I like using hangouts for my T-Mobile SMS.
I go the new hangout 4.0 today. I can't figure out how to pick which method a message is sent to a contact that has both SMS and Hangouts in their contact info. It seems like you must message them based on what ever the last incoming message was.. either SMS or hangouts..
Anyone?
Press the hangouts icon on the left of the message text, if the contact has SMS it will appear those numbers as well. Just select the one you want

I've recently installed Android on my HD2 and I absolutely love it. The one thing that isn't working 100% is the SMS inbox. Some messages appear 3-4 times and some are nowhere to be seen. Those are SMS I sent and received after installing so it's not a dodgy import. I'm using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7.
Any suggestions?

Are you talking about SMS or message in box of your xda account or your google mail inbox account? You don't call a text message as message inbox. Anything with message inbox that's an email. SMS is to use texting to send to another phone. MMS is to use picture or a short video clip to send to another phone.
My bad. In my own little world messages are SMS. Yesterday's SMS all seem to have been stored correctly. Maybe it was a one off. If anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

I can recommend using GO SMS Pro as opposed to the stock one,much better.
I've played around some more and installed Go SMS Pro, which is pretty cool. The problem with wrong SMS display persists though.
I think it's when I send SMS via the voice command of the google bar, they don't get stored correctly when I look at them in the history. For example I just sent a message via voice command but the content of the messages in Go SMS is wrong. It shows up with the same message text as the previous SMS I sent, or not at all. I haven't found anything on the problem anywhere. Does anybody have any Suggestions?
Morning everyone has anyone else experienced there messages in their inbox being out of order? I send a text and the message that shows up are the ones from my recipient i have to scroll up to see mines.

i'm having strange problem..
in my old s3 i was able in call log or contact list to swipe to left and to get msgs either to use sms or hangout or whatsapp.. or swipe to right to call ..
Now in my new s5 when i swipe to right it takes me to the next tap (in call log it takes me to fav contact if it to left for example) ..
anyone having this problem?
p.s: I had added call button to the call log menu by adding these line to other.xml:
<CscFeature_Contact_EnableCallButtonInList>TRUE</

OK i figured that it was disabled and can be re able in setting>contact> swipe to call or msg and check the checkbox..
but still it goes direct to hangout cuz i make it my defulte msgs app..
how to show all msgs apps like whatsapp?

Am I doing something wrong?
Normally I select image in the gallery, tap share, tap messaging app, search contact, tap send.
With Hangout additionally I have to choose account, tap new message. Process becomes longer.
Is there a faster way with hangout to share a multimedia message?

Yeah, just send a regular hangouts message... its just the same as an instant message. All your recipient needs is a Google account, and as such, you need their Gmail address
Actually i got this issue also on my nexus 5 but didn't know where to post it. since i got marshmallow it happens in messaging apps most common on whatsapp but also on sms. for example in whatsapp if i got a message on a group chat the first notification from a specific participant has notification sound but others from the same participant in a row doesn't. i do get the notification itself but without the sound. if one send message and another participant follows him i do get both sounds. in sms (using Google's messenger) if one send two messages in a row only first one has sound. i know it sounds real strange but this issue is very annoying.
