Serveral Apps wont work(crash) at OnePlus 2 - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm having some Problems with a few Apps that crash if I start them
gReader - even freeze device for about five seconds
AirDroid
K-9 Mail

/edit: Thanks @khr0n0s - switching off the Dark Theme enabled at least K-9 Mail and gReader

Yes me too and it's really bloody annoying. OxygenOS feels like it is half-baked and riddled with errors. Not impressed.

@apd @Lord fiSh If you are using Dark mode then try switching it off. This resolved 90% of the app crashes I was having.

Thanks so much. Dark mode was causing the problem with Fenix and Touchdown.

There is a bug in Dark mode which causes this. Also the framework is somehow screwed.
The new OTA (rolling out today should fix many of the bugs)

Anyone noticing bugs w/ Launcher Pro?

Launcher Pro is by far my favorite launcher application but I have noticed a few bugs with it on my Vibrant lately. I know it's Launcher Pro causing them because my device doesn't duplicate them when running stock TouchWiz or ADW Launcher.
Bug #1 - When activating GPS it causes the entire phone to freeze and sometimes restart.
Bug #2 - Sometimes apps will not launch at all until I reset my device. If I click on a app it closes will open and close within 1 second.
Has anyone else experienced these bugs?
Been using LP for a few weeks now and haven't noticed either of those bus. In fact, LP has given me no problems at all.
I've had LauncherPro installed since the day I purchased my phone in mid-July. Experienced none of these bugs. I don't think it's LP-related on your end.
The dialer also does not connect to an in call dialer. If you get a phone call and exit out of the dialer, you cannot get back to that dialer. When you click your dialer application, it gives you a fresh dialer acting like no one is connected.

If you pull down on the notification bar, and then press on the green phone icon, it will take you back to your call that is already in progress.
I'm using launcher pro and I've also experienced both of the issues mentioned in the OP. I've been using LP almost since day one, so I can't say whether or not they're LP bugs specifically. The app launching issue I've noticed more with Handcent than any other. On the GPS issue, I don't have any of the "fixes" applied, so it's not that. I'm thinking about reloading a completely stock ROM to see if that might fix it.

LP since July 15th... absolutely no issues.
what other things have you done to the phone? Rom? Lag Fix? Etc?

I'm still on the stock rom. No lag fixes, gps fixes, etc. It's rooted, but that's about it.

I don't notice any bugs with LP but I mostly use the stock launcher. Just not a fan of the stock android look...
I do notice one bug in ADW launcher though which I use from time to time and that's the scrolling of the home screens. Sometimes I'll try to flick to the next screen and all it'll do is bounce and stay on the same screen. I had this some problem on the mytouch slide so I know it's not a vibrant issue.
YES! I AM EXPERIENCE CONTINUOUS REBOOTS!
My Epic 2.1.1 rooted with 'one-click' method seemed fine for a day. But once I installed LauncherPro, the device stared to reboot continously every 30sec.
I had to go into recovery mode and wipe/factory reset!
Any ideas?
^ did you try and install a system app? Only way I can see that possible... would have absolutely nothing to do with LP.
My launcher pro is working great. I bought the pro version though, thought I might add that launcher was updated today the 3rd.

Yeah, I am LOVING the new twitter widget.. only going to get better.
I've had no problems with LP, but I have with ADW. When opening the tray it keeps, for the lack of better words rebooting the tray. It will show the zoom in effect like 3-5 times before it loads the tray.
My phone is rebooting every 30sec once again! DAMN!
After the first bout, I re-rooted using one-click method, installed supseruser and titaniumbackup, then proceeded to restore all new app+data...
I stayed away from LP, but I went with ADW.Launcher. As far as system apps, I dont believe I installed anything like this; what would be an example of a system app?
I was good for one day, and then this morning, it seemed fine but the batt was very low. After plugging in the charger.... a few min later, this reboot cycle began!
I am on my 3rd recovery wipe/factory reset now.
Anyone else experience this or have recommendations?
I have a bug where it doesn't size live wallpapers properly when changing to landscape mode and the keeps the off size when rotating back to portrait. A dealbreaker for me since I love my lw's

Gmail crashing

Am I the only one? Just started to happen.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I have had this since updating to ICS. The problem seems to pop up when you press on a notification message to go into an email app, particularly Gmail. Once you get the problem, you have to reboot for it to really go away. I've stopped pressing on the notifications to go into email and that has appeared to help, but my main account is not Gmail so I'm not using Gmail regularly to know for sure. Also, if you are using the Gmail widget, some people say that, after the ICS update, you should remove the old Gmail widget from your homescreen and add it again.
Have you guys try wiping data for the Gmail app
Yes, works for ASUS email app, but doesn't do anything for Gmail.
Thanks for the heads up
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I'm having the same issue... has anyone found any solid fixes? If not, maybe pressure should be put on ASUS to remedy the issue, they clearly didn't get the update quite right.
My Gmail app crashes (actually 'hangs' would be a better description of what happens with mine), but never so badly that I have to reboot -- usually just a force close inside settings does the trick for me.
Ditto. So many bugs in this ICS update. No help from Asus yet.

I've found that when using the wake lock app, not only does it prevent the random reboots, etc, but Gmail seems to behave as well. Soon as I disable wake lock, its not long until gmail acts up

"Fixed Permissions" ?? Howto?
Yeah, I'm seriously considering going back to HC. ICS seems more snappy but that becomes moot when we have RR's, SOD's and gMail crashing left and right.
What a shame. ICS on my *unsupported* SGS runs like a charm. WTF happened that on a device which gets an "official" ICS has such great problems..

Recently, I've noticed that the Messaging app will automatically set itself as the default SMS app. I don't like the Messaging app, I don't want to use it. How am I able to stop this from occurring?

This happens to me constantly. I want to use hangouts as my default messaging app, but it randomly (or so it seems) switches back to the stock messaging app. I did notice that when this happens it also switches back to the original lock screen (I use GO Locker now).
I thought about removing the messaging app (my phone is rooted), but I'm not sure how that would affect the phone. I also can't seem to find the app under the list of apps I could uninstall.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Don't freeze or remove the stock messaging app. I switched from ART runtime back to Dalvik, after reading that somebody experienced problems upon switching runtimes. Are you by chance on ART?
Edit - I also ought to mention that I haven't had it reset since I made the switch.

Cool, I'm glad I asked before I tried to do so.
As far as I know I am still using Dalvik runtime.

Switching to ART and then reverting to Dalvik would be my only suggestions then at that point. I hope it's resolved, I've been loving Messenger. [emoji14]

Facebook (lol) crashing a second loading app on news feed

Does anyone else experience this problem? I am on latest oxygen 2.1, tried with stock kernel and latest ak kernel and have xposed with few modules.
I have had facebook version 46 which had worked perfectly fine until the v47 update from the playstore..which had completely messed the app up. A TBU restore of my previous v46 does the same now...
A clean flash has been done and still problems persist..anyone know of a fix?

I have a similar issue though it lets me log in and read my feed but when I try to update status it closes on me. So now I've uninstalled the app and logged in through chrome (which has a similar ui appearance as the app does) and then I made a home screen short cut for my news feed. So its not a lot different than having the actual app. Honestly might be better for performance overall since the app is kind of a data/battery hog.
But I guess Ill ask if you have the issue with duplicate sms threads in Google messenger app. I had to switch to hangouts which works but just wondering if you have the issue and/or a fix.
I am also stock 2.1 but on stock kernel. Unrooted and locked bootloader.
Looks like it could be an issue with the Facebook app itself. Seems to be a lot of issues being reported after the last update. Mine is the same won't load.
Same problem here. Able to log in facebook app but it crashes the moment it goes to the newsfeed. clean wipe hasn't helped. :/

You can fix this by uninstall Facebook and install Facebook v46.0.0.26.153. I'm not able to post link on xda right now so just google it !
EDIT :
The beta version 49 seems to work too.
I guess it has to do with individual app permissions settings in OP2. Some apps will malfunction if they are not designed with some permissions restricted. Can you check it if all permissions are active for facebook app in settings?
I am also facing the same issue Facebook crashes just after logging in ....
alternate solution is download Facebook Lite from play store by the time issue get fixed

Facebook Lite is not available in France. So I use the v44 and it works.
it's a facebook issue, not a OPT issue. If you read in play store, many users have same problem and use other devices
Experiencing the same problem on my oneplus app crashes everytime i try to load news feed
It happened to me too. As a workaround, I've installed it from the Amazon app store and now it works.

Everything seems to be working fine for me as well.
Is anyone else getting notification chimes during playback of music? I'm getting one for play/pause, two when it goes forward a track or I skip, and three when I reverse a track.
Received the update notification & upgraded to Oreo. Now my Verizon S8± widgets aren't working correctly. Beautiful Widgets time gets stuck, Evernote widget is partially blank, & RealCalc widget won't respond at all. Upon waking the phone, the widgets have disappeared. I have to put the phone to sleep & wake it to set them to reappear, but they don't respond.
I've tried to re-install those apps with no success. I installed HD Widgets & got the same results. Any suggestions short of factory resetting it? Thanks in advance.
