Has Sony forgotten the Z3+? - Xperia Z4/Z3+ General

So older phones have been updated to 5.1.1 already. According to this (pinch if salt at the ready)
http://www.androidean.com/2015/09/android-60-marshmallow-becomes.html?m=1
6.0 is coming soon and the Z3+ isn't listed again.
What's the word in the street?

This list ist very very trustworthy.. What about some common sense? Did Sony announced a date for M for any Xperia device?

Yeh thats why I said pinch of salt at the ready. Just seeing what people thought about the Z3+'s future updates.

Nopes. Z5 Premium ONLY RENDERS 4K WHEN NECCESSARY. So if there is no 4K Movie or Game, Z5 Premium will work as FULLHD. Think about it. If it always shows up 4K, how long would the battery last. I assume only 5 hours
Also check these guys, it says z3+ (z4) will get the updates.

The normal Z5 has a 1080p screen. The bulk of the word for firmware relies on the SoC.

Having different screen resolutions is VERY VERY tiny work for creating new firmwares, with them both having essentially the same hardware, whatever they make for the Z5 they should be able to do for the Z3+ with very minor adjustments.

This list is or fake or incomplete because I am confidence that Z3+, Z3+ dual, Z4 and whole Z5 series will get Android 6.

Android 6.0 will be able to install very soon

It does appear that Z3+ has been forgotten for the moment. Last update to the AOSP downloads was 2015-08-19. Still no functioning baseband, which renders it useless....Also, no open (recovery) bootloader and no 5.1.1.

Indeed YES

Yes.

I do feel the same, although Sony has confirmed that the Z3+ will be getting Android 6.0. In fact, it would be very idiotic of Sony not to update it with Marshmellow. But at the moment it is very weird that it isn't at least at 5.1.1.

I think they reason that it would be pointless to work on a 5.1.1 update and 6.0 at the same time and then there would only have been like a month or so inbetween them. In all honesty I feel it's probably better they focus on 6.0 and making that version that most people will use for the longest very good.

You're right, Masssy. I guess that makes more sense.

Are you going to sell your Z1 and get a Z2?

Now that the Z2 has been fully revealed, I was wondering how many Z1 owners were thinking of switching to the Z2 once it comes out. Both are so similar specs wise that for some it wouldn't make sense to make the leap.
For me, I'm probably going to stay with the Z1. The display is the only thing drawing me to the Z2 but I can't justify paying so much money just for better viewing angles. The rest of the software features like 4K recroding and tap2wake are going to be ported to the Z1 officially or through the devs so the gap between the Z1 and Z2 will be very small.
Thoughts?
note: This is only for people thinking about getting the Z2, and not another phone
The Z2 is a good choice for those who are coming from other brands.
I think it's not worth to sell our Z1 and get the Z2 (well if you want to always have the latest phone, go) as spec wise there is little improvement on the hardware. Lets wait for Z3 and see what it will offer.
Currently happy with my Z1, just the camera brings disappointment. Peace

Hell no. I don't see any major upgrades that could justified the change.
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
Well I was thinking about this too and here is my opinion: SONY has huge problems with phone overheating starting from S, Z, Z1 .. Almost all the phones have small defects for example camera button is very loose and it's a bit hard to take a picture without handshake on keypress, then my volume button became very strange it's like going to fall of, when I slightly press on it it feels like it was outside and then returned to its position, I mean that SONY has to think about build quality rather than releasing new flagship twice a month But from the other side there are no normal phones, I was thinking of Nexus 5 and G2 but I didn't like G2 UI and Nexus 5 Camera because it takes strictly 4:3 ... And as usual I'll say that I wont buy SONY again but probably will buy SONY
Sony makes new flagships all the time... perhaps i will wait a couple of flagships before i buy another one
No way! I have to keep my money for nearly a year to get Z1. LOL. I'm very happy with Z1 tho, it's a decent device. There are a lot of proud and pride for having this device. Z2 don't have too big differences compares to Z1 tho, I think stick with Z1 and wait for new generation of Z family (perhaps Z3 or Z4) will be the best choice

i will probably wait for Z3, and if that thing doesnt have decent developer support after a month or two i am going with whatever nexus phone is out by then.
I'm thinking about it since the Z1s may or may not get root. There's a few people working on it. But, for me, I'm thinking of the possibility of us not getting root. I'd sell my Z1s to help by the global Z2. With the Z1s coming out about a month ago. Is it reasonable to ask for $500 or could I go higher?
Anybody know for sure whether or not the global phones will work on T-Mo USA's data bands?

Not Upgrading to a Z2, because,
1. I don't care about 4K, althoughit may be ported in the future. I hardly record video's in 1080P ...
2. Marginal Performance difference with a slightly faster Adreno 330 isnt. There is nothing available on the Playstore that needs more performance than a 2.15 Krait 400 with a 450 mhz Adreno 330 can deliver anyway.
3. Camera stuff will probably be ported in the future, even if it isn't I'm not fussed about it. It's just icing on the cake.
lol,
4. Don't care about Viewing angles because I look at my phon straight one, not at an awkward angle,
lol,
5. the pixel density is actually higher on the Z1, it's sharper,
6. another 200mah on the battery is a joke over he Z1's 3000mah ...

Agree with most of your points, but the display of the Z2 is a lot better than the Z1's. The loss of sharpness is negligible, but the new IPS screen tech is less washed out than the Z1's TFT screen.
They didn't even did something about those borders around the screen, OIS for camera or something that worth thinking about an upgrade. Small improvements compared to my beloved Z1. It's not worth buying a new flagship at least until a year or two.
Mine is two weeks old. So I wont buy a new one. I'm not a millionaire and I'm absolutly satisfied with this one!!!!

I find it a waste to upgrade to the Z2 if you already own a Z1.
I think that the Z2 will be the perfect phone to upgrade to if you are coming from another OEM, or you are coming from an Xperia device from 2011/2012.
Our Z1 is more than up to the task and in time it will have a community comparable to the flagships that came before it, like the original Xperia flagship, the X10 :highfive:

Will you upgrade from Z2 to Z3

So far though not official yet, according to GSMarena, the specs doesn't look too good at least for me to upgrade to the Z3. Base hardwarewise is basically the same... kind of dissapointed me
Unless they put some significant changes as Z1->Z2, i think this time i won't upgrade but maybe wait for the Z4

I probably will trade in my Z2 for a Z3 compact. That was the idea from the beginning. Needed a new phone but couldn't wait. So I bought the Z2 hoping by the time the Z3 got released someone would want to trade. And if not. Maybe I'll keep the Z2 or maybe I'll sell it and get the Z3c myself.
But a normal Z2 to Z3, nah for what!? My only problem with phones nowadays is the size. Way too large for normal use IMHO.

Next version of Android.
After the Z2/M8 I would get something with UHD not QHD and with 5.5-5.7inch screen without much bezel. The 805 is only good in the GPU department and even then 1440p/420 is equal to 1080p/330. So my next phone might be iPhone 7 or Z5-Z7
Nope, Z2 is a very good phone for me. Z3 has not much extra's

My thoughts are exactly the same, if I gonna switch it, it's gonna be for z3 compact only,
but not sure yet, have to see what does z3c offers over z2 except size-wise
With Sony's 6 month release cycle it's pretty hard to keep up especially if they are just making nominal and incremental changes. If they go with the 2k screen they better up the batter from the z2.
I'm going to be staying with the z2. Just found it after almost the entire year trying out other phones and I'm loving it.

The only new thing is the ''design'' xD. So Nooo thank you.Sticking to my Z2 <3 This 6 month cycle is a complete crap if you ask me :/
No Z3 for me if there is nothing new. For now Z2 has better design.
Not at all, mainly because right now I'm more keen to switch back to a Nexus device, and also the improvements from Z2 to Z3 shouldnt be too great a reason to make the upgrade.
IMHO, Z3 is mainly meant for "new" buyers that are coming from older Sony (Sony Ericsson) devices or other brands and they are intend to buy a flag ship this autumn/winter.
Of course, also those ones who must have the latest and newest are welcome
I'm staying with z2 for awhile
There hasn't been as much in the way of leaks as previous devices. I can only hope there's some amazing improvement we've not been told about.
Because for now it seems that it might be a bit more rounded at the edges, maybe have a smaller bezel and that's about it.
Wireless charging would be nice as a new addition, but otherwise what could a Z2 possibly get that would make a swap worthwhile?
I realise I said that with the Z2 over the Z1 but it turned out the screen was a lot better, physically bigger and the front facing speakers a massive leap. So all the must have changes have already happened.

Actually if one year from now and still not much has changed I'd even stay put then. There aren't many phones that appeal to me like the Z2. It's downright sexy, screen is now tolerable with the viewing angles and it is just the right size for me. All I would personally change is either 32/64 internal as my games are a few gigs and an amoled screen. I just got too used to the oversaturation of them.

Would be kinda cool od Sony would release a DualSIM version od the XZ series for the European market. XZ is a very good phone, but i'm tired of using two phones (I have a work and private phone). So if they would release a DualSIM flag phone I would buy it.
This is really stupid. 3 flagships later the things are almost the same.

Rumors are its QHD, I hope not because they did the same with the G3 and it took a big hit in battery life compared to the G2, for not much gain in visual quality, not to mention increased heat due the display causing overheating.

And QHD is basically useless as far as I can tell on a smartphone screen (even at 6"). Our eyes can only distinguish so much.

Screen brightness what i saw on z2 wasn't anything special, it's much brighter on z3

Sleeker body, aluminium frame
Better snapdragon 801 chip
And much more
The only downgrade i found out was i cannot write with a pencil on the z3

Upgraded from Z1 to Z3 seems a better deal than Z2 to Z3. The specs of 2 and 3 are so similar!!!
I am still using my Z1 btw because I rooted my Z1 to allow me to move stuff to SD cards, now waitjng for easy 1click ways to root Z3
I also upgraded from z2 to z3. I wouldnt really upgrade tbh if my contract would not end few weeks ago, and I can really tell that it is a little upgrade only on paper. Phone looks and feels much better, its thinnier and lighter, and rounded sides make holding it more comfortable. I could not live without root so I unlocked a bootloader and rooted it, and camera is still good enough for me. The only thing that pisses me of is that ps4 remote play doesnt work with unlocked bootloader

There is no way I'll buy another Xperia in the future (Z5 Compact is being enough for me). But I said the same thing years ago with Samsung (after having a Galaxy S3) and I'm sticking to that.
I still prefer Xperia over Touchwiz. (Despite of Xperia cameras, which are terrible...only good for landscapes and wide daily photos).
For me, the best experience in Android is the nexus family.
I'll probably switch from a Z5C to a 5X one of these days....and keep it for a few months till the new nexus is released.
(I used a 5X last month and I regret the decision of leaving the Nexus family to try the Xperia family).
I'll have to sacrifice the size and the HD display of course.

Nexus 5 battery life wasn't enough for me. Z5 Compact battery life is more than enough. So 5X should be just enough, and I'll be fine. (Except for the gaming, where the Z5C rules because of the 720p resolution. Luckily Hearthstone is more CPU killer than GPU killer in my experience.).
But yes "battery life efficiency" is the best strength you can find in an Xperia.
I hope this new update (32.2.A.0.224) we're waiting for Z5C solves, at least, these 2 things:
- adaptive brightness gamma colors that get washed under a lot of light.
- the performance issues that appear after 5-10 days without rebooting the phone.

You're lucky that you only reboot every 5-10 days. I reboot once or twice a day! If I open Snapchat (yes, the app itself does suck, which makes it even worse), I definitely have to reboot sooner than later. My bluetooth doesn't get picked up half of the time and if I use the phone while listening to music, the sound stutters. It's just not a good experience. The Z3C was light years ahead of the Z5C, which is unfortunate.
On the note of the S6: I've heard quite a bit of praise after M update. One of my closest friends own both the S6 and S7 (both on M) and mentions that they're pretty comparable. Really though, anything but the Z5C is better IMO. Especially since I can most likely get the S6 for the Z5C without losing money. After the S4, I told myself I wouldn't be getting another Galaxy phone but it looks like Samsung really turned it around with the S6 so I'll give them another chance.
