Blocking bloat with Debloater - Galaxy Note5 General

I used the Debloater program below to hide/disable a bunch of apps on my AT&T version.

Attached is the exported list. Everything running fine for the last day or so. Anyone care to contribute to the bloat blocking list?

Debloater list and help for the S6 Edge Plus +

Hi.
I´d installed the Debloater program from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294 and tried to make my block list.
Have done a list of 60 apps now.. and so far everything seems to be ok at my phone..
But.. I would like to know if anything on my list (the blocklist) is preventing me for something "out of the box".. I know, that every people have their own behavior, but my phone situation is like this.: Currently I have this Rom install, so many apps are already debloated.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/development/rom-audax-plus-v1-0-t3219017
Don't use FB, Twitter, Instragram, Snap. WhatsApp etc.. But do use Skype
Don't use chromecast, miracast and things like that
Some of the apps on both the block and unblocked list are self explained, but still there are some of them, I really dont know what they do and what relationships they might have for some situations..
I have attached both my block and unblocked list... so please let me know if some of them can easily been blocked.. or in the matter shouldn't be at my block list..
Anyhow.. I would like you all with this great phone to comment and share your list of debloating apps..
Ok.. the SmartManager.apk wasn´t the best one to block.. I knew that, but didn't think about it, when picking apps for blocking.. Has unblocked it again.

Root app alternatives

I used to use a few apps that required root. Obviously now I can't use them. Here are some alternatives I've found.
In place of Titanium Backup
Helium backup, (won't back up *everything * like Tibu did but it's probably the best one. Without root it requires you to download a small app on your computer to enable it in the beginning , then you can disconnect after that. (What I think this does is to trick Android into thinking it's backing up to a PC when it isn't).
Some apps are prevented from being allowed to be backed up which is annoying.
In place of Adaway
This was the best app to block ads all over android, but it requires root.
Adguard (search for it on Google it's not in play store) is the next best thing. It's free to block ads in your browser but to block ads elsewhere you need to pay. It'll give you a free trial for that feature though. Seems to work very well so far.
I can't think of anymore than that but Tibu, Adaway, and enabling tethering were some top reasons I rooted in the past. Tethering is now allowed by default, so that's not an issue anymore.
Hopefully we can eventually get root because none of my alternatives are better than the rooted stuff. But much better than I expected! [emoji83]

Debloater Tool

I'm not responsible if you screw your Device up.
Just Read, Read, Read and then read somemore.
I used this to disable those unwanted BloatWare Apps on my VZW Note 7
An Excellent Tool......
It has worked for me in the Past on other devices and hasn't let me down yet.
The list I used as an example for my vzw note 7 was from the galaxy s6.. The Tool will also freeze all the Knox apps if you check them,.
The List is a Model to go by but does not mean all the same apps will freeze on vzw note 7(Experiment with list and don't freeze all apps at once) .... Very Nice,.......
I had not updated with the Latest Verizon Update but was getting the prompt to do so.
Another great thing is you can freeze the sdm.apk and you don't get the consistent Software Update alerts or an accidental clicking of the Update prompt, either way by selecting the sdm.apk it freezes it. I'm gonna hold out with hopes on root and if it never comes and I decide to I will go back in the debloater tool and unfreeze the sdm.apk....
Thanks again GatesJunior for the Debloater Tool and natypes for the use of your list(may be a newer list out there, this worked for me) it's greatly appreciated from all of us overhere in the Verizon Note 7 Community.......
1st Link is the Bloatware Removal Tool
( In our Case a Disabler Tool).
2nd Link is the List I Used as reference, it came from the S6........

What did you choose to block/de-bloat?
Great tool, been using it since he released it. It allows you to disable MORE than that Package Disabler Pro does because Samsung can't censor him like they can with PDP.
It gives you LESS info on the items, so you better know what you're disabling.
I posted in the Debloater thread, but thought given there might be something specific to the Verizon Note 7, I'd ask my question here as well.
I used Debloater tool (and have successfully in the past with other Note Phones) on my Note 7, but was not able to get the Software update to disappear (like it the past). Typically I just froze the sdm apk and was done. This time, the Note 7 showed 2 SDM apk's (this one and SDM Viewer I believe) and after freezing them, it did not remove the Software update category on the phone.
I wonder if it has anything to do with taking the update issued the day I got my phone?
Any thoughts?
A safe list of Bloatware to disable with EZ Package Disabler
I have attached my bloatware list.
It's not the best list. I hope you can help me make it better.
anybody make a complete set on what they disabled specifically for the note 7 yet?
Coming from someone who extensively tested package disablers on the note 5....they do more harm than good. Do not use them. Instead, manually go to your application manager and disable the apps. When it asks to "restore to previous version" hit yes, and it will disable it instead of install an older version.
The only reason to use a disabler is if you have a faulty app/disable updates or to disable the gear service to use google or other third party VR apps that need it.

The issue with that is the inability to disable things like Knox and VVM and background services that don't have app icons, don't show up in the application manager, and are of no use to the end user but still take up CPU cycles and background data. Package disablers are definitely not something to just run through hacking and slashing away without knowing what it might affect, but you'll have to explain why you say they "do more harm than good" if someone is taking the proper precautions and not disabling things the system needs to function correctly.
Thats the problem, most people dont know what to disable and what not too. This takes a lot of testing.. I know, I tested quite a bit on my note 5, enough to know that even disabling programs like knox and VZN has 0 effect on battery and in some cases causes space to be eaten up by logs and the caches of these disabled programs that build up but cant clear out, because, they are disabled. There is a huge 100+ page note 5 topic about package disabler and how it does more "harm" than good. If you have the time read up on it! Me and another guy Mr.Mike spent almost a year on it..

I skipped the Note 5 and stuck with my Note 4 until now, so I missed that whole thread. I'll definitely check it out, thank you.
Any idea if this will work for package disabler pro?

Why do you call this a "safe list"? It looks like you disable a lot of core functionality with this including NFC. A better title would be "my list of disabled packaged" and mention that you will lose multiple features if you do this...

Bloatware removing???

So I happened to find these apps, I'm using G6 from Korea (G600L). I posted this thread in G6 Q&A already and seems like not so many people know
I'm not sure if these apps are safe to unsintall (Adb shell pm uninstall)

Any updates? Even if you share your progress so far would be highly appreciated!
As a general rule, unless you're 100% certain, you shouldn't uninstall system apps you're even remotely unsure about. Your safest bet would be to use an app like Root Uninstaller Pro to "freeze" them and see if any side effects come about on your phone. If so, you can unfreeze them and keep testing what you can and can't disable. LG MLT is something you should definitely get rid of, and apart from the PC/Sync packages you listed there (Which you could remove if you don't intend to use LG PC Suite with your phone) I wouldn't go fully removing any others.

Bloatware ADB Uninstall Script

Hi guys,
does anyone have a list or script for adb uninstall ready? Someone linked it for S10+ back in the day and it was very nice. Maybe some of you already have a list compiled?
Appreciated.
Regards
I did exactly that this morning. Used this list below. Some things like Onedrive weren't in the list but that is listed as skydrive
adb setup https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
debloat list https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/galaxy-s10-s10-debloat-bloatware-t3912073

Thank you very much! Will try it once my device arrives.
Be careful not to uninstall the stock launcher, my navigation bar stopped working. Had to reinstall the launcher.
Please post your findings of what worked / didn't work, as the provided list is for the S10 obviously.

it worked for me. Some packages weren't originally installed so didn't need to remove.
I am wondering if anyone has the package name to remove the MacAfee bloat.
Thanks

In Canada on Rogers network.
Can i ask what's the point of this? I was reading about the process and it states that the apps aren't fully uninstalled, they're basically hidden from "user 0", so why not just the hide app function? Or am I missing something here? Are they not running in the background for user 0? Is this more like a hibernate feature?
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried removing apps the traditional way, a decent amount of the bloatware is removable. Most of what I wanted gone is gone, just a few extra apps now.
menu space and disk space saving is negligible real benefit is less CPU load / battery as they're not even running in background
its a great way to do it because you can restore via factory reset, no lasting damage possible (except for removing stock launcher without another installed ROFL even then I'm guessing you can use stock recovery to wipe)
I have been working on this. I have barfed up my phone a couple times now removing apps that should not be removed. I think I finally have a solid list that others can use. I'm just cleaning it up so it makes sense.
I wouldn't use a removal script, especially one intended for a different phone.
Use CCSWE App Manager. It is free and braindead simple to use. It can uninstall non-system apps, but it can disable any app including system apps, which is really what you should do, rather than uninstalling. That way, you can reverse any mistakes by simply toggling a switch. Debloating with this app is so easy my 96 year old grandmother could do it.
the one liner I used
I wasn't sure about most apps, but I removed anything that has the words facebook linkedin netflix microsoft amazon or game in it using this one liner:
Code:
pm list packages | grep -E 'facebook|linkedin|netflix|microsoft|amazon|game' | awk -F ':' '{print "pm uninstall -k --user 0 " $2}' | sh
you can list the packages that are going to be removed using the first half:
Code:
pm list packages | grep -E 'facebook|linkedin|netflix|microsoft|amazon|game'

Any chance you can list of the things you disabled with CCSWE? I am getting some pretty bad battery drain (2%/hr) with screen off on Exynos S20. Am keen to kill all the bloatware but not so keen on using the s10 guide as it is a new phone.
Or if anyone is able to compile a list of ADB/CCDWE of things we can disable with the functionality that would be awesome!

2%/hr standby drain is a little high. You should be able to get down to 1%/hr or less.

What's new
I remapped holding the power button to toggle flashlight, and double tap still launches the camera. Those shortcuts work even after disabling the Bixby-related services listed above.
I did not disable the Bixby camera scanner because I may use it. But if you have no use for it, then disable Bixby Vision & Bixby Vision Framework.
If you use any of the other apps/services, then don't disable them. I use Google Calendar & Google Contacts, so the Samsung versions are unnecessary. And I use Pulse SMS, so no need for Messages app.
The great thing about CCSWE App Manager is being able to reverse changes on the fly. If you do something that breaks functionality, then just re-enable whatever messed things up. No need to go to a computer and mess with adb. If you like CCSWE, then I *highly* recommend supporting the developer, to encourage continued development.
Mental having to make lots of adjustments for exynos!! I reckon ya could get snapdragon and just enjoy it, be the last time I'm rushing in to buy Samsung think I'm done with exynos

Thats partly true. It becomes uninstalled for the User 0 (You or me) Its not removed from the device. As it is uninstalled for the User, it cant then be sucking up RAM or utilizing the already heavily criticized CPU.
I've debloated my S20 Ultra down to the bare minimum of what the phone could actually function on. I've removed Bixby, Samsung Pay, all the samsung apps, most google apps and a bunch of others. I can provide the list of all i have removed if anyone wants it?
Best.
