Sideload Android App onto Win 10? - Windows 10, 8, 7, XP etc.

Anyone know if it is possible to sideload android apk into win 10 (non mobile)?
I notice that there is a sideload function inside the developers settings but not sure if the intention is to enable side loading of android app?
Or anyone know of anyways to load APK into a universal windows app so that you can run them in win 10?
Regards,
Tok

You don't need Windows 10 to run Android apps on PC.
You can use chrome, or run Android on VM like Windows 10 Mobile do.

How to browse root files with Ubuntu?

Hi.
I have one, maybe stupid, maybe not, question.
My OS on home computer is Ubuntu 10.10 and my OS mobile device is Android. Mobile device info is in my signature.
I instaled Android SDK, Java and Eclipse properly and everything work fine but my question is how to browse files into my mobile root folder from computer?
Thanks in advance.
You may be able to do it using DDMS within Eclipse. It may not work though, with it being a ported build. It works for some, but not others (not mine )

I started DDMS from terminal.
Best regards.
Glad you got it working

How To Install PhoneGap Build .xap On Developer Unlocked Phone

Hello...
I just set up a Windows Phone developer account and registered my phone (HTC 8x) as a developer unlocked phone.
I have build an app with PhoneGap build and I can download the .xap, but I have yet to figure out how to install it.
Using a QR Reader asks if I want to search the store for something to open the file.
I've seen tutorials on how to build a PhoneGap app within Visual Studio.
I haven't seen any means of installing it from PhoneGap Build, though.
Any ideas?
JJ
The SDK installs a tool called Application Deployment on your PC. Run that, connect your phone via USB, and use it to sideload the XAP.
Man, it would be great if you could install them directly from the PhoneGap site (like iOS and Android - I haven't tested Blackberry).
Having to do it from a computer that has, at least, a Core i5 CPU and Visual Studio is kind of jacked.
Also, I can only have 3 developer devices on my account.
Apple allows 99, I think.
Of course, Android doesn't even require to to register a device (just turn on the "install unapproved apps" feature.

You do not need SLAT (i5 CPU) to side load things.
That is for emulators only.
There is homebrew to do that on WP7. We'll just have to figure out a way on WP8. It's not very hard, once we can get the needed permissions.

Well, that's handy to know.
It would still be nice to not require Windows 8 and Visual Studio just to install an app.

And don't need to be a W8, you can install xap's on Windows 7.

Has anyone been able to do this on Windows 7 x64 machine ? I am sure I am just missing something...
I downloaded "Windows Phone Power Tools" after installing .NET 4.5 but, it just gives me an error of "Unable to install or run the applications. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.SmartDevice.Connectivity version 11.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Accembly Cashe (GAC) first." when I attempt to run it..
As most of us know, SDK 8.0 REQUIRES Windows 8, I would love to be able to install XAPs on Windows 7 so I don't have to reboot my PC to use my Windows 8 partition just to install a quick XAP time to time. I can't download or find where to download the full install to extract a few fles as said in the directions...
Any idea to get this installed ?
I didn't get it working with my Windows 7 workstation.
I have a Windows 8.1 laptop, so I just use it.
Being able to do it at work would be nice, though.

Try install SDK7.1

Or use VMware and create a virtual machine with the above requirements.

You can install the WP8 SDK on Windows 7...it works just fine. The secret that Microsoft doesn't want you to know is that the WP8 SDK can be installed on Server 2008 R2...Server 2008 R2 is based on Windows 7 x64. Therefore, it will work with no issues.

[Q] Trouble Installing Windows 8.1 HELP

I have windows 8, I noticed Microsoft had a free windows 8.1 update. I can't see the update, when I download a windows 8.1 tool by microsoft that allows me to download it it tells me that my pc does not meet the requirements. My laptop had windows 7 but I decided to go with Windows 8 Pro and it runs perfectly fine. I really need help installing this so I can get access to the store please help.
I'm no pro by any means, but I had trouble installing 8.1 on my surface. Make sure that you have all of the updates before you attempt. Sometimes you have to shutdown and restart, so the updates can install. That's where I had my problems. even though it should shutdown and restart, sometimes it doesn't.
Or you may have some scheduled updates that you need to update now. I hope that helps. ... it's a pain.

You can see the update of 8.1in the windows store.... But all you have to do is update your windows 8. The essential file of store has to be upgraded to avail 8.1 update visible. Once you update windows 8. Restart your pc and then check your store.. 99% you should see windows 8.1 update.
The reason that your system doesnot meet requirement is because of 64 bit OS. I recommend to go with 32 bit. 8.1 does not need a lot hitech configuration. So you can install it.

[Q] PLEASE HELP. I can't install any apps in windows store.

I really can not install any apps in windows store. It goes error again and again even though my internet speed is quite fast. I already checked my time, region and everything I did but all was no to avail. Anybody knows how to fix this issue or at least can I download manually apps using download manager? I am currently using Windows 10 technical preview after upgrading from windows 7. :crying:
I wouldn't be running anything on windows 10 yet. Id upgrade to windows 8.1 I'm presuming you're using a tablet? I'm running windows mobile 8.1 no issues regarding app download from windows app store. You could try opera browser that has a browser facility which lets you choose apps but still redirects to windows app store. Hope this helps

Android SDK Installation on Windows 10 mobile, possible?

Would like to emulate Android on my win10 phone. Not replace window 10 but rather run an emulated Android in windows 10. Possible?
End goal is run android apps under win10 mobile. I know it is a round about way but thought it might work since it is open source and you can do it under windows for desktop. Just tired of waiting for apps in the win 10 mobile store.
