Difference between the modelnummers? A2001, A2003, A2005 - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
so does anyone know the difference between the modelnummers A2001, A2003 and A2005? I have a OPT bought in China which says A2001 but in a review from theverge(i believe?) he said, he had the A2005 version. Does is really make a difference in terms of custom rom and stuff?
Can anyone provide informations to clear it up?
regards

From what I can see there will be three types of phones: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/three-oneplus-2-versions-spotted-a2001-a2003-a2005.319368/
A2001 - 16GB version
A2003 - 64GB version
A2005 - 128GB version
is yours the 16gb or 64gb version?

The information on the forum itself is unreliable speculation and should not be used as source unless it's posted by a OnePlus official.
As for the versions:
A2001 - Chinese model
A2003 - European and Asian model
A2005 - US model

A2005 is the 64GB North America version. Not 128.

Ah so it is just regional numbers then. That is fair enough.

Yep waterdroid is correct - it's region based SKUs.

so will this affect rom development? as in A2005 roms can be used on a2003?

I think the differences are in the band support of 3G and 4G networks

EU/Asia
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20
TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41
3 and 20 are used almost all over Europe, but not at all in North America. Band 8, although available in both versions, is used in Europe and India but is seeing increasing adoption worldwide.
North America
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17
For NA, the removal of bands 3 & 20 allows us to add all the GSM bands you’ll need.
China
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: 1/2/5/8
TD-SCDMA: 34/39
TDD-LTE: 38/39/40/41
FDD-LTE: 1/3/7
The Chinese version will have very limited 4G compatibility in Europe and North America. More importantly, it only has one IMEI meaning you will not have dual-SIM capability outside of China. If you like having dual SIMs, do not buy the Chinese version.

I am from Israel outside of china! , using one plus 2 , A2001 , 64G , 2 sim working for me locally, and also was working for me in Turkey, and Kazakhstan, LTE activitie in all of them..

I need a front camera replacement, I've found them for each of the different models, and at varying prices. Are they all the same? should I just go for the cheapest one?

Galaxy Note II and Dual Sim

Hello,
Few weeks ago I saw on some website news and photos of a dual sim Galaxy Note 2. The market of the Dual sim is much more dynamic in Indian and china that's why the news said that this dual sim should be for china market and especially for China Unicom.
So would somebody have more consistent news about this dual sim : would it appear ? When ? Where ?
Best regards
Chinese market only
Hello, I already now but I did not see any confirmation if this news is fake or not.
Would it be SIM Unlocked in China, possibility to choose other language etc..
Hmm that would be interesting, especially if its the "international" one. I dont know what kind of cell service they use in china. Will it only work then in China or worldwide with standard GSM and 3G74G and so on?
I already a HTC Desire V bought in China (dual SIM) and it works perfectly in Europe in GSM and data. So from my point of view no difficulties in terms of compatibility.
And how can you determine if it's a real Samsung and no copy mb

Not sure to understand the meaning of your question :
First : the rumoiur and photos of the dual sim never been confirmed by Samsung
Second : if it is real and this dual SIM note 2 is released, don't worry I perfectly know where to buy an original one in China !

I'm from Indonesia and I want a dual SIM NOTE 2 !
But hopefully it's going to be CDMA and GSM network dual sim. Similar to HTC desire VC. But it would be good if the phone is capable to register to 3G of each network (EVDO and HSPA).
Sadly, there's not much news of it now. Maybe they scrapped the idea because it's just too power hungry.

Dual sim Galaxy Note 2 have two different types of version. One from China Unicom, it support for WCDMA/GSM. The other one from China Telecom, it support for CDMA/GSM.It's release date in mid-October.
So, does it mean that the wcdma/china Unicom is not compatible with European network, and the CDMA/china telecom is ok,for,European network ?
Other question : do you have a Link to these informations ?

modem hack for Chinese OPO to enable 3G

I thought I might post this in its own thread as it might save people time when they get their Chinese OPOs and notice WCDMA doesn't work..
For all those who don't know, the Chinese OPO does not support WCDMA/FDDLTE in its stock software configuration. You need to swap out the modem to a hacked modem in order to get the feature to work.
I believe the modem attached was pulled from a Find 7, I've tested it, it works. It has been running pretty well for the last week or so but I'll have to test it over the coming weeks to see how reliable it is. They claim 2G/3G but no 4G. 3G/2G works.

can you please explain step by step procedure for same?
so your saying that the chinese and world versions of the opo are the same hardware wise and its just a software modem difference?

I have chinese OPO using on T-Mobile in Hungary. 2G/3G/4G are working out of the box, just for you information.
So for three in the UK the Chinese opo might not work at it's best?
Edit: did some research for myself and it will work fine.
As I saw in one of threads on OPO forums it was explained that chinese version do not support only WCDMA band 4.
According to the wiki (UMTS_frequency_bands) this band is used only by following operators:
North America: USA(T-Mobile US, Cincinnati Bell, i wireless), Canada (Eastlink, Mobilicity, Vidéotron, Wind Mobile)
Latin America: Chile(VTR, Nextel), Colombia(TIGO, Movistar), Uruguay(Ancel), Perú(Movistar, Nextel)
The question is can the modem be flashed to support missing WCDMA band 4?
I just flashed the modem on my Chinese OPO and it works flawlessly with China Unicom's 4G service.
Has anyone tried to flash the CM11S factory image and see if that radio activated the bands? The CM11S factory image includes radio images, and I believe is flashed together as a whole.
Yes. Would like to know if the 1700 and 2100 frequency are activated after flashing the modem.

This is the hacked modem for China OPO that supports China Unicom networks.
I have made cwm zip for easiler install as CM would override the modem during OTA upgrades.
This modem comes from the chinese oneplus forum. See link: http://www.oneplusbbs.com/thread-429139-1-1.html
Code:

I have tried other networks with the modem from the ColorOS or CM rom, seems there is no restriction on WCDMA for other networks.

A few things,..
1. I've been lead to believe from various sources that the Intl. and Chinese versions of the OPO are in fact almost identical hardware wise.
see: http://www.gizchina.com/2014/06/12/differences-international-chinese-oneplus-one/
2. I don't have a 4G subscription in China so I cannot confirm whether or not it works with this modem hack.
3. I bought my Chinese OPO from a reseller here in China on Taobao. When I received it I immediately flashed it over to CM11s and subsequently had no 3g (I use WCDMA network China Unicom FYI) for a few days until I found the hacked modem on the Chinese OPO forums. As for those of you who are not in China, I've heard that many Int. resellers will complete this process for you so you won't need to do any flashing yourself, but I can't generalise for all of the sellers out there.
4. I cannot confirm is whether or not this is only some kind of restriction for Chinese wcdma networks (China unicom). I haven't as yet taken my OPO out of this country and tried an international sim card so that is yet to be determined.
ThExSenatoR> I'm curious about your phone configuration perhaps you could post which modem version you use printed from the about screen??
sasalove> are you saying that the Chinese OPO will work outside of China on other wcdma networks but will not work inside China on China Unicom with the stock modems from coloros and CM?
can anybody who uses China unicom on 4g confirm which modem you use and if you also had to flash a different modem in order to access the service?
With some testing, I'm quite confident to conclude the restriction for 3G is on China Unicom only. I got my CMHK and one2free sim to confirm it. I can use 3G and 4G without issue in HK.
I occasionally travel to mainland and I got both China Mobile and China Unicom 3G sim. Only the hacked modem got China Unicom 3G and meanwhile the CM modem cannot connect to the TD-SCDMA for China Mobile.
I'm still waiting for my 4G China Mobile to test TD-LTE...
So in any case, I decide to flash this hacked modem, as it seem to work for all to date...

The modem that come with CM11 should have WCDMA band 4 (1700 MHz) and should also have LTE band 4 (1700 MHz) and band 17 (700b MHz). According to the spec, the difference is supporting TD-SCDMA band 34 (2010-2025 MHz) / TD-LTE for band 39 (1900 MHz) for China. Other than that the spec matches both side.
Therefore, if anyone need band 4 and band 17, they should use the modem that come with CM11 which lack in the Chinese modems.

Thanks mate for clearing that up for me! So it seems that this restriction is only for China Unicom, why might that be I wonder? to my knowledge, It's not like the Chinese OPO's are being sold by China mobile directly...
I'd still like to test out 4G for China Unicom but I would like to find a cheap deal to do it. I can never seem to fully understand the mobile plans in China anybody got any suggestions as to how I might find a plan with a decent amount of data (at least 300mb) for less than 100yuan a month ??

Are we certain that the Chinese OPO has the EXACT SAME hardware as the international OPO sold by One plus?
I remember reading people claiming either side.
Just want to make sure that they indeed have the exact same hardware ie. Radio/modem and just need to have different ROM/modem firmware flashed to enable different bands ie. Band 4 (1700) in my case.
There is a newer hacked modem available. The author states the modem is based on CM12S while supporting all 3G/4G in China. Another user claims to test all of the network modes.

Cheers mate! On another note, can anyone confirm what their wifi/cellular peformance is like with either the original or hacked modems? Since I've pretty much only used the hacked modem (the one I posted at the start of the thread), I can add that performance wise, it's significantly worse than my computer and old iPhone 5 when using the wifi from my bedroom. Where I sit in my bedroom I get consistent full reception on my computer and used to get the same on my iPhone 5, on my OPO I get 1 or 2 bars at most irrespective of whether or not I use 2.4ghz or 5ghz...
Anyone else experience similar?

OnePlus Two LTE Bands unlocking

Hello!
I've bought a Chinese version of OP2 and it seems to be doesn't have Band 20 LTE support (800 MHz). :crying:
And I was wondering if it's possible to unlock the band like for OPO?
That's not known yet, but I've got my doubts.
I was scared as you after see that I bought the chinese version which doesn't have the 800mhz; but I checked on this site if my phone will work on the LTE of my carrier:
http://www.willmyphonework.net/
Fortunately it works. The real problem is that the chinese version, having only one IMEI, doesn't allow the use of dual sim outside of the China.
Hope your LTE works!

I like use the band 800 in México LTE.
One person respond my question and the process to ONO no function.
Do you have information about other team/member working in this topic?
I followed the same procedure as oneplus two, but stuck on drivers installation.
Would be glad to have a solution on this.
I really need this I have messed up... I had to use a post forwarding service so I found a US one and I live in norway and got the US model.. I have asked if I can trade it for a EU one but they can't because of their policies.. Anyone know what band I need for it to work on LTE in Norway?

I think you can find something interesting reading information below:
With the OnePlus 2, we’ve taken some extra steps to ensure that our device works flawlessly in all the markets we support. A crucial component (no pun intended) is bands support. As you may be aware, LTE bands across the world differ significantly for various reasons (let’s talk about why that is some other time) and certain hardware restrictions make it so that you can only support so many bands in one device.
Thus, there is a trade-off between having all the bands and manufacturing complexity - the more bands you want to support, the more region-specific SKUs you have to create. We opted to make two different versions for two different regions - one EU/India, and one that we call North America. These are both OnePlus Global phones; they ship with Oxygen OS and the proper band support for your region. Besides those, there’s also the Chinese version that ships with Hydrogen OS and Chinese LTE support - this one is not available on oneplus.net (and is almost certainly the version you will get if you buy from anywhere else).
Here’s a breakdown of the differences (for EU/NA, bands in bold only available on that version):
Note that compatibility here refers to LTE, the fastest network currently available. The slower 2G/3G GSM frequencies (below referred to as GSM and WCDMA) are less fragmented and you should be able to get data almost worldwide with the included 2&3G bands regardless of the version. Use http://www.willmyphonework.net/ for easy reference.
EU/Asia
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20
TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41
3 and 20 are used almost all over Europe, but not at all in North America. Band 8, although available in both versions, is used in Europe and India but is seeing increasing adoption worldwide.
North America
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17
For NA, the removal of bands 3 & 20 allows us to add all the GSM bands you’ll need.
China
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: 1/2/5/8
TD-SCDMA: 34/39
TDD-LTE: 38/39/40/41
FDD-LTE: 1/3/7
The Chinese version will have very limited 4G compatibility in Europe and North America. More importantly, it only has one IMEI meaning you will not have dual-SIM capability outside of China. If you like having dual SIMs, do not buy the Chinese version.

Here is procedures to unlock LTE bands in Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. Both mobiles (Xioami and OP2) built same processor so maybe this method is for us. I did not tried it yet.

XT1687 - Can US be used internationally?

I recently purchased this phone via NE and was told when I was abroad that the sim/phone cannot be used there? Is there actual region locking on this device/anyone know if it can be overcome? It wasn't stated anywhere (it says it works with US carriers, not that it doesn't work anywhere else)
The device is not locked in any way, but the limitation is that the US phone does not support all the bands required for data connection. You'll want to find out what radios your carrier uses, and see if the phone supports them. PhoneArena has a great layout. of the bands the phone supports.
As said the only thing you have to check is the frequencies your carrier uses... I bought mine in the US as well and I'm using it in Brazil with no problems
The US model doesn't have dual SIMs.

Hmm. The one I bought on Amazon appears to support dual Sims. But I do not have a second Sim to test.

Amazon page says it has MicroSD. It's either MicroSD OR dual sim, not both, right?
this would lead me to think it does NOT have dual sim.

I have BOTH and there is the space in the tray to install two sims plus sdcard. Instructions even include it.
All the documentation and every review includes two plus sdcard.

Thanks all!
Thanks for all the replies, looking like the folks who told me it wouldn't work are wrong!

Be careful. The US version is not equipped for 2 SIMs. Motorola stupidly included instructions for the international dual SIM version in the US box, and it's apparently causing problems as people are damaging their SIM cards trying to install following the wrong directions.

While it does not have dual sim trays. The answer is yes! You can use it internationally. You just have to swap sims. Yes the second slot is only for sd cards.

I can confirm this as I have the chinese model. There's differences in the way the dual sim card works too, or so I've read.
The easiest way to check the different buddy, is to go to www.pdadb.net
Search for the P10 Plus and observe the number of models that come up AL00 and VKY-L29 (etc). Just read both of their spec sheets and you'll see the differences.
RoOSTA
So now I got a Chinese version, and I would like to flash an international version ROM, which one should I use? My model said VKY-AL00, should I download the ROM of VKY-L29 (as it said Asia pacific)..thx
huawei p10 plus supports full active?
