Root - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the phone unlocked. How do I root it? Thanks!

wait until more people get on it.. you should unlock bootloader and wait for recovery or root

patiently waiting...

Are there any devs working in this? I'll gladly donate to help the cause!

Phoen just came out. Give it a few days or weeks.

Can you pull system, recovery, etc images and post on XDA? Devs will need that and I haven't seen anyone post them yet.

There really nothing to donate for. With an unlocked bootloader all that's needed is twrp and there should be no issue getting it once people start getting the device.

Up in the air, chats said it was fine. Websites changes status to warranty as voided. So I'm not doing it until someone finds a work around, or knows for sure...

I've confirmed with Moto that it voids the warranty. This year's Pure Edition is NOT considered a Dev Edition like last year's Pure Edition was.

Does that void the manufacturer warranty AND Moto Care? Or just the former?

I just chatted and was confirmed that it'll void warranty.

Not sure about Moto care...I was told it could be used for physical damage but I don't trust chat reps.

My phone arrives Tuesday..I'll try to get twrp built by then.
It'd be helpful if someone posted a recovery.img for the time being.

I will be the a$$hole here... "Is it true?" is not a valid title for a thread. I feel like I've been bamboozled every time I click on one of these titles. A little more info in the title would help. Don't hate me, it's just really annoying.

If that's the case you would have realized this story started in 2012 and is false. So your thread asking if it's true is not only irrelevant to this forum but also knowingly inaccurate. So yes, I do feel better thank you.

Same, I'm surprised people don't remember that this was a troll a year ago as well when they first lost the huge lawsuit against Apple. Wonder why the article revived and posted the same title.

Samsung should do something funny like this such as paying in Mexican Pesos or some other foreign currency. BTW, $1 billion in nickels would take over 2700 trailer trucks.

Unlocked bootloader? I'm excited again

I can confirm that the unlock is real.
It should be noted that users should NEVER EVER get or take another update from Amazon. This usually involves an upgrade to the "aboot" partition which will IMMEDIATELY RELOCK the device.
Once the device is unlocked several key changes take place in the functionality:
- The device no longer checks for signatures on recovery or boot images. This would allow for custom recovery and the potential for full AOSP ROMs.
- If powered on with both volume buttons pressed, fastboot mode is started for easier recovery of the device.
The unlock, may only apply to certain versions of the OS (*.3.2.1 etc). Some tests for downgrading and then running the exploit need to happen over the weekend and I'm sure that's why you don't see this released yet.
Also, there is probably going to be a fee to unlock, that's a new business model for devs to still make some money off unlock exploits while keeping that exploit from being patched by the OEMs.

I will gladly pay a nominal fee.
FireOS is pretty crappy once you actually start using the device with google play store... Apps (mostly games) constantly crash due to memory issues that i know are because of the OS. How can my HTC One M7 have ~ 900MB ram available at idle when the HDX has ~300 at idle... No phone services are even running? Oh wait, all the crap amazon services are and are so tied in with the OS they are basically impossible to stop/remove without bricking the device...
I can't wait for un-locked boot loader and some real android.... :victory:
