[Q] Flash to BTU - help needed

Hi All
Just had an upgrade to the Note 3. It was originally locked to 3 mobile but I have unlocked to use on O2. I'd like to get rid of the 3 mobile splash screen etc.
I've read through a few of the posts on here and I'm unsure as to how to go about doing the flash. I'm confused over the Knox thing. I am only wanting to flash the firmware not root.
Please can someone point me in the right direction......?

[Q] Rooting Note3

Hi guys
I'm very new to this and love the Note3. Can anyone help me and direct me to the post on how to root my Note3 please.
I got
AP:N9005XXUDMJ6
CP:N9005XXUDMJ4
CSC:N9005VFGDMJ1
it is running on 4.3 (UK, Vodafone network) If possible would like to upgrade to kitkat as well. Thank you very very much in advance for any help i can get. As I said I'm a newbie and only now start to learn.
Correct me someone if I'm wrong...
Download mobile terminal and try to exec the command
[email protected]:/ $ getprop ro.bootloader
N9005XXUBMJ1
[email protected]:/ $
If you are on MJ1 or previous bootloader you can go and use Root de la Vega method using any ROM admitted.
Thread is on developing section

Since you are not rooted, it means Kn0x is probably intact.
Upgrading
1. Go into Settings > About Device > System Updates. Check for updates. Then update if it's available
OR
2. Download kies from here - http://www.filehippo.com/download_kies/ then install, connect your phone to ur computer and check for updates
OR
3. Grab any N9005 firmware from here - http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N9005 then flash in ODIN. I have a guide here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8j0x3l9vrla9du/Flashing Official Sammy ROMs.txt)
Ask questions if you don't understand anything
Rooting
Use Snapdragon option from my post here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49604059&postcount=3

Thanks for your kind reply. Just a quick as I'm not sure...
Can i download any firmware from the link you give( http://www.filehippo.com/download_kies/), although i got Vodafone UK handset? will there be a problem with language once install? Is the snapdragon customise ROM? I'm not worry about triping Kn0x. because my phone model is AP:N9005XXUDMJ6 will it be ok if I download the firmware from different country?
Sorry to be a pain. just want to make sure.

If it's MJ6 then you will trip Knox...
You also have the bootloader that makes it impossible to go back to firmwares lower than MJ3(?). If you upgrade to KK then root with the latest cf-autoroot then you will be good to go. You can then flash latest twrp/cwm to put on custom roms.... Just make sure the cwm/twrp says it's compatible with KK... Same with cf-Autoroot....
This will trip Knox though...

Yup, however reading around and learning things instead of expecting to have stuff spoonfed makes a huge difference, especially given this is a pretty much a phone development site lol. 2 out of 5 threads cover root in some variation.
Just follow the directions and it's pretty simple. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes for a whole process.

Do you need to unlock bootloader or just root?

Hi guys. Bought a note 4 today, and it was rooted by a friend of mine using chainfire's method.
My question is, can you flash twrp or a rom without unlocking the bootloader, or is the bootloader not an issue and u don't have to mess with it?

hi ,
i have a N910F Note 4 ( Snapdragon ) i have used CF auto root by Chainfire , and flashed CWM recovery (as TWRP is not "configured" for N910F , only for Tmobile ,Sprint and i see now for Canadian models ) No need to touch Bootloader .I believe some Note 4 models( ? not sure which ) may have locked Bootloaders .
So make sure before you do anything, what your model no is etc .etc
Good luck

By default it will not delete data using Mobile ODIN, But it's good to do hard reset if you upgrade to Lillipop.
For rooting Lillipop by keeping Knox 0x0 you can use MOP.
this method. Lollipop
If you are on N9005 download this ROM, for N900 download this ROM.

Remove your battery for 2 minutes, then turn it on into Recovery mode, clear cache and reboot again.
If still issue is present then again go into recovery and wipe data.
It's fixed now, Thanks!

Can you answer these questions:
Is your boot loader unlocked now?
Do you want a stock version of 5 or an after market version. If you have an unlocked boot loader do you want CyanogenMod 12 or a variation of it?
Why did you root your phone?

i flushed G900VVRU2BPB1 because i got the impression that it will be possible to root it with cf-auto-root
so now bootloader is locked again.

You can root any ROM with TWRP & Magisk. You just need an unlocked boot loader to get started with.
If you don't want to or can't unlock your boot loader go here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...oot-method-t3561529/post71147687#post71147687
and click the box below the "If your eMMC CID starts with "11," start here:" statement.
