Device is not rooted message with stock recovery - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In stock recovery if I click the version number under the advanced menu multiple times, I get the message "Device is not rooted". It then has yes as the only option, tapping it appears to do nothing and returns me to the advanced menu.
Can someone who has rooted then reflashed stock recovery see if any more options are available on a rooted device, or does it just say "Device is rooted"?

I have flashed and have to reason to go back to stock recovery. TWRP is working fine and ive also update to 2.0.1

[Q] 3.2 won't install, help?

I got the notice that my new Firmware was available, so I chose to just install it. I am rooted, and realize that would unroot the device, but I didn't much care. But when I hit install, the device rebooted and just hung on the triangle + exclamation point screen. So I rebooted the device, and I'm still on 3.1. Tried it twice more for same result.
Then I came here, saw that someone had already (can't believe how fast that happened) had a patched zip file to move to 3.2. I verified I still had root, downloaded that patch, and tried to install through CWM. Device reboots, but will not install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Which recovery do you have? It sounds like you have a stock recovery, but need CWM to flash the modded 8656 zip file. Did you ever see the orange text of the menu screen?
if you changed your recovery the official update wont install. you have to wait for someone to post it rooted for cwm

Yeah, I have stock recovery. And no, I never saw any text.
Ok, so it sounds like you have 8.4.4.11 with the stock recovery.
I think you should flash CWM for 84411, then use that to flash Roach's upgrade. brk has a batch script that should be able to flash the right version of cwm, but I forget which option it is. I'm not sure if the version will matter, but it wouldn't hurt.

[Q] Help with safestrap plz...

Hi, i'm having issues with installing recovery with safestrap.
I have successfully rooted my device using saferoot and confirmed that I have SU access. I then installed Safe Strap 3.71 and followed all instructions, but when I click on "Install Recovery", it brings a pop-up that starts & completes the installation, however, after its completed installing, nothing happens... At the top where it says "State", its still showing "Not Installed" and at the bottom, for "Safe System" its still saying "Not Active" and the "reboot to recovery" is grayed out
any suggestions on how to get past this problem? i've tried re-installing multiple times with both 3.71 and 3.70 but it is still not working.
i'm on AT&T, android 4.3 with build MK2
Thanks!

I am having the same problem with SafeStrap 3.71 saying System Disabled when I reboot. So I downloaded the ROM Manager app from the Play Store for CWM 6.0.4.4 and it doesn't give me the back-up/restore option in its menu. Then when I select reboot under the droid icon on the screen it says error. Hopefully someone can help us out with this! As I really would like to get the GUMMY ROM KitKat 4.4 running on my phone this weekend!!
Also I tried to flash CWM in, but when I get into the last step of the Terminal Emulator is doesn't work ;(

You cannot install CWM or TWRP on the S4 unless you have MDL firmware. You are also out of luck regarding running 4.4 roms. Currently you can only flash 4.3 touchwiz roms if you are on MK2.

Have you tried restarting to see if it worked anyway, even though it reports it didn't? If it worked it should give you a 10 second window to enter recovery while it's booting. Perhaps you could also check the SuperSU app to see if you for sure gave the SafeStrap installer root access or if you accidentally denied it. Although it would probably give an error if it didn't have SU permissions, but it's worth a shot.

Nope, it should work. I'm not sure what's wrong. This person seems to have had the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49381415#post49381415
I don't see any solution in the thread, but you could try quoting their post and asking if they ever solved the problem.

What rom are you on, stock or custom? Safestrap will show to be disabled on the stock rom even when it's installed. It shows active when running a custom rom that is installed on it.

Once you have Safestrap installed on the stock rom then you reboot your phone and you will see the prompt to go to Safestrap recovery or continue to boot. So make certain you've a TW (ONLY) rom you like & copied to your phone & gapps & the modules. Then reboot to safestrap recovery, backup current rom, select a slot for custom (usually slot 1) create slot, Activate rom slot & follow developer install instructions for rom. Safestrap uses TWRP so it's very easy to use & works great.. You should be golden after.

Hey John, I tried re-booting but im not getting any prompts to go into safestrap revocery. All I see is samsung written on the top with a silver padlock below, with the words "custom" written under the lock. After that screen it goes into the regular at&t startup.
Is there a way to force activate safestrap on re-boot?

Hmmm. I would double check your unknown sources setting & perhaps even try reinstalling SafeStrap. You will get the Safestrap Splash screen upon reboot which gives you the option to continue to booting the phone or to enter Safestrap recovery. It always shows in red as disabled on stock rom and green as enabled on a custom rom. Do you have Safestrap showing up in your apps?

Try installing Busybox from the Play Store, then try the installation again.
Safe system will say not active until you switch to a rom slot from within the SafeStrap recovery.

[Q] Odin not sending over recovery

Hello,
I have the T-Mobile variant of the S5 and I am trying to install a custom recovery and it doesn't send it over to my phone. I tried to push over both TWRP and Philz Touch and Odin3 said they both succeed in installing. However, when I go into recovery, it shows the stock recovery still. At the top it says "Android system recovery <3e> LRX1T.G900TUVU1DOB1". I have been looking it up for a while now and I can't seem to figure it out. I do have Android version 5.0 stocked and not rooted on my phone.
How I tried to do it in Odin:
I made sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time were selected.
Then I checked off PDA and navigated to both the philz_touch_6.57.8-klte.tar.md5 and flashed it. After I rebooted my phone I went to check the recovery and it was still stock. It was the same exact way with the openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-gt-klte.tar file I flashed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Brandon
I have same problem on dual sim variant.
Sent from my SM-G900FD using XDA Free mobile app
Hmmmmmm, well good to know it isn't just my phone. I also forgot to mention I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit edition with the latest Samsung drivers.
Happened here too, ended up having to root with "CF Auto Root", then install TWRP recovery with "TWRP Manager" from Google Play (Free)
It's because of the auto reboot. That needs to be unchecked, after the flash is done, pull the battery and reboot into recovery using the buttons.

This worked perfectly. Thank you!
Edit: Right afterwards when I tried to go back into it, the recovery was back to stock.
That's strange, it should have stayed custom

"No Command" Stock Recovery Not Responding

I think I am having a similar issue to the OP in the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3267539
I have unlocked my boot-loader and rooted a flashed factory image of mdb08m using skipsoft.
So I want to flash the new OTA but despite unrooting and using the the function in skipsoft to unroot, remove files, and restore stock recovery the OTA failed. I have since then downloaded the the factory image and re-flashed the stock recovery but every time I go into recovery (to try and sideload) I get the red exclamation with the words "No command" underneath. I then can not do anything.....
Thankfully the phone boots and runs like normal yet I can not do the update ?
Any ideas please?

the ota will likely still fail if you were able to sideload it.
its been my experience with previous devices, you cant really remove root properly and make the phone 100% like it was. that probably why the update is failing.
frequently you need to flash the full stock img to make the phone clean enough for ota's.
i cant guarantee thats the case here, but is very likely.
If you get the 'No command' thingy you should try fastboot flashing the recovery.
That's what did the trick for me.

Please help me get my S6 Edge Plus (SM-G928F) out of TWRP Recovery

Heyy guys, this is my first time posting a new thread
Unfortunately, my phone is stuck in TWRP recovery. When it was still working I downloaded Flashify. I don't remember what but when it restarted the phone, it stayed in TWRP recovery and never went back to normal. I tried wiping my phone several times and still won't go back. Then I pressed the option Change or Repair System File or something like that. But I put the wrong option on that menu and now it is completely stuck on the TWRP startup screen , I can't enter TWRP at all.
I tried everything that I possibly could. I even tried flashing a different version of TWRP and Philz Touch but still didn't budge. If y'all have any possible solutions, please speak up. My phone has been like this for about 6 days :crying:
I'm downloading the stock firmware of my model SM-G928F (G928FXXSBPIB). That's the only thing that I think that could possibly make it work. Do y'all think the same or is there something else I could do?
Go in download mode and flash that stock firmware that you downloaded.

Ok so now if you want to root your phone. first install twrp and make sure oem is unlocked. Then when you boot into twrp make sure you dont select that option at the start otherwise you will keep booting into twrp continuously. Next flash cf auto root and then go back into twrp and enable that option that was disabled before you rooted your phone. You should be fully rooted with no errors.
