Tablet z gaming [For Root Users] - Xperia Tablet Z General

I guess many of us will use our gorgeous Xperia Tablet Z for mobile gaming. And it runs almost all the games quite well on this powerful tablet.
I'm a game enthusiast myself and I love playing games on Xperia Tablet Z. I own a Pollux and it handles most of the high end games like Modern Combat 4, Nova, Overkill, Asphalt 8 etc..
But some of the new games seem a little laggy due to much higher demand of CPU and GPU. For example we got a new game like Modern Combat 5, it's one of the best FSP/ACTION game in mobile devices and has console quality graphics. And Xperia Tablet Z plays that game well but you might see some lags while playing the game and the game plays around 23-28 Fps, which is just okay.
I've tried a lot of apps, kernels, ROMs and tips and tricks to run the games much better on our beloved Xperia Tablet Z.
Here's some recommendations that I would suggest from my more than two years of usage of Xperia Tablet Z and 11 years of experience in gaming.
[Here I mainly take Modern Combat 5 as the game for review]
Apps for graphical optimization:
GLTools (Paid):
GLTools helps you to add an extra graphic customization in games and add an extra layes of Shaders. With some changes in GLTools settings the games works fairly well but still at times when I play Modern Combat 5 the frame rates drop to somewhere between 18-25 FPS and the game gets a bit laggy.
Resolution Changer:
I've tried some resolution changer apps but most of them doesn't seem to work properly on modded ROMs but works good in stock ROM. But I do have one app that works good.
NoMone Resolution Changer is a good app to change the resolution of the screen. It's not necessary to play the game in full HD so you can just change your screen's resolution to HD (1024*720 in 200 dpi is my fav setting). When you change the resolution sometimes your navigation bar goes out of the screen. But this app provides some handy features like toggling the Navigation buttons to help you sort things out for navigation. It's a free app and makes the game work pretty well on the tablet without much reduction in graphics.
With this resolution changer I've seen much improvement in performance of the game and there's much lag reduction.
You can find this app here,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer
Controller App:
Just for a suggestion I would recommend an app called Sixaxis Controller for controller support and mapping. Although our Xperia Tablet Z supports PS3 controller on its own, but there are some games whose controller mapping is not so good; game such as Modern Combat 4. So, here you'll need the help of Sixaxis Controller App that makes this game work pretty well with your controller. In my case I use PS3 controller for my gaming and sixaxis controller app for customizing my controllers. I love this app
Kernel
After going through a lot of research over the Web and to get a huge improvement in overall gaming performance in our lovely tablet I would suggest a custom kernel that I love and suggest to others.
EvoMix Kernel for Cm 12.1
EvoMix kernel is an awesome addition to our tablet for greater performance. Not only for playing games but also for regular usage and snappy response. I thank the developers who worked hard to bring us this awesome kernel :good:
The EvoMix kernel ramps up the CPU and GPU for extreme performance. The CPU can be overclocked to 1.7GHz and the GPU can be overclocked to 487MHz which significantly improves the overall performance of the tablet. The kernel also features I/O scheduler tweaks and lot of other improvements that makes your tablet altogether a much powerful and faster.
The EvoMix kernel can be found on this thread originally posted by @BlackAfghan.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...b-tablet-z-evomix-kernel-cyanogenmod-t3120762
ROMs
The Sony's ROM is always has too much bloatwares in it. It's the only thing that makes me not use the Stock ROM. I've played games in different ROMs and mostly all of them work good. But as I suggested earlier about the EvoMix Kernel, it's only available for CyanogenMod and CyanogenMod based ROMs like PAC ROM, crDroid etc (You can find these ROMs across the xda forum under Tablet Z Development threads). With these ROMs and with the help of EvoMix kernel you can play most of the games fairly enough without any lags. I've played Modern Combat 4 and Modern Combat 5 in CM based ROMs and they work quite well.
If you wanna stick with the rooted Stock ROM get rid of the bloatwares and disable useless apps to gain Memory and Speed. Although it won't show any significant improvements but it can give your Game a breathing space on that over-crowded bloatwares on the memory queue and CPU usage.
Mostly I play Modern Combat 4 and 5 on my Pollux (Xperia Tablet Z LTE) and here are my settings and apps that I use to get maximum performance
NoMone Resolution Changer (1024*720 at 200 dpi) for Modern Combat 5
Sixaxis Controller for Controller mapping in Modern Combat 4
CrDroid (as of now) with EvoMix kernel for boost in performance. I've played both the games on Rooted Stock 5.1.1 with all the bloatwares removed and the games works well.
I don't use GLTools anymore because I haven't seen much improvement in Modern Combat 5. But you can see some improvements in Modern Combat 4 using GLTools app with correct settings.
*****************************************
So that's it guys, all of this information is just to let you know about my experience in gaming and usage of this awesome Tablet You can try these suggestions at your own risk and make sure you do a deeper research on rooting and recovering your tablet from bootloops and bricking.
*****************************************

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I've tried some new settings with GlTools apps and the game (Modern Combat 5) seems to work quite well.
Just change the render resolution to 0.5x and downscale texture to 0.5x too. It'll help the game to run much better on the tablet Z
First of all in Modern Combat 5, Go to Settings, then Audio (The one with Speaker icon) and change the VFX setting to "Better Performance"
I donno why the GFX setting is under the "Audio" tab :/

Thanks for tips, unfortunately changing resolution with NoMone doesnt work at all on pure CM12.1 and changing it with GLTools will change it to half, but it also renders on half of screen with black parts around. Controls though are on same positions as before, so its almost impossible to control games with onscreen buttons.

The NoMone Resolution Changer works well with stock ROM but not CM 12.1.
Here's how the game (Modern Combat) looks like with Resolution Changer on Stock Lollipop 5.1.1
The Game works smooth and all controls work well.

Another tip for gaming: Disable MP decision
Disabling MP decision makes all the four cores of the CPU run instead of putting the unused core offline. This reduces the lag because all the cores are available for processing. This can reduce the battery life but give a performance boost.
The best governor settings for playing games:
CPU: Interactive
GPU: Performance
Happy Gaming
If I find much better settings/apps for playing games I'll let you guys know it here

HTC Legend .. Intensive 3D Gaming ?

Hey
i'm really consedoring buying the legend , just wondering since the CPU is 600MHz , will it be good with intensive 3D gaming like Asphalt 5 , Raging Thunder and Deliverace ?
or should i get the Samsung Wave instead ? cause i won't buy a phone that don't game well
Unlike the HTC hero, the legend has a dedicated GPU so will be better for games.

then why do they say that the legend is only a slight upgrade from the hero in terms of tech?
it runs 3d games smooth, that is the 3d games out now and support tilt control, and that are not a lot of games.
Asphalt, smooth but no tilt control
Raging thunder, smooth for 98%
Google Earth (almost a game) no support doesn´t boot up
simply said, if you want to go for a mobile that supports hardcore 3d games and thatw really important to you in the long term, then get the desire or nexus or iphone. Sure the Legend support and runs the current gen of games perfect. There will come a time in next couple of month when increasing spec demand on a mobile will get the Legend a step back.
But who knows, the Hero getting an upgrade to 2.1 and it performs 100% better then on 1.6 android.

The MSM7200 SoC in the Hero does have a GPU based on ATI Imageon technology. It's not a particularly capable unit, but it is there.

Apparently it supports OpenGL 2.0 whereas the Hero's dedicated GPU only suppors OpenGL 1.0. So it should perform better, but so far there are hardly any Android apps that make use of a dedicated GPU so it's hard to actually say how big the difference is.

I tried these out on my Legend.
Asphalt does work and so does tilt control. You have to enable accelerometer in the game options. The game seemed incredibly fast though. But maybe that's how it's supposed to play.
Raging Thunder. No problems there. Pretty fun too.
And as you said, google earth doesn't even start up

3D Gaming Tests
I have tested some 3d games from the market place. Some of them only in a lite version, but the graphics should be the same... ^^
There is a rating system om smoothness from 1-5
Speedx 3D
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-beepstreet-speedx-wFnn.aspx
Its product specification tells the truth. It delivers stunning 3D accelerometer controlled tunnel experience without any lags.
5
Armageddon Squadron
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-polarbit-asquadron-pmqD.aspx
By stopping all tasks with my advanced task manager it runs quiet well. But not as smooth as Speedx 3D. Looks like 20 FPS. Anyway its playable and its still fun...
4
Raging Thunder 2 Lite
http://www.androlib.com/android.screenshot.app.nwtE-tEiE.u.aspx
Wow! Amazing 3d graphics! But you reckognize that HTC maybe doesn´t use the full CPU capacity of the legend as it could use. Starting a Race it lags and after some seconds it becomes much smoother, but still a bit laggy. 15-20 FPS therefore you can play it,
3.5
Speed Forge 3D Demo
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.mag3dlite-speedforgedemo-qCmp.aspx
Perfect! Super smooth!
5
Magnetic Sports Soccer
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-revo-proto-tiqp.aspx
Runs very smooth with an occasional appearance of lags... Very seldom
4.5
ToonWarz - LITE
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-polarbit-toonwarzlite-pqtB.aspx
Oh my godness! At first I thougt hey it runs not bad. But then the first enemies appeared and the FPS crashed totally! Unplayable³!
1
Kwaak3 - Quake 3 Arena for Android
http://code.google.com/p/kwaak3/
Very nice! After change the lightning from "Lightning maps" to "vertex" and the texture quality to 50% it runs very smooth with only one enemy and quiet okay with 3 enemies...
4.5
For shortness of this post i will only name the game and put a number behind it.
Homerun battle 3D demo- 5
Wave Blazer - 4
Quake 2&1 - 2
Mystique Chapter 1 - 5
My Paper - 5
Lybyrinth - 5
Dice 3D - 5
Friday Escape Lite - 3.5
Armadillo Roll Demo - 5
Vacuum - 5
Raging Thunder 1 - 5
NO ASPHALT 5!!!!!!!!
Upcoming tests after putting money aside
Exzeus Arcade - unfortunately no lite version out there
Deliverace - Omg! trailers look amazing! Hopefully it will be quiet smooth (not available at the moment)
Light Racer 3d - But maybe you can test these games??
Super G Stunt
SpaceTracks
Welcome to Hell 3D (not available at the moment)
Crusade of Destiny (not available at the moment)
AVERAGE RATING: 4,27777
After the devs have some clues to upgrade legends performance it could be nearly 5.
i know this thread is pretty old but i would like to add Dungeon Hunter.
the only game from gameloft that seems to work nearly perfect on the legend (no display resolution problems).
so, without overclocking version 3.11 runs pretty well. some buttons are deformed thats all.
the game doesn´t run perfect, but its playable.
version 3.5.7 (HD) works, too. but the graphics are deformed and youll get errors instead of videos.
Version 3.1.1 = 4.7/5
Version 3.5.7 = 4.2/5
so from all 3d gameloft games just dungen hunter will work well ?
i havent tested all games sofar, i m not that interessted in racing games or football managers and stuff.
but from the games ive tested (assassins creed, sandstorm, nova, hero of sparta and some other i forgot) only dungeon hunter works with the right resolution, nova was basicly playable, too (for example). but playing wouldnt be fun.
Just an aside 'cos I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread, the MSM7227 has the same Adreno 200 GPU that is used in the 1GHz Snapdragon phones like the Desire. Not sure about the clock speed, but I'd imagine it bears at least some relation to the main CPU clock.
Remember though that the Legend has a lot less screen to fill up so the lower fillrate is not so much of an issue, if at all. In fact, when you look at the Neocore benchmarks, the Legend holds up pretty well.
This link* shows Neocore benchmark scores for various devices and although the Legend is not tested, the MyTouch Slide has the same MSM7227 so results are comparable.
A lot of the 3D games for Android look like fairly lazy ports of older iPhone apps (Gameloft, I'm looking at you!) and may not be particularly suited to one Android GPU or another. That's Android fragmentation and an immature market though, eh?
Having said that, if 3D performance is important then something like Galaxy S would surely be the choice handset. The 1+GHz high-resolution devices will be the target devices for any serious game development so you may find that 320x480 and lower handsets are ignored to a great extent. Whether a burgeoning budget market keeps these lower-end device on developers' minds remains to be seen.
Edit to add: The only 3D game I have and play regularly is Carrom 3D (great pool/snooker game) and this is smooth enough even with all the detail turned up. A lot of other apps 'running' in the background will cause occasional lag, but then this is the price we pay for a multi-tasking environment!
* Search for "high end android gpu showdown" to get link at Android&Me (can't link as I'm a new account)
The only game (that I tried) that lags on my legend is caligo chaser
FIFA10 lags too.
the legend isnt a real lower-end device (the wildfire is xD).
if google would optimize android and htc would optimize sense the cpu and gpu would have much more power to for example to play games more fluedly.
if coders would even try to optimize theyr games for legend (and it would be very easy for gameloft for example, htc legend is comparable to the iphone 3gs and most of there games are coded for exactly that device), they would work just perfect.
the lower cpu rate and the lack of ram isnt the real problem: compare the hardware of the phones to a pc 10 years ago, the snapdragon should reach better performance than an pentium 3/1ghz cause of the architectur, the gpu is far away from the power of a geforce 2mx, but still pretty good.
based on the better architecture (n45; arm) the 600mhz msm7227 should be comparable to a 800mhz pentium 3.
this hardware has to work with a smaller screen with a fixed resolution. they could reach so much better performance, graphics etc. they are just too lazy.
(ps: i know that smartphone hardware isnt really comparable to hardware that was in pcs back then, but mhz is mhz)

Yeah, but MHz to MHz rarely mean much, even in the same architecture. For example: The new Qualcomm CPU's, found in the Desire-Z (T-Mobile G2, 800MHz) outperform the 1GHz (1000MHz) CPU found in the Dersire by a long way (these are both ARM). If you look at AMD CPUs vs Intel CPUs then AMD almost always outperform Intel, even on a lower clock-speed. (Both the x86-64 architecture). MHz to MHz only has a real, measurable, bearing when applied to 2 of the same CPUs at to different clock speeds (overclocking)
Having said all that, I do agree with your post. The Legend is capable of so much more, if only people would take the time to code properly. Part of the problem is that people rely on the Dalvik VM (fairly phone-independent), so they rarely have to code on a "per-phone-model" basis. With the iPhone, as it's only ever 1 set of hardware, programmers can easily optimise it for the iPhone. It's much harder to optimise for Android, as it exists on so many phones, each with different specs. But that's the price you pay for choice...
Suprisingly the Legends GPU outperforms the Desire in 3D benchmarks. The CPU is certainly weaker in the Legend, but the comparison below is not quite far because the Legend is still on 2.1 and the desire benchmark was 2.2
Hopefully soon they can be compared like for like...

Games running slow

hi there, i have a rooted Samsung Galaxy 3 as most of you too.
here's the thing, i've rooted my phone, installed 3d chainfire and updated all of my drivers (of chainfire that is) installed setcpu and set it on perfromance base on 1300MHz. after that i thought to myself well a everything is done i can start downloading games now, i first downloaded PES 2011 and felt really excited when it booted and expected some good gaming and fun when traveling but when i started the game it was just horrid...the game is running approximately at 20% of it's usual game speed which kills it off entirely it feels like i'm playing the game with VSync enabled all the time.
So i was hoping if i could get some feedback from you guys to inform me what i did/am doing wrong or to give your impressions on the way things are shaping up for you.
thx in advance.
Hi
Did you tried different configurations specific to the game?
Did you installed plugins?
well, different games needs different configurations and each of them works good with a specific plugin.
Here is some examples:
For Nfs Shift you only need to select "Reduce texture quality and Qualcomm plugin.
For Modern Combat: Sandstorm you have to select both "Reduce texture quality" and "Reduce texture size" and choose Qualcomm plugin.
So the best way to play a lag free game is to try different settings.
Good Luck
trust me i've installed the plugins and have all 3 updated to the newest version i have tested all possible configurations and plugins even reducing texture and size settings still i can't get the game to run at more then 20-30% of it's potential...it's kinda sad as i saw that many of you are playing games smoothly on the SG3
Try using on of g3mod OC bus kernels.

em, could you please provide a link (with possible explanations) as i'm kinda new to this stuff, i got my SG3 a few months back and never had an android before.
this topic Must be very useful to you:
[How to]Play "HD" games on SG3 (NOVA, Shift, Asphalt5, AC, PES11 and more!)
PES 2011 working slow on every G3. You can't do anything with that but games like Nova, Nfs Shift and many others working great. You can try Psx emulator also, Fpse is the best I think and then you can play with psx games like Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, Civilization or Mortal Kombat.

So, overclocked processor even to 1300 Mhz doesn't provide performance in 3D games. (Neocore benchmark @ 667 Mhz - 13 FPS, Neocore benchmark @ 1200 Mhz - 14 FPS). Practically zero growth in performance of 3D.
Fpse emulator? The same situation. gran Turismo (time trial, only Your car on the track - 30-42 FPS - playable) Gran turismo (race, 6 cars - slow, not playable)
I5800 is not for games and emulation.
well, G3 is not good for 3D games, that's just how it is. There are awesome 2d games for android though. Refraction, rope cut, mx mayhem-a bit slow but fun and playable, angry birds all run fine. believe me if you had high end 3d games on g3 they would become boring in a week. better to just stick to your pc or console for real games

Nexus 10 gaming problems?

hey guys, im looking to buy the nexus 10, but it seems that the res, of the screen, makes some games lag, or is it down to the games not yet optimised?, not only that but, is is possible to force games to run at a lower res, ?
is it worth getting for gaming,?
thanks. amatris
I've had no problems with Nova 3, Shadow Gun, Shadow gun dead zone, Vice city, Deard Trigger, GTA 3, fruit ninja, Angry Birds and SuperGNES.
Which games have you been told lag?
I have to say, I've noticed lag on even simple games like Subway Surfer. In fact sometimes you lose because of the lag!
However I have also played Nova 3 and a couple of other high quality games and had no issues. Thinking it may be more settings based than tablet based!
NFS: MW is one of the games that drop frames pretty hard and is all because of the thermal throttle that the exynos 5 have.
Thanks for the reply guys, bit this id making me think tjat its not a good gaming tablet :-\ , is it still worth it?

A lot of the problems can actually be solved by slightly under volting the CPU. This reduces the thermal throttling.

Undervolting is all done through a custom kernel. Check out some of the threads in the dev sections and see if you're up for it. Or just install the Franco custom kernel and you won't have to adjust anything and gaming should be just great! :good:
Do not get this tablet if you want a tablet for gaming plain and simple. The tablet has a relatively weak GPU and massive screen resolution to power. Games like Dead Trigger will run fine on Low settings, but crank the settings to high and the game turns into a stuttering mess. Need for Speed Most Wanted has less graphical effects and details than the iPad version and yet also runs laggy and drops frames. Even something like Subway Surfers and Temple Run are laggy and have a delay when you swipe your finger.
Undervolting it does not help. Undervolting it merely makes it not throttle when it gets too hot. However, the throttling is not the only issue this tablet has with gaming. The GPU is not good enough for this display. You can notice it well enough when scrolling and watching text deform. This text deforming problem happened in the iPad 3 to a lesser degree and is completely absent in the iPad 2 and 4. (3 being that awkward middle retina child without a good enough GPU).
This tablet is great for media consumption but not for playing games.

Its just hard to recommend anything other than the ipad if you want it primarily for gaming. The ipad has a significantly larger library with games that look and play better than anything we have. Look at the note 10.1.

the Quad-core Mali T604 is fast as hell trust me
the problem is that it doesnt get enough CPU power to show off.
the stock settings for the CPU usage is set way to low!
one more thing that makes the games to lag is the up/down speed changes.
everytime the CPU changes its frequency you get lag.
if you have been into PC games you know that a fast GPU is depending alot on the CPU speed as well.
with the stock 1000mhz speeds that the CPU is using for games it wont max out the GPU.
the GPU screams for more CPU power.
the ONLY way to get games running smooth on the N10 is to LOCK the CPU speed at 1500 or 1700mhz.
but its one more problem and i think you know what it is
so to TS
dont judge the N10 for one bad optimized game(NFSMW) with stock ROM.
the games i have tried runs all at 60fps with max graphic settings.
but ok its not stock

lol what the... ?
i just installed it and it runs super smooth at 60fps even with the CPU locked at a low 1000mhz!
that is what i call a optimized game.
but as i said you probably have a CPU that dont knows what freq it wants to use and games dont like it.
just lock the Min/Max CPU speed at the same mhz and come back with a comment
Edit: just tried Subway Surfer with the Stock CPU Governor "Interactive" and stock speeds 200/1700 and it lags as you said.
not much but you notice it.
How do i lock the CPU. And what is that problem you mentioned? Im a very new android newbie

with the stock 1000mhz speeds that the CPU is using for games it wont max out the GPU.
the GPU screams for more CPU power.
the ONLY way to get games running smooth on the N10 is to LOCK the CPU speed at 1500 or 1700mhz.
but its one more problem and i think you know what it is
so to TS
dont judge the N10 for one bad optimized game(NFSMW) with stock ROM.
the games i have tried runs all at 60fps with max graphic settings.
but ok its not stock

lol what the... ?
i just installed it and it runs super smooth at 60fps even with the CPU locked at a low 1000mhz!
that is what i call a optimized game.
but as i said you probably have a CPU that dont knows what freq it wants to use and games dont like it.
just lock the Min/Max CPU speed at the same mhz and come back with a comment
Edit: just tried Subway Surfer with the Stock CPU Governor "Interactive" and stock speeds 200/1700 and it lags as you said.
not much but you notice it.

My tablet is locked at 1700mhz and is laggy in every game I try except the playstation emulator and dead trigger on low settings. Subway surfers is still laggy and need for speed is unplayable. I am a pc gamer so im very sensitive to framerates. A good way to tell the gpu is lacking is by watching text deform as you scroll, a pretty classic sign of gpu performance I believe we have the fastest cpu on the tablet front. But a much weaker gpu than the ipad 4 and it shows in our gaming performance. Im not sure how you are getting these games to run at 60fps. Sre you sure it is 60fps? I know many console gamers see 26fps and think its smooth while I think its utter rubbish.

i9505 poor gaming performance

I have poor gaming performance on my i9505. It's not lagging, but the FPS is not high enought to play the games smoothly. Actually I was waiting that all games will run smooth, when I was buing i9505, but I'm really disappointed.
for example Real Racing 3 doesnt run smoothly on high and ultra high details (which are default for i9505)- the more cars on the screen, the poor the performance.
Simpsons Tapped out - the same problem, game is lagging on some parts of the city. Actually the game has the same poor performance as on galaxy S2.
GTA Vice City also poor performance on medium and higher details.
Doesn't helps to restart the phone, there is enough available RAM +200MB when playing any game. The CPU monitor shows, that 1core runs on 100%, second core 50% and 3,4th core 0% on every game, clock is set aroung 1GHz. I'm running stock android 4.3 with touchwiz
Is it a problem of poor GPU performance, or the apps are not optimized?
Does anybody other has the same problem?
maybe there is an solution to lock GPU clock and prevent phone from downgrading the GPU clock...
Why is the phone running at 1GHz? Stock for the phone is 1.9GHz?
energy savings on?
no no, the phone is running OK, I don't have enabled power saving.
The clock of the CPU changes depending on the CPU load - it works good.
But for example, when I'm playing real racing 3 on default graphics settings, the CPU clock changes, but in average, the clock is around 1.2GHz and usually only 2 cores active. But sometimes and all it's cores goes on 100%. - this works OK.
But I don't understand, why most of the games are not smooth, and doesn't load the cpu on 100% to get smoother - that's the problem. Or maybe it's a problem of GPU?
Or the question could be: How to get the maximum performance from i9505? Because I don't think, that the games are using all of the phone performance and therefore the games are not smooth.

Gameloft and other companies have not remotely optimised their games for the S4 archetecture, so they just lag and run poorly. ART in Kitkat may well solve a lot of this issue once it is fully implemented and supported. Some games run fantastically well (bard's tale) and others (gameloft, gta vice city and others) run absolutely awful. I installed them on S3 and they run great, and the CPU useage and GPU is far better. It's a mix of the S4 and the game devs. OpenGL ES3.0 helps in 4.3 (especially google edition, touchwiz slows EVERYTHING) and ART hopefully will help again in 4.4.

so one option is to flash stock android without touchwiz, or second option is to wait for 4.4, which will come in next year?

I find the Google Edition better, but far from perfect for gaming. I'm using a rom for Google Edition. 4.4 can be flashed now with ART support, but as it is Alpha/Beta status at the moment (even though alpha/beta aren't used as they actually are in software testing) so there are niggles and bugs. I'd say flash 4.3 and see if any better, keep backups, and maybe if you're adventurous try 4.4.
As I say it's better but badly optimised games will just be badly optimised games that lag and stutter. That's gameloft in my experience in general. Filter reviews by 'from this device model only' on the play store and see how many 1 star reveiws there are from S4 users. The S3 is far faster with the same games side by side. ART better sort this rubbish out!
so maybe it's a reason to move to iOS, where the apps are perfectly optimized

As much as I love Android, the user experience on iOS is really really lovely. The games load so well and they tend (not always) to run great! Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and I don't buy into this calling names rubbish android forums always devlove into. The best user experience for me on all my devices is the iPad. It's pretty much perfect out of the box.
Obvioiusly iOS is very restrictive and closed and the keyboard drives me mad, but yeah it's a good alternative to Android.
Writing an Android app is an exercise in sacrifice. Hey there's a cool new feature in 4.3 I can use for notifications... and 95% of my customer base is gone already on older versions etc. It's very, very annoying. And throw in OEM messing with the OS and you have a huge fragmented mess on your hands.
iOS ain't perfect but let's not be totally blinded to its positive points.
EDIT: My current setup I tend to use most is my S4 (GE rom) and iPad for tablet. Seem to suit best

[Q] gaming problem

hello everyone ,,,
i've bought the lenovo a3000h tablet recently,, and it works great but i'am facing a little problem with hd games
like real racing 3 or gt racing 2 ,, simply it's just heavy especially when there is competitors with you in the race it gets so baaaaad
but on the other hand modern compat 4 works great and many other games
note:: there's about 550mb of free ram and i close any other application before starting a game
so can any body help me ??!!!
a3000 tab is using SGX544MP2 so the default setting that would be detected by the game is high setting, but in other hand, the processors itself only able to run low to medium quality graphic because its quiet low speed 1,2 even quad-core basis, so its make some of games quiet laggy.
In your case, downloar RR3 setting on the play store, and change the game setting at low to medium 2 its up to you, i guarantee youre gonna get 20-30+ fps
in other games if you meet semiliar problem, you can use gltool / chainfire, but i recommend gltool its safter, and check the glshader optimization for better performance, and use fake gpu, downgrade the gpu to tegra 2 or SGX540 its working for most game
hope it'll help
