Virtual Machine Linux Using VirtualBox:
How to inject root if you do not have a designated Linux machine. Pictures included in the step numbers!
Configuring VirtualBox:
1. Download, install and run VirtualBox
2. Create a new virtual machine. Abbreviated to VM from here on out.
3. Select your preferred distribution of Linux. I chose Ubuntu as I find it to be the most user friendly experience.
4. Designate preferred amount of RAM for the VM. Slide the arrow to adjust, but stay in the green to avoid complications.
5. Create a virtual disk for Linux to be installed onto.
6. Choose VirtualBox Disk Image to keep things simple.
7. Choose Fixed size for the storage on the physical disk.
8. Choose amount of storage and create. 8 gigabytes should be plenty as you can share folders, which we will do later on.
9. Download your preferred version of Linux, or Ubuntu in my case. I placed it into the VirtualBox folder for ease of access.
10. Run the Linux VM and chose the previously downloaded system image for the start up disk.
You should now be able to boot up a Linux VM to use to inject root into system images with! Just finish the installation process like you would a new computer.
Some tips:
If you followed the guide using Ubuntu, choose to fully install it, do not worry about the warning under erase disk and install Ubuntu, that only applies to the drive we just created and it wont erase anything.
Host key is the CTRL key on the right side of the keyboard, use that for hotkeys as the left one will have no effect.
HostCTRL + F is the full screen shortcut.
Sharing Folders:
1. In the VirtualBox window, click the device setting and choose Insert Guest Additions CD Image and run the program. Enter in your password you chose while setting up Ubuntu. It will install and once it is done you can restart the VM by clicking the gear in the top right corner.
2./2.5 Open the device settings again and go to the shared folder settings. Click the blue folder with the green plus and chose the file you wish to share and what you want to name it. I chose the entire C: drive to make everything easier. Select auto mount it and make it permanent.
3. Open up Files and create a destination for the shared folder simply by right clicking in Files and create new folder.
4. CTRL + ALT + T to open a new terminal and type in
Code:
sudo mount -t vboxsf FOLDERNAME /PATH/OF/FOLDER
Input your password after running the command, hit enter and the folders should be shared.

I'm downloading your 10G rooted image. I have 10E on my Bell G4. What would be the procedure to flash your image on my phone?

Sweet. Now we can finally get a proper thread going with all our resources on the first page. This will make the process so much quicker for the new comers

Please do not flash the 10G rooted system image over you 10E G4! It states in the highlighted red text not to do so. I appologize if that was unclear. I am trying to compile all of the nessessary information into the first post and as you can imagine, it is a lot of work. I am actively working with my G4 but have only started doing so since the 10G update so I do not have any files other than the image I had rooted myself.
The DIY root injection guide found in my first post and in this quote is exactly how I injected root myself into my own system image. I've also wrote up a guide on how to install a linux virtual machine so you can do it yourself if you do not have linux machine.
Alternatively, if you can upload your 10E system image, I will gladly download it and inject root myself and have it uploaded into the main post.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the response. So how can I flash a 10G file and root at the same time? Or should I just root what I have and hope Bell wakes up and releases the update?

You do not flash a rooted image unless it matches the software version of your device. You need to find a rooted 10E image or inject root into your own ripped system image from your device. I currently do not have a 10E system image. If you supply me with your 10E system image, I can inject root into it for you if you cannot do it yourself. The steps to root your phone yourself are found here in this guide.
I am trying to find one right now.

Could he not flash the Telus 10G KDZ on his phone and then flash the 10G rooted system image you posted on his phone? I thought we found out that you could any carrier's KDZ on the Canadian LG G4s? (he would just have to manually input his APN afterwards)

You can flash any Canadian H812 KDZ or system image on ANY Canadian H812, regardless of carrier.
It is recommended to flash the full KDZ first though if the version is different that what you are already running, to prevent issues.

Yes sir. Always triple check all of your files match the device also.

Love that this was decided on. The orphaned thread was a minefield for the new folks here.
In the OP, perhaps give an example of what kdz you are using and what rooted image is compatible...good for you for putting the warning in red, but I would emphasize again. Here is how I would make the post look:
------------
Rooted System Images:
NEVER MISMATCH SOFTWARE VERSIONS AS IT COULD RESULT IN A BRICKED DEVICE. Match your phone's software version with the corresponding image **ie. A Telus H81210H stock image needs to be fully installed BEFORE flashing the Telus H81210H rooted image. Also note that a Telus KDZ is compatible with a Bell, Rogers, etc. device. Just make sure that if you use a Telus KDZ, you flash the Telus rooted image**

Stupid question, how do I flash this phone?

Read the first post

I see that the 10G OTA is out for Wind, but Rogers already has the 10H.
Anyone know the difference? I am currently on 10F.
For the OTA description, it just says usability improvements through Google patch.

So there is a YouTube video of the Korean model G4 with twrp and a locked bootloader.. Hopefully this is the beginning of better things.

For anyone interested here is the firmware image for Verizon Nexus 6 [5.1] [ LMY47E].

Not sure what's actually different but the build number is different, LMY47D vs LMY47E.
Could this be flashed with twrp without losing custom recovery?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Hopefully we will find out if there are any significant changes or additions. I really hope that I do not need to follow a Verizon firmware through the life of this phone. I hope that there is nothing meaningful in the E version.
Not positive as I am just downloading it, but pretty sure it is the factory image for the Nexus 6 for VZW so I imagine it will remove root and probably custom recovery.
But the nice thing about the Nexus 6 is that you are NOT tied to your carrier's firmware/ROM's for it. Unlike previous phones, there are only two versions, US and International. So we don't have to worry if 'x ROM' is for the T-Mobile version, the Sprint version, etc., etc.
Well no worries this all but confirms vzw is rootable and unlockable
Anyone Flash this yet?
Has anyone flashed this yet...very interested how you went about it and what the results are.....thx
Is there a rooted version??

Also waiting another few hours for download to complete. In the mean time, just parsing all the attributes of the file name:
LMY47E: Newer than LMY47D, which is explicitly called 5.1.0 on the Nexus Factory Image page (not the usual numbering convention, which would be 5.1; possibly foreshadowing that they know 5.1.1 is hot on its heels)
release-keys: signed by Google
subsidy-default: Includes parameters that resets the SIM Lock on the radio to "default" status, which we assume is factory-unlocked.
CFC: any idea what means?
I would assume this also gives us an image for the /oem partition
Judging by the name this was made on the same day as the image on Google's website, so it is very unlikely that there are major changes.
Nexus 6 subsidy lock config
@autoprime:
1. Does the contents of the included slcf_rev_b_default_v1.0.nvm look like plain QMI commands to you?
2. Do you still have a user-friendly one-click tool that can send DFS commands to a device in diag mode?
How to Flash
Maybe a dumb question... but can this be TWRP flashed (I thinking no) or is there some other method? I was thinking this was a standard recovery image that could be flashed in stock recovery?? Other than that, I am not sure... if anyone has success flashing let me know!

I believe you will need the Motorola Fastboot tool (mfastboot) to flash this in the motoboot mode. You can get it from the MotoDev site, or search on the forums. Note that this is NOT the same as the standard fastboot that ships with the Android SDK (which will also work with the Nexus 6, but not with this particular zip file).

Does the firmware seem configured for VZW? VZW ringtones and boot animation and the like? Or does it appear like something that Google will drop on us in the near future? I wonder if it will ever hit the factory images page?

Question: I think I may have been under the same circumstances as you. I am rooted, with TWRP, and bootloader unlocked. I am however, running a custom rom (5.0.1 encrypted). I won't be relocking the bootloader. What steps (if you are able to provide them) should I take to achieve 5.1 with bootloader still locked and then root and install TWRP. (Please keep in mind I a have not had a Nexus device since the very first one).
Edit: I am on VZW network but Google Play Store Nexus 6.
TIA
Will do... I am still setting up the phone. Once I complete it and make sure it works fine for a little bit then I'll post. Don't want to cause any issues that might lead to someone bricking their phone

System partition looks complete, but I won't have time to do a diff between the two until next week. But by then, we might have an official changelog.

I don't have an AT&T device to test, but applying this file certainly attempts to set the SIM lock to it's default factory-unlocked state. But it's also possible the radio firmware could reject the unlock commands if it has been previously locked by a carrier. Only way to know is to test.

There is an oem partition file within the zip, but it's literally just the string "Hi, Fly Guy". Just open oem.img with a text editor to see it. I cannot imagine that is a valid ext img file, so I'm shocked that it was able to be flashed. If so, that would suggest that the Verizon devices will ship with no unique customizations (e.g., bootanimation, ringtones, that cannot be removed without root), and has a sense of humor.

@mahst68, did you flash only the image files, or also the subsidy_lock_config file (slcf....nvm)? What mfastboot command did you use to send the slcf? What was the response did you get back from that command? And when you flashed the oem.img what response did you get back?

will a nandroid backup do for you? If so i can definitely help you out
i was looking for a link or two
I recently just got back into carrier devices an havent bothered with moddin devices in about two years i own two nexus devices an have sideloaded them for years with corporate emails an only have gone as far as tweakin boot images an on my older droids flashing custom mods daily... My only question remains with these newer junky devices how does one gain su if needed safely for things like otg access. It seems to me almost every carrier device is worth rooting an modding nowadays, an nexus devices are still the only ones that have a program thats stable an universal for all manufactuers as far as updating an management of a os whether it be stock or the user decides to go third party.
With that said.. Thats why awhile ago i stopped modding phones, using a windows tablet (for a full version of msdos) an since i had mastered my PB9110 version of my nexus one, i would flash my images via adb and sideload images with command line, in time ive sampled nexus after nexus, never using (play) an now back to a carrier device with no program support except 3rd party mods... Which in reality is great once you do have a nandroid backup an a stock rom... Thus the ability with the nexus factory image. Where are the steps and how tos my friends????

Hey! I just used a program called Flashify (Found on Google Play Store) to back up both my Kernel (Boot) and System (Recovery) for my LG LEON LTE. I haven't attempted to reinstall these backups using Flashify as of yet, since I just rooted my phone and installed TWRP bootloader so I can try out a ROM... so, I have no idea how it works or if you can use it with any other bootloader app. However, I am attempting to offer you some kind of OEM Backup. I'm pretty new at some of this. I haven't posted enough to add links yet, but I'm going to try.
I have a LG Leon LTE for T-Mobile. My OEM details are as follows:
Android Version: 5.1.1 Lollipop
Baseband Version: MPSS.DPM.2.0.c11-00021-M8936FAAAANUZM-1.19638.1.19833.1
Kernel: 3.10.49
Build: LMY47V
Software Version: H34510f
These downloads are only available until 11/26/2015 due my only having a free account on the hosts site. I hope they help!
Kernel (Boot): OEM 3.10.49 @ http: //sabercathost. com/5Y7 (60 second wait for free download)
System (Recovery): OEM @ http: //sabercathost. com/5Y8 (60 second wait for free download)
Again.. I used Flashify (for root users) free from Google Play Store to create these backups. I have no clue if they can be used by any other programs for recovery. If you have/or can get Flashify, I'd like to believe they can be used for your STOCK recovery.
I may try and make a more common backup of these using ROM Toolbox Pro and see if I can host the files elsewhere that isn't limited to 7 days before paying for premium. If I do, I'll come back and update you or anyone else in need with the new locations.
Wish you luck!
Could u please post that I need a nandroid of that desperately

Convert Canadian 6045i to US 6045i with all updates (performance, stagefright, etc).

Be very careful doing this, you could brick your phone if you aren't - you have been warned.
Okay, so, us Idol 3 users in Canada are stuck waiting for Alcatel to have any updates blessed by our cell carrier (Bell/Virgin, Telus/Koodo) before we're "allowed" to get them. And as we all know, Canadian cell carriers aren't exactly prompt about this sort of thing. So what's an enterprising XDA user to do, then? Why, convert your device to a US model, of course!
Step 1: Install TWRP
That can be done with this thread here, courtesy of @DallasCZ
Step 2: Download the latest US firmware
That can be done by downloading this file here, courtesy of @famewolf
Step 3: Flashing
Okay, so first, BACK UP YOUR EXISTING FIRMWARE. Take a system image, or nandroid, as your choice may be. Be sure to back up the boot partition as well, in case you ever want to go back to stock Canadian firmware! Then, do the following:
Decompress the US firmware
Copy the decompressed 1970-01-22--16-43-23_LRX22G_release-keys folder into your TWRP/Backups/XXXXX/ folder on your External SD card or USB-OTG storage, where XXXXX is your device ID assigned by TWRP when you backed up your existing firmware - it is also the same as your device ID if you type 'adb devices' with your phone hooked up with USB debugging enabled for adb commands.
Wipe everything *but* External SD and USB-OTG in TWRP. (This entire wipe may not be needed, but as @KashRaman pointed out, if you don't at least wipe cache, you could have issues after flashing the new firmware)
DO NOT REBOOT - go back, and select Restore in TWRP. Pick the US firmware backup.
Flash *both* the boot and system image.
Reboot System. If your phone does the same as mine, it will seem to get stuck on the 'Alcatel/Smart Move' animation. Hold power until the phone turns off, then turn it back on. It should quickly go to 'Upgrading Android'.
You're done! Set up your device, and feel free to install SuperSU, remove bloatware (AVG? Ugh), etc.
I didn't even need to add APN info for Virgin Mobile, it already set up the Bell Canada APN - worked right away out of the box.
One comment to note - I do not know that a Canadian device converted to a US one can get OTA updates, as I believe Alcatel uses some sort of IMEI identification to see what OTA ought to be passed to a device, but I'm unable to confirm this. Of course, I'm personally fine with just manually updating when need be, but that's up to you to decide if you are as well.
AS ALWAYS, BE CAREFUL, DO THIS PROCESS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Don't forget to thank @DallasCZ and @famewolf for their posts/uploads making this possible!
To save you some pain you can more thank likely flash the system image and boot without wiping your /data.....if for some reason you ran into issues you'd still be able to go into factory recovery and do a reset which deletes data.
Also to anyone who actually uses AVG the pro version is free on amazon appstore today only.
Also you don't have to INSTALL twrp...you can opt to only boot into it using the instructions in the system image thread if you prefer to keep stock recovery.
If I had to bet I'd say you'll get the USA notifications but we will find out on next update.

Totally correct on the TWRP thing, though I prefer it to stock recovery, and updates work just fine with TWRP as well.
As for the not wiping - again, correct, I just come from the 'do a total wipe' school of flashing things, to avoid any possible weirdness

Copy the decompressed 1970-01-22--16-43-23_LRX22G_release-keys folder into your TWRP/Backups/XXXXX/ folder on your External SD card or USB-OTG storage, where XXXXX is your device ID assigned by TWRP when you backed up your existing firmware.

When restoring the UE40 firmware the first time you go into system update checker you need to delete the existing UE40 update as it kept it around...you should then be able to check updates as normal.
Manually update
At the end of your post, you say that you update manually.. where do you get your update ?

I mean that when the next update comes out, if I can't use the OTA update, I'll wait for someone to upload it here, and then I'll manually apply it. If you follow the directions in my post, you'll be totally up-to-date as of August 15th, 2015 - I'm referring to the next update, whenever that may be.
Thanks for the guide!
Was able to update my Canadian idol 3 without installing twrp
Just fastbooted into it and did a backup of my old CDN setup and restored with the file above the whole update process took about 15min
If **** hits the fan I can still restore back to the original CDN ROM with twrp and my backup.
Dt2w works every time now and chrome scrolling is vastly improved definately worth updating. I may flash back to Canadian system image when they finally release it
To anyone on stock Canadian firmware please post once an OTA is available (and what carrier you are on)
anyone else have lost LTE and get bad network speeds after converting? I had 60mbps with canadian firmware and now i get around 5mbps and lots of network drops.

I'm not in canada but I would think if more folks were experiencing issues like that they would have mentioned them here already. Did you do a factory reset and start clean or did you keep your previous data around after changing firmware? In this case I'd really recommend starting clean with the exception of using tools like Titanium Backup to backup all your user apps+ their data (or you can use Helium if you don't have root).

I had cleared the cache and did a factory reset only after i confirmed the flash of the US firmware was ok. (i have a really bad SD card which keeps unmounting and didnt want to risk being stuck with a non-functional device). In addition to the network problems i also still had the performance issues everyone mentionned was fixed in latest update. I just did a complete wipe and flashed the US again, now the performance is much much better but i still get only H+ with about 7mbps instead of LTE. But the good thing is the drops seems to have stopped.

you probably tried this but... check that the APN didn't get changed/reset from when lte was working.
That was actually the problem, i did not realize it was a different APN for LTE so it looked normal when I first checked. Thank you very much
Has anyone gotten the Canadian stagefright update pushed to their phone yet?

This guide is for converting a Canadian 6045i to a US 6045i - both are identical models with simply slightly different software. It won't work with a European 'Y' model like you said you have.

Step 1) Make a backup on the device so it creates the directory path you need.
Step 2) Take the time datestamp folder from the backup you have and put it in the folder that has the other time datestamp folders. It's not a complicated process. Installing the "root" from the zip file does you no good because the time datestamp folders need to be under a folder with your device id (ie what shows up when you do adb devices).
While the restore process IS the same your questions should be asked in the system image thread if you don't have a 6045i.
According to @petrov.0 it's better for you to install the official 10 06 update (or his modified one in the system image thread) as it updates files in SEVERAL partitions other than system and boot. Again discussion needs to be there.
Apologies to @purple.epod. This will hopefully redirect folks back to the system image thread. I have a line that states to follow your restore tutorial but use their own backup but did not intend for them to be asking questions HERE.

System.img and boot.img won't do any good if you want to run MM without a problem...whole Bootstack is need it to function correctly,
This is a Mayor OS Update not just and a simple jump from Lollipop to Lollipop (5.0.2 to 5.1.1), just a little piece of advice before doing something else with just these 2 files make sure you know what you are doing or you will end up with softbrick...
P.S. LG have implemented a " *AntiRollback / QFuse v*** (* = 1 or 2) feature*" not sure which version you have with Lollipop or you guys even have this but this mean if you screw up with just these 2 files and they are differrent YOU WON'T BE able to KDZ the Latest LP it will Hardbrick your device for good.
I didn't get yet the update but if i get it before anyone ill post the files.

You can dd the system and kernel while leaving aboot, radio, modem, etc intact. Therefore you're running mm 6.0 without touching anything to do with fuses(aboot, PBL, sbl, radio, or modem)
Would you know how long after it will take for a MetroPCS OTA to go out?
Thanks for offering the help, @DrakenFX. They just started rolling today for T-Mobile. I'm on a ROM so I doubt I'll even get notified and was thinking about doing a kdz back to stock to get it, even if it takes a couple weeks. Here's hoping you can work some magic and I can either kdz MM or flash update to it

Im using a tmobile rom with a metro phone/service now so I dont see why mm wont work as well.
MetroPCS users should be able to flash T-Mobile KDZs without issues
To get the T-mobile KDZ file link, you can try the lg OTA URL trick
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=[IMEI]
replace [IMEI] in above link with that of your phones and it should give you a link to the kdz file from LGs servers, I can't try it myself as I am a MetroPCS user so it probably wont give me a relevant kdz
I keep getting an auth failed from the above link with my IMEI anyhow so they may have changed the URL though it may be worth a try for others
Downloading 10j bootstack and ReturnToStock now... not sure I'll follow through and unroot just yet, but I'll be ready if it's necessary. I'm still on 10j, never installed the 10L update.

I have a screenshot of what happens when I go to that site and put in my IMEI. I've removed my IMEI and SN for obvious reasons, but I'm not sure what to do with this information now that I have it.
I just had another thought, and although I won't know how to capture it couldn't we use LG Bridge after returning to stock via kdz to update to MM before the OTA comes our way?

I'm still new to this device. Just bought it from MetroPCS about a week ago. I'm used to Samsung devices, but if the LG Bridge is anything like Samsung Kies you should in theory be able to grab the update from your temp folder after the update is downloaded to the PC. I'm excited to see what the community can do for this device, it truly is something worthwhile for the price. First, we need to get our own dedicated sub forum for our device. After work I'll try to reach out to one of the moderators that I have worked with in the past to see if we can finally get this phone the attention that it deserves.

Edit: it looks like your pic except there's no kdz link in the appropriate xml tags, maybe LG changed something
Here's another question... Do/should I revert back to stock before using LG Bridge or can I just run LG Bridge even though I'm on katana?

unlock boot loader US996

Is this do-able with out unlock.bin??
I've tried using adb/fastboot. ADB reports the device OK; fastboot can't see the device.
I've tried all manner of drivers to load........ I know there are separate drivers for adb and fastboot.
This is driving me nuts.
Finally, are there different SUB-variants of the 996?? One generic and one US Sprint??

The only issue with that response: The DirtySanta thread you link to lists the following devices, admonishing that any others will get bricked:
- Verizon (VS995)
- Sprint (LS997)
- ATT (H910)
- Korean(F800L)
- USS996 (BPT, UCL)
- Canadian (H915)
Unless there's a typo in it, the USS996 is NOT the same as the US996. The US996 is a carrier unlocked US variant. The other US996 is locked to US Cellular. A bit of clarity is necessary here...

Thank you! I am looking that over. One question I do have for you: Is that dump backup needed for anything beyond the EFS to get the IMEI? Asking only because I was able to extract the IMEI already. I'm not physically working on this till the weekend, so I'm going to read up/download stuff in the interim and go from there. If I end up with questions (and I just might from the bit I've read so far*), I'll append this post or reply to it.
* This is an example of where the uncertainty sets in: "For official US996 model owners that do not want to void their warranty, follow the Dirtysanta Sprint(LS997) method but make sure to flash a US996 Stock rom instead." I'm assuming "official" applies to an actual V20 model US996, regardless of carrier/unlock status. I'm extrapolating that the H915 is an US996 with a differently configured kernel. Since the LS997 is only mentioned separately, is the 997 a CDMA version of the (GSM) 996?
LTE is inferred, GSM is for distinction, so I'm assuming the 915 and 996 are GSM devices. I also know Sprint is/was a CDMA carrier. CDMA hardware would infer different modules would be loaded by the kernel, than for GSM, and could therefore hang or brick the device. At least that's where the rail line used by my train of thought takes me. Or, does the difference between CDMA and GSM versions not matter?
You are correct about the broken links: Tilde88's US996 100% Stock deODEXEd Rom, which is listed in the linked article, is a bad link. I did some fairly general "looking" for that ROM elsewhere, found a couple of articles when Google-searching, but haven't had a chance to check those out (that will have to wait until tomorrow). If it turns out that there is no alternate link to the ROM, are there any other ways of getting it, short of looping @Tilde88 in?

Sometimes downgrading your firmware to root your phone will corrupt your EFS on the phone and you have to restore it to get cell service working again or to bring back your IMEI number.
There are four files that are your EFS.
With the phone powered off, hold the down vol and plug in usb to computer to restore EFS.

Before you flash the KDZ to downgrade your firwmare make a DUMP backup of ALL files first it will have your EFS and that's very very important it has your IMEI number. You don't need to dump system or cache.

Ok, so I finally got to where I'm able to run that dump backup. I've been at it for the better part of 8 man hours, and it keeps crashing. Finally got everything backed up except SYSTEM IMAGE. Whenever I try to back up that segment, the backup crashes. You said I don't need to do this against CACHE, which I get. There's both a SYSTEM and a SYSTEM IMAGE, so now I'm wondering if you meant the latter instead of the former... If not, how do I get past this obstacle?
FWIW, I'm writing to an otherwise empty, brand new 32 GB Class 10 card. Initially I was using a surplus 16 GB card, then realized that I was coming up around 4 GB short, and pegged the failure on that. But the same happens on the larger card. In case it matters, the backup gets to about 60% before failing...

Your phone is rooted great.
DUMP backup with LGUP. Might not be to late. Just hold vol up and plug in usb to phone and computer. Go into LGUP and choose DUMP all files. You don't need to dump system or cache. This will save all the files on your computer. Back the files up like google drive or something.
Take battery out and put back in. Then you want to boot into twrp and do a format.
Then your ready to install an OS on your phone. Why don't you check out my rom I made it's stock Oreo debloated. There are some good guides on there also you can follow. link
If you need any more help just ask. I don't mind.
I just wanted to thank you for the guidance to date. Great news: After many fits, starts, wrong turns, interruptions, and muckups both real and imagined, my V20 now has Oreo Lemondrop installed, and I presume it is also rooted.
With the initial hurdle overcome, it's time for new questions (see photos for the first three):
* The device reports no S/N. Normal?
* The OS reports no kernel version. Normal?
* The device still boots to the red triangle before loading Lemondrop. I was under the impression that would go away now, or am I wrong?
* A lot of games and other crud is being installed by Mobile Services Manager. Is that because I missed something?
The latter may not matter much: I'm going to move the SIM from my regular phone to the V20 to see if it will make/receive calls. If it does, it'll get a SIM of its own, so I can use it as a second line. If it doesn't work (I've seen posts about bands not working, etc), I'll be done with it altogether.
However, should the phone work, what'll make this whole enterprise a complete success, will be to install a more current Android release; I'm expecting 10 or 11, but would be tickled if it's 12 or 13. But first things first...

Yeah no SN and no Kernel is normal. It's also normal to have the boot screen come up, it's because your phone is rooted now.
I have to run Oreo because LTE is not working in crDroid or Lineage os. There are proprietary drivers that are in Oreo to make LTE work and they are not in any other android os. But if all you need is 4G then maybe another os would work for you. In the USA they did away with 4G only LTE now. So I thought I would make the Lemon Drop rom, if I have to use Oreo why not make it fast. Plus most everything works in Lemon Drop. Like second screen and so on. I have used crDroid before it's good I will link the files for you.
Update: I found and removed Mobile Services Manager in the latest version of Auto_Debloat. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
crDroid 11 just format and flash in twrp reboot.
also flash Magisk-v21.4.zip so you can have root.
you may have to flash twrp also I am not sure, it's been awhile before I install crDroid. You can always flash twrp in fastboot mode if you have to.
Take Care.

Thank you again, and you're welcome for the bit on the Mobile Services Manager. My apologies for the lag in responding too; real life got in the way for a bit there. I'll look into your suggestion as I get a chance and will report back.

Not a problem. Because I only have an H910 I didn't get all the bloatware on other lgv20 phones. But that Mobile Services Manager is a huge bloatware that installs more bloatware. So I thought I would try and find it and remove it in the latest version. You can update Auto_Debloat and it should get rid of that Mobile Services Manager for you. All you have to do is just flash the new version in twrp and reboot.
