Change to note 5? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, so far my experience with the s6 edge plus is not so good. It overheats and sometimes is laggy. My friend who also bought the same model g928c from the same shop in UAE said his s6 edge plus broke because it overheated too much. I like the look and design though. If I sell my current s6 edge plus should I change to note 5 like my friend did? Or should I buy another working s6 edge plus? I can't return my current one because I live in the UK.

Never had any overheating or lag related to stock ROM so couldn't help you. I've heard the note tends to have more software lag due to specialized SPen programs and that the Edge+ is smoother. That's just hearsay though.

No heating here even after heavy gaming and never faced lag issues
Sent from my SM-G928G using XDA Free mobile app

Wrong thread buddy.........snapdragons across the street

Never felt mine get even close to hot?
Lag.. a little.. but that seems to be more because the apps keeps closing

Should I just sell my 64gb g928c and buy a dual sim 32gb g9287 or 32gb g928f?
Or note 5?

On my G298F no lag and no overheats. @hayat55 hard reset your terminal and update it to the latest firmware via OTA, if not enough bring it to a customer service and keep your GS6+.

One classic reason when I make such an expensive purchase is to ensure I have customer protection.
If you think about this no UK shop or outlet will willingly touch your phone as you have not made the purchase through them, however, .........unless Samsung has changed its policy you will find your phone has an international warranty. THE problem for you will be finding a Samsung outlet that will deal with your mobile. The problems are compounded as nearly all outlets use one technical shop to repair all their mobiles, don't think for one second when any Mobile goes wrong it is returned to the importer its not. iPhone maybe the one exception?
May I suggest you contact Samsung UK directly and request assistance. They may either request you send them your phone or give you the name of an outlet where your phone can be examined for problems.
I live in Southern Europe and very often the mobiles here are vastly more expensive than they are in Amazon.de, for example. On times I will take a chance as Amazon have a cast iron reputable returns policy. Other times if the financial difference is small I suck it up and purchase here. I bought my Edge+ here to avoid return problems.
One thing you will always need is your dated receipt and on said receipt it must have the serial number or IMEI of the mobile. I doubt you will find much joy with dealing with outlets etc as they have not made a profit on the sale.
Samsung UK may even be 'grumpy' about it BUT I am confident if you get to a person who knows the law and is a decent enough member of staff they will help you. Hey, I purchase such items here sometimes have a problem and call the UK office and they have, to date, always answered my questions. Do NOT let the switchboard operator prevent you from speaking to the service or customer relations department.
I know for sure such international companies used to include in the box an international warranty, Sony certainly still do even listing world wide head offices for customers to contact. I cant recall if Samsung now include in the box such a warranty?
One thing for sure this mobile is a bloomin good one. I often purchase four mobiles a year I have now the S6, S6 Edge+, iPhone 6, Sony Xperia Z2 and Ultra etc. Though I have found all those mentioned to be superb mobiles the Samsung's appear to have developed extremely fast in a very short space of time. Hell, this Edge+ is micro engineered like a Swiss watch. Gone are those awful days of plastic metals and plastic leather etc.
Oh. I guess you could pay DHL or UPS and have it returned to the shop of origin, Postal cost would be about £10 to £15.00? Only enclose a photo copy of your receipt.
Let us know what progress you make. I do hope you resolve your situation. Best of luck. :highfive:

HTC Warranty Support is Shocking!!

I recently noticed my HTC had white spots showing when browising on a white background which was annoying me. I have looked after my phone and it's unmarked but thought well its under warranty so might as well get it sorted. Phoned HTC and advised them of the problem. They said no worres we will pick it up tomorrow from your work and it will take 10 days to sort out. Got an email today saying the repair is not under warranty either pay £198 for a replacement board, pay £20 to ship back or let them scrap it??? WTF! So I had to pay £20 to get my phone back and really wished I hadn't bothered now. Just hoping it is still working as it was fine apart from the small fault at the start. Has anyone else had any bad experiences?? I might write a letter of complaint to them.
T Mobile replaced two HD2's for me, I didn't even purchase them from T Mobile. I guess you should go with the TMOUS next time.

I have send my HD2 5time to warranty never had to pay 20£!
But It already cost me a lot of time=money.
They do awful swap old one for refurbrished one.
Refurbrished means not a FACTORY build one but UK hand made JUNK!
It has been 3 time serviced and 2times swap!In 3 months
AND FOR MORE FUN its going again for swap!
3repeirs 3swap good job HTC good JOB.
NEVER ever HTC
but maybe who don't want to have kind of new mob every week
The whole swapping process has 2 targets:
- Faster service for you
- Reduce cost for HTC
Repairing a device with tiny little formats of virtually all parts can take time and needs quite some test procedures after the work is done. Once finished, fixed devices go into the swapping pool. Or get scrapped, if not repairable at reasonable cost.

You sounds like one from HTC
1ST swapping is NICE if is swap for new factory made product not a refubrished one from HTC made by hand!
2ND My HD2 was 3times repaired and 2times sw.
ques witch of these procedures were longer . . . swapping!
So maybe in different country but not in UK-London
UK-swap means Phone built up by somebody in UK by hand!!!-nothing to do with HTC from TW-boxed brend new
No, I am not HTC, but I´ve got many years of experience with other manufacturers.
Imagine you are this manufacturer. Refurbishing is a logical solution. Repair work is done by human beings. You cannot trash all defective devices, that would be too expensive. Fixing broken units, or assembling working ones with parts from broken ones is definitely cheaper. And trust me, according to years of experience, it definitely works in most cases. And finally, please remember that after 2 failed attempts of fixing the same (or at least "your") device, you get the right or should try to claim a new unit instead of a fixed one - it´s European law.
And yes, most manufacturers do not run their own service centers, usually service is done by third party companies. Any reasonable manufacturer will tightly control the quality of a) the freshly made devices and b) the repaired devices. At the end, an angry customer is usually much more expensive than a happy customer. Try to see it from this end.
All this apart, it is obvious that most recently, the number of bricked devices has grown dramatically. Maybe there are too many strange errors due to flashing Android stuff, which come with bad drivers etc, and the service centers are kind of overwhelmed with too much work, who knows.
If I was HTC, I would also watch carefully what is going on - and I think they do. They can easily see also here at xda that recent growth of "bricked device" threads. I cannot blame them for being careful, honestly spoken. It is simply a professional attitude.
HTC Romania
I just (yesterday) got my HD2 back from the repair service.
It had to go there 3 times. 2 times for the digitizer problem, and the 3rd time for the fact that the Sdcard reader was not functioning anymore.
It took them a month or 2 to repair everything, but it's working again. Service sucks? Nope, not really. I did not buy the phone here in Romania, but since it's an HTC one, the HTC warranty applies everywhere in Europe.
I can't say HTC sucks in their warranty cases.

WHAT I NEED MORE
The annoying after sales experience that i had concerning HTC, has to do with a phone that i purchased by a Greek shop about 6 months ago, which, as i found out, is of Portuguese (or Spanish) origin. The phone is now in need of service but HTC claims that they provide service only for phones that have been sold by them within Greece, so they refuse to receive my phone. Instead they tell me to send it to Spain (obviously the transfer costs should be provided by me).
Its really kind of awkward to not provide local service since their Warranty states that 'if you have purchased the Product in a member state of European Union, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey and HTC originally intended the Product for sale in one of these countries, this Limited Warranty is valid and enforceable in all of these above listed countries'. Yet, they seem to ignore this paragraph of their Warranty.
Its really kind of awkward for a multinational company like HTC refuses to provide service for their phones irrespectively of the location (at least within the European union boundaries).
I used to be a big fan of HTC, and i have spend a lot of money over the last years buying premium phones (for premium money of course). I expected to have serious after sales support for the money given, and above all as promised within their Warranty for European citizens.
Up till now i have received irrational excuses by them, thus making me officially complaining to any consumer organizations i know. i really look forward to see the outcome.
European law is crystal clear: "Warranty" is the responsibility of the seller - not the manufacturer. It lasts 2 years. One of the major reasons this rule was created is the free trade zone of Europe - means, if your seller bought the device from a Spanish trader, it does not touch you.
The "guarantee" from the manufacturer, however, is a whole different story, as it is not mandatory (in comparison to the seller warranty). HTC gives this "limited warranty" based on their own regulations, and usually, it lasts only 12 months.
In the sum, you can claim manufacturer warranty according to what you quoted, but in case they "refuse" for whatever reason (maybe they have a distributor in Greece?), your seller is still responsible, please keep this in mind - at least as long as you bought from a EU country seller.

HTC will give 24 months warranty in Europe.
copy/past from their website
-----
This Limited Warranty shall last for twenty-four (24) months from the
date of original purchase for mobile devices, and twelve (12) months
for accessories (whether included in the mobile device sales package
or sold separately) other than the media on which any software is
provided, CD-ROM, memory card (“Warranty Period”).
-----
The warranty thing is a bit dodgy in Europe. Some manufacturers only sell online (Dell) and they used to state the 1 year warranty as you said.
Fortunately and good for the customers there have been several cases where the judge said that manufacturers should not put the stress on stores for paying the legal warranty stuff after the first year of purchase.
That is also the reason why some European car manufacturers promote their 2 year warranty in ads now (funny because they just have to provide that).
Had the same problem with my HD2 (whiter spots on the screen) and it was fixed under warranty(it did take like 2 weeks). However, for such an expensive phone, I'd expect a better treatment.
For example, when my MX Revolution mouse had problems with rubber band on scroll (and the store refused to take it for repair, as they did not think it was a big problem), I contacted the manufacturer. They just asked me to destroy it and send photos. 3 days later I got brand new one shipped by DHL. I wish HTC warranty was like that...

I agree on that one.
They should at least have swap stock and provide well tested refurbished phones if it is clearly a hardware warranty issue.
That would speed up things dramatically.
For the 2X LG phone they have a VIP service in the Benelux. If it is determined that it is a hardware issue over the phone a new one will be delivered to you within 24 hours in the first year.
I concider my HD2 to be non functional since the periode of March the 20 - 25th.
My experience with HTC and their warranty 'service' Dynafix is ... well no words for this.
The device was produced in March 2010 so this one certainly falls under EU warranty laws which are very strict.
If I do not get a decent answer from them this week they will be faced with EU law for sure.
After spending more than 2000€ on their phones in 3 years time it is time to move on to another manufacturer.

Don´t expect much better services... unfortunately, most manufacturers have outsourced their warranty and repair services.
But, all this depends, of course, on where you live. Each country organization seems to be different (I know services in like 12 different countries so far).
Many users make many different experiences, I myself had quite some issues with Samsung (especially poor where I live at the moment), LG (even worse) or SonyEricsson. The only really good service I received was... from Apple (they do have different authorized service companies, one of them is outstandingly well).
With HTC, however, never had any issues at all. I was lucky, the hardware never failed. And for the software, we´re here at xda anyway, no?
I know that they are both liable (in a different manner). Nevertheless the one who will actually do the service will be an authorized service center of HTC. Thus, as far as i am concerned, i know that i can give the phone to seller where he will send it to spain (because, as mentioned, the Greek distributor will not accept it ), and hopefully i will have it back in a month or two from now.
The question still remains ... why shouldnt i get service as per HTC's warranty in greece? Why should i go through all that hassle so as to get my phone hopefully repaired in about 1 month from now?
I really would expect from the manufacturer who has a big share in the European market, to provide the appropriate service for devices that cost more than 500 euros.
its the same kind of service one would expect when buying electronics, cars, appliances from known brands in Europe (to have local service).
I might ask for much, but i quess when i pay premium money for any kind of appliance, electronics, mobile phones, or even cars i expect premium service (especially when the manufacturer guarantees it)
@ioannister
The EU proposal about warranty was done in '99 and all the EU countries should have implemented this in a timespan of 3 years.
Here you can find the webpage.
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:31999L0044:EN:NOT
Read it properly and use it in the best way to gain your right as a consumer.
The store needs to take of warranty even if it is imported, that is not your issue.
If the store still exists and refuses to cooperate I would inform the ministry of economic affairs in Greece since it is their task to comply and to make shops (no matter how big or small) follow those rules.
So you tried to email HTC about this and they told you to send it to Spain?
Did you afterwards contact them and tell them that was not the warranty statement that is on their website?
I've learned numerous things over the years I've dealt with warranty cases and that is to always note down everything like name, time and date, even record it if you can.
Good luck and keep us informed!
@lukesan
thank you for your reply (and the article).
I have all the mails/communication with HTC. I have repeatedly told them that they violate the paragraph at the warranty that states 'if you have purchased the Product in a member state of European Union, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey and HTC originally intended the Product for sale in one of these countries, this Limited Warranty is valid and enforceable in all of these above listed couries .
They have constantly given me answers bypassing the aforementioned paragraph.
I know that this has happened to other consumers as well (at least here in Greece).
I have informed three different consumer organisations here in greece and i am waiting for their feeddback.
i will keep you posted on the 'official' outcome ....
Yes. HTC's service is pathetic
Hi.
I experienced it many times. The service people are so dumb they don't even understand the problem at all. I called them once to solve an issue. I explained the problem .They said "Sir, You need to format your phone". I said "I already did it 10 times". Then he said " You need to do it again".
This is the reason I wanted to buy a Samsung. I am not sure of their service but my friend told me its good. What do you guys think?
Another thing that I came accros checking their warranty conditions and statements (http://service.europe.htc.com/terms&conditions.pdf).
It mainly seems to be focused on the UK and not the complete EU.
I cannot find the conditions in other languages.
It is NOT allowed to let people sign a paper (which includes the paper you have to give to the courier and that you agree with everything ...!) in a language that is natively not spoken in your country.
Seems that HTC violates EU laws with this one as well.
According to the status page mine has been swapped for another HD2.
First of all I do not agree to that if it is a second hand one since mine was in absolute new condition and I told them to only change the mainboard and nothing else.

Beware if you buy parts from Global Direct Parts

Anybody looking to buy parts from Global Direct Parts .com beware of them, it's a scam.
I placed an order for 4 ribbon cables for HD2 phones on a sat. The next monday I wanted to add something the said it was already processed, so I had to place another order and pay shipping.
They FAQ says they can reduce min quantities if I buy at least $ 125 of parts, so I add a LCD and place order. They cancelled since now they want $ 149 min. They also went over and changed their web site, so I cannot prove anything.
After 2 weeks my parts are not here, so I call and a wiseguy said I still have to wait until the next 2 days since it was still processing.
The next day they email me they lost my package.
I reply demanding they ship another with Express delivery to make up for the poor service.
They decline and want to issue a refund, and guess what, price on items has gone up (what a coincidence).
I emailed today asking where is my refund (paid with Paypal) and they stated it takes 2 BUSINESS days to issue it.
I placed a claim on Paypal and they emailed back threaten me to stall refund indefinitely unless I remove the claim.
Sorry for this long rant, but such a poor customer service place shouldn't be allowed to do business. I invite anybody NOT to use this place.
They also falsely claim they have all the parts in USA, while they actually dropship from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Beware guys !!!
Wow. That sux
Sent from my Ally using XDA App
I will agree. Terrible customer service. They say they have new or "a" stock.... the "a" stock are used parts, including damaged and unusable. the others are just in poor shape. then there's the problem with them making you pay to ship their junk back, even after it has been determined to be their error. that's just shady. then the total bs they call customer service... if your lucky to get someone, they are uneducated and clueless about anything going on. good luck trying to get answers or some management to reply to you. i own a repair shop and have spent (wasted) thousands of dollars with these losers.
BEWARE AND AVOID!!!!!

I bought some. Speakers for an evo 4g about 8 months ago and all went well. About a month or 2 later I got emails from them saying that they had a major employee leave and not to trust emails coming from a. Similar company.
I had a great experience with them and the parts were perfect
Hi All,
It seems that this company went through a bit of a struggle at some point. Being a business owner myself I know that dealing with the public is not always easy especially when you have employees that are not the right fit. You can only do your best and learn from your mistakes and successes.
I just purchased tablet frames from them and they were perfect, the customer service was perfect and I am going to their website now to purchase more. I found some really hard to find products in new condition and at a great price. Personally my experience was great and I would highly recommend them. Definitely NOT a scam. They delivered.

I think it is true that maybe a competitor is trying to sabotage them. I saw the same exact review plastered across several different review sites. I just got parts from Global Direct Parts recently. While I can't say the parts are so good, the customer service was very rapid and good. Apparently they sent an aftermarket that was suppose to be OEM. The customer service agent said the Huawei OEM parts are hard to come by and they usually get it out of refurbished phones now and some might have been refurbished before with aftermarket parts that they didn't end up catching. They immediately refunded me saying since the OEM parts is hard to come by, there is a good chance I'll get another aftermarket.
The other 3 parts they sent are good and as described. I would definitely do business with the company again.

G4 (H815) has to be shipped to Taiwan? SERIOUSLY!?

So, I got the bad bootloop issue.
Chatted with LG USA support online who said I had to reach out to LG Taiwan. LG Taiwan responded that I had to ship my H815 to Taiwan to get it warrantied for the bootloop. And because Taiwan doesn't deal with customers outside of Taiwan regularly, I need to pay for shipping, etc.
Are you f'in kidding me!? AWWW HELL NAW. Someone at LG USA is going to get verbally abused tomorrow over the phone, not chat this time. This will not fly. It'll take a week if not more to get to LG Taiwan, followed by a week or so for them to fix/repair most likely, then another week to come back to me. Not to mention, international shipping isn't cheap.
Screw you LG. You're really pushing me towards the Galaxy S7 or a Nexus phone for my next one.
I gave up. I'm still fighting them trying to get it serviced in the US much quicker, but at this point I have ordered a Nexus 6P and will be switching. I'm done with LG. If I get that phone fixed, I'll just resell it on Swappa and be done with it. See ya LG.
LG USA, who I called this morning, said they might be able to have me ship to the UK instead of Taiwan.........like that helps.
Wow. You guys have ****ty customer support in the US. Never had a problem with the G4, but I got the yellow display spot on the G2 twice. First time it took an hour to change the display, second time they just gave me a new phone. Both times dealt with LG Romania. You know, that country most US citizens have no clue about where it is or that it even exists.

It's because I have a Taiwan phone and live in the US. If I had an H810 or H811, I'd be fine and this would have been replaced already probably. It's terrible customer service and has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth in terms of LG. I can't wait for my 6P to arrive...I'm done with LG. I'll deal without removable battery and no SD card I guess...only reason why I really bought the phone to begin with (G4).
So, you have a Taiwan phone and want a USA service.
You've answered yourself.
Their not denying the service, just want you to send your phone to their services .
It's not LG fault that you bough a Taiwan phone instead of a USA version.
Only in Europe there isn't those differences.
We can buy an EUR version and be able to send it to customers service on almost every country in Europe.
Did you buy a grey import? If you did, not sure what you expect?

I am in the same boat with a TWN phone.
I think I'll call them up, and if I can get them to have me send it to the UK instead, I think I'll do that. It should cut down on shipping time, if nothing else.
Then I'll see if SquareTrade will pay for shipping as they promised.
I share your frustration with LG.
Yes, it's a TWN model, and yes, they are within their rights to refer me to the TWN repair center.
OTOH, this is an acknowledged wide-spread manufacturing defect on LG's part.
One would think they'd want to make things right and keep the customers.
And no, there is no way I would buy anything from the likes of tropical_mobile ever again. Their claim of "full warranty" is completely misleading.
You've been given full warranty. It's being fixed isn't it?
If you go cheap and buy a grey import, you have to expect this. LG USA and LG Taiwan are separate entities, which is why they have to have it sent to Taiwan.

Not mine yet. I haven't sent it in yet. My conversation with LG USA ended by them telling me to go call LG TWN on my own. But that was before they acknowledged the problem.
I will try again in the next few days. Even if they simply coordinate things with their Taiwanese brethren on my behalf, it would help. I don't speak Chinese.

It wasn't cheap.
It was the same price as it was here through AT&T. The difference was no carrier lock (no big deal since they would unlock it) and no bloatware or features deleted by AT&T.
I agree that they are within their rights. I argue that given it's a big manufacturing defect, they could have handled it a little more gracefully.

As far as tropical_mobile is concerned, what was misleading was the intimation that I would get full warranty here in the U.S., because that's at whom his listing was targeted.
Had I known it means "full Taiwanese warranty", I would have made a different decision.
BTW, I don't even know if LG TWN will honor it, since tropical_mobile themselves are out of Singapore, if memory serves.
Who knows if that will change anything.
I guess I am about to find out.
Really you should have contacted tropical, not LG.
At least in Australia, the place you buy it from is responsible for arranging repair or replacement.
I had to do this with my grey import bought on ebay when I had the screen coating issue.
I arranged it all through the eBay store. never had to deal with LG, as that's what they do.
If in the US, you need to contact the manufacturer yourself, that's rather bad...
Here you go to the seller within the return period, typically 30 days (tropical had something about that in his listing). After that it's manufacturer's warranty, and you have to deal with them directly. I bought mine back in July.
I think it might be different for carrier-branded models, but I have no experience with repairing those.
As far as tropical is concerned, I've read some very unpleasant things about them here, dealing with stuff that was just bought from them and was defective (or some other problem like that).
Regardless, at this point, if I have to ship stuff overseas, I'd rather ship it directly to LG than go through a possibly shady intermediary. Even if tropical is sparkling clean and agrees to get my phone repaired, going through him would only add to the lag (shipping to him, him to TWN, TWN to him, him to me) and increase the possibility of things getting lost in transit.
Anyone who says, "You bought a TWN phone, what do you expect?" is just being straight up silly. It's an LG product. Period. It shouldn't matter what model you have.
And I'd come to grips with being without a phone for a month if I had to send it to the f'in moon and back...what I CAN NOT STAND FOR is ME having to pay for shipping to them. THAT is asinine. It's not my fault the phone broke. It's LG's poor QC. Why should I be punished for that? Especially with international shipping which isn't necessarily cheap relative to domestic shipping.
LG, be it UK, US, Taiwan, etc....should be paying shipping there AND back.
That's like me saying I bought a Japanese car and have to ship it to Japan to get warranty work done on it when there are plenty of Japanese car dealers in the US who can fix it. I just went through this with my Infiniti. They had to ship a dash harness straight from Japan to Albany, NY to my dealer so they could fix my car. Even if you import a car from Japan (mine was produced in Japan, 100% of it), you get it fixed in the US. To me, it's the same stupid thing and should work EXACTLY the same way.
An LG G4 is an LG G4. In 2016, it should not be a problem for LG Corporate to drop ship a mainboard to the nearest LG repair facility (or any US facility) and have my phone fixed within about a week. Hell, ship it straight to me. I'll fix it myself. I've replaced mainboards on a couple of G3's and the G4 is 99% the same.
EDIT: Further more, if LG sold truly unlocked phones in the US, some of us more geeky/nerdy US customers wouldn't need to resort to buy international phones to use Android the way we want to use Android. That's why I decided on the N6P vs say another phone. I can't wait to have TWRP, etc. again. Makes things SO much easier.

You bought a device online that isn't your countries native device. It's quite simple really.
Grey imports might be cheaper, but everyone (or so i thought) should know that grey imports are not subject to your own countries warranty details. if you want a US warranty, buy a US LG G4.
It's the same with all grey imports, not just LG.
I don't understand what you mean by 'cheaper' or why it even matters...but how is it cheaper? This phone cost me nearly $700...same as an off contract phone purchased in the US. And now, if I don't get it fixed, I can sell it on Craigslist to someone who is willing to deal with the headache for like $100. I basically paid $100/month to use this phone. Insane. I just paid $615 for the Nexus 6P straight from Google....so actually, the G4 was more expensive than a domestic phone.
And it's not about US warranty vs non-US warranty. I'm still within a year, the ONLY warranty that should matter is manufacturer warranty and that should cover 100% of all manufacturer caused defects and shipping to said manufacturer's repair facility of choice and back to the customer. That is it. Regardless of region.
Again, I'm more mad about ME having to pay shipping than the actual wait time. It's the principle of it. And it pisses me off so much to know that the principle is being completely trampled here. Again, to use my analogy, this is akin to Infiniti USA telling me to ship my Infiniti car to Infiniti Japan (corporate) because that's where the car was put together.
EDIT: For S&G's, I just looked up the shipping info.
Cost: $33.95 (one way)
Time: 6-10 days for most large markets
That's 2 weeks one way (business days), probably 2-3 days for it to get processed/fixed, then 2 weeks back. And if they don't pay shipping back and I have to pay shipping both ways, that's $68 bucks out of my pocket for something that should have never happened but thanks to LG's terrible QC...and evidently customer service...a bunch of us TWN users will have to eat the cost on.
How is that remotely fair?
LG US and LG TWN are somewhat different entities.
You can't expect to buy a device from another country (a device that doesn't exist for sale in your country) and then expect LG US to fix an item they don't even sell.
Using your car analogy, it's like buying a car that is only sold in Canada (unrealistic but easy example), then expecting a US dealer to have spare parts and fix it for you.
This is absolutely common with the vast majority of electronics. I had no idea people were not aware of this?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are also customs fees which need to be paid on the phone both inbound and outbound. My co-worker sent his G4 to Taiwan for the bootloop problem. He paid for express shipping only to have the phone caught up in customs in Taiwan. After about a week, he finally got it released, but had to pay fees. He told me the overall cost with shipping and customs fees was $180. I have the same phone. No bootloop yet, but if it happens, I don't think I want to invest that additional amount of money to get a fix. Bought the phone for the same reason others did: I wanted a phone without carrier bloat.

But....but...the car analogy works lol. My dealer didn't have the parts needed to fix my car (built in Japan)...so what happened? They called up Japan and were like, "Yo, homeslice. Ilya over here needs a dash harness. Ya got one? Ya do? Cool, send it over. We'll send you some cash money later. Holla!" That's basically what happened. Had to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive but once it did, my US dealer fixed my Japanese car. I guess I just don't understand WHY LG doesn't operate the same way. Maybe I have different business ethics than the honcho's at LG...*shrug*

Ahh, forgot about customs. F that then. I'll just list the phone for sale as broken needing a new board.
On the flip side, anyone know where I can get my hands on an H815 board? I'd honestly rather pay $100 and do it myself because it would take less time and be less of a headache. I've been trying to find an H815 or even an H810 (AT&T) on Ebay that is shattered or something for around $100 but even the ones with broken screens are going for $200. I just need a board and I can get this phone back to working condition in 10 minutes.
Only one I've been able to find is this, which is way too much money: http://rounded.com/lg-g4-h815-mainboard.html?sl=en

Fair enough you don't agree. But it's just how it works with electronic devices, not just phones. Always has been that way.
I just don't understand you guys.
If I bought an Taiwan or USA variant LG would simply deny the warranty because it's not from Europe.
If the store where you guys bought the phone doesn't want to take responsibility for that its their fault, not LG.
Again, LG isn't denying the repair, so you should be upset with the seller and not the company.
Here on Europe we just contact the seller (online shop) and they arrange everything,or if it's bough on a big Comercial shop we just take there and they arrange everything, or simply we go directly to customer support.
The analogy of cars it's good but these are very different things and can't be compared.
Just choose better the stores you buy from.

FYI, the seller I bought it from did say they'd accept it for a repair, but they are also in Taiwan.
You're completely not reading what I'm saying and why I think it's wrong to do business that way that LG is doing business. It's okay, we can agree to disagree.

Purchase 6P from BestBuy(On Discount) VS Google(For customer service and higher cost)

Looking to purchase a Nexus 6P but I am very hesitant right now. Probably should have picked it up when it was on sale a few weeks ago but kept going back and forth due to price and couldn’t make up my mind if the 6p is worth switching to from a Note 4. Have a Note 4 and OnePlus so I have some experience using both stock Android and TouchWiz. I can admit stock is somewhat smoother than toucwiz but hated the OnePlus due to lag after taking a picture. It was infuriating. So I came back to my Note 4. I do plan to pick up the Note 6 if sd card is brought back as i like to go back and forth between stock and other android variants. So that’s why I couldn’t make up my mind if the 6p is worth getting. Anyway I digress. My main concern is how Huawei is in reference to warranty and device repair. A few of my friends who bought the device said they did so from google so they won’t have to deal with Huawei in terms of warranty. I also usually buy devices secondhand on Swappa or Ebay as you can get some pretty good deals. However, I think I want to go new this time in case I have any issues. I have a BestBuy 10% coupon so I could get the 64GB from them and pay about $530 total after taxes. Or If I buy it from the google store it will be about $589. Do you guys think the Google customer service is worth the extra cost and not having to deal with Huawei? Is Huawei as bad as in thinking in terms of repairs/customer service? Also is the extended warranty from nexus protect or Square Trade worth it as I know some people did have to sometimes swap a few phones before they got a good one.
Just a warning, you'll want to check that your coupon is usable on phones. Best Buy's 10% off "anything" coupons come in a few different versions, and at least one isn't valid got things like laptops, phone, game consoles etc.
Thanks

ok will do so. I'm starting to read abut the Nexus 6P Bending issue and becoming even more hesitant. Decisions , Decisions.
In regards to bending I wouldn't worry too much. Any metal body phone off this size has some risk of bending, but as long as you take reasonable care of it and keep it in a case it will most likely be a non-issue.
With a solid case, the risk of bending is very greatly reduced. Like mentioned above, check the coupon, Best Buy can be a bit tricky with wording.
I love Google's customer support, but, once my order completed properly (it did not clear due to daily limits the first time, hence needing to contact Google), I have had no need to contact them. Anyways, Google often tells people to contact Huawei with device issues, so you may end up discussing a problem with Huawei anyways. Huawei does offer a free screen repair upon contacting them, too, in many cases (from what I hear).
For protection & peaceofmind use Speck Candyshell case...ftw

Not if you get the Nexus Protect program on it. I ordered my 6P from Amazon at first, to get a little better price. But then started reading about all the horrible customer service instances with contacting Huawei directly. So I ordered one directly from Google with Nexus Protect, for peace of mind. Returned the Amazon one unopened. This way I always deal with Google, who seem quick to respond and help (mostly by exchanging the phone, it seems), and should never have to deal with Huawei.
If Huawei ever hopes to do well outside of China, they had better do something about their customer service, IMO. Maybe what we read here about them passes for good service in China, but does not stack up well at all compared to the other flag ship smartphone brands.
If you do get it from Best Buy, you will be able to get Geek Squad Protection on it for 7.99 a month plus a $150 deducible. It covers literally anything that could happen to the device. As long as you have a device to bring it, they will give you one.

Samsung USA Will Not Repair Cracked Screen if International Variant (G935F)

I have an international G935F phone that I use on Straight Talk (AT&T). I took it to the Samsung USA service center to get the screen replaced and they said they don't touch international phones because of different internals/parts. I also called the 800 number and they told me the same thing. Is this accurate? I know US and international use different processors (Exynos and Snapdragon) but I would think screen replacement would be pretty much the same with the same parts.
Policy is policy I guess.

Yep. Take it to a 3rd party repair shop and expect to pay $350 to have it fixed. Samsung won't touch it. Already went through this. Not fun.

I have purchased 2 S7 Edge International versions from Amazon - fulfilled by amazon, but 3rd party sellers, one a Dual Sim, and one single SIM. The product listing was somewhat vague, just listing International Warranty, may not be covered in the USA. So, I contacted the seller through Amazon support, and the response was, The warranty is International, HOWEVER, you'l have to send back the phone to Samsung the phone originally came from!!!. I ran Samsung info to find one is a Middle Eastern version with a model code ending in EG (Egypt), and the other is all in Chinese, even the default language in case of a hard reset is chinese (or Korean, or or or).
I've sort of accepted that there is no warranty, and hope no product fault happens while I have the phone. Here is the email from the seller:

Yeah we take the risk by buying these. I wouldn't even bother trying to deal with the logistics of sending these back to their origin for service. A local 3rd party repair shop will gladly take your money. Just make sure you choose one known for high quality work. My screen looks like new again after having been replaced. But again, very expensive exercise.

When I broke my S6 Edge screen, I sent it in for repair. When it came back, I found that in the process they had broken the speakerphone function, so I sent it back again, and this time was sent a new/refurbished device.
My point is that Samsung USA might not want to get involved with an international device, because they are aren't really set up to replace it if something goes wrong.
Just a thought, nothing more!

Dave

Don't know about the S7, but I recall that for one of my prior phones (The S3, maybe) there were enough differences in the internal layout that while the screen was functionally identical, the ribbon connector mounting location was different, and the parts weren't interchangeable for that reason.

To be honest, whatever the internals may be, all the versions are made, guaranteed, and endorsed by samsung - they should honour "international" warranty to the very common and basic definition of the word. Even Blackberry has set-up dedicated phone and warrnaty lines for the Priv. I have had a iphone bought in the UK off a craigslist equivalent website replaced without question at an apple store in NYC. The problem was real, I wasn't the original buyer, the "genius" wasn't bothered, was very apologetic that they didn't have the UK version in-store, but that they would have it in 2 days - left with a new phone for a 8 months old 2nd hand used phone. I'm no apple fan at all, but their customer support is beyond excellent. I know this is all factored in the price apple charges, but the S7 is no cheapie either.
Bottom line, it is pretty poor of Samsung to offer such a restrictive warranty.
Regards.

That is not the case with this phone.
This is an older post but I still wanted to respond to it. Today I experienced the same issue. The front and back screens are broken and my S7 edge is stuck in boot loop mode but after I pitched a fit over here with Samsung USA, they agreed to purge and force the IMEI number to be accepted by their system. They are to contact me in 24 - 72 hours once the IMEI number has been registered. I threatened with returning all of their phones to them and posting negative feedback on their facebook page. Within minutes they offered the above solution.
i have a s7 edge dual sim g935fd the sim lot may need to be replaced. my question is can i replace it whith a dual sim slot reader from a us version or not ?
