Xposed installer - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to install xposed on the shield? I know that the xposed installer page has instructions that supports up to android 5.1, but the shield tv has not been tested on it, nor does it appear that it would work. It shows that arm and x86 processors work with it. So i am kind of worried about trying it. Anyone tried this?

I don't see what about it wouldn't work. I had the romancer unofficial on my Shield with 1.3 firmware, and it worked fine. I'm now running the official latest on Full Android 1.8, and it also works fine. Just install the 64 bit arm version. Give it a shot. Not all modules work of course, but it wolked for me with a module that disabled the safe headphone volume check, so I can confirm that it works.

hi
your opinion is very informative .i think it will be very usefull for the acqusier.

Hi, I'm new to XDA and I entered because Xposed would like to install on my phone, but I have my doubts, I have a ZTE Blade L2 Plus, Am I Safe?

Thank yor for understanding, and sorry to the thread owner for having this thread derailed.

Hi there from germany and sorry for resurrecting the thread.
I've got my ShieldTV (16g) two days ago and I'm also interested if I can get xposed on the Shield TV (and didn't want to start a new thread). Currently I'am running the stock rom (rooted with the xda manual) and don't want to change to full android.
Is there any possibility to get it running? And which version would work? The main reason for me is to get away the ads on YouTube

Has anybody managed to get xprivacy working on their shield tv?

Does this still work on 2.1 stock rooted? What version should be installed? Thanks

*edit* Tried it myself, sdk 22 arm62 from romracer works. Haven't tested very many modules yet Youtube adaway doesn't work but I'm looking for other modules that would be useful on the shield.

Pretty sure the official (newer-ish) versions of xposed by rovo work on our shields, although i'd try to confirm that before trying as my minds a little hazy and i wouldnt want to be mistaken and be responsible for folks soft/hard bricking their shields..........im pretty sure i asked this question to zulu in his full android thread, and i think i remember him saying we could.......zulu's guide saying to use romracers version i believe was made before official support came along(which is why i asked the question)......but like i said, probably worth asking for confirmation by a user who has indeed flashed the official versions with no issues
Assuming my minds not playing tricks on me, and we can flash the officials, their, MIGHT, be better compatibility aswell

A200

I had posted in the a100 forum and was referred here.
My wife just got the 32 gig a200 and I was wondering about different apps like Beats Audio, Swype etc..
Right now it is all stock but wondering what the steps would be to root and add a new ROM to it..
Thank you for your time..

hbwelch's tool will root, flash recovery and kernel, and much more.
Thanks for your response..
I will look into it. she actually updated it today. so I dont know if I need to wiat for a new root. or if the update was minimal .. and I should go ahead an do it..
The latest update was June 22/23-abouts, and the tool still works on that update, so you should be fine. The tool is practically noob-proof (not calling you a noob, though), and very simple to follow.
I installed Swype beta using the Swype installer. Works perfectly. No hacking required, just need to sign up with swype for thier beta testing.

Thanks.. did they send you an APK or is it something I would need to sign up exclusively?
Sign up. You log in on the installer to download it. WiFi is recommended.

[Q] Best permission manager app?

Hi all,
a few days ago i received my Oppo Find 5. So I rooted it immediately and installed LBE Guard on it, so that I could manage permissions. Why I didn't go with the built-in one? It doesn't show as much permissions you can edit as LBE.
The problem is however, as soon as the service (LBE) starts, my Oppo reboots. This really sucks for I cannot use LBE now, so i can't manage what apps are allowed to do or not.
What is your recommendation? What's the best permission manager according to you? One thing I really want to be able to control is whether an app can auto-start or not. So, does anyone have a good suggestion?
Looking forward to your replies,
dbhuis
Do you use LBE from the playstore? If yes, that one isn't compatible with >=4.1 - at least that was the case. There are newer versions available in a thread on XDA, just search for it.
Still, I'd recommand using (open-)pdroid. You need to patch your ROM for this, but it's better in pretty much any regard.
Is (open)pdroid even possible for the stock rom (4.1.1 version)? Autopatcher only supports openpdroid for 4.1.2 and up.
I would LOVE (open)pdroid for the Oppo stock rom!

Don't know, so far I successfully patched PAC, while Carbon is currently failing for me.
I personally have trust issues with LBE, since it needs root and isn't opensourced, but if that's of no concern, one might as well use it.

There's a permission app for the Xposed framework, don't know how good that works, though, never tried so far.
PAC works wonderful with pdroid
@S.D.Richards I know of LBE, but don´t really trust it either (same reason as you)
I read somewhere that Oppo will be upgrading the Find 5 to 4.2, but I do not know when.
As for the Xposed framework, I haven't heard of it... Have to google it

the patcher for pdroid doesn't support custom ROMs, but if things aren't too different, it might be able to patch it properly

I found it too, some time ago, but pdroid patcher fails.. it does detect the stock Oppo rom as AOSP 4.1.1. Perhaps i have the wrong version of the patcher, I will keep looking.
Try Xprivacy.

Custom Rom Lenovo S6000

Hey guys,
can you say me if there will be custom roms for this tablet in the future?
would be very nice, cause i love flashing all my devices
I would like to know too. Lenovo has crippled this version of Android.

They absolutely have. I was able to "semi-root" with framaroot, so thankfully su is added BUT I still can't uninstall bloatware...although there isn't much it still bugs me. full root and ROM still needed.
Custom ROM for S6000 would be very nice. Searching for it every day.
KitKat
Hopefully someone will add a KitKat ROM when possible, don't see lenovo upgrading us to it when it becomes available. Don't think the tablet is popular enough unfortunately though.
Just use titanium back up to remove bloat.... Work great for me

Yea, I wish there was a custom ROM too. I just got my S6000-H yesterday, rooted it right away and used TiBu to remove some of the bloatware (I froze some more that I wasn't sure of). But it's missing simple things I'm used to from my N7000, like the advanced options in the shutdown menu.
I read in another thread that we do have a type of recovery built in - could someone tell me where to find it?
Never mind, found it ... and finally installed CWM today too. Now all I need is a nice custom ROM, but it doesn't look like any devs have that tablet
Use xposed to add modules. .. reboot, multi Window, floating, etc...etc... my S6000 tab works great. .. Still not good as my note 3 but...almost! My wife is jealous of all my tab can do... She think it stock that way. .. And her weird little Ellipses 7 Verizon gave hercan't do half of it. ... Guess I'll have to pimp her tab up for her! ! Look up x posed installer on xda, or Google it, then just follow where it leads. ... Easy

Thanks for that tip ... I just installed xposed and 3 modules, going to have a look through that huge list these days to see if I find more.
I installed the one to show the temperature in the status bar, the advanced reboot one and the one that shows RAM used/free in the task switcher. Pretty neat so far - if you know of any other "must-have" modules feel free to let me know
And sorry criszz, but no idea if that'll work on your tablet too

Thanks for that update!
I won't hold my breath for anything official seeing as Lenovo didn't even bump up to 4.3,
and zero ROMS out there? Or am I rubbish at searching?
I read in an other Forum that there is no Custom ROM yet because Mediatek isn't releasing Source Code of their ROMs. After Browsing Lenovo Site of the S6000 I have found this:
mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/s6000_tablet?tabname=manuals
You get linked to Manuals, click on Downloads section and then there is:
Open Source Code - S6000 Tablet 10/12/2013 - 320MB
Don't know if it's the right thing, just wanted to mention it here.
And other News on KitKat:
news.softpedia.com/news/Android-4-4-KitKat-Update-for-Lenovo-Yoga-8-Inch-and-10-Inch-Tablets-Coming-in-June-438474.shtml
It's getting closer now, first 4.4 mediatek tablet ( lenovo yoga ) get's update in June. Let's hope for a compatible version / port for the S6000.
In am wondering if the Updates for the Yoga Tablets are compatible with the S6000, cause they use same processor and overall same specs.
Greetings JanDr0id
ps: i erased the httttttp in front of the links cause its my 1st post and xda isnt allowing me to post links yet.
I saw that mediatek released their source for kitkat. All the parts are there. Just need a Dev with one of these to assemble it.

[Q] Marshmallow stock AOSP (or near-AOSP) ROM choice

Hi guys
I'm searching for an Android 6 ROM for Mako that:
Is as stock as possible
Is as bug-free as possible
Works with Xposed (I'm reading around that at this point not all of the MM ROMs do?)
Which one do you guys recommend? I'm confused, there seem to be a lot of variants out there, each one with little differences and nuances... can anyone recommend the best choice(s) for the above requirements?

Chroma is generally considered to be a close to stock stable Rom. Don't know about xposed tho, since the dev doesn't want discussion about it in his thread.

what you look for is fake nexus rom, problem you cant root it, so no xposed.
you can try others though they all have options built-in and have root, so no idea why you will use xposed on those.

I've used a heavily customized ROM for a long time (Euphoria) but now I wanted to try the stock + xposed + GravityBox combo, see if I liked it better. So I was searching for a near-stock (so it doesn't interfere with GB)

Will Lineage OS make my Device compatible with the ps3 Sixaxis controller app?

Hey there,
am trying to get the sixaxis app to work with my p9 lite now, but the applications lists my devices as "incompatible" as it can't get the device's Bluetooth driver configured properly. I read somewhere that the required packages to access this driver is not available on the stock rom but it is available in Cyanogen mod/ lineage OS . if someone can confirm this, it would be a great help, cause i don't want to go through the hassle of installing everything back just to find that the device is still incompatible anyways...
PS: as a proof on concept, i have a galaxy grand prime with Cyanogen mod already running on it, the app worked fine and the controller paired there, but still maybe the device was compatible anyway even without Cyanogen mod on.
It will work.-don't forget to give me a thanks!
