Some rumor said the wireless charging is not qi, but something else, long distance wireless charging, it should be cool if this is true.

Hmmm.... intersting! Agree, seems good to me as well.

Can't wait

sad about the possibility to have 2GB ram, 3GB better. all other leaked specs are beautiful.
1080p is enough, I want powerful chip (808) with not extreme high resolution.
Fingers crossed.

I've already bought my Ringke Fusion case like in my old Nexus 5

Nexus 5x, I'm waiting for you!
My Nexus 6 has passed away, the wifi and bluetooth connections cannot be enabled, the nexus 5x will be my next device, incredible disappointment with motorola

I personally cannot wait, right now I'm going all out on the pre-order for this device, but who knows, I might like the 6P better when they announce it and go for that one. Either way, I'm grabbing a new Nexus device this year. It'll be my legit first nexus device (I say that because I just got a temporary Nexus 6 to replace my HTC One M9 for a month because of lack of development).
Take my money already, Google!

Leaked info says that we will have the same camera sensor as huauei p8 (I think), but will it have OIS too? If it has OIS it would be awesome!

cant wait for this myself.. im getting this phone if i get good reviews.. gonna be a birthday gift to myself...

maybe the 32GB version will have 3GB of RAM

the 16GB version with 2GB RAM should be priced between $300-$325 because it'll essentially be the same phone as the Nexus 5 2013, except with a SD 808 and a slightly bigger screen. however, if this base model is around $400, i don't see many people buying it.
$400 would be fine for the 32GB version, but only if it comes with 3GB RAM.

price leak says $380 for the 16GB version, which is simply too expensive for what you're getting IMO. only 2GB RAM, small battery, and no SD card of course. just don't know about their pricing strategy here..

OK all conversation has been moved to one thread.

Might as well ask now..Will you sell your Nexus One for a Nexus S?

I know I know...I CANT be the only one debating it. But now that its officially out, I must admit that despite how much I HATE the Samsung Galaxy phones, this one looks pretty tight. Hardware wise I know Samsung are great. But I have 2 friends with Galaxy phones who DESPISE them and have even offered to trade them for a Nexus One straight up.
I know dual core phones will be out very soon, but what Im actually only interested in owning Googles "baby" when it comes to support and updates.
So here it is....
Are you going to sell your Nexus One for a Nexus S?
I LOVE my Nexus One..LOVE IT...Im a bit stuck on this one.
Thoughts?
No, I found it too difficult to get a decent price for my Nexus
IF there is an AT&T version then I will get one. My Nexus One has a broken screen and I'm in desperate need of a new phone.
Nope. While it has some advantages over the N1, they are not major enough for me to change. With dual core around the corner, I think I'll pass on the S and wait it out till Q1.

Yep. Only if I can get 3G on AT&T.
I put mine up for sale, and just took it down. I'm gonna wait for something better. When N1 was released, desire came out. I'm gonna hope that when Nexus S comes out, HTC will release something the same, but hopefully more features like an SD slot. Besides... Phone isn't even a year old yet!

+1
Most I could get responses for on Craigslist was a measly $350...
Do I really want to take a $225 loss ($575 original N1 price / tax minus $350 Craigslist sale price) just so that I could upgrade to a SuperAmoled screen and front facing camera? Nope
Im staying with the nexus one...the screen res. is higher on the nexus one then nexus s
My Nexus one has been great for me but I just love shiny new tech toys and the Nexus S kinda looks bad ass and ninja stealthy in all black so yes I'm going to get it (though spec wise it's nothing to shout about). Will still keep my nexus one though for hacking with android.
I'm getting one.
It is not looking good, is is crippled from stock Galaxy S:
- No MicroSD slot, only 16GB onboard
- No 720p video recording (!?!?! will this come in Honeycomb or something)
- Bluetooth 2.1 instead of 3.0
- 1mm thicker than Galaxy S
Things it has that Galaxy S doesn't have
- Gingerbread (Galaxy will get 2.3 soon hopefully that a similar phone has it)
- LED Flash (Couldn't care less)
- NFC (By the time this is mainstream i will probably be through to a new phone anyway)
So looks like Galaxy S is a better buy

You're aware Samsung makes the Nexus S, right?
I plan to sell my Nexus One. Its in great condition T-Mobile model with 16GB SD card. If anyone is interested let me know .
I'm going to pass. I'm happy with my AT&T/Rogers Nexus One. I hear it's quite rare now!
The plastic Nexus S is a dealbreaker. The thing looks too plastic-y for my tastes. It's all about teflon / brushed metal!
I'm passing too! I <3 my N1. The new S isn't standing out at all for me. Sure, 2.3 stock but ill get 2.3 once Cyanogen (my fav mod) releases their version in a month or so. I also love how i can upgrade to up to 32gb sd card which is awesome.
He** NO, after samsung lied about the updates to the Behold II they will never have me as a customer again, Nexus One forever! or at least till there is a Dual Core HTC.
dual core phones coming in future with the tegra 2 and the orion chips, not to mention a possibly newer google phone with honeycomb which might also have dual core.
LG and Samsung are also developing new screens which they will implement in the near future and not to mention there isnt too much that the nexus offers. Most people will only buy it cos it comes with vanilla android and will get faster updates. It also lacks 4g which i suspect will become norm for phones in 2011 with more networks using it.
Was hoping for a higher res camera and screen and by the looks of it this phone also misses out on features already available on many other phones like Wifi direct, DLNA, HDMI, MicroSD slot Bluetooth 3.0 etc. The NFC is basically future proofing your phone as not many things currently support it, its like having a 3D TV with hardly any 3D content. Much better off waiting for the next flagship phone from Samsung and since the Nexus is a rebranded galaxy s then we porting over the new updates the Nexus recieves wont take too long i think
Nope. I have a G2 and an N1.... love the N1 too much plus the Nexus S doesn't even have HSPA+ on it....
No, I'm selling my Vibrant that I got for free.
I keeping my Nexus.
Depends. If Samsung releases a car dock and desktop dock similar to the N1's, then I'll consider selling my N1. Otherwise, I'll keep the N1 for roadtrip use and use it as a bedside tablet and alarm clock.

Torn between this and the Nexus!

I know I can't be the only one out there. I'm just really unsure about the Note's size... I'm a tall guy, with big hands, but its just seems that bit too big?
Mind you, I've been using my Tab 7.0 as a phone for a good 3 weeks!
Is it really usable with one hand? By that I mean, can I fire off a quick text with one hand? If its a yes, I'll order it now!
Thanks for anything useful you have to say!
I'm in the same situation like you!
I'm currently with AT&T at the moment, wondering if I should sell my iPhone 4S (only reason I got it was because of its high resale value) to buy a Note to use, or wait until the Nexus comes to Verizon and sell my iPhone and use that money for the Nexus.
I really like the size of the Note and would love to use it during school, but I kind of want to see how the Nexus looks in real life first before making my decision.
I would also rather be on Verizon's network to be honest, with it's double data promotion helping its case even more.
Im thinking I may just go for the nexus now, I've not had a pure android yet (from stock) and it looks fluid as anything! IMO Touchwiz slows down Android (I own both the Tab and original Galaxy S).
Still can't seem to click buy on either though!
Let me just say that I had the same concerns, so much so that I was determined to wait until I played with the Note before ordering it. I went ahead and took the chance and I am VERY pleased. The phone does not feel nearly as big as you might thing. I think it is very comfortable to use, fits in all my pockets, and is an absolute pleasure to have. I guarantee you will not regret buying the Note. Just read the other reviews.

I'm not worried about pockets, my 7.0 tab fits in my pockets! I just thought.... If I buy this I can sell my Tab and put that towards this, as it'll replace it anyway!
I'll sell my tab on eBay me thinks!
EDIT: Tab in the marketplace, once thats sold, I will be buying note. Just found out that Nexus uses a poor GPU. I know its twice the speed of Galaxy S, but I'd rather have samsungs latest chip!
I just ordered a white Note from eBay. The way I look at it, an Aosp ICS rom will come eventually. Then you have the option be it Aosp, MIUI, or Touchwiz. And if one doesn't come fast enough, use the Note then sell it when the Nexus is available to you. I have an HTC right now and I switch between Aosp and Sense and its nice to have the choice.

Here are a couple of Nexus deal breakers for me.
Only 16GB of storage, on my 16GB Note only 11GB is usable, the rest are reserved for OS and apps. This limit my music files to 128 kbps and with 1GB of storage left. Also the 32GB Nexus is not available yet, and I'm not sure I want to pay premium price for a 16GB upgrade when 32GB micro sd card are around £40.
The 16:9 screen makes the phone easier to hold but awkward when browsing the web in portrait mode.
Also the processor and graphic chip are weaker than the Note, so not the best phone out there for future proof.
The only selling point of Nexus compared to the Note is ICS, which will be on the Note either from Samsung or developers. After almost two weeks of using the Note, I found the performance very smooth, so not in a hurry to upgrade to ICS.
Unless you really want an ICS device, I'd get the Note. I'm sure you will happier with the Note few months down the line when both devices have ICS.
P.S. Typing with one hand is awkward at best, and you are risking drop the phone while doing it.

You couldn't have summed it up any better! I'll probably order of Amazon.de tomorrow morn.
Portability
This device is more portable than a tab.
Think of it not as a phone, or a tab, but an XDA(convergent digital assistant)
I would not even consider a tab (or a laptop).
I have a workstation, and an XDA.
Have so for nearly 10 years.
The note is particularly portable and useful.

You are welcome, Amazon.de normally ship the phone out the next working day and it will take two more days for delivery via CityLink.
Also CityLink web tracking might tell you the phone will arrive the next working day after Amazon has shipped the Note. Don't belive them and don't panic when the tracking don't get updated for the 1st 24hrs.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been mulling over this decision for about 2 weeks at least
Here's my pros and cons, and these are too me, a US AT&T user still in contract:
Note Pros:
- Screen
- CPU
- Battery
- Staying with AT&T
Cons:
- Importing and Warranty
- No ICS yet. This is big as it looks like exchange support is greatly improved there, and I'd like to ditch Touchdown
I don't consider the stylus much of a pro personally - I don't think I'll use it
Nexus Pros:
- Vanilla ICS
- NFC
- LTE sim swap with my Xoom (this is kinda minor, as WiFi hotspot is basically the same except that I can conserve my phone's battery if I were to go on a road trip)
- Better dev and app support because it will be more popular
Nexus Cons:
- very worried about battery life with LTE. I'd hope to go data only too, so I'd have GooVe IP signed in all the time.
- smaller screen, though it might be OK as I've had a Dell Streak and so many apps don't deal with gigantic screens very well.
- maybe slightly worse camera from my investigations
I probably should just buy the Note and be done with it, but I want to see what Verizon's off contract price is. if it's $600 that's hard to then justify getting a Note for around $750 I think. $650-700 will be a note autobuy I think... then again my ETF would be around $150, but going data only will save in the long run, but not sure if I can reliably recieve calls on GrooVe IP... meh... decisions.
There IS a simple solution........... JUST GET BOTH !!!
It is what I am doing....... can't help myself
Nothing touches Galaxy Note on the market IMO. Engadget just did a hands-on test of the Galaxy Nexus and here's something they mention in their article:
It's still too early to comment on battery life, but so far we're not seeing any issues. While the Nexus feels quite snappy it isn't as mind bendingly fast as some Gingerbread devices (the Galaxy Note comes to mind)

The Note is a superior platform--bigger display, S-pen functionality, faster CPU, faster GPU. Why would anyone outside a developer want a Nexus? ICS is coming to our phone so there's no advantage there. People argue Touchwiz adds a layer of lag and I disagree, my phone with 2.3.6 gingerbread is lightning fast and I never see any lag.
where can I get the 2.3.6 version? I tried to update my phone but it said my phone was all updated.

Agree with everything you said. I've been doing my research on both since I had been going back and forth on what phone I really wanted and even went with just the AT&T GS2 for a few days but in the end both the GS2 and Nexus both are inferior devices to what the Note offers and outside of getting ICS early I can't see any reason to buy the Nexus unless you just need a smaller phone. I'd rather wait and get ICS shortly down the road than to get it a few weeks earlier on lesser hardware.

Rumoured Priv Specifications

Some rumours from here,
http://www.smartphoneandprice.com/b...-android-smartphone-full-specs-and-price.html
Can't comment on the accuracy though.
5.4" QHD Display, 2560x1440
18MP Rear facing camera
Snapdragon 808 CPU
3GB RAM
32GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
3560mAh battery
£250/$350/€320
If true, at that price I'm hugely tempted to move from my Xperia Z2.
While the specs are pretty decent, one of the other rumors Ive heard is that its coming with Lollipop. If I have a phone coming out in the next month or two, I want it to have Marshmallow or an absolute guaranteed timeframe of being upgraded. Granted, I am big on running ROM's but will the bootloader be unlocked to do so? And if so, how many developers will really jump on this phone to work on it?
From what I hear it ships with 5.1.1.
Marshmallow isn't even out yet is it? And is likely to be buggy are launch anyway. I doubt it'll be stable until towards the end of Q1 2016 so I don't think I'd want it shipping on a phone out this year.
That price looks way too low, and the battery rumors have been all over the place. Remember, that curved screens isn't cheap.
There is no chance of it being £250 - absolutely none. If you have followed BBRY as long as I have - they still think they can charge premium prices (partly why their devices bomb) and even after shedding a lot of staff their cost base would not support that - think at least £400.

Yep, I agree. £400-£450 band is really buyable.
We don't know how BB places this phone on the market. Premium Business Device or Hi-End Consumer Phone ? Neither both, It won't be cheeper than S6 or Note 5 because build quality looks good and and additional hardware always cost more.

assuming that's about $500, that's about what I was thinking. It will be flagship priced, on the lower end, so $499 sounds like a sweet spot for Premium device that is still affordable. BB's most expensive phone is the Silver Passport, and that's $550, so I don't see it exceeding $599 to remain competitive. I saw a "leak" online somewhere from a Toronto channel that claims it will be 800 CAD, which is roughly $606.

At that kind of price Blackberry are pricing themselves out of the market really. If they want to shift units they're going to have to keep the price low when going up against other Android handsets.

I had a series of BB for 10 years. I miss the keyboard. I will have to try one of these and if they are close to the discussed price range will buy one. It looks like a large phone, however.
Sooo new spec sheets list the front cam as only 2 MP?? Is this an error or was the 5 MP rumor too good to be true? Not a deal breaker, but man, will THAT be disappointing. Awesome 18 MP Schneider Kreuznach lens on the back and... a camera from like 2005 on the front.
It's officially time, guys! Pre orders are LIVE!

$699 for the U.S. version. The front cam is 2 MP, but has a f/2.9" aperture with 1.75 micron pixels. I'm no camera buff, but that sounds good? Also, NFC confirmed, Fast charging confirmed, wireless charging confirmed... No compromises aside from the battery being non removable. Releases November 6. Still no word on whether the carriers will sell them directly.
I have no idea why they would remove wireless charging on all the models except for the US, as the specs stand. They did spend the money to test them in the lab, then last minute pull it all out?

I think they're dumping the phone, there's no such thing as a price mistake when the price is still roughly close minus all the incentives some companies like newegg were giving away.
Chinese companies notorious for getting rid of stock if problems happen. Because it cost more money for them to fix or support it, they rather just give cut their losses early.

Newegg was selling it for $399 + free headphones worth $99. Amazon does mark down deals to try to match those deals, I've seen it before So whether or not it's a price mistake, they're not giving it away for free.
Apparently it was just a price mistake. Amazon is honoring the price, but only one unit per person.

Why would you think THAT? Come on. Except for lack of Qi wireless charging* it's the Galaxy S7 Edge killer -- or at least very serious competitor -- and at half the price of that Samsung phone.
That price was either an Amazon bot mistake or possible scam seller, and the situation was quickly corrected.
---
* ZTE, if you had Qi wireless charging, I would be buying at least two of these phones. Put backlighting on your capacitive buttons and I would definitely be buying three.
I own three Moto XT1225 (basically the 5.2" version of the 2014 Moto Nexus 6 WHALE) -- with 1440p AMOLED, Qi wireless charging, 64GB internal storage, 3GB RAM, 3900 mAh battery, backlit capacitive buttons...
Google screwed up with the size of the Nexus 6, but the hardware specs were fantastic. Motorola then released a smaller version under the "Quark" code name and sold around the world: XT1225, XT1254, XT1250. Larger battery than the Nexus 6, but for some reason Motorola dropped the rear camera OIS and stereo speakers. But still FANTASTIC specs. 95% of Moto Nexus 6 in a reasonable size.
I bought three of the XT1225, for me, my wife, and a backup. LTE bands 2,3,4,5,7,17. Perfect AT&T phone, even if I had to import them from other countries.
This ZTE AXON 7 would be the logical successor with 5.5" 1440p AMOLED, 64 GB internal storage + microSD card expansion... Plus MORE RAM, stereo speakers, rear camera OIS.
If only it had Qi wireless charging and BACKLIT capacitive buttons, it would be absolutely perfect.

There's several reason's I'm thinking of switching....But I'm seriously considering it?!?!
Am I crazy?

Dude it's barely any different. Unless you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket, it's a stupid move.
I'll never understand people who pay an absurd amount per month on a phone plan when you could just outright buy a phone and it pays for itself in less than six months by paying for a reasonable plan. I pay $30 a month. I have 5gb of 4gLTE data.

I just looked at that link, and discovered that the s8 only has quick charge 2.0 and not 3.0. And the s8 has a worse battery so if you don't go with the larger one you'll have worse battery life.

What?! Surely that must be a typo? Why would it only have QC 2.0?
Benefits I can see
-Snapdragon 835 vs 820
-Newer Adreno for GPU
-Bluetooth 5.0 vs 4.2
-Slightly more pixels.
That's about it.

Plus your losing speakers and a fully paid off phone.
Edit: And custom rom support (that isn't stock-based) so you're stuck with "samsung experience"
Edit 2: wait it's going to be at&t so no custom roms at all AND you pay double the money

I pay $50 a month for unlimited 4G LTE data. I average anywhere between 25-30GB of data usage every month.

I have to agree with TPMJB, I think it would be a bad move. There was a nice offer to get a S8 on Amazon, but the differences are against the S8. The A7 has such a greater sound, greater battery, already a great screen, its CPU and GPU are more than enough for any game (but I don't play), 4GB RAM is also more than enough, ...
Why spending more to get less or something that's not yet needed?

ZTE AXON 8 will be released in 2-3 months and will address any Snapdragon gap, plus keep lower price and stereo speakers.
Plus with a paid off phone you can go pre-paid on major carriers. I pay $38.25 total monthly with no taxes/fees on AT&T (GoPhone, AT&T's in-house prepaid brand) for 6GB high speed data/unlimited calls/unlimited texts.
You can tell that's "pure" AT&T by the low ping speeds. MVNOs have higher ping speeds (higher lag).
But I bring my own phone, so I can get the pre-paid prices. I will never be "post paid" customer" where they rip you off.
I also make sure any phone I own can be rooted and have custom ROMs.
________
The only thing the S8 has the ZTE Axon 7 lacks is the Qi wireless charging. Other than that, the 1-year old ZTE Axon 7 still beats the Samsung Galaxy 8 in every significant way (award winning DAC, front facing stereo speakers), etc.
If I were to get an S8, I would make sure it was the Exynos variant that could be rooted, surely NOT the AT&T branded model!

but is there really a snapdragon gap? I mean, is our snappy already a has been? Serious question, not trying to start a flame war or anything

I said "any" gap. I was just addressing the points listed. Where the Snapdragon 835 is different is allowing much faster carrier speeds (eventually), like 1GB LTE. Not that you'll see that any time soon. So, there's no rush to buy Snapdragon 835 phones until your carriers can deliver the speeds... But yes, the Snapdragon 835 and comparable (like Exynos) are an evolutionary step forward.
My point was, don't jump for the Galaxy S8 when there's LOTS more phones coming out in the next few months that will also have Snapdragon 835 and will be better than the S8, and probably less expensive. Including, but not least the ZTE Axon 8.
I still have a 2014 Snapdragon 805 phone. I'm not buying another phone until a manufacturer released a phone that has all the features I want, or very close to it. The ZTE Axon 7 came very close -- only the lack of Qi wireless charging kept me from buying it.

I was on the same boat until I had it physically on my and hand, and the design is sexy af, but honestly, that's all. I have always been away from Samsung devices because I hate capacitive buttons, and when Huawei (favorite brand) started to put them, I started to look for something else, and Samsung made the contrary move by remove them and improve the design.
Screen is more less the same, and you have to know that battery is noticeable worse when using the device in full resolution, because they come with FHD as default and most of the tests about battery were done with this resolution.
Speaker is average, but is mono. Is a big dealbreaker for me, because no point in having that nice display when you have a mono speaker, is just ruins the multimedia experience.
And the final thing for me to make me pass for the S8 was the fingerprint scanner, next to the camera is the most retarded place to put it, so pretty much is unusable for me.
Price is not important for me, fortunately I can buy any device I want, and I was going to buy the S8 until I had it on my hand. Also I was considering the P10 Plus, mostly because of the camera, but that capacitive button is just not that nice and gestures don't work correctly. I was playing like 10 minutes with it, and gestures were all buggy and not intuitive. Before that, I also had the Mate 9, but I returned it and came back to the Axon 7 because of the screen and sound, even when camera was slightly better.
In conclusion, I won't be changing the Axon 7 until I see a real contender to it. Real stereo speakers, nice battery, good display and decent camera are enough for me, which none of the devices released in 2107 have. In my opinion, exchanging the multimedia experience for a "better" design is not the best move to do.

what I meant is that there is not really a gap, it's not like the 820 is so slow already that one NEEDS a 835. A real gap is something like a a notebook with an Atom and a real laptop with a Pentium or a Core.
So the S8 has a faster processor but not needed by any application around.
Beside, I've read so many times that the S8 screen is very fragile. One drop and...
What are you tempted by? The stupid price? Locked bootloader? No root? Red tinted display? Random reboots? Subpar battery life? Fast charging not working while the display is on? Bloat? Lag? Lack of updates? Lower Android version than what the Axon is currently on? help me understand this temptation.

My boy chrih steps into the ring and immediately delivers a knockout blow early into the first round.
LG V20 here, Samsung sucks. Don't buy any of their phones unless you want a bloated piece of **** that'll run like ass after a few weeks of usage and break more than iPhones.

Will the Axon 8 be released soon? I thought they were going to release an Axon 7S or something like that. Slightly upgraded Axon 7 (more ram, I think and slightly better snapdragon)
Edit: It's the Axon 7S, not the 8. There's not much difference between the 7 and the 7s

There will be an Axon 8. The 7S is just an update for China, with Snadragon 821. It probably won't be released to other countries.
The AXON 7 was announced end of May last year, released in June. The previous flagship (2015) was middle of summer (announced July, released August). With the Snapdragon 835 situation could be June/July.

As far as I know, the Axon 8 will be the same device as the Axon 7S, and they will just change the name for international market.
It seems the real change maybe will come next year when they released the Gigabyte phone the showed earlier this year.
