently has the same overheating issues the snapdragon 810 and 808 have. Now, the pure, on the other hand, can definitely keep up with the oneplus 2. I owned both the Moto x pure and the oneplus 2 at the same time and ended up returning the moto x, despite the fact that it was better in every measurable way than the oneplus 2 because it was uncomfortable to hold. The screen was a bit too big and the phone was a bit too wide and too thin and too slippery for my tastes. I dropped it several times during my time with it and just really was not a comfortable phone to hold. But to each their own, totally could have gone the other way, too, both good phones! (Well, ok, the oneplus 2 isn't good yet, but there's potential).
Honestly, if you want the best phone for that kind of money, get the oneplus one and don't even think twice about it. It's far better than the moto x play and the oneplus 2.

But i heard the complete opposite that if you dont have oneplus one then go for OP2 not oneplus one. Another question - If i buy OP2 and root it with other roms/Add kernels then will it void the warranty?
I like my OPT more and more every day. I'm a huge Motorola X guy but opted with OPT. I still own the Motorola X 2014 and Nexus 6.
One Plus 2 has huge potential but it may take a bit of time to get there.
The last update (2.1) has improved things and Android M hopefully will help too.
To be fair, I haven't had any issues with my phone. Screen is nice, fingerprint scanner works flawlessly (better than my Note 5), battery life has been good and overheating a non-issue for me. The camera is great.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either phone.
I'm curious about this too.
I currently have a Moto X Pure and I LOVE it.... I've had it for about 3 weeks - but I just received my OP2 invite last week and went ahead and pulled the trigger and it should be here Monday or Tuesday.....But now, I'm not sure which one I want to keep?!?!
I can refuse the OP2 and get a refund, or sell it to my local/popular "used cell phone" re-seller for probably what I paid for it (or CL for a little more). Or I can keep it and sell the Moto X Pure for probably a little less than what I paid since it's been used for a few weeks.
The ONLY thing that has been the constant deal breaker is the front speakers on the Moto X Pure. I play in a band and watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn new songs and watch movies when I'm "on the road". The front facing speakers is, and has been since my HTC One M7, a big deal for me. How is the OP2 speaker? Is it better than the Galalxy S6?
Also, since owning the MXP, I've really become accustomed to the motion and sensors the MXP offers.... Just wave your hand over the phone to see any notifications or just touch the notification to see more detail (much more than just active display).
Things I REALLY miss... Notification lights. I'm constantly waving my hand over my phone to see if I've missed any calls or text. I had a Galaxy S6 for a little while and really liked the finger print scanner.
Things that seem close and don't sway me either way
OS - both seem nice
Camera - I need a good camera and both seem pretty "on par" with each other.
Custom ROMs - I'm sure the MXP will have plenty soon and the OP2 already has several
A few other concerns.. The MXP's battery life is just OK, not as good as my M8 was but about the same as my M9 (which isn't the best). It is better than the S6..... But I wish it was better. How is the OP2's battery?
USB C - I currently have about 6 or 7 actually active micro USB cables between home, my car, work and my computer bag that get used regularly... Plus my son and I share these chargers when on trips. USB C is the way we're all headed, but i'm not sure I'm ready to shell out $10-15 per cable just yet.
So.....Any input from someone that has owed both would be very helpful.
I have both.
On my Play i run ressurection remix with no problems. On my OPT i run stock with AK kernel.
Best with each phone:
Oneplus:
Camera (OIS and manual controls is awesome)
Fingerprint sensor
Double tap to wake
4gb ram
No lag
USB-c (expensive cables but soooo nice to press in the cable and dont have to think about upside down ;p
Community, more custom Roms and kernels. I think it's one guy cooking Roms for the Play, Only one....
Moto X Play:
Battery (this is the best with this phone, easy 6-7h SoT) With the oneplus i get 4h SoT with the same use.
Quick charge
Camera in daylight. Inside in poor light it's pretty bad.
Well, thats it... The oneplus is heavier but i like it, it feels more premium. I love the feeling with my kevlar back.
The Play lags alot, but it's software probs so it will most likely be fixed soon.

Day 3 with my OP2 after sending back my Moto X Pure.....
What I miss about the Moto X Pure:
The great front facing speakers....Biggest complaint on the OP2 is thin sounding speakers
The Moto Gestures and always on listening (even with screen off)
Fast charging of the Moto X Pure....I'd come home from work at 60%, plug it in while I took a shower and change clothes.... 25 minutes later 100%
Daylight picture taking
The speakers (I had to say that one twice, it sounds so good).
What I like better about OnePlus2:
Battery life.... The OP2 gets 3.5 to 4 hrs of SOT... Moto X Pure (not the play), got 3 on a good day and never seen more.
Double tap to wake
Off-screen buttons (like on Samsung)
Notification lights! Probably my biggest complaint with my Moto, I missed the notifications LED.
Feels like a more premium build
Over-all picture taking - Not quite as good in nice light, but better in every other situation.
Fingerprint scanner, even though I don't use it, is quick....
More accessories that actually FIT.
A few more ROM's available.
FYI: I sent my Moto X Pure back because it has a few QC issues and I pre-ordered a Nexus 6P. If the OP2 had front speakers, I'd just keep it instead.... Really wish it did.
Imo, both phones are different takes on the same goal. For me it came down to the cpu/screen tradeoff as its clear both phones will have thriving dev communities (cm is really coming along for the pure now in month 1 of release).
The 810 in the OPT was just too hot and the screen just too bland. The 808 and qhd screen of the MXP have been a much more enjoyable experience for me.

Anyone else play PUBG on their Note 4?

Honestly, I had no idea this game existed until around a month ago. I am not big on MP gaming these days. I wanted to test my Note 4 tho. It ran smoothly on the lowest setting and it looked pretty d*mn good. I played for about thirty minutes with no visible lag. I was surprised considering the age of this phone.
In any case, to any of you reading, hold onto this phone! It's still a 'beast". Comes with plenty of storage, memory, expandable storage, removable battery, amazing high res display, great GPU that has stood the test of time, plus of course the stylus. Also plays Youtube videos in 1080p.
This phone will always be my "baby" and often my daily driver and I am never letting it go even tho I have many other devices. I could never bring myself to sell it. Seriously attached to this phone since I bought it new back in 2014.
On top of that, it runs beautifully on even Android Pie roms and there are still people developing roms for this phone.
I am still excited about this phone even after of these years! Let's hear it for our Note 4's! :highfive::victory:
Android Pie?
For note 4 EXYNOS?
Share the link for any ROM if you have one for note 4.

Yes, Android Pie. The Resurrection Remix rom. It's the snapdragon processor. It was a smooth experience.
Rom link here;

I would love to try the AOKP rom as well. I used them on my Samsung Galaxy S3.
Ok than, I thought that you have found something for our EXYNOS version.
Unfortunately I have no Snapdragon device any more.
Thx

Installing custom rom. Makes gaming experience bit better
I tried pubg on the note 4
It was so laggy and minutes later the thing would run flaming hot
Cod is okay on the phone with lags at first and smooth afterwards
Im looking forward to upgrade to the note 8 if i have the money in the future
Other than that daily usage is good for a 2014 device

Did you lower the settings? It ran really good on medium settings and never noticed any heat issues. Maybe it's because I am using a custom rom.

Me too! I'm also not a advanced MP player but cause of my curiousity about performance of my phone, I downloaded PUBG Mobile and played for a little time. Obviously, Note 4 haven't been the best (Goodness is changable, but in performance, definitely not the best anymore, objectively.) phone or phablet anymore, performances of Note 7, Note 8 etc. are better than, Note 9 and Note 10 etc. are much better than its performance, but I think Note 4 has already (Approx. since mid-2016.) transformed into a budget phone, price/performance phone rather than a flagship phone. As a budget phone or price/performance phone, I think it is better than a lot of new-released budget phones, especially Xiaomi's budget phone models. (Only about RAM, processor etc. specs, seem senseless for someone but Note 4 is definitely more versatile device than all of budget models.)
However, Note 4 still has flagship specs. Firstly, its awesome screen. 1440p 515 PPI Super AMOLED screen still great, even, many flagship models still hasn't got screen like this. Not only about 1440p 515 PPI Super AMOLED specs, but also its aspect ratio is great. Problem of design of new phones is that. Screen without a “notch” at the top of the screen or a “chin” bezel at the bottom is huge improvement but aspect ratio became worse. They have narrower width and bigger length. This is big problem for watching something. Additionally, removable back and battery, IR Blaster, approx. 100 dB Speaker, 4K Ultra HD video recording (This seems senseless but For example, Samsung Galaxy A50 has NOT 4K UHD recording in stock, you may have 4K UHD recording with third party apps. And many budget phones has not 4K UHD recording and 1440P recording for front camera.) and finally, its awesome S-Pen! With S-Pen, tablets completely become senseless. I've been using my Note 4 for 43 months, close to complete its 4th year, I don't think buy a new phone anyway. I'm planning to use it until it'll become decisively obsolete. With rooting and a Custom ROM, its performance is still great. :good:
Hi bro. I only use Rom Refined nougat tw 7.0
Very smooth gameplay pubg
Lest try Refined Nougat V.60 Tw 7.0
Have Game experience too and smootly gameplay PUBG
