LED doesn't work since moving from CM12.1 to stock 5.1.1 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
After some issues with CM, I moved to stock 5.1.1. I added xposed and gravitybox for my desired tweaks, and now everything works as I like it except the LED.
It's just dead. Nothing gets it to shine except when charging (so I know it's not a hardware issue).
I've tried with GravityBox's Ultimate Notification feature (I have the paid version), and also other apps like Light Flow, Light Manager, and LED Test, but nothing turns the light back on.
Any ideas? something else to try?
Thanks.

LED flashing when turning on my phone, Please Help

Hi, so recently i flashed a custom rom called [JDCTeam][STABLE][5.1.1][26 January] Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 builds (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696)
on my phone and since then, everytime I turn on my phone a variety of light like light led just flashes before my phone turn on so i was just wanted stop them but don't know how,:crying::crying::crying:
If anyone can help me, that will be super awesome. Thanks for reading this
It's normal.
But there should be an app called JDC Toolbox that gives you some LED settings.

Led light not working on samsung s8

My led light doesng work for my galaxy s8 plus i ha e tried checking the settings, it just doesnt work. The charging led light also doesnt work. It just doesnt work. Have tried to dial *#0*# to check the led setting even in that it doesn't work? Anyone else havjng the same issue?
Just checked mine for you and it works for me in the led tester. Cycles through the 3cilours. You might want to go into safe mode and try that tester again. If it still isn't working... You'll need to cheng your phone
How ti get into safe mode.
And i have been reading various threads that after the latest nougat update it stopped working for people, so im wonderkng if its a software issue or haddware issue
I am having the same problem, it worked when I first got it, then it updated and it stopped working, I have tried everything, even a factory reset, and nothing happens. Also tried the Samsung service menu and nothing.
It's really upsetting the phone is 3 days Old!
I had a note 7 and now This!
Hope the battery doesn't blow up!
Before returning the phone I would do factory reset, also sometimes cycling the setting could get it unstock. Mine worked fine before and after update.
All good and working for me.
There is a similar discussion in a German forum. Seems several people are affected. I cannot post links here, but you'll find it on a known online community site called "android-hilfe" in the Galaxy S8 section.
It happend to my S8+, too. After two days, the LED stopped working, and nothing helped (factory reset etc.). Had to return the phone.
Do you use an app like "Light Manager", "LED Blinker", "LightFlow" or similar?
Users in german forum report, that these apps might cause damage of LED of S8/S8+ :

I did not use such an App.

Forgot that Lightflow was one of the apps Google auto downloaded for me - this was causing my LED to not work right.
Thank you
Hello all.
I am on my second S8+ plus and the LED is now dead again. I use light manager pro and I have the led settings set to start at red when battery is low and then slowly ramp up to green via yellow for 50% to 75% until it hits 76% charge then goes green.
I suspected the app to kill the led in the phone, never happened on my S3, S4, S5 or S6 edge. No root on S8 so it has to use the kernels default brightness settings so it should not be able to kill the LED.....
I suspect that it is simply not built to do more than red, green and blue, when you mix in pinks, orange, purple and more, the thing just dies due to too much power to run all LEDs to create other colors. I think Samsung have gone cheep on us with the notification LED as they believe AOD is the way forward, which out be fine if they could implement a dot on the screen when the display is off, like the notification LED, only AMOLED.
Really upset as I love the rest of the phone but I really use the notification LED a lot and lean on it a great deal.
Same problem here. Stopped working last night after 12 days. I do have Lightflow but it's always worked fine on my S4 and S6.
Returning and replacing today, hopefully.
My S8+'s LED died without using such an app.

Are you using AQDG firmware? There is a user reported that AQDD firmware works fine so far, suspected AQDG firmware update could have spoilt it.

I am still waiting for the replacement phone (don't know the sw version). Mine did not get an sw update though so I cannot blame it for the issue (referring to the thread you linked).

What baseband firmware version are you using on your device with broken LED?

Hello Mckoo, Jevon Greatorex here. I have been emailing with you regarding this issue.
AQDG is current firmware and the first phone died before AQDG. I remember hoping that the update might fix it.
So you should be considering that the firmware before AQDG could be the cooperate if you think it's related at all.
Jevon
My Led works perfectly and I have all different colours set for my contacts.
I also have edge notifications working perfectly, no red tint, no home button issues, incredible battery life, gmail notifications, no scratches and no issues with bloat.
Did I miss anything?

This thread is about a problem. Consider not filling it with bloat and instead give us your base-band number.

[Q] How to activate the led notification on stock?

So recently I went from stock to Lineage and now (after Nougat) I'm back at stock.
When I started using Lineage all of a sudden the green (charging) led also worked for notifications.
I really liked that. Is there a way to activate that again, but on stock? I can't find anything online...
Thanks
Edit: Using a XT1580
No. That's a custom ROM feature. In stock is only used as a low battery notification, and there's no way to control it.
Same thing with Quark, the predecessor to Kinzie. All the custom ROMs use the green low battery indicator as an LED notification light, thanks to @bhb27 (one of the main Quark devs). That's probably where the Lineage dev for Moto X Force got the code from.
Someone could probably make an Xposed or Magisk module that uses that code, but right now I don't know of a way on stock firmware.

Request - Stock LED Light Implementation

I've been looking around these forums for quite a while now, hoping to find a near-stock ROM based on the latest NPN25.137-83 North American firmware that has integrated notification LED support. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything.
This ROM is the closest thing I can find to what I'm looking for. Very nearly stock - just zipaligned, debloated, deodexed, a simple camera mod, and the LED enabled for notifications. The only downside is that it's not based on 137-83. Considering the March security patch, it seems to be based on 137-67 at the latest. And the developer of the linked ROM apparently has no plans to integrate the August security patch or the rest of the 137-83 firmware (a big problem for me considering the Verizon VoLTE bugs on 137-67).
There are other solutions too, like the Moto LED enabler app, but it's not that reliable. The blinking follows some sporadic and unappealing pattern, and it sometimes likes to stop blinking entirely after a while. The list of apps that enable the LED also seems to periodically reset itself.
So, my question is as follows: would someone release a ROM similar to the one I linked with the latest firmware and patches? Or perhaps can we just get a TWRP flashable zip to enable the LED for notifications? I'll gladly pull some weight on this if someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you!
Would really like to see this implemented as well, Paranoid Android rom I tested a while back also had this implemented very well, even works with screen on.
I'd like this as well.
I tried with Tasker but, due to deep sleep, it stops to work after few seconds of screen off (it works fine only enabling the option "Keep Device Awake" but battery drains quickly)

LED (for notifications and charging) no longer works

Hi all.
I installed Nitrogen OS Oreo with the full knowledge that the LED didn't light up when charging. However, with my brief use of it, the LED never lit up for anything. Since the battery life wasn't to my liking, I installed Fake Nexus 7.1 ROM. The LED still never lit up.
So, I installed Google's stock image for 5.1.1 LMY48T, figuring that should fix things. That didn't work either. "Pulse notification light" is set to on.
I installed LED Tester and it's able to make the LED light up in all its glorious colors, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
The LED worked fine before installing Nitrogen OS Oreo.
Any idea what happened? Anyone know how to fix it?
Thank you.

Wipe everything and install stock and check.

Installing the stock image wipes everything. Thanks, though.
Since the battery life of the stock image isn't so great, I thought I'd be adventurous and install LineageOS 14.1. last night Somehow doing that has made the LED work again. I'll leave it installed for now and see if I like it.
So I guess the problem is solved, though it's still a mystery.
