THEORY: USA Moto X Pure contain the hardware for dual SIM capability? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed on my Moto X Pure (USA) that the SIM tray looks like it would support 2 SIMS + Micro SD on my SIM tray, but one of the SIM holding slots is covered with plastic... Is Motorola artificially limiting dual SIM in the US? I wonder if the internals in the phone itself has the hardware for supporting 2 SIMs and it would be possible to modify this SIM tray to hold 2 SIMs or import a SIM tray from a country with dual SIM models? If the ROM on the US version wouldn't support it, I am sure a custom ROM could be made to support it (if my theory is correct).

Interesting thought as I travel on a yearly basis, I'll be looking into this and get back to you when I receive my phone

Hmm. Use my VZW and Project Fi at the same time.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk

until we get a teardown of the phone, showing both sets of SIM contacts. we won't know.

I was wondering that when I first put my sim in. Some other people said that the Brazil and south american version of the style has dual sim capabilities. Would be pretty cool if we could just pop out the plastic and use the other slot.

Sorry folks, it does not have contacts for the second SIM slot.
You can see I circled the SIM 1 contacts but there are no contacts where SIM 2 would be. I circled the two locations where the SIM 2 contacts should be.

I've seen a review of the Pure that shows the tray as having 2 sim slots. So I'm guessing the Style does, the Pure does not.

Software SIM card possible ?

Hi everybody
I'm wondering if any of you know whether it's possible to dump the contents of a SIM card in the phone's memory, then to be able to use the phone without the physical sim card present.
I'm engaged with two providers, to which one belongs a SIM card, and I'm forced to open my phone and switch cards when I want to switch from one network to the other... that's really unconvenient !
The point would be to have both SIM cards dumped in my phone's memory, and choose one from a software option.
I'm using a WM6 flashed HTC P3300, if that's of any use.
Thanks a lot !
I never heard about virtual SIMcard in unit memory - but you have standard solution - dualsim ( you can find different solutions - but check before buy - not all working proprly with WM phone .

thanks for your answer
this not exactly not what I need, but I'll check in that way too
No that's pretty much exactly what you need.
You want to be able to use two carriers simultaneously (or at least psuedo simultaneously) without opening the phone and manually changing SIM cards.
As far as I know this is the ONLY way to do that. And it's still not perfect. Like he said make sure the device you get is 3G compatible or it won't work right. Also if you look around they have a device that looks like vice grips with a small cookie cutter welded to it. This is what you need to cut the sim chip. you can try with a scissors but try explaining to your wireless carrier why you need a new sim card.
Also it's tough ordering over the internet because you need to make sure that whatever you get will actually fit in your specific phone (they are all designed to take a standard sim chip but NONE are "designed" to take one of these things. some work in some phones but not in others. The newer ones (which you'll need since you need 3G) usually have an "automatic" setting which basically switches back and forth between carriers without you touching it.
Good luck!
Or u can use Super SIM read here http://www.nowgsm.com/GSM6in1.htm
i also wanted to do the same thing - has anybody tried such a dual sim adapter in a treo by a chance?
also, the sim cards are definitely v2 as they've been issued within the last year and have 3g compatibility;
i'd really love to hear if it worked for somebody before i go ahead and cut the chip out of my sims

Top Paid Section missing in Android Market for Nexus One?

My top paid section is missing in the Android Market for the Nexus One. Anyone else see this? is there a reason why??
No its there. Are you in a not-yet-supported country? Maybe your provider hasn't done the necessary paperwork. Post some info!
that's odd. I am with tmobile. I did sign onto the market initially with WIFI and then with 3G. Anyone know how to correct this? I have to totally reformat? or can I just clear my market cache or something?
having the same issue, on t-mobile, i also went on with wifi before putting my sim in
Might wanna try a hard reset this time using 3G first to see what happens.
sorry to be a mega noob but i don't know how to hard reset it, i tried holding the ball and the power button and i get this fast boot screen thing.
edit: nevermind i found it, i feel stupid
edit2: that fixed the problem
Recently is disappeared the column of paid apps from my market

They are present in "just in" and in the research, but the column is missing.
Is there a solution that does not involve the wipe?
I had this problem until I finally put my sim in. The market appearently uses the sim to validate your location. Could be you need a new sim from T-Mobile and there is some issue with yours.
I spent about three days setting up mine before moving the sim over and used wifi for everything. Once I put in the sim everything worked fine and it showed all the paid apps.
I have never had that Paid apps in my Market section.. I ordered my Nexus One and had my brother ship it over to me in Kuwait. It never saw my ATT sim card, only a local Wataniya SIM card.. Guess it will have to wait till I get home to be able to use that feature!
This helped me: http://android.modaco.com/content/g...daco-com/303251/paid-apps-android-market-1-6/
In special, the last part about the xml.

Thanks!!
It works!!

[VIDEO] Non-Verizon Nexus 6 VoLTE Working

Make sure you have HD Voice provisioned on your account https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/accountholder/services/displayProductsServices.action click on Manage Your Products, add HD Voice, should provision in ~15min
If you're not seeing Enhanced LTE, dial *#*#4636#*#*, phone information, scroll to turn on VoLTE flag, restart device or put into Airplane Mode
Now go to Settings ---> More ---> Cellular Networks and Enhanced LTE should now be enabled

Not working for me.....button in *#*#4636#*#* never changes to anything and I never have option in more settings
I think the key to getting this to work is to be on a 5.1 ROM.... I tried with 5.01 and the new baseband, but I think the settings are in the ROM.
Correct, you need to be on 5.1 for VoLTE
dissapears
i can get it on my phone but as soon as i go to use it i lose lte and then my advance option disappears. could it be possible my sim card doesn't support volte? I had to use a sim from an iphone 5 to get service. I think that sim is different from one that's in a M8 or moto x. Any input would be appreciated.
Edit- got it working by going on Verizon and removing hd voice and the adding it back. SIM card is fine..
Thanks Worked Like a charm. Finally the one major thing I wanted on the N6
Worked for me, but took about 5 - 10 minutes to provision. Thanks!
Worked for me, purchased directly from moto

Appears to be working for me too.
Now to update the wife's phone and get it going there.

Verizon Bloatware

Not sure if anyone else got this, but I went through the phone setup process without my SIM and then inserted the SIM and restarted. Verizon still installed bloatware (go90, my verizon, and one or two others I cannot remember). They were all able to be uninstalled. I know there was a rumor floating around in the Droid-Life comments about inserting the SIM after setup may get around this. It did not (at least for me).
I just used the phone as it came with the SIM installed from the beginning. It did have My Verizon on it and go90, but I am pretty sure I had loaded those on my previous phone (pixel) myself, not as part of the apps that came with the phone. So they transfered from my other phone when the rest of the apps did.
I use the My Verizon so it is still there, but the go90, I just uninstalled it.

After uninstall it was gone.
There might be a few other things, but I have not noticed.
I didn't get any Verizon bloat installed at all on my phone. But I did wait until after setup to put in my SIM, mostly because I was experimenting and updated to the 8.1 DP before even inserting a SIM to see if it would allow for bootloader unlocking of the Verizon variant, but to no avail. Small bonus was that I avoided having to uninstall any Verizon bloat and saved 5 minutes of my time hahaha.

Same here. All activation and setup over WiFi and waited a good 90 minutes before I actually activated with my VZW sim. No Verizon bloat, which was a very pleasant surprise. Was hoping for the same with the bootloader. I Miss my Viper4Android!

How to change 'My Number' ( MSISDN ) on Sim Card [Android 7 - Nougat]

Sometimes, the number saved on the sim card is not the same as the phone number attached to it. It is possible to edit to change what's saved to the sim card. Some apps read the number from the sim card and it can be a minor annoyance when it isn't your phone number that it displays.
I've seen people suggest that to put the sim card in an old Nokia or iPhone and edit it on the other phone, but I recently found out it's possible to edit in Android 7.
Go to settings
Double tap 'Sim Cards'
Double tap on the 'Sim Slot' that sim card is in.
Double tap 'Number'
It becomes writeable, you can enter the phone number that you want saved to the sim card.
Press 'OK'

Hopefully, this will be helpful to some people and they won't be rummaging through cupboards trying to find their old phones.
This may with dual SIM versions but unfortunately on my single SIM G5 there's no SIM card option in settings. If you have Xposed framework installed there is a SIM number changer module or if just rooted there is a very old app I dug up on XDA years ago which still worked on lollipop or thanks when I last had cause to try it. Else it's Nokia tools...

I know this is old, but it's still relevant.
Thank you for writing this, I confirm it works fine on a Moto G 100. Just took my SIM from my Pixel 6, edited it with the Moto G100 and put it back in the Pixel 6, and the number has changed.
