Android 4.4.4 Car Head Unit - Recording Composite Inputs - Android Head-Units

Hello,
I have been searching a while now on various forums. I have a generic Android stereo for my car. It has multiple RCA in connections. Right now I have my backup camera plugged into one, my front bumper cam plugged into another. Then the last is an AV in which I have nothing connected to at the moment. The unit comes with software that allows me to pull up and watch any of my video IN sources. I was wondering if someone might know of a possibility of an app or some other means to record one or more of the inputs. I would like to use my front bumper cam as sort of a dash cam. It has a perfect field of view and would suit perfectly as a dash cam. Having the ability to record any of the inputs would be an awesome feature. Right now it only seems to detect USB camera inputs for some dash recorder apps I have found on the market. Of course I would be looking for something that has the ability to record from composite/RCA/CVBS in the background. I am currently working trying to convert the composite signal to USB using a converter of sorts. I was just hoping someone here might be able to help with a possibility I have not thought of. Any help would be appreciated. I thank you for any response in advance.

On mine it has a car record app..I'll try finding the apk for you

Much appreciated. Mine too came with some apps. None of them worked correctly. Then after a factory reset, I can no longer even install them.

Duplicate Android Display To More Than One Screen?

I just installed an android display unit (Pumpkin KD-C0235) running 4.4 in my dads van. The unit has video output(VGA) but will only output a video stream when playing a DVD, through Pumpkins DVD app. It was verified with the mfg that, that was the only video out functionality.
Since my dad is paralyzed he sits in the middle of the van and I have installed a TV for him to see whats on the head unit. We got the head unit thinking that we would be able to have full control of it on a larger screen using a wireless keyboard and mouse.
Is there an app to duplicate the android screen during normal operation to the video outputs that are onto the back of the unit (RCA)? Or are there any other alternatives to get this constant duplicate video stream up to the tv without having to use WIFI. Since it works with their DVD app, this sounds like a software solution. An app that can be loaded and a video output can be chosen to duplicate the display. Does this exist? I am still looking, if it doesn't. What are the other solutions, other than learning how to write my own APK file.
All the help is appreciated! Thank you
Only via rdp or vnc over wifi.

You can combine a miracast dongle and use a RCA to HDMI converter like this.

I'm using this solution in my car but I do warn you the video quality is somewhere between tolerable and not good at all.
Any software solutions for this yet?
I too am a bit annoyed about the design flaw in which Videos outputs can only be used by DVD or Aux-In apps.
If anyone is able to provide a solution via apk, custom ROM, or firmware, I'd be happy to donate to them!

how to use the AUX port on the Android head unit?

Anybody knows how to use the AUX port to play music through the head unit?
Hi, I have the same doubt here. I bought a pure Android unit (still trying to find out which make and model is, as it's unbranded, with RK3188A chip, but not matching any MCU listed on the HuiFei wiki page), and I see that I can only use the dual zone for DVD while navigating (IGO) on the head unit. I mean, I have no PIP functionality (not a big issue), but the dual is not working as expected. I can only send video to rear monitors if it's played from the DVD. No USB, SD, BT, etc music or video files seem to be allowed to be sent through the AUX out port. And I'm only allowed to use navigation app while DVD is played on rear monitors... No radio, no USB, SD, etc video or audio files.
My previous unit is a WinCE supporting really well all this functions, but unfortunately due to a battery power loss, it only starts in recovery mode (expecting to load some firmware from SD card), and I cannot find any FW valid for it. And this pure Android is unable to do it, so I'm investigating to come up with a solution (it's the main reason I bought the pure Android unit).
Anyone knows any option? I think this could be done via software, but maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance, it's really appreciated.

you'll need a 3.5mm/2.5mm male to 2 RCA cable, connect this cable to your MP3 or someting and the AUX IN L and AUX IN R cables ,open the AV IN app on the head unit, then you can listen to the music through your head unit

So, you cannot play music from a friend's phone and use tomtom (or any app) in the meantime?
There is any possibility to have AUX-IN audio and any navigation app in the meantime?
Thank you,

You just bought the wrong device.
Nearly all units with DVD support only video/audio from this drive, nothing else.
All units without integrated DVD can play anything from anywhere, even from any USB-DVD.
From my understanding this cannot be changed...
May be possible by deactivating the DVD by pulling out the connection to the main board.... I donĀ“t know, needs to be tested.

Where do you read that out of his posting? You always can send the AUX player to the background and can use navigation.
By the way... for what reason did you activate the donate button? Did you create any helpful software to ask for donation?
MY unit has AUX in but no AUX in app. Does anyone have the APK or one they recommend? MCTB running android 10.
How do I delete this I accidentally posted in wrong thread.

Ah, someone said it was. What is it?
I don't know if this applies to all firmware, but on some firmware, you either see the AUX or the Front Camera app icon. In the settings, when the front camera is activated, the AUX program icon changes to a front camera. If you deactivate the front camera then the AUX icon appears and I believe the sound source input is also made active in addition to the camera. On mine, the option is under Factory Settings and is named "Front View" on can be toggled on or off.
I have a TEyes SPro 4/64 which is an s9853i FYT unit. You should check the connection diagram for your head unit to see which pins/connectors are for AUX video and audio.

Interesting so I can't use my dash cam and AUX?
Not sure. Try it and see what happens. Maybe your unit is different.
If both your dash cam and AUX use the same inputs, then I would guess that it's not possible.
Best to try and maybe follow-up with your vendor/seller/manufacturer.
I have a similar problem. I m trying to install an reverse camera. I have connected the orange "reversing" wire but when I am in reverse I get a "no signal error". What's the difference between video in and cam in connectors. Do you know what the pin out of this connector is because the rca female cables are not installed and I m trying all possible combinations in order to connect the video in and grnd cables from the male rca. Thanks

Headunit With 2 Camera Inputs

Hey!
I'm looking for an Android head unit that allows me to run 2 cameras (1 reverse that auto triggers when dropping into reverse, 1 forward facing camera that I can bring up via an app or shortcut or button press)
I drive a 3/4ton truck, and I enjoy taking it off road on fire roads, or over mild rocks, and the hood really limits my field of view. Hoping to solve this with a wide angle camera on the front bumper.
So far all I've been able to find are the My Atoto head units, but they're pretty outdated.
Quad core, 1GB RAM, and Android 4.4
They've got a new line coming up, Quad Core, 2GB RAM, and Android 6.0, but their site has said 4-6 weeks for about 8 or 10 weeks now, so I'm ready to consider other options..
Any suggestions?
Joying radios will do that, as will most others as well.
Use the backup camera input for the rear facing camera, and there is a second video input that is activated by one of the programs as an external media input.
The only downside is that since the second video input is intended as a multimedia input, it will deactivate your AMFM radio or whatever other sound source you are playing while it is running.
Further note: Don't use USB cameras for this. Won't work the way you want it to.

I've looked at the Joying radios and was concerned they wouldn't work, because they just list DVR and it sounds like it requires their specific hardware. When looking at their site all I see are USB cameras..
I've got a camera that uses standard RCA that I'm hoping to use. It's perfect size for me to mount up in my bumper..

I told you you CANNOT use USB cameras. Your "standard RCA" camera is what you need to use.

No Audio in from Aux socket Android 10.1

Sorry if this topic is covered elsewhere, after searching i couldn't find anything.
I've just bought a generic 8227L HU which claims to have Android 10.1 installed. Everything appears to work fine except the audio side of the AV in App.
Iv'e fitted this HU to my Range Rover along with DVB Television and whilst i get a great picture, there is no sound.
Iv'e verified there is sound actually getting into the HU by removing the cover and checking there is audio using an Oscilloscope on the circuit board.
I did read elsewhere someone else had a similar issue and was told after Android 9.0 Aux Audio in was no longer supported.
Iv'e yet to decide if this is a hardware fault, App problem or the version of Android. Does anyone know of an app for AV in i could try?
TIA
You ever figure this out?
Does your RR have optical audio?

Joying Headunit Video In Problem

Hi All,
Have actually really enjoyed the headunit so far, but am using a wireless reverse camera setup. It was recommended to use the video in and just select this when I want to view the camera (because there is no wiring to tell the headunit when the car is in reverse), but not having much luck.
The wireless transmitter/receivers power on and then connect with a blue light, but I'm not sure what to do next, as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to view video in. I found and activated the "Front camera" app assuming that this might show the feed, but when I open it I just get the message that "Driving status. video closed while driving". I'm not sure if this is even the right app to view the feed though, so any help would be much appreciated!
why dont you just use the reverse lights to trigger backup cam
Thanks very much for your reply. The wireless setup I have doesn't have a "back" cable? Which I believe is the trigger to tell the headunit to show the feed for the reverse camera? My setup is currently powered by the reverse lights, but there is nothing to tell the headunit that the car is in reverse (which is why I was recommended to just use the video in and manually turn it on when I'm in reverse)? Having said that, it's my first time doing anything like this, so I really don't know what I'm talking about...
