I'm not sure why you're "bumping" a thread that right now has no relevance.
There's no device yet, which makes this thread a bit premature:silly:

Best kernel for battery life?

Anyone can help me with experiences with a kernel that has great battery life? I'm travelling to NYC (8 hours flight) so I would love to get the best out of the battery of my N7.
I would try 1 by 1 but my travel is tomorrow.. So yeah

I use the Faux Ultimate Kernel, and I simply under clock it when I want more battery life. I've managed to get almost a week out of it with moderate use, while being under clocked.

There is no "best" kernel or rom, They're opinions and subjective as it depends on your apps, usage and settings which is why these type of "best" or "fave" topics are not allowed on XDA.

Maybe I got the title wrong. I just would like to hear experiences on battery life with kernels. That's it. I don't have time to try kernels at the moment :/
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you don't have time to experiment, then pick and Kernel which supports under clocking and under clock it for more battery life. That should help a little bit.
But like TheATHEiST said, there is no best, only preference.

True... but I don't think the OP was looking for 'best'... just garnering opinion on 'optimum'...(which I suppose might be regarded as semantic hair splitting; and so perhaps this should have been posted in 'General' instead of 'Q & A').
And in any case, if such threads aren't allowed, then this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151963 is in serious breach of the rules.
----
For what it's worth, franco kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823671) offers pretty good battery life... in my experience.
Rgrds,
Ged.
i'd go with franco or m kernel

Ive had good battery life on intersect raven, m-kernel and motley. you can also try setting the max active cores of these kernels to 2, with minimal loss to performance (it's a bit sluggish for multitasking though)

Ok Folks, you all know the rules about Best/Favorite Roms and Kernels and such. Not allowed due to flame wars sometimes starting.
Roms and Kernels are personal opinions, and what works best on 1 device, may behave differently on another. This is the way it is. The best method, is to read the kernel threads, and try a couple different ones.
The following thread, is the only OFFICIAL thread sanctioned by the Moderators. Please post your questions there, so that we may keep the forum cleaner for better searches.

Reflashing stock improves battery life?

I can't find the original thread in regards to this (I'm assuming there is one, otherwise I cannot recall where I read this). But it was advised by some fellow Nexus 4 owners that flashing stock out of the box (not reformatting, apparently, because that doesn't produce the same results) had the potential to dramatically increase battery life. I get fairly good battery life on this phone (roughly 4-4.5 hours screen-on time), but I'm noticing some people getting 5.5+ hours on stock. I have EXCELLENT HSPA+ signal all day (San Diego), and not to mention I'm on a good WiFi connection at least 75% of the day. Have any of you tried this method and had good experiences with it? Also, if you guys have the thread handy where it was discussed, I'd love to sift through it. Don't know why I can't find it anywhere.

anytime! can't wait to get my n4 later on this week. i'm coming from a thunderbolt (which i've had since launch). it's gonna be sweet, sweet nirvana.
thanks for the tip... besides i was looking for the post to reflash stock rim again!

Z3+ battery life is atrocious!

For the first time in years with being with a Xperia Z phone, I have run out of battery before the day was over.
I'm getting between 2.5 to 3.5 SOT, and yesterday it just wasn't enough. With the Z3 (no plus) I got 4 to 5, sometimes even 6 (though I never quite knew why it would differ so much with similar use).
Sony needs to sort this out, and fast, or the Z5 will not be for me (I've been with the Z series since day 1). Oh, and yes, I'd still be on the Z3 had I not dropped it once too many.
This is a Google issue. See battery thread.

Then you're doing something wrong. I easily get a SoT of 4 hours and sometimes 6 to 7 hours.
Install the RAM cleaner
I faced this issue before. When I look deep into the process and so on, I found that the "wechat" and "facebook" is consuming a big piece of the resources. So, I deleted it and the battery life seems like last a bit longer than usual.

Facebook definitely is having problems here too, sometimes it bursts up in battery usage and has around 20% when the day is finished which is unacceptable
I suggest you to use Snapdragon battery guru to control how much background apps connect to the internet.. So you can control facebook and others...

I just started University again after a summerbreak so its been lots of 3g/4g and one sentence sums everything up.
The mobile radio bug is the worst thing in Lollipop without any question. Its just horrible how Google has handled this.
Its not acceptable for Facebook and Chrome to eat up 50% combined out of all the battery drain

Best rom for most sot?

For the moment I run pure nexus with full satisfaction, I get a screen on time of 5 hours, which is great but longer is always better.
Is there a rom with very good battery control, kernel tweaked and all?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
No
There's no such thing. What you're asking is a subjective question, it depends on the user. The only way to find out which is best for you is through your own testing.
If I might add, attaining the best SOT is mostly about what you're willing to sacrifice.. performance, brightness, connectivity, etc.
Hence, a lot of this will be relative to how you use your device as Heisenberg already stated.

Thanks mate, been a mod for a little over a year now. Good to see you around these parts
Everyone's milage varies. I'm on PN right now and will hit 5hrs sot today. Been off the charger for over 24 hrs too. That is something that people fail to mention sometime. On a fresh charge and constant use I'm sure I could hit between 6 or 7 sot. I just don't have that much to look at haha. PN is a good stable place to be to get great battery life and great performance. I often find myself looking for that ultimate set up and it becomes hard to judge because I use my phone differently everyday. Hope this helps

these kind of questions still exist.. XD well that is XDA for you!
to the OP's question, mate if i were you i would just try out a couple of different roms to test out the battery life.
(sorry no n6p user here, but i think you should give Roms a try that come with cmte, roms that come cm source might give you abit more battery life.) 5 hours sot is already very good , good luck!

Battery life on Android P

I think you guys will be very happy with the battery life on Android P (FYI this is with Greenify installed and basic optimizations)
Let me know if you have any questions about battery life on Android P
Obviously apps stats at the bottom are messed up, considering they removed app stats and it is enabled as an experimental feature
I'm still getting the best battery life I've ever gotten from any phone on Oreo, so any improvements are all the better.
Meh...I'll stick to "O" ????

Your device must be rooted.
I don't see how that is possible.
Also what apps did you use during your usage. Better to show that with battery stats

Yep, it's rooted. Just goes to show how deceiving SOT can be, and why you can't compare your stats to anyone else. My usage is based mostly on reading and posting on XDA, 90% on wifi, some phone calls, texts, YouTube, and chrome. Things change a lot for me when Summer comes with farm work and the device moving a lot. :good:

I like my devices stock. I had note 8 for a day or two but hated the battery life so instead got a pixel 2 XL. I get pretty good battery life but nothing like yours. I'm happy with 7hrs SOT
I have a Pixel 2, but I go back and forth between both forums since there's so much commonality.
I have excellent battery life on P, better than 8.1 with the same usage pattern. Like @Badger50 says you can't truly compare from person to person, only from release to release. I have 2 Gmail accounts syncing, 1 Exchange account on Nine, most of my communication is through Facebook Messenger, but I also make video calls through Duo, and I use GPS (Waze, Runtastic, etc) heavily. Good battery life for me would be awful for Badger, but my battery life compared to 8.1 is better.
looks like normal usage to me
I get 7hrs SOT, decent I guess

I hope Android P actually does help with battery life as it would be nice to get more screen on time
