Samsung?!Why and what now??? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What and why Samsung you do this?
Until thill now we wait and was happy for new flagship release but now Samsung you just counthing money and sold phone?!
When you release few years ago phone they have new function and beaty now older phone have more choise then new.
When you see Note 4 vs Note 5 you will see more on Note 4 then on Note 5,small difference between this brothers.
I have S1,2,3,4 and then I go on Note line but after Note 5 I ask my self what now to buy when change Note 4???
#OFFICIAL No Note 5 for Europe, one more dissapoiting.
Best regards guys!!!

3000mah battery!!!! Samsung better fire som people!
Well . Thanks samsung for loosing a dedicated costumer!

Agreed. For the first time in 4 years, i missed live stream. Not interested at all. Samsung is just pushing their loyal customers away.

Bad bad and bad nothing new.
For me bigest dissapoiting is displey 518 ppi note 4 515 ppi and battery 3000mah note 4 3200mah,Samsung going down, self touchdown,NOCKOUT.

LG 4 pro looks interesting... They compared to iPhone 6 plus... Which has more memory and with the new iPhone coming out apple could kill Samsung.... And iPhone updates are way faster.. Goodbye Samsung or or may keep my note 4 for another year by then I may get update to 5.1.1...and they thanked loyal fans.... And they listened to what we want?

I agree man
Samsung please leave glass................ use metal or plastic but leave glass
I noticed that for the first time there is no difference in design or materials used for building both the Galaxy S6 & Note 5, same design & same stupid glass.
look to the design of S4 & Note 3 ........... there is a difference
S5 & Note 4 ........... there is a difference
This year I think Samsung missed & made such a stupid step back & it will cost Samsung a lot
Say No For Glass

Agree but Samsung made too many mistakes now like battery etc

Probably not a rare piece, but it just makes the Note 5's value proposition look that much worse!
Note 4s are going for about $300-400 right now and do a whole lot more despite being last year's model; why not just keep buying them? Perhaps Samsung will get the hint when last year's model outsells this year's model by a significant margin.
As for me, I'm not even going to sell mine; I'll just keep rocking it 'til it dies.

You said it.
Suggest Samsung should come up with 3 Note models every year and deliberately tag them officially as below:
Samsung Note Classic
Samsung Note Sheep
Samsung Note Floosy Edge
Never change the Classic model on the core features, yes improve and evolve the design.
For Sheep and Floosy variants, go and fsck yourself and do whatever it takes to keep the drunk suites happy.

If they wanted to carry experiments, they should have done on edge version only. Damn why they don,t realize that note users want bigger battery n microsd.

Because the note users you talk about would probably buy less units than sheep that just don't care about tech specs .

Some more like hole damn department they seriously goof and just got lazy with the note 5 build . Instead they just use galaxy s6 plus mold and just reversed the screen.

Agree with this thread. I have had the note 2, 3, and just bought the 4. Bought the note 4 only because of what they were doing with the 5. Unless they get rid of the glass back I won't buy another one. I love my note phones but don't like the direction they are going now with glass back, non removable battery, and no SD card. If they wanted something premium seems like they could have gone with leather like LG or some other premium material that would at least let the back be removable.
Interested in the LG g4 pro but the display in their LG line doesn't seem to be as vibrant as Samsung's but will have to see what it looks like when it comes out. BUT for now will enjoy my note 4 as long as I can.

Nexus 4 or galaxy 3?

Hello, this is my first post as I have just sold my ip5 and moving over to android. The poor performing maps and siri were the straw that broke this camels back. I don't have the time and confidence that apple may get it up to googles standard, especially not on a device that costs over £500.
I have never owned an android before but would love some advice as to whether my first one should be a nexus 4 or samsung galaxy S3.
I intend to use it for games and photos etc. so performance is a huge factor for me.
Thanks for all advice in advance.
I am selling my galaxy s3 for the nexus. The nexus is faster, smoother, will have better updates and also will have build quality closer to the iPhone.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Um well the Galaxy 3 is an old low end device. Not good at all. The Galaxy S3 however is a different story.
Both are quad core phones. So both should be plenty fast. We can't say the exact performance of the Nexus yet as it hasn't been released and the software is still in beta. The Nexus does cost only half the S3 so that's worth keeping in mind
*samsung Galaxy S3!
Haha Galaxy 3 is a very old android
Get The Nexus.
Wait until the N4 is in shops and then go and see both in person - the issue with posting here is that people are likely to tell you to go for the N4...Personally, I don't like the S3's design - the buttons are too low to be comfortable to use with one hand
Get the nexus
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
The s3 has all the (potential) downsides of he N⁴ covered; removable battery, sd card, bigger storage and LTE. If (one/some of) these are important/crucial to you get the galaxy s3. If not, I'd say go for the N⁴.
P.S. AFAIK the s3 will take better pics, but IMHO the difference isn't big enough to warrant choosing it over the N⁴. This is based off of my memory of reviews, not personal experience.

Seconded, especially if we're talking off-contract.
Like others I am buying the N4 (currently have S3) and will likely be selling my S3 shortly after.
The S3 is a VERY nice phone, I almost have no complaints about the phone itself. For me the problem is myself, I get bored and want a new phone. Add in the amount of dev for a Nexus device compared to an AT&T locked phone, and getting updates first, I'm sold. Then tell me its only $350 vs the $550 I paid for the S3... well gee
I am actually taking a detour in between to try out the Note II or maybe even a Lumia 920 this Friday when they hit AT&T stores, but again just out of boredom / I'll make a little money on it (buying @ upgrade price and sell) and possibly to try out WP8 just for something different.
Nexus 4 IMHO :good:
Dude, we can't tell you what to buy. It's your choice.
If you don't mind Samsung's touch wiz and you want/need micro SD, removable battery, bigger screen, or 4g, by all means, go with Galaxy
If you want stock Android, up to date software and hardware, and you want that "nexus" experience, nexus 4 will suit you very well

Worth switching from Note II?

If there already was a giant thread on this I do apologize but I couldn't find it.
Anyway I currently have a Note II but don't use any of the S-Pen features and actually came to dislike the size of the phone. So if there is anyone out there that did make the switch: is it worth selling this Note and buying the S4 outright?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
There are some people that swear the Note 2 is better. I have both in my home. Used both side by side for days. Just the size of the Note 2 alone makes me gag. I love my S4. No comparison in my OPINION. That's just me. Just the fluidity and functions alone are so much better. The screen is absolutely brilliant. Once custom roms come along it'll be nuff said.

I Upgraded to the S4 from the Note 2. The issues i had with the note were that even with its size i still could not use it as an e-reader/tablet like i wanted too, i also did not use the spen nearly as much as it was made for. With that said i had no reason to stay with a larger device. On top of the screen and camera on the S4 i am able to carry it much more comfortable in my pocket because of the lightweight slim frame.
Thanks guys, the unfortunate thing is I'm on Verizon and I'm probably going to be looking at a couple months before they can crack the bootloader and custom ROMs are actually available.

I have a brand new note 2 barely used interested in a trade?
I sold my 7 month old Note 2 & bought this AT&T I337. I love the S4, but I wish I'd got one that doesn't have the locked bootloader.
I switched from the note 2. The only reason i really did it was because someone offered me $400 for my note 2. I had an upgrade so I pocketed $200. Other than that.. I don't think the upgrade is really significant. Especially when the note 2 gets most of the S4 functions.

Should I sell my S4? Help please!

I have the i9500 variant and my friend who has a note 2 asked if I wanted to trade. I know Note 3 is very near so even if I get the Note 2 I'd have to sell it instantly. I am on vacation in India and checked the prices.
Galaxy S4's, new ones cost about 35,000INR. Used ones sell for about 30,000INR.
Note 2's sell for 31,000INR. Used Note 2's sell at about 18,000INR.
I checked how iPhone was doing and saw.
iPhone 4S 16GB, new costs about 25,000 and used costs 20,000.
iPhone 4 16GB, new costs about 37,000INR and used for about 35,000INR.
So I am in a dilemma. I have about $60 worth of accessories with my S4 which I'd obviously giveaway. I do not wanna invest 10,000 more and buy a current highend device. I am eyeing the Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra but they say the display isn't nice. And Sony resale/support isn't good. HTC One is nice too but I think its expensive and HTC isn't good with updates.
So what should I do? How much should I sell my Galaxy S4 for? My friends offering me the Note 2 AND 15,000INR. So can anyone tell me how much would a 2 month old used Note 2 sell for?
Should I do it? If so, what should I replace my S4 with. I am thinking to get iPhone 4S and wait till Note 3 is out and sell iPhone 4S for Note 3.
I chose Apple cause they have good resale prices. I am thinking about getting the Nexus 4 too.. are their resale prices good too? betting on Nexus is risky as Google does price cuts wayyy often and there hasn't been a new Nexus in a while.
I need a good temporary phone that will sell well in about 3-4 months.
Opinions?
Note 2 is a bit of a niche phone. A lot of people can't deal with the size so obviously the s4 will have better resale value.
Unless there is a reason you don't want the s4 anymore then I'd just stick with that.

If i were you, id stick to my S 4 till the note 3's up for grabs.price wise, i see the galaxy s 4 price is still high tho it was released few months ago.But its your call mate, decide what suits you best.
I guess I'll keep S4. Note 2 internals are bad too... but for some reason it is tempting.
I do love my S4 though.

Note 2 internals are not bad they are just not as good as the s4. I do understand why you are tempted ... I have both phones and am finding it hard to sell one of them as they are both great. At the end of the day though the s4 is much more popular and will be easier to recuperate money on later.

As long as it gives you what you need... Theres no reason to change your phone...
I would definitely keep the S4. It's a fine device.
Weird that the iPhone 4s sells for less than the 4. Or maybe you got it the other way round.
But anyway, if you like the note 2 it wouldn't be such a bad idea considering he's also paying you cash on top. Personally I prefer the S4 and wouldn't trade for any available phone.

Wait for the Nexus 5, if its anything like the LG G2 looks and the same specs it will be the hottest device around running KLP.
I think you should keep S4 till the next generation. Think about it, you're changing your phone within less than a year!! S4 is still a beast device, so why not hold up with it a little more? I bet your warranty (if not rooted/unlocked) is still there!! Do you want my advice?
Wait for Note IV or something like this
Your device can still keep up with current generation and even further
Also, if you're really going to buy the Note III, sell the device to your friend, get a 50$ cheap one, and then buy the Note III! I think it's better than investing in a good phone and selling it later.

I think the problem is that they are flooding the market with too many similar devices. The group of people that this phone would appeal to recently bought the smaller model and can not upgrade yet. Luckily for me I am in my buyers remorse period. I am still not sure that I will buy this over the note 5.
i have galaxy s6 edge. i have family plan, i have upgrade available. There is NO "must-have" features that people want to buy this phone. where is the freaking usb 3.1 type c ? Since the screen is big like note4, why cant it displays Main and Edge screen at the same time like Note4 ?
so many ways samsung have messed up
1. Alienating buyers who buy a flagship - then a few weeks later another model comes out
2. prices
3. people want a sd card and bigger battery - and people wont mind extra thickness or better battery life
4. Competition - from other makers eg huawei -who do put in sd cards and decent batteries, and for the prices their
performance is more than decent. for a while notes strenght was the screen size but now others make big screens, AMOLED is not a USP
5. samsung getting cocky by thinking they have created a brand "note" and people will just go buy it....guess what samsung you arent apple!
6. no killer features eg motorola are putting in good batteries and good prices ...
i was upgrading phones yearly ever since the S2, all the way to S5, then the Note 4 last year, but don't think i'm gonna do it this year. i was really hoping they'd put the s pen on the edge+, but they had to separate them. i'm ok with no removable battery, I've had one on the note 4 ever since day one, but never really used it. i can live with no micro sd slot as well, but only if the 64gb version were less expensive, now the regular edge seems like a big bargain @ $750 for the 128gb (-$200 from T-Mobile). guess i'll have to wait until the note 6.
I think the biggest factors are Samsung divide the community with two phablets, there are some awesome phones coming out next month or so by google, and those with AT&T and Verizon learned a hard lesson with the note 4. Which is still yet to obtain permanent root ever...

[DISCUSSION] Should I Jump Ship?

I've had my Galaxy Note 4 for a while now and I'm starting to look at a few of the new flagships for 2016. The Google Nexus 6P looks very promising to have and looks like a great device overall. There's also the HTC 10 which will be released soon which also looks promising and will get plenty of development I assume.
Would anyone care to share your story? Should I purchase a Google Nexus 6P or wait for this years line up?
If you want to convince me to stay on the Note 4 I encourage you.

I am personally not leaving my Note 4 until it dies, or if the Note 6 brings back all the features I love that the Note5 **** on. I actually upgraded to the Note 5 and after 2 months decided it was not usable for me so I got a Note 4.
I personally can't live without 4 things the Note 4 has the Note 5 doesn't:
removable battery (Every phone I have owned in the past few years has been run with the ZeroLemon extended battery and rugged case)
MicroSD card slot (makes switching ROMs so much easier, I am a flashaholic)
IR Blaster (this one isn't as big as the other 2, but is still sooo nice to have and I see no reason any phone shouldn't have it)
Custom ROMs (The Note 5 being an Exynox only phone has not gotten any custom AOSP based ROMs yet, only stock based ROMs. Now, some of those ROMs are awesome, and even on my Note 4 I only run stock based ROMs because the AOSP ROMs don't work well enough with the SPen, but it is really nice to have the choice)
I would not buy the Nexus 6P, overall it looks like a good phone, but I am not the most gentle person with my phones, haven't broken one in a few years but I tend to drop them quite a bit and the 6P has some serious structural issues. Look up Jerryrigeverything's stress test video of the 6P on youtube. Huge disappointment for a Nexus device, and at that price.
I am confident the Note 6 will be too similar to the S7, no removable battery, possibly no IR blaster, it will probably have a similar style MicroSD card slot, but if it sucks like the S7 does, especially with the same style locked bootloader I will not be upgrading. The Note 4 is still an awesome phone, and we should be getting official MM within the next few weeks.

I update phones every year but since I considered the Note 5 a downgrade, I upgraded my Note 4 with another Note 4. I am no longer in the business if updating for the sake of updating. If the Note 6 doesn't bring back the SD card and IR blaster and be rootable [must have Viper4Android], I'll buy another Note 4. Samsung hit the sweet spot with the 4.
I used to update my phone all the time. But ever since Sammy turned its back on our community by locking the bootloaders (yeah yeah I'm sure it's the carriers fault don't care) I'll be sticking with my tmo note 4 running on att network. Note 6 looks cool but I need root and want the option to run custom roms. That and I need superior camera and for me note 4 is it. The new modular HTC phone looks interesting.

Is there really a OP3 in the making? The OP2 seems to have less of what was in the OPO
Just this morning I read an article on ArsTechnica (and as I glance to the right, apparently there's one to check out on the XDA Portal as well) on the next Nexus devices, reportedly to be built by HTC. I'd be pretty interested to see what those have to offer before upgrading my (still solid - the N4 is one device that I plan to keep rather than sell) phone. The 6P looks nice, but I'd be unwilling to sacrifice expandable storage... I'm hopeful that Google will allow(?) an SD slot in these upcoming devices due to N's new storage scheme.
Good luck whatever you decide!

I'm definitely waiting for this beast to come out. I've been a loyal fan of the galaxy series since the beginning, however the phones are too pricey and I need to explore other cheaper and reliable options in the future.
The Moto X Pure/Style is a 5.7" slim phone, same size as the Note 3 and Note 4.
Screen is as bright as the Note 4 in sunlight.
The bootloader is unlocked easily through Motorola and CM/AOSP ROM's are in abundance.
Phone works and is supported on all major carriers, including Verizon LTE.
Other than the Nexus 6P, it's really the only newer/good phone out that is 5.5" or larger screen size and has active development and works on ALL carriers.
I came from Note 3 and Note 4 and am happy with the phone.
Performance is about the same as Note 4 though.
I'm personally waiting to see what the next nexus looks like. Or I might jump on the HTC 10 if I get impatient. That should be a very ROM friendly phone

I understand upgrading every year to a newer model, but why upgrade to the same phone? I am still on Note 4 I got through a pre-order and it works just fine. Just curious.
I've had (since Jan) LG G4, Nexus 6p, OnePlusOne, and my Note 4. All other ones didn't come close to the Note.
The 6p was good, but the shoddy build quality and limited storage was a deal breaker for me.
The G4 was great, but locked bootloader and lack of a fingerprint scanner was blah.
As far as phablets go, the Note 4 is still the best you can get.

@MisterCoolBeans
Broad question but an interesting topic. Generally electronics and any other trades, there are years/releases/versions that hold value compared to years/releases/versions that are released as an illusion of an upgrade. Generally best value for the buck is to wait. Since from 1+ years you'll pay from 1/4 less to a fraction of retail. If your company pays for it it's another story. Look at any product/trade sold. New isn't always better, sometimes not just worse but actually costing you more than what use you get out of it. Advertisement/lies work thus advancement for centuries. If you are tempted by supposed improvement I say snap out of it & wait, rely on history. If you need a kick to approve your desire that might be foolish, go and have fun with her, since you won't keep in mind that not only will she bite u in the aa but might also shorten your human lifespan. All up to personal preference:angel:
Current(historical) example. I had s4 before n4. General consensus s5 & n5 is a downgrade. Again look at any other product you've acquired in the past(phones, cars, clothes, hardware, software, utilities, services, relationships, etc). There is a heart beat in your heart and scammers have the same rhythm. That is for centuries if you look at any available history.
Lastly is the reason. Why? To be more efficient and productive? Or to up your neighbor that you have the latest?

My original note 4 had water damage and considered jumping to s7 edge. Note 5 was out of the question. But I wasn't sure I could live without removable battery, SD card slot for my 200gb card, stylus, and lastly give up my IR which I use as my universal remote around the house. I had a feeling if I got an s7 edge I would be happy with it temporarily so I ended up getting another note 4. In my opinion, the note 4 is the Swiss army of all phones. I really love that about the note 4.

My gf just got an S7, so like a good geek, I played around with it for a good chunk of time lol.
It's nice, there's no doubt about that, but I still prefer my Note 4

I update phones every year but since I considered the Note 5 a downgrade, I upgraded my Note 4 with another Note 4. I am no longer in the business if updating for the sake of updating. If the Note 6 doesn't bring back the SD card and IR blaster and be rootable [must have Viper4Android], I'll buy another Note 4. Samsung hit the sweet spot with the 4.

Why would you buy a new Note 4 3 years in a row? The Note 4 can surely last more than a single year without any issues.
