Can't flash TW-based roms on i9505 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys, today i want to discuss about a weird issue that happened on my i9505
before i did anything was having that rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-resurrection-lollipop-v5-5-5-t3195202
then after that i decied to flash this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/touchwiz-lollipop-leaked-rom-i9505-t3027063
but then i got this error on TWRP :
Code:
Upating partition details..

...done
when i flash an another TW-based rom i get the same error, but when i flash an cm-based rom no errors at all
i can flash stock rom, but the weirdest thing is that download mode recognizes the stock rom as custom rom
please help
EDIT 1: i will try to do a re-partition on my device and see what will happen, maybe it will fix it?
EDIT 2:i think re-partition fixed the problem, i see download mode recognizes the stock rom as it is, now what is left is rooting the device and see if is successfully flashing TW based roms with no errors
EDIT 3: and yup, finally fixed my issuse, all what i needed was re-partition on my device

Anyone?

- Are you sure you have an I9505? Boot into download mode, there is your model.
- Are you running the latest TWRP?

I'm having the same issue, but how do you re-partition this phone?

You need a PIT file (available on the forums) and Odin. We have a thread on how to use the PIT file somewhere in the forums. You'll have to search for it.

I used D802 (Eur) and tried flash from twrp but error occurred:
"Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Verifying zip signature...
E: Zip signature verification failed: 1
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/D802_EUR_KKMODEM_AOSP.zip'"
Next i tried flash this modem using flashify and wipe - still not working.
I also have a problem with the signal strength. My modem - M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190084.

No I didn't flash kk baseband can you tel me how can I do this? Which one baseband should I download and flash for my LG G2 D802 Int?
sorry I am not entirely sure why you have the problem. my guess is that the zip might not be downloaded correctly, try downloading again and flashed it through twrp 2.7.0.0?
for myself, my rotation issue was solved on another rom when i flashed stock kk baseband instead of dr87's aosp modified version. (as i was swtiching between stock based and aosp roms) you might want to give it a try if it fails again. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=12880

I tried flash zip from your link and again failed:
Failed
"Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Verifying zip signature...
E: Zip signature verification failed: 1
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/KK_Baseband_D802.zip'".
wtf?
I'm sorry but i'm not very sure about this problem.
1) When you flashed, the file was downloaded correctly right? Re-download if the file was incomplete.
2) Perhaps you could check if in TWRP> SETTINGS> Zip signature verification is Unchecked.
Try flashing the aosp modem again first, if all else fails then you can try the stock modem (as that is not guaranteed to solve auto-rotate problem)
Its not a download problem. I also have this problem and have found no solutions yet. Any particular CM11 nightly that have this bug working?

As you changed the partition structure by flashing a pit file, now you may need a pit file from G900FQ to flash FQ-firmware

[Q] Troubleshooting ROM Install Issue

Ok, so I had a quick question before I do something stupid. I've been trying to install ROMs on my g900v but some fail, and some are successful. I do the same steps with all ROMs; wipe, install, boot. Some of them just won't install.
My question is: Do I have to have matching firmware or kernal installed prior to flashing the ROM for it to install successfully? (i.e. NK2 firmware on my phone would prevent a ROM made with NI2 firmware from installing)

Yes, have to be the same firmware version. You are referring to flashing through safestrap, correct?
Yes, using safestrap. So I have to have the matching firmware flashed before I attempt to flash there ROM? Also do I need to flash the kernel? Or does flashing the firmware include the kernal?

All you have to do is flash the firmware only tar nothing else. When you install whatever rom you want just boot into download mode after you install the rom then flash the firmware in odin. Each rom thread has the installation instructions in the op which should also have a link to the firmware needed for that rom.

Ok, my issue starts before that then. I go to install, we'll say Optimal ROM since that's the last one I had trouble with, and it says failed on the install. I wipe, and I have the proper firmware installed beforehand, but it still fails. I'm stumped.

Don't know why it's failing for you as long as you're doing a full wipe then flashing the rom (make sure the md5 matches on your rom download) then flash the firmware you shouldn't have a problem.

So the md5 for the firmware has to match the md5 for the ROM I'm trying to install? I mean I'm not new to this stuff, but the newer everything gets, the more complicated it gets, ya know. new phone for me and its a little more complicated this time around.

No what i was saying is after you download a rom you should check to make sure the md5 of that rom matches the posted md5 that's under every rom link. If your downloaded rom's md5 doesn't match what's posted then you got a bad download and you'll need to download the rom again till the md5 matches. Im thinking you have a bad download since you're failing installing certain roms. There's a few md5 checkers in the playstore or you can use a file manager like Astro file which i use to check my md5. That's the first place i would start if a rom failed to install.

S4 GT-9505 Boot loop: just before boot animation starts it restarts

Hi guys,
i have read a lot of articles and tried a lot of combinations... problem still there.
My problem is on GT-I9505 when I start the phone, only after the first start after new firmware update, I could see for a second animated samsung logo but seems that is collorized (some red, lila colors on it ) and then black screen, vibration and restart. The blue light will blink all the time.
I'm able to get into download mode and recovery mode (if is called like that)
What all i tried - some of them:
-tried to install with Odin new/old firmware. Everytime it is successfully but the problem still there
-tried to wipe to the factory
-tried with odin also ROM to put (not sure if is possible this if phone is not rooted and it is not, because i don't know how to do that if i can't boot it)
Any help?
Tnx
You can't put a custom rom on it through Odin. You will need a custom recovery for that, which can be flashed with Odin.
Then you can flash custom roms. Google s4 twrp or i9505 twrp, you should get to the twrp site from where you can download the recovery and you can also find instructions.

Tnx for the answer. I have tried with twrp (i flash that recovery) but every time checking MD5 of ROM (zip) is failing. I also tried with zip.md5 file next to rom with content like : 11111xxsx3333 *file_name.zip
But is not working still...

In progress. Just to mention that phone is not rooted. I think that shouldn't be a problem ? And also debug mode is not enabled (because i can't turn on my phone)
Ah... I tried also another ROM. Still same.
Checking for MD5 file... (it took about 1,2 min)
E: Aborting zip install
MD5 does not match
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/.....
Updating partition details...
...done

MD5 errors are usually caused by the file not being downloaded correctly.
I know, but if i don't put I md5sum file nexto to the zip ROM, then immediately check error appears. I'm using check md5 app and i have checked the file also on SD card...
This S4 is from Austria T-Mobile...seems so hard to install custom ROM. I'm not able also from CWR to install from zip.
I tried also different ROM-s. Is not possible that all 5 zip ROM are corrupted in download. When i check with MD5 checker says OK.
Only what I could install from SD was Supers user.zip (that should be root phone)
If somebody has some suggestion I would appreciate otherwise i will give up.

My SM-G530T is messed up...

Hi,
I am trying to install custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530T). I have tried several recoveries. The one seems to work well is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gra...om-recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0for-lollipop-t3190351.
I can go into recovery but when I try to install a custom ROM from the recovery (trying to install this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/rom-lollipop-deodexed-t3241741). I get the following error:
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to mount '/preload'
Is there a way to overcome this and install a custom rom and bring the phone back to life? I have erased everything and there is no backup. So I can't boot the phone at all now. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Can someone provide me with a PIT file for SM-G530T (T-mobile)? That might help my cause.
Have you tried a factory reset? Also, I may have a pit file for you. I don't remember where I got it from, but I think it was in a thread here. I will check when I get home later.

First thing you do is download the firmware on your computer unzip the file you should have the tar file and pit file in the zip. Use Odin put the tar file in AP slot then the pit file in the pit box. I usually check the options
