One Plus Two costs over $500 for EU Consumers. Do you think is it worth it? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody!
I have a oneplus two invite which is about to expire in a couple of hours.
I havent realized till the end of payment process that Oneplus charges 45EU for shipping, which drives the price of OPT to 450 EUR which is over $500.
I found it brutal to charge so much for the shipping, and did not order the phone.
Do you think OPT worths $500?
Thanks a lot in advance
All the best

There has been another post about how the Nexus 6 and LG G4 came in cheaper for shoppers in Germany…
Anyway, that’s A LOT for shipping – think it was £7 for the slow delivery to me in the UK (which is part of the EU obviously).
At current exchange rates (E1.3 to £1) E450 seems like a bad deal for my continental brethren – it should be more like E410 delivered surely?
It’s a very nice phone, for the price I paid, but with Motorola’s 2015 flagships and the new Nexus phones on the horizon it perhaps doesn’t represent good value at the price you’ve been quoted. To be honest – whilst I love the fingerprint scanner, the OP2 isn’t that much better than the OP1, which for the money is possibly the best phone on the market right now.

Thanks a lot!
Even though i was tempted I did not order the phone indeed.
They are very successful in marketing. I would never consider it for 450EUR if i knew it in the beginning, but i was almost ordering the phone.
Have a great day!

Shipping to Germany is 20€ without express. So altogether it costs 419€. That's fine for me. It arrived in around one week so I don't think express shipping is needed for German customers.

For me there was only express shipping available.
I skipped OPT for the reason that you won't get any customer service even though you will be paying a flagship phone price of a well established company.
I would like to use a phone for at least 2 years. It just didnt seem reliable.

exact same in here shipped from China to Austria within one week, € 419,-- equals to US$ 470,--
my OpO shipped from UK to Austria within 2 days without express a few month ago!

I live in a small island in Denmark and the only option for shipping was "express".
I tried different addresses of friends in the mainland and still the price of shipping did not change.
Are you happy with your phones?

Alright that's a pitty, but 45€ I also would not have paid for shipment.
I am satisfied with the phone.
It's working quite well and I also have the OnePlus One and never had any issues with it.

Play.com (UK) - Price and Order date now showing

Pfffffttt ... what the!
I've been keeping an eye on Amazon UK and Play UK for the Galaxy tab, well Play now have a price and release date for the 16GB version ..... are you sitting down?
£899.99 Free delivery Due for release on 04 July 2011.
Edit: The spec isn't right either.
899 GBP for 16GB???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No way ... too damn expensive ...
They are either mistaken or they're taking the piss, Amazon.de are advertising it at EUR 637,98, that's about £563.
I've just emailed Play.com asking why the price is so high and they've just responded with:-
Dear Customer,
We are pleased to inform you that 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 / Dual Core 1GHz / 16GB / 10.1 inch Touch Screen / Android 3.0 Honeycomb / Tablet' is now available to order. Click on the link below to pre-order now!

At that rate it would be better to order from Amazon.de although Amazon UK may announce a price soon? What are the implications of buying a German unit, it is just classed as a European unit, warranty wise etc?
Yes,
in this regard EU is treated as one so id does not really matter where you buy.
The only difference might be a posting cost.
I have bought stuff from Pixmania (FR) when I was living in the UK with delivery to Poland. (no problems). I have just bought (now being in Poland) Sapphire Xtreme HD 5850 - also no problem.
So... if amazon.de is first to send them away you do not risk anything.
In the past I bought Vaio form Sony Outlet in Holland - fine as well.
Having that in mind... I wonder if Apple isn't breaking the law (EU law) by offering only 12 months of warranty???
As far as I know all manufacturers selling their products in EU are supposed to offer 2 yr. warranty at minimum (no less).
And again on a different note... I am quite grateful for EU being regarded by manufacturers as one country/market. In the past we would wait ages in separate countries for lunch of devices, prices, updates, etc... it is without a doubt better than before we were all completely separate.
I called Play.com and they are looking into it to see if it is a pricing error. They will email me when they know more.
In the mean time, we need to find the best place to get this device in the UK, even if that means ordering from elsewhere in Europe.
I will let you know ass soon as they are available in PL. With Polish Zloty loosing ground because of Greece it might actually work out cheaper for you .
At the moment you are looking at approx. 625 EURO (predicted price, dont know about delivery).
Another issue is, although Samsung will honor warranty in Europe, if the product is faulty when it arrives I will need to send it back to the retailer and they might be abroad. Postage and a language barrier might cause some hassle.

That was my concern with getting stuff from USA (Motorola does not have a worldwide warranty and again - if you buy in USA, you only have 12 months ).
With buy in in EU it is not a problem - buy in Poland, UK, Greece - and you can get it repaired or exchanged through your local representative/service/etc.
It is very nice that it works this way.

Actually I think that was just an automated email as I'd signed up to be notified of availability, it can't be the response to my WTF email re the price on their site.
Folks, thanks for your input ref European warranty.
Thanks for the heads-up up on that, but that price must be a provisional one, much as happened with the initial pricing of the GS 2, which saw its price gradually drop down as its release approached to a much more reasonable level.
I have had my "hands on" today with Transformer.
As I treat this as "tablet for a while" I also want to be able to sell it easily in future and loose as little as possible.
SG 10.1 as much as it is sexy is too limited.
My choice will be Transformer 16GB + keyboard dock - and than I will wait for Kal-El or something else (light, with sd slot that plays mkv and other formats and has sexy look and great batt. life) - this will keep me going for a while.
At the moment I am only thinking... buy now (and use netbook as well) or wait till netflix app will show up as it should have a better price by that time... (I hope non of you think it - netflix app - will not show up).

You're most likely right about it being a provisional price, but what happens if a buyer orders it at the over inflated price and it then reduces by say £300, would they get it at the reduced price?
I'm weary of Play, they tried to pull a fast one on me a few months ago.

If I recall correctly Play don't charge your card until the item is ready to post. I've found they are rubbish when emailing, so I just call them and they are fine on the phone.

Yes that's what I did with the Transformer, I do prefer to be able to walk in and get it sorted straight away.
Called up Play.com and now they are looking into the specifications.
It probably didn't help that I got pissed off at the guy because he was giving me generic answers, so when he asked me how I knew their website was wrong I said I work in the IT sector and carry out the necessary research rather than spend all day talking to customers in a monotone and boring voice.
A galaxy tab for a down to earth price...
When the Transformer wasn't widely available, Carphone Warehouse had it. I ordered and it came the next day. I returned it to my local CPW (because of a screen gap), they refunded my card straight away.
Thinking about it though, the Galaxy Tab is expensive compared to the $499 that the US is being charged...so tempted to order it from Amazon.com using viaddress. I haven't used them before, but I'm thinking worst case scenario, I have to pay import duty so that'd put it near the price of Amazon.de - but if it works out, I could get one for about £350. Either way i'd probably get it in a week...

Best deal...who's selling the note for less?

I'll be getting this phone with in the next month, but I was curious what outlets you guys are aware of that are selling the phone.
I saw it on amazon 2 weeks ago for $900.00. Today its around $700, but I wanted to know if you guys knew of anywhere with even better deals.
It's a long shot I know, but I figure it is worth asking. Thanks
I would like to know this too. Seems the 'Hands Down Cheapest Place to Buy' thread is dead
Every day I scour XDA, Google, Ebay, etc looking for prices. I'm in Canada. With taxes, etc I think I'm looking at about $800 more or less (can anyone confirm that?). I think after Christmas I may go for this price but ideally I'm looking to pay about $700 more or less total. Then I'm worried about screen issues or a dead pixel which happened with the Nexus One I ordered from the States so I don't really want to ship it back overseas if this happens which it may judging by other threads...
So I'm looking for it to come down about another $100 but dont know if/when this will happen.
And ideally would like it to be released in Canada or even the US so I don't have to get it shipped which may lower that cost? But don't know if or when that will happen.
Then there is the fear that Samsung will discontinue it and I'll never get one or the prices will shoot up or something?
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/5504/samsung-galaxy-note--16gb--sim-free-unlocked-
About $670 without VAT. From what I've seen in other threads, it doesn't apply if you're outside the EU. I think that might take the cake as the cheapest?
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...RDX6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322262246&sr=8-1
Also Amazon has a couple different sellers with the SGN in stock. Around low 700-750s. Most of these are in the US which would be better in case of a defect.

I ordered mine from HandTec when they had it listed briefly for £418.99 plus £14.99 shipping, for a total of £433.98, (which PayPal converted to $697.46), but HandTec has put the price back to £434.90 + shipping since I ordered. May still be the best price, however.
OTOH, Amazon now has a Prime 2-day shipping seller for $739. I'd pay the extra $40 or so bucks to have Amazon peace of mind if I had seen a price that good 4 days ago.

Ditto . . . .
Hands Down Cheapest...
Well I still think Clove.co.uk is the best place to buy at this time simply because they're including a matching Samsung OEM Flip Case free! Also, being a commodity and having the price fluxuate by the hour (literally) keep checking MobileCityOnline.com too!
These two places at one point during the day can hit anywhere from $699 - $729 at the absolute lowest. But keep in mind Clove.co.uk INCLUDES the free Samsung OEM Flip Case. For some that's a deal maker plus most other outlets are selling this same flip case for $65 on average.
That is why if you catch Clove on the lower end of price fluxuation it's such a good deal. You won't go wrong choosing either one of these retailers that's the good news. The only possible bad news is at what price you'll end up paying for your Note.
Anyway you do it - your going to LOVE THIS PHABLET!
Abso - ****ing - lutly love it... quote me on that too.

Charge $30 for what? FedEx hasn't charged me anything in the States for ordering from Handtec.
By far cheapest place to buy this phone is from India.
You get this phone for about US$ 615-620 range which includes official Samsung flip cover in the package.
If there is significant interest from people in states or UK, some of you guys can get in touch with some ebay.in sellers with good reputation and request him for shipping quote and get him to create a special thread for you guys.
Last time around with SGS2 couple of my mates from US requested a seller from ebay india this way and got him to create a private listing for them and got their SGS2.
Or if you guys trust someone from India around here in these forums, get him to purchase phones and paypal the funds to him.

Possible to order this tablet from US to India?

I am still interested in this tablet but the price in India is completely ridiculous, around 47000 (almost $800) for the 32 GB 3G version. I thought Samsung might lower it over time but the price hasn't budged in 9 months.
I am interested in the 16GB Wifi version which seems to be available for around $350 refurbished on Amazon. I was wondering if any Indian posters have ordered it through them and what the final price is after shipping, taxes etc.
Online / store price the best that I have seen is INR 45,500...
But I agree on both counts
1. Price has certainly proved resistant to lowering
2. Its expensive (currently picked up an ipad air 16 gb for 36k at amazon india)
Have not ordered this from US as I will prefer to buy it local because
1. Warranty and repair service - god forbid something goes wrong with the tablet, doubt samsung would honor the warranty of another country and am not confident on the situation of parts and all for a model not sold here locally...service in India stinks!
2. Custom duties - we have some crazy custom duties typicall plus add the cost of shipping and chances are whatever savings in the price you get will be nullified by the cost of having it delivered in your hands.
Me, even if I could accept the second.l, cannot accept the first as I don't want to end up with an expensive paper weight.
Purely my own thoughts, yours may of course vary.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
I agree with your points which is why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of ordering from India especially with respect to point 2. If the savings are sufficient I would be prepared to risk the lack of warranty.
Samsung has really missed the boat with pricing on this tablet. They could have easily launched the 16GB wifi version for 35. And it's baffling that they have refused to reduce the price. The Note 3 which was released at the same time is now 38 and the GS5 which was released 6 months later is 35. Hopefully once they launch the newer version, the price on the 2014 will drop sharply.
i just received mine yesterday. i bought it via amazon.
It was used( open box Like new). And really is just new unit. But there is little bump on back side near samsung logo.( I searched on google and many new unit also have same issue. and anyway its not noticable.)
Price was $387 (including fast shipping in 2-5 days). It converted into 24263 inr (always place order in USD).
It shipped via fedex. custom duty is little less than 15%.+ fedex fees and service tax. Totally i paid 4268 inr as duty.
Its super easy just make everything clear with seller.
I hope it helps you.
Thanks. So it works out to around 29000. I have to say that's quite tempting even given the warranty issues.
Yeah that's the reason i got one.

Priv Price Revealed (It's not good news)

Carphone Warehouse are now taking pre-orders for the Blackberry Priv,
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/phones/blackberry-priv
The bad news? £580 sim-free. (That's the equivalent of about $900 US)
If you ask me, Blackberry are pricing themselves out of the market. At minimum it's £100 overpriced in order to be competitive, especially when compared to something like the Nexus 6P. The maximum price for this should have been £450, and even then it would be a major uphill struggle to shift 5 million units.
I was so excited for this phone, but at that price I think my money would be better spent on a 6P.
I was waiting for this phone as the only option for Android, HW keyboard and decent specs.... but at this price I don't think it makes much sense. Heck even the corporate procurement officers will scratch their heads with such a price, even if the security is top notch. Common BB, get serious!
Settle down, guys. That's the European price and most likely includes VAT. Electronics are also more expensive in Europe. It'll most likely be $599 or $649 here.
MSRP $949 in Canada.

I would think that depreciation value of this phone would be quite high due to BlackBerry current circumstances and market share. However I could be wrong, it could hold it's value because of being a niche product. If it's a hit then I could see them holding the same price for at least a year or more but if it's not then it might see the Amazon Fire phone slash and burn price method.
mobilesyrup article puts pricing at $799 CAN which puts a US price at more like $599
Apparently it was momentarily priced for $749 USD.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/10/21/blackberry-priv-pre-orders-open-in-us-for-749-ship-november-16/
I'm wondering how much of that is actually BlackBerry and how much is CarphoneWarehouse. It wouldn't be the first time a device has been unpopular simply because of how and where it was marketed.
Preorder pricing has always been a little "stab in the dark" as far as I'm concerned, the only thing we can really do is wait. I'm really hoping the competition between retailers drives the price to a slightly saner number but I'm not holding my breath.
The Priv looks like an amazing device but £580 is a little rich for my blood.
I think it will probably similar priced as the galaxy S6+, perhaps slightly more.

Although Rogers is doing 399/2yr or 799 outright.

Buying outright from Rogers and unlocking is cheaper in any case.
blackberry always overprices its devices, mostly people buy it to use it as a STATUS SYMBOL
Not necessarily. Passport was $699 at launch, still the same price for full off contract at Rogers, and you have to pay to unlock it. Bell and Telus both selling it for $750.
Canada works a bit backwards in this regard.
I was gonna get it until the price was revealed. I decided to go with the G4 and im glad i made the decision

I can't even remember the last time BB was a status symbol, at least in the US or Europe, however this is the first 'unique' Android phone in years, so you never know. I'm going to resist buying it as long as possible b/c the price will definitely drop on contract, but I don't know how long I'll be able to wait.

Which online store to buy op5?

I am looking for op5 (from Canada). The price on banggood is $556CAD and on oneplus.net/ca is $650CAD + tax (which is 19% more even after 10% student discount) 6GB/64GB. Do you have any bad experience with banggood? How reliable the oneplus.net is? Any trouble to deal with the seller when your phone should have any problem?
Last question, how do you think huawei p10 plus? It is a much more expensive phone.
I wouldn't trust any other sellers than OnePlus themselves.
Oneplus themselves... You really wouldn't want a bad experience for a tiny bit more. at least that's my opinion
I agree. You usually get what you pay for when using obscure site that many don't know. I knwo you're in Canada, but in the US, unless it's a place like amazon, Swappa or Best Buy, I'm not to into buying phones unless direct from the OEM.
I saw some article about Gearbest selling the phone for $399 if you use a certain code.
Or you can buy it from the official OnePlus website and use a certain code from XDA to get a free OnePlus case. The case is about $30 normally.
The code can be found in some XDA article from last week.
bangood are fine. check its not the chinese version which may limit the bands and have no google play store. i suppose you can flash oxygen rom etc. also remember you will probably run the risk of paying custom tax.
Thanks all. It seems oneplus.net is a reliable place to shopping. Is there data for where people buying their op5? It could be interesting.
I bought mine from OnePlus. I know I overpaid being in Canada with our crappy dollar but I needed to switch to a dual sim phone and the OnePlus was the only dual sim phone I knew of that I was sure I'd be happy with so I was willing to switch from the s8 to the OnePlus 5 even though it was almost the same amount of money. The ordering process was nice and easy and the phone arrived to my door in Canada in less than a week by DHL. I got frequent status updates on the shipping. So far it's better than the s8 in some ways and a downgrade in others. Which is the "better" phone depends what you need or like better.
I would not worry, there is no dodgy copies of oneplus 5 around to my knowledge. Just make sure it has OOS on it ,but even if it comes with the Chinese software you can Flash OOS later. Only on hardware spec(except for memory and storage), Surely you have a one week return policy in Canada also. Android phones never brake until warranty period has expired
No problem here... just got my OP5 from banggood for 400 €... it is 100€ cheaper than oneplus
Buy from the OEM direct even if it costs a little more you have 0 problems with a return or whatever if you have an issue with the device
got mine from aliexpress took 9 days cost £370 6/64 global rom, but then again its a bit worrying ordering from china constantly checking tracking

Ordered mine 128GB from Gearbest on Aug 31th, and the tracking website wrote today "Departure to country of destination". I don't understand if it's from China or from Europe (need to reach Italy)... let's hope !!

I agree with this 100%, i've had way better experiences purchasing direct from the manufacturer when it comes to repairs, warranties, etc. When I purchase from Best Buy or online resllers, the seller just tells me "Welp, you didn't purchase the 300$ warranty so..... You're SOL buddy! Good luck contacting the manufacturer!"
I purchased my Samsung Chromebook plus from Best Buy and regretted it. The chromebook had a hardware defect, I called Best Buy and brought it to the Best Buy store I bought it from and they said "WEll, sorry dude, you didn't buy the warranty.." Then I called Samsung and they told me "If you purchased it through us, we could just replace your chromebook , because you went through a reseller, we can only repair it"
I had to get it repaired twice for the same problem I regret not purchasing from Samsung direct, even if it had been a few bucks more.
