for CDMA use? or for GSM?
assuming your refering to the VM cdma 816...
as for GSM,seems the phone is either too well locked down,or lacking the correct physical hardware. at the end of the unlocking thread, there was a post stating that the phone had errors after attempting to add GSM bands. i went thru every process i could find a few days ago, without any success. i could not even get to a point that the phone didnt give me the sim card error. i finally gave up and sold it to a friend to use on virgin mobile.
there are a couple people using a cdma sim,and that seems to be working fine. so you may be able to add something there.
if youre refering to adding bands to a gsm model,id venture to guess that would be possible, and am interested also to hear anyones experience with that.

Thank you for sharing. I was referring to adding gsm lte bands to European model desire 816 need Canadian frequencies

well i want to make sure before i buy the phone
You can use the Desire HD if it is unlocked on 2G and EDGE not 3G due to the difference in frequencies

HTC inspire 4g (Desire HD At&t ?)

Is this the at&t version? If so I can not wait.

Looks like it. Plus this one has 4G antennas.

4g ? So this means it is diffirent hardware? Like the difference betwn gsm and cdma?

It's still GSM but supports the upcoming 4G LTE. It should work on European networks, but only at 2G speeds, just like the DHD works on US GSM networks.

Why not just release Desire HD for the whole world? Why restrict it to EU and then make a slightly different one with a different name for US? Weird... s:
Because North Americans like to be "unique"
Is not us north Americans who want to be unique, In this case AT&T wants to have its way as always and restrict the phone and add their usual brand crap. If only HTC would sell it US VERSION UNLOCKED I would pay 600 for it.
I think the mentality is different in the US. People don;t usually buy SIM free phones at the full price there. Most get locked in a contract in which you get a free phone.
Moreover, the US uses different 3G bands than the rest of the world (except Telstra).
HTC Inspire (AT&T) is in FACT a Desire HD (ACE).
There will be plenty of good firmware available for it, including CM7.

The inspire is not a desire HD, for starters its a 4G device, so it will need totally diffrent radios, as for roms, i wouldnt be suprised if it had a revised hardward setup meaning it will need its own roms...

Cross Carrier

Can I put the sim from my tmobile htc glacier in n e android carrier phone as long as its rooted? Like the Thunderbolt for example
HTC Glacier, cm7/Ice Glacier, 1.6ghz, 16gsd, 2300 Quadrant, Rooted Splash, Nexus 1 boot
I didn't think Verizon used sim cards, could be wrong, but they use a different network so I doubt it's possible. Should be possible with something like the atrix though.
Cant put it in the tbolt. It has a sim for 4g lte only. It is still a CDMA phone.

Basically just T-Mobile and att phones but data probpy will be slow

Not necesarily android, and also it must be unlocked, not just rooted (assuming it IS an android)
Yes, verizon sim cards are only for LTE data, and if you put it in ATT you will only get EDGE because of different 3g bands. Just clarifying all the I thinks and maybes.

[Q] Is their any way to use CDMA sim in I5801 ?

Hello Everyone.. Need an Help. I want to know is their any way to use an CDMA sim in Galaxy 3 ?
I don't think you will be able to use cdma sim as frequencies used in our phone and the sim are different (a lot).
This is why the same phone is released twice (once gsm and other cdma) in some countries where cdma is used more
T mobile 3g frequency in america is about 100 Mhz more than what most of phones over there can operate at. That is why it lost popularity.
If there was a way why would phones have a limit to their frequecies

Do CDMA phones even use Sims? I'm pretty sure the network is built in to the phone.

Good successors with SIM

I love my Desire Z but it's getting old and slow. I noticed that many cool new qwerty phones are being released in the USA like the Motorola Photon Q and the new Samsung galaxy Relay. Here in Europe, phones work with sim cards. I could be wrong in this, but I noticed that all these new phones have their sim-card soldered on the board, so I couldn't use it with my own provider if I wanted to.
Are there currently any worthwhile qwerty Android phones (at least a good dual core) out there or coming soon that have a SIM card slot?
The galaxy relay is GSM and has a sim slot

Sweet! I see it has been rooted, as well. I'll pick one up next time I'm in the States.
Make sure to check the bands so you'll know if it runs on your carrier
