How to stop Smartphone App from restarting (and battery consuming) ? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've noticed that when I force close Smartphone App (in order to clear voicemail icon), the apps starts itself again soon. My former nexus 4 did not act like this. Any ideas?
Further, Clean Master (from CM), keeps notifying me some apps stop and restart in the background (probably due to 2 GB RAM).

Root ur phone and use greenify app..

Any app for managing applications?

I asked in the Must Have Apps thread but never got an answer. Figured a thread would get more attention.
Is there any app for managing applications? Like their notification and sync settings.
Like disabling getting a notification every time I take a screen shot, or preventing a certain app from syncing unless I'm on WiFi.
I don't have root. I figured Juice Defender could help with the sync settings. But what about notifications?

You're in luck, this popped up a little while ago: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ively-banish-apps-from-your-notification-bar/
Should help with the notifications, or if you want better control as to what runs in the background, give this a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
And, of course, if you also want to get rid of ads AdAway is a must, but it got taken down from the Playstore, so you have to Google it.

ROM Toolbox Pro is the must have app. It does what 20 other standalone apps do, including managing app notifications, startup triggers, etc. Comes in real handy when you don't want programs starting up on boot or sending usage info.
Greenify , a nice way to keep rooted device running smooth and lag free

How do I disable apps from running in the background?

I have a D-802 on CM.
Sometimes in some other app I get a message for example 'YouTube has stopped working' then I think why would it even run in the background when I have not even opened it, I am suspicious that there must be more apps running in the background all the time which reduce the battery life.
How do I disable some apps from running in the background without even being opened?

Your right. Im sure there are more apps that runs that you dont know. Install titanium backup and freeze it from there.
Root it and greenfy them This is better than Titanium because it freez the applications you have choosen when you close them, and unfreez then automaticly when you open them

I'll try this, but I was expecting to find an app which have simple settings to allow or disallow certain apps in the background, for example, Afwall+ which greatly controls which apps connect to the internet.

I've been using Greenify for a while now and it seems to work great. Really simple to use.

[Q] broadcasts notifications

Hi,
i just installed the nightly build 25.02.2014 on my Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100) and every 5 minutes or less i have a BROADCASTS cell notification.
so i disable all ticks in the settings > cell broadcasts but it still continues and make empty battery really fast....
how can i avoid it ? is there a fix for that ?
thx
Install link2sd app from play store. Then search broadcast in link2sd then you can see mobile broadcast. Select it and freeze it. The issue will be resolved.

Help on lag

I am running stock rom version 20c d802 (ame)
I face lot of lag with keypad typing.
Also, I have noticed that my phone app and chrome keeps running in active apps despite I press back button. This increases lagness more.
I have also disabled few apps to free some ram. Fresh restart shows me 1 gb of free ram which slowly reduces to 500+
I do not feel any other lag while using the phone but only keyboard. Because of this lg stock keyboard is impossible to use and this lag remains less intense with third party keyboard like ai type.
Also I have notice google music keeps running in background despite being closed using back key.
Kindly advise

Way to revoke permission of using mobile data

Hi, im user who has 100 MB of mobile data per month. Its really small amount, but enough for Messenger, but there is a problem. Google Play Services eats a lot pf them... I have stock Oreo 8.1. Is there any way to disallow this app from using data completly? Without rooting... I have already tried firewalls on Google play, but none of them helped. Is something in ADB possible?
there are settings to restrict (background) data usage on the app itself.. tried that? see attached image
if you are using location services alot, thats probably using most data
Like the user above pointed out you can only disable background data usage on per app basis. That will be very helpful to you for more control you can disable notifications from that app so it wont run or bug you to get into foreground. Once the app is launched it will get acces to the internet.
Ive already tried that and every app has disabled network in the background, but nothing changed, Ive set it like few weeks ago. Trust me, Ive tried almost everything.
