Remapping Volume - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With root or a custom Rom, would it be possible to instruct the Nvidia Shield TV volume up/down to somehow bypass the system volume and instead control a usb IR blaster which would then give a signal to my audio receiver? I like the volume controls on my Nvidia remote but wish they would control my receiver. I don't have CEC either.

Anyone? Thoughts?

I've been looking for the same. I can't believe that not all home theater remotes today don't contain at least basic universal remote technology. My main concern is Plex which I can get volume control to work if I put it in stereo but that defeats half the reason (DD and DTS) for owning the Shield. Coming from the Sony GS7 I'm disappointed that I can't properly control volume.
Most recommendations say to use a harmony but then you give up the voice search and the headphone jack. I'll keep searching though as I do really like the Shield box. I'm also going to try with the Flirc as I know people have used that with the Nexus Player but I'm not sure if the Shield volume controls will translate.

Does iPhone headphone with inline remote work on N1

Does the headphones which come with the iPhone 3GS with the in line remote (play/pause/ volume) work on the nexus one? Does the microphone work?
i don;t know, but the inline ones that come in the box with play, pause, fast forward and rewind do....
I was just asking because I have some Scosche In ear headphones which has the iPhone inline remote. Sound quality will no doubt be better than the supplied headphones, just wondered it the remote/mic will still work in a Nexus One
i honestly don't know.
Does your inline set have a collar around the 3.5 mm jack like sony's used to? or is it just the 3.5mm jack on there?
If it's just a 3.5mm jack on it, then there's a possibility if there is any sort of standard for those controls, but i would have expected Apple to use their own way of doing things....No doubt HTC have on the Nexus one as well
I tried to find the comment, but yesterday I read that a user had his iPhone headset with inline remote work fine but without volume control (the HTC inline remote doesn't adjust volume from what I can tell).
according to ryan block the button works but volume control doesnt

[Q]-Adjusting sound of HDMI out

Hi folks. For the Iconia 500, is there a way to adjust the volumes of HDMI audio out? When I plug it into my TV, it plays as max volume or it can be muted. I noticed there is no in between. I'd like to adjust the volume out on the tablet itself rather than the TV. Is this possible? The volume I played with, including in-app volumes, seemed to do nothing.
As far as I know, HDMI send digital audio to your TV. It is like sending audio data to your TV instead of signal for analog. When you TV receive the data, it will decode it to signal to the speaker. It is your TV's task to decide the volume to speaker when it send signal to it.
So same to the blu-ray player and set-top-box using HDMI, you only can control volume on your TV.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
That's what I was afraid of. Oh well. There's non lazy ways of living with it but I was curious if anything could control the actual output itself from the Iconia prior to the TV coming into play.

[Q] Volume control over Toslink?

Hi,
I'm thinking of switching from having my Nexus Q drive my speakers directly to connecting it to an external amp through the optical Toslink output. However, I wouldn't want to use another remote for volume control.
Is anybody using the optical Toslink out and can confirm if the Q volume control still works over that or if it always carries maximum level?
Many thanks!
Found the answer myself: Toslink volume control can be switched on/off in the advanced settings in the Nexus Q app.

Volume control

Maybe a stupid question.... Is there any way to control the volume with the standard remote?
volume is controlled by the device the nexus player is connected to (ie a TV or amp).
so no, the nexus remote as no volume control as its not the nexus player that is in control of the volume.
Too bad, now have to go back from one rc to two again.

Depending on your setup your TV / Receiver/ Universal remote might control the NP. If you have and can turn on HDMI CEC this may work.
My receiver will turn on my TV when I power it on and the receiver remote controls the NP.
Yeah, might be an idea... Downside is that you miss out on the nice voice option.

Where can I buy a Volume remote

Hello I was wondering if someone knew where I could buy a volume and media playback remote type thing, that can connect to my nexus 7 that is installed in my car. Since my car doesn't have steering wheel buttons, I find it hard to change the volume. So a hardware buttons would be much easier.
Thanks
