Fedex customs holding issue.. Anybody else? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with Fedex holding your shipment due to the fact that they have to "inspect the package thoroughly" ?
I have been waiting for my MXPE since Wednesday, and every call I make to Fedex seems to have a new twist to the original story. My phone is in "transit" from Memphis, Tennessee since Tuesday.
At first I was under the impression of the Pope's visit causing delays, but does not seem so. Does anyone have suggestions as to what to do in this case, seeing as Fedex doesnt know how long they're holding it for?

Mine has been in Customs hell since early Thursday morning. The message says "Shipment documentation indicates value discrepancy. Correct value of shipment is required." At this point, who knows how accurate that is. Original FedEx delivery date was the 28th, but that has since changed to No ETA at this time."

Mine was in customs last week starting the very early AM of Saturday and did not get released until Monday around 5:30pm and then I received my phone that Tuesday morning

ALL MXPE orders coming from Motorola go through the "clearance delay" or some type of customs issue. There is a huge thread/complaint about this on Android Central forums - http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...oto-x-style-order-shipping-discussion-67.html. The bulk of the "complaints" or talk of it is around page 50 or post #1100.
My first order of 2 phones went through it. It took about 2 days before it was shipped out. My replacement that was shipped out 1-2 days ago is now in Memphis TN and has the same message. It should be cleared up by either Sunday or Monday and should be delivered the next day by 10:30am.

I was supposed to get mine on the 22nd. Of course not even close and since then got one from Amazon. One or both are going back, not happy with it being over a week late and the one from Amazon having issues. Any other comparable phone I can get for VZW that I an root?

Strange. Mine shipped direct from China as well, but without any issues. FedEx picked it up on Monday the 21st and I received it the next day. I ordered mine direct from Moto's customization page.

Mine showed customs delay for about eight hours. After that it was out of customs and is currently still on track for Tuesday delivery.

Mine was in the delay also. However, I still received the phone by the expected delivery date of the 15th of this month (actually got it on the 14th). Seems like this is a normal occurrence.

I've been a Samsung die-hard since the first Galaxy but with the introduction of the S6 it all went downhill for me. LG sucks, HTC is too expensive and Moto had a clear 8-lane highway with no traffic with a 200-MPH sports car to make me their customer... but this dumd a$$3$ forgot to tell the driver he needed to know how to drive a manual transmission and therefore my package is now delayed. Yes that was an analogy, so simple any other company could've done it. Obviously Moto is not up to par with the big boys. Just want my damn phone already. I even took the 28th and 29th off so I would have enough time to play with the phones. #FMLMoto #MotoFailure #BigFail

My tracking info looks exactly the same as yours, even the time stamp

mine had an expected delivery 10:30 am today in NY as of last night. today it's "pending"
with the last update from friday that its in transit in memphis friday morning.

Mines in the same state since I found out it was on Clearance Delay on Friday(9/25). Called FedEx up, and was suppose to get a call back so I could provide the info they needed(correct value of shipment). Didn't get a call back.
Called them again on Saturday, and I got a call first thing this morning from FedEx, and the lady stated that there is nothing they can do and are waiting on the shipper to provide the necessary paperwork to get it out of 'delay' status. She stated, my item might have no issues at all, but it's part of a shipment of other items(on a pallet), and it can't leave until it gets the proper paperwork... wtf.... she even stated she don't know how long it will be in that state..

Motorola support provided some answer into this problem. It seems Motorola ships our phones in patches. And when they reach Memphis port, the patches will be randomly pulled by US customs to check for proper documentation and such. This is usually cleared within 2 business days. That's why Motorola usually adds 2 business days to the estimated delivery time to account for these random customs check.
Here's mine that was stuck in customs random check for 2 days.

Mine is still in Customs delay from Thursday night.
Whatever, Nexus announcement is tomorrow. Probably all the best I didn't get my Pure two weeks ago when it was promised.

Take what they tell you with a grain of salt. All MXPE's that I've seen and even on AndroidCentral (http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...y-moto-x-style-order-shipping-discussion.html), every package has gone through this "clearance delay"
My first package has gone through it and my 2nd package is also the same.
In AndroidCentral, people have gotten different response multiple times. Ranges from there is no delay, it's just FedEx to the proper documents have been submitted to consumers shouldn't be seeing any of those messages.
Contacting FedEx is a mute point as well because they'll bounce it back to Motorola say that they're waiting for documents, etc.

Expansys promised to ship my device on Tuesday 3rd May 2011, 1st batch.. No NFC, Exynos dual 1.2.. I did got some different versions of specs/stock details from different customer service agents..

Yup, dates kept changing on main site for me (looking at expansys.co.uk). Received mail confirming shipping on Tuesday 3rd of May, so I guess this is happening.
Well they said 3rd May confirmed,, lets see
total preorders by 28th April 2011= 281
stock expected= 500
Warehouse in Uk and France, Mine will be shipped from UK where as on 2nd they will have stock in France and they will ship it on 3rd.

I Called DHL and they said that following are new requirements for Dubai Custom
1. shipment Product's "Country of Origin".
2. Sender should Mention on invoice, its for "Personal use"
3. HS Code (Harmonized System Code) of the products.
Please note that without above details, shipment will not be cleared by Dubai customs, so please make sure its mentioned.
I suggest different people should find out any such particular requirements for your Custom authorities.

Weird but when I track my order, I don't get such details.. it just shows what emails are sent.. being in Progress status

Now Expansys shows 2 more days (4th May) for stock WTF? Clove still says 3rd May. HandTech says 3rd May

Im glad i orderd at Gum Mobile they did promise me they will be getting them before any other retailers (apart from p4u) and they have done wat they said as mine arrives 2mrw, The bank hol has made a big impact in delay with many retailers include some exclusive p4u shops

Friend of mine did the same back with his HD2 with the result that with Amazon then he had to wait 6 weeks since all preorders were worked down by Amazon and he was last on the list .................
Just spoke to someone from Expansys UK and they said they have it in stock and is expecting to ship it tomorrow.
Someone call expansys uk and see if they are being truthful

Handtec order, shipped Nov 1 .

Did anyone order from handtec.co.uk ?
Is it shipped ?
Their site says that will have a batch in today.

Does not surprise me in the least.
Handtek are reknown for advertising a product way in advance giving false information just to get customers to pre-order and take their money.
Then come the day they mysteriously don't have stock.
Look at their site on the 32GB version. They are taking pre-orders at just over £700 a phone and taking the money now........ As we know there's no sign when and if the 32GB model will be shipped.

Not a thing... Because Samsung said there would be a 32GB version at some stage sellers can advertise it if they want. However it's all a question of who do you help.. yourself or your customers.
I clearly remember when the Galaxy S was being advertised by Samsung that it would be available in both 8GB and 16GB models.
Clove and Handtek soon started advertising both models for pre-sales taking monies.
However it soon became clear the larger 16GB model was going to carriers only.
Clove then stopped advertising the 16GB model but Handtek carried on.
I contacted Handtek informing them that no SIM FREE 16GB model would be coming to them...
This though did not stop them carrying on taking pre-orders and money for a phone they would not get.
In the end all those who had pre-ordered the 16GB model were instead offered the smaller 8GB.
Basically, Handtek are a business and businesses have to operate tight in order to keep them afloat. It's how they effect customers though which should be their priority.

I went with Handtec on that basis.
Of course I will get it.
Just supicious of the ever changing dates.

As I have said elsewhere, I notice on the 'microsite' samsung set up for it, the 32GB model is not listed in the specifications.

As I have already said Guys, it's all a ploy to get you to order with them early.
Handtek do this time after time after time.... They will tell you an early date so as to get you to pre-order and part with your hard earned cash then come the day of shipment it's then mysteriously been put back for some reason not of their doing.
At worse is when they advertise a product and take pre-orders with payment for goods that simply there is no known date, sometimes these products will not even make it to their stores. Take a look at their advertisement of the Galaxy Note 32GB model here. You will notice they are taking pre-orders but we are not even sure yet the 32GB will come to SIM FREE.
Clove on the other hand are being honest... They have no idea either but unlike Handtek they don't advertise nor take pre-orders or cash.
I will say they will ship orders on the same day that Clove ship.
Any place that takes your money when you preorder is questionable.

It's all a question of timing....
If a product has an unknown date or a date that is weeks away then yes, a pre-order with funds debited from credit cards should not take place.
If however a product has a known date that falls within a week or so then yes a pre-order with funds debited is to be expected from sellers who take orders in mass block.
The reason why they take funds prior to shipment is because they need to have your payment record complete. If not and you have not paid they then need to either contact you again or contact your credit card company which all takes time prior to shipment.
When these sellers who deal in mass block (could be a couple of hundred orders) obviously they want to get out as many orders in the day as possible. However, having to recontact the buyer or their credit card company all adds to delays which in turn makes an angry would be customer waiting for his/her order.
So, technically Handtek are doing the right thing in getting all details including payment out of the way.... However, where they then spoil it is by either taking the funds far, far too early or taking funds for items that clearly they will not receive.
Clove on the other hand only advertise when they know an item will be released at some stage and only take funds within nearer the release (I think mine was taken 10 days prior to the Nov 3rd expected date).
Note:
Clove have only recently started to do pre-orders with payment.
They used to only take pre-orders but found new orders these days are much much higher in demand. As such under their old way of operating they simply did not have the time in the day to complete all orders in one day.
It is regrettable yes but at least the pre-order with payment in this case does at the least guarantee the day they receive stock from the wholesalers it gets shipped to the buyer either that very same day or the day after.

I just checked with them in regards to my preorder - they confirmed that they have received a bunch of units, which will be shipped out today. My order was for the cheaper "operator branded" version, which they haven't received yet but are are apparently still expecting sometime later today as well.
Obviously we won't know anything for sure until people start getting their tracking numbers, but I have spoken to them several times and while this is the first order I have placed with them I have been pretty impressed with their professionalism. Didn't like the live chat though - they were kind of useless as far as pre-sales questions go (plus I got cut off several times), so I reverted to just calling and speaking to sales, who have been really helpful.......
Price has dropped. As per handtec:

I just got my price difference refund in 15 minutes.

My order went through on October 26th, and he said today that this was a fairly early order so will be in the first batch - so yours will definitely go out first. If I'd known the price of the standard version was going to drop I probably would have ordered that instead - but I'm sure the operator logo is easily removed (not that it would matter if it wasn't). Just hope these branded units come in quickly.

Called them again today and was told that they have shipped orders till the OCt 24th.
Mine was on 26th and will be shipped out tomorrow.
I ordered the one with network logo.
Should have ordered the one without. Damn !!!!!!!!!
Even if they ship tomorrow, the chances that i will get before the weekend is bleak.

For Everyone wondering and speculating, I got an email this morning from Dbrand. I ordered the CF skin for the Nexus 6 last week on the 29th. I got a shipping notification email this morning... which was rescinded almost 2 hours later...

So, I guess it's safe to assume that the N6 won't hit anyone's mailbox before the 18th which totally jibes with the original forecast of the 21st.
I guess the bad news is that if I don't get a shipping notice from Dbrand before Friday the N6 delivery date of the 21st has just hit the bottom of the toilet. That means the N6 won't be on the street until later than that.
Using the info I have this means that no one is getting their phone before the 21st.
Does this sound right?

Honestly you can't assume that DBrand shipping date has anything to do with the N6 shipping date...

(If it isn't clear, these companies have absolutely no idea when the Nexus 6 will be here and it's downright silly to think that they would have that kind of information.)
Why are you guys flaming the OP? I think it's naive to think these companies don't know the details. They probably have pre-production models to use to develop their products. They also know when the product their accessory is made for will be released. How else will they know when to ramp up production, release dates for their product, etc.? They probably have NDA's in place with Google.

Why are you guys flaming the OP? I think it's naive to think these companies don't know the details. They probably have pre-production models to use to develop their products. They also know when the product their accessory is made for will be released. How else will they know when to ramp up production, release dates for their product, etc.? They probably have NDA's in place with Google.

Exactly. They have already shown they have an Nexus 6 in their possession.
However it does seem iffy because the said company is very small.

Besides that the thing that made me suspect that they may know the actual release date is that they specifically mentioned that they'd have it delivered to my door before the N6. Why bother to even mention that I'd have it before my phone arrives unless you knew when it would ship?
Why would it seem so impossible that a company that makes its living off of another product would know when it would hit the market?

The only thing that makes me suspicious about this is their delivery window. How can they possibly tell you that it'll get there before your nexus when they deliver in 7-14 days? 7 days is a pretty big window when deliveries are concerned.

Maybe, but it seems like a stretch. It's more likely that they're just going with the ship date that everyone is dreading. Nov 21st. Which just so happens to fit perfectly with your theory.

They could ship it today or tomorrow and it would still be here before the Nexus 6. This post makes no sense. They said that I would get it before the N6. Not the day before.

1: seeing that Dbrand is a Canadian based company, could they possibly know the Canadian release date and not the American one? so if they did actually have information on release date, they may be referring to one that is weeks after the US launch anyway... so like.. we will get our skins before the Canadians get their N6's lol

Actually after researching the cognitive data from the spectral decay of the rotational veleodensity of the earths magnetic forces, I found that the sum of the reverse entropy was not added. After analyzing all the new data and figuring in all applicable data the Nexus 6 was neither behind nor in front of him. It was below and above and the the right but not the left of him. But that's neither here nor there because due to the large time lapse its already urinated in his cheerios and secretly placed the "Kick Me" sticker on his back.

ooops, my bad .. but it does not give you anything without the CVC numbers anyway .. still my mistake. 3T got me overexcited.
Next 1+3T pop-up event (the only way to get 1+3T in EU earlier than 28th november + shipping time) is in London, UK on November 24, at 3:02pm, but I have no further information in respect of the available stock.
I stayed up, and honestly wish I hadn't. I tried ordering with my Credit Card, which got stuck in payment pending and somehow duplicate orders (two orders in my history, and ended up hitting fraud detection on the CC). Couldn't get it figured out at the time, so called Oneplus at 4AM EST and was told "Oh well, put in another order with different payment." So I wound up doing that, but instead of it shipping tomorrow like the original order it's now listed as Friday. Just a debacle for me.
I didn't wake up, I stayed awake. Stressed about it all day refreshing pages and tuning everything else out so I wouldn't miss it.

Wasn't at all pissed when it didn't run out of stock in the morning - why would I, I got my own phone ordered, so? The frustrating part was DHL shipping, who put my shipping 3 times on hold in Los Angeles. But nevertheless, I'm holding my phone in my hand now and I am super happy with the purchase! EDIT: well, at least it got shipped the 28th evening - so I'm optimistic

Best Buy Pre-Order

Ok, so I pre-ordered the S10+ 128GB Prism Black from Best Buy as a pickup (On Feb 22nd, says it will be ready for pickup March 8), I'm now reading several horror stories as well as past experience being terrible. In a nutshell when I had pre-ordered the S8+ from BB, got an email saying it was ready for pickup, went to the store, I find out they sold my reserved device to somebody else... All in all I was able to pickup the phone from another store the same day. As I was searching around I've found that situation has happened to many more people.
Any insight from someone with past experience doing pre-order pick ups from BB on major release days? Any hiccups or problems along the way you may have faced especially for phones?
More than once I've went through that nightmare at BB. I swore to myself no matter what incentives they offered I'd never pre-order with them again

Just use the shipping option. It's free and you will get it on release day. Best of all you don't have to walk into a BB store!

Lol, I can't, FedEx and UPS don't bother knocking on my door, ever. I'm in an apartment so they just leave the door tag notice at the lobby door and never attempt to look for my name in the dial box.
And if I ever make the choice of going to the FedEx store to pick it up with the door tag, they'll tell me the driver left the package in the truck and they can't get in. I've gotten 3 packages returned because of this. I don't know if I have bad luck, or it's like this for everyone else in Los Angeles.
I'm waiting for my S10+ 1TB/12GB Ceramic Black. Order status still shows "Preparing for Pickup on Friday". They better not give that away, as I'm sure the inventory of the 1TB model will be limited. Does anyone think there's a micro chance of early delivery, or is Best Buy going to sit on them until Friday regardless of when they arrive?

I don't think they'll release them early, either tomorrow or Thursday we should get an email saying it's ready for pickup. Then apparently someone will call us to schedule an appointment for Friday to come in.

This AM the cancel button is finally gone. Still shows "preparing". It will have to ship today to arrive tomorrow. I've ordered from BB before and this happens. My account gets charged when it ships and even though it gets shipped ground I get it the next day because the point of origin is always within a day range for ground shipping. Of course there's always a risk of exception and this means it wouldn't arrive until Monday.
If it were outside of the one day range (for ground) they'd either have to ship earlier or use a more expensive service to assure delivery by release date.
I was in a BB store (a rarity for me haha!) yesterday and noticed they had the phones on display. Just from the initial impressions it was mostly meh (I have a Note 9 so that bar is higher) but I did play with the camera briefly and it definitely got my attention.

I just got another transaction from BB on my card, $100 tax. Strange because they charged me the same amount already a week ago, maybe the second charge will go away after I pick it up
As far as Best Buy Canada goes, my S10+ pre-order was supposedly lost in transit. Four hours of calling around later, replacement order is in, and will be arriving in around two weeks. Can't say I'm all that happy, but at least it's on the way again.
Finally got the email it shipped around 1800 local time. Fed Ex home delivery from NY. Scheduled delivery Friday by end of day. Talk about waiting until the last minute! :|
My order status has been stuck on "Preparing for Pickup Today" all day. It's now 13:00 on a Friday. Seriously doubt I'll see it today.

same, although I got notified it's ready for pickup an hour and a half after the store opened, was able to pick it up shortly after. Their customer service and order tracking is completely terrible. Next time it's directly from my carrier or Samsung.
I picked up my 2 devices Friday and it was pretty painless. They gave me a gift card for my 2 trade ins which I applied towards the new phones. I did order a blue and prism white but they couldn't find the blue one. They offered to hold one for me when the truck came in but I liked the prism white better anyways so they used an extra white one to give to me.
Process was easy for me.

I preordered the first day in store at Bestbuy. It kept saying up until 6pm on March 8, Preparing for Pickup. At 6pm I get an email saying that it's delayed and if they can't fulfill my order by April 7th they'll cancel it. Ordered S10+ in blue on Verizon. There's posts all over about this happening so many people. Bestbuy shouldn't promise what they can't deliver.

I've never had issues with getting it shipped from them.
