32gb vs 64gb - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, because the S6 Edge+ does not have a microSD card slot I am unsure which GB to get. 32GB or 64GB? The 32GB is £110 ($170) cheaper than the 64GB. However, many people have said that samsung phone prices fall rapidly after a month. So should I wait and buy the 64gb or buy the 32GB now? On my previous iphone 6 plus that I just sold, I used 31GB out of 64GB, however I noticed that apps take a lot of space on the iphone. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Wait 64gb.

other suggestions? thanks

In my honest opinion, get what you will use. I sell my phones within 6 months to 1 year and I haven't seen a massive resale value difference between 32 and 64.
I personally get 32 on all my devices and it has been plenty good.
Just my opinion.

Ya unless u are use to using massive amounts i wouldnt think the extra 100 dollars is worth it. I have gotten by just fine on a 16 gig iphone 6 plus so im going to prob go with 32 myself
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA Free mobile app

I went for the 64Gb as it was only another £3 per month on contract. I figured better safe than sorry, you just never know when extra storage would be welcome, especially recording 4K video.

where? i thought so too, until i had a look at the branded ones (dont care cos i flash anyway). At least here in germany you can get a blue 32gb one for 600€. bought mine 2 weeks ago, very happy
Why do you even need that? Isn't a class 10 32 gb card plus 16gb internal memory sufficient?

Naw. Never enough.. I have started to use my phone as my media player now that we are getting into real numbers. With 26GB on the phone after wasted space. 60 from a 64 micro sd and 50 dropbox. I'm finally close to my 160 iPod that is full and had for years.
Expansys-USA has pebble blue 32gb in stock for 749

I got my 32GB version from Vodafone Greece for 729euros.
The sale contained the Samsung Essential Gift Pack.
I wanted a 64gb one but realised i was gonna have to wait FOR EVER to find one and pay like 700 quid so i just got a 16gb with a 64gb card.
Got like 10gb of space left on the card and 100mb of space left on the phone now, less than two weeks in.
Needs moar space.

8gb or 16gb

Please share your thoughts. looking to get.
For $50 more its a no brainer, besides you're only getting a little over 5gb with an 8gb device.

I agree 100%.
I bought the 16gb for that very reason.
It almost doesn't make sense to get an 8gb.

It dependents on how you want to use the Nexus 7.
Before I bought the Nexus 7, I checked out my usage on my 16GB Asus T101.
It was less than 4 GB.
If you're just viewing content, doing email, reading a couple of books you can probably get away with the 8GB model.
The reason why I say this is that if you're just needing this as a traveling companion, the 8GB will probably be okay.
If you think you might want to carry around more to entertain you, then you should probably select the 16 GB model.
I've had my Nexus 7 for a little over 2 weeks and I still have over 8.01 GB free.
Here's an example of what's on it now: apps, 4.08 GB, pictures, videos, 12.1 MB, audio , 20 KB, downloads: 259 MB.
Perhaps others will tell what their storage looks like.
The extra storage is comforting so if you think you might use it, go for the 16 GB.
16GB all the way. While you can always access your media from the cloud (assuming a wifi connection) if you want to carry any media with you, not to mention an app or two you will be sorry with only 8GB to work with.
after the formatted volume and operating is took into consideration it would be not enough to have 8gb, i got the 16gb and its great

While I agree that 8gb would probably be ok for Mom and Aunt Nancy, anyone on these forums should opt for the 16gb. Even if you don't "normally" use that much storage, there will always be that one time. Plus resale value on these will be crappy for the 8gb. Anyone rebuying these will want the 16gb.
In this day and age, 8gb devices are a joke. I know they keep cost to a minimum but the actual price difference between a 8gb and 16gb chip is nil. The bare minimum should be 16gb and even those should be fading out soon. Honestly tablets should be 16gb/32gb/64gb.

Google and Asus must be loving this thinking too, you could buy a 16gb micro sd for $10, and they get to charge 50 for just an extra 8gb.
Not saying it's the wrong decision to get the 16gb, it's just annoying
if youre an 'on the cloud' guy.... go for 8gb....
if you like to store everything for offline use... go for 16gb..
i have a 16gb... and am always connected to wifi.... everything on google's cloud, got 13.24GB free space
your choice really... but I don't think i would have regretted getting the 8gb one
If you flash ROMs a lot definitely get the 16gb because I do and I got the 8gb and I think that it's not enough because I need to plug it in the PC to put ROMs/backups/etc very often (with 8gb you only get about 5.xxgb of usable storage) ... So if I bought one I'd buy the 16gb, but I got mine as a gift so I am not complaining
Also keep in mind that 8gB is like ~6+GB available space while 16gb is about 13+GB available

Really are comments like your Mom and Aunt Nancy really necessary...sounds a bit irrelevant unless you're trying to make this a sexist issue.
Thanks everyone for their replies. I ended up taking Vbacon's advice of looking at my Asus TF101's usage.
After many ROMS, videos, and even the entire MAME ROM collection, i still never passed 4 gb out of 32gb on it. So i bought the 8GB nexus.
I used the device mostly as a browser/emailer. I used to stream music from it, but now use my Droid Razr for that. When i do watch video, it's streaming from HBOgo, Netflix, amazon Instant video or brighthouse. So the reality was, i just wasn't storing much.
Many on the replies said they bought the 16gb and that their decision was absolutely worth it. what was it that made it absolutely worthwhile? Is it just peace of mind or actual use?
16GB is my recommendation,
Besides of the available space there are benchmarks showing that I/O performance is better than in the 8GB version because of the controller used. and 50 more bucks is not that much for extra space that you may need some day
I purchased the 16gb so that I wouldn't have to deal with Out Of Space errors that plagued my HTC Droid Incredible. I play Zen Pinball, Pinball Arcade, & use tTorrent Pro. The pinball games can have tables that run into 100mb & up. Pinball Arcade has almost 10 tables available for purchase. Zen Pinball has 8 tables available. Storage space becomes an issue quickly.

i was open-minded. I just didn't see any logical reason to buy bigger except for the last post that spoke about I/O performance.
16 GB because the system itself takes memory, so a 8GB device, would have like 5GB available empty :S

32GB/64GB Note 2 in UK?

Hi guys,
I currently have an S3 and I have a buyer for it, I will be buying the Grey Note II very soon. However, due to the large number of games I have and the increasing file sizes for game data (in particular gameloft games) I would like to go for the 32GB or 64GB version. It is very inconvenient to always run out of space and have to move game data to the SD card. With the size of phone games these days, 32GB really should be the new standard imo.
I already have a 64GB memory card so please don't tell me where I can purchase one of these. I want the Note 2 in Grey with 32GB or 64GB internal memory. Do they exist? Will they ever appear or am I likely to be waiting indefinitely?
Now the buyer for my S3 is getting impatient and he wants it ASAP. I could sell it and buy the 16GB grey Note 2 now, but if there is any news regarding the 32 or 64GB version I will hold out for a bit longer.
Any information would be most helpful.

Samsung are just about to start releasing an S3 64gb. Doesn't bode well for seeing a Note II anytime soon.
They seem to use the extra memory to even out their sales further into the phone's life, rather than maximize them at launch. Bloody annoying really.

I ordered this: KINGSTON SECURE DIGITAL CLASS 10 SDXC 64 GB
I will update this thread once I pick it up at the post office today
I was in the same boat. I wanted the 64GB with 64GB microSD, but it is really unnecessary. To use that space you would need A LOT of movies on the phone. Movies etc can be streamed from your home computer via the Emit app. You can also use dropbox, so even 16+64GB is moooooooore then enough space.
Im one hoping for the release of the 64gb variant soon.
I think samsung have dropped the ball here.

I've gone ahead and ordered the 16GB Grey Note II today. For those interested in the UK, this is the deal I got:
Grey Note II (FREE HANDSET)
300 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
1.5GB Internet
£27 Cashback.
£31 per month (T-Mobile)
24 Month Contract.
I ordered it today, it should be with me tomorrow.

No, the one I ordered is 3G.
Thing is, I do not intend to use 4G at all yet especially since we can be sure it will cost a fair bit on top of our contracts. I have also heard reports that the battery life takes quite a hit on 4G. By the time 4G is standard across the UK and we have coverage everywhere, I reckon I may have the Note 3 by then...
farfromovin - I agree with you, I think 128GB micro sd cards are literally just a few weeks away now.
If your thinking for waiting before buying the consensus is that is too long to wait for most. We are greedy. But it might still be a good idea as next week ee launch the lte version, this may affect the prices but come November network prices will definitely be affected. Combined you might save £50 in 30 days. This is all skeptical I know so let's say the EV is around £25 allowing for a fall in hype too.

It's funny you say that. I was thinking the same thing. I sure hope so. If this is the case I'd be willing to go that route. Not only is it more storage it's a more future proof solution. In fact the difference between a 16GB and 64GB note will probably be roughly equal to the difference between a 64GB card and a 128 GB card.
... here's hoping.
Got my Note II today, what a beast of a phone. Takes the best things from the Note I and the S3 and combines them, and improves it some. :good:

The XC standard is supposed to be fixed regardless of memory size (up to a limit I forget) where the HC standard was different for each capacity. Wouldn't guarantee it but if 64 works then 128 (256, 512...) should be fine.

ill be on the look out then as i wouldnt mind a large card for my hd films (and no its not porn ).

side note...the way these sdxc are increasing in size and cheapness on price i can see them maybe killing off usb sticks the way its going...boy are 64gb micro card small cant wait for 128gb ones.

[Q] No Carriers in US have 64GB Versions?

That's probably because it's too expensive. People expect to pay close to $900 for an iPhone and carriers are willing to take the risk on an Apple product. Not so much with any other manufacturers.
Unless it's going to be a few months I will definitely hold out for the 64gb version. I have 16gb now which is horrible.
Too expensive is a load of BS. The price point between 16/32/64 is each one goes up $50-100 so a 64GB should cost $349-399 at most. People buy 64GB iphones though not as many compared to the 16/32GB options. The issue is people in the US are CHEAP, the average user just won't spend the extra $50 to get more storage, they cry they can put an SD card in which is only partially true, you can't put apps on that SD card which is WHY we want 64GB. I guess it will take another few years before Samsung drops 32GB and goes 64GB only
I had high hopes for LTE being the one standard to which we could all balance on but those telco's certainly like to screw us royally and will never agree on anything that takes dime out of their own pockets.

I dont see how it could be too expensive. I bought the HTC one 64 GB from AT&T pre-order with no problems. I actually got a hell of a deal on it too. Did it during the free Media Link promo they had. They took the 99 dollars off the 64 GB which made it like 250 and were supposed to re-charge me that when they shipped the media link. Well they never shipped it and never tacked that price back on.

Too little, too late. 32GB is the new 16GB. It wasn't that long ago when phones were 4-8GB. My Note 1 is approaching 2 years old, back then the market wasn't full of 1gig plus games, the camera res wasn't as good etc. To me especially with limited data bigger internal storage is a must.
And as you said an SD card isn't the same when you can't move apps to it, I have a 64gb card for music, audiobooks, pictures and videos and I still barely get by with the 16gb internal storage.
Not that I myself will actually use it...But the Note3 is said to be able to shoot video in the new 4K format. That's a space DEVOURER right there!

I don't disagree, but if Samsung hadn't removed the 16GB version the US carriers would have ordered those and NOT the 32GB. Like I say we need Samsung to just go 64GB + microSD and make it a big value.
My understanding is 32gb + LTE or 64gb + NO LTE
In which case it's pretty reasonable tradeoff to me...
but then I hear about 4 core CPU + LTE or 8 core CPU + NO LTE - now that is bullsh!t
Yes I noticed that. I wonder why or how they are related...

[Poll] 64/6GB or 128/8GB

Let's see which model people have decided to buy. Drop a vote.
I personally think the price difference is fair and tempting to go for the higher end model.
Wanted the 64/6GB model but I had to wait to long for it in Italy, so I spend the few more bucks for the bigger one. Since I got the student -10% it was okay.
If there was expandable storage I would have got the 6/64GB. Considering you lose 15-20% of that space out of the box, getting the 128GB was a no brainer....its not like the 6GB isnt enough ram
I selected the 8/128 as the other one was out of stock and delivery delayed by a good week... The price different is not much anyway...
Couldn't fill up my 16GB devices back then, so I went for the more-than-enough 64GB model
I got the 64GB model, but I kinda wish I paid a bit more for the 128 ?
My old phone was only 32gb so any option would work for me, but I plan on keeping this phone for a while so I went with the 128gb. Compared to other phones this upgrade was cheap.
I can barely fill up my current 16 gb lg g2 and I've been using it for the past 2 years
I think 64 gb is more than enough for me
I was under half full on my 64GB OnePlus 2, so I went with 64GB again. I figure if I ever get that full I should be backing things up anyway.
Got the 128, should be here mid next week! I have 30GB of music alone so 128 is definitely the choice for me lol
I wanted the 64gb but it had a much longer waiting time so I settled for the 128gb. I think that 6gb RAM is gonna be overkill even in 2-4 years and storage is meaningless to me because I stream everything from my home server... Oh well.

Who the hell really wants to have to rely on copy and pasting and keeping everything local these days? Who wants to have to copy from phone to phone these days to keep everything synced? I don't just use one device, i use multiple. The hassle to have to constantly manually copy to keep everything the same on all devices is a mentality from a decade ago. Get up with the times already. Automate that by using the cloud! Whether it be your own cloud or purchasing cloud storage.
My 128 should arrive tomorrow. Without expandable storage, I want the largest I can get.

For $50 more you get specs comparable to a low-end gaming machine.
