Is Samsung Galaxy Tab A support Screen Mirroring? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Can anybody confirm here if Samsung Galaxy Tab A support Screen Mirroring?

Did you mean the Google Chromecast?
http://www.google.com/chrome/devices/chromecast/
This will allow you to stream from your Samsung Galaxy Tab A to your other devices (such as a TV).
Am I on the right path?

I haven't tested this but there is an option on quick toggle (notifications bar) that says "screen mirroring". I imagine it works via miracast as the chromecast version usually doesn't have its own dedicated toggle.

It works on my samsung smart tv.

It's possible to use screen mirroring on your tab, some smartTVs will automatically be detected. Take a look at the picture (I have an LG smart tv)

Galaxy tab A sm-t555 9.7" LTE

I cant screen mirror it to CHROMECAST 2. I can cast youtube and apps that got sign for casting, but QUICK CONNECT, SMART-VIEW wont work.
When I try it inside Google HOME apk it says that its not compatible device....just to mention it again YOUTUBE is casting excellent.
Any suggestions?

What TV model do you have ? Mine is LG with Web WebOs 2 and it's working great with this samsung Tablet !

My galaxy tab A support screen mirroring and work perfectly on my lg smart TV the model it's 585 and function smart view work well
Inviato dal mio SM-T585 utilizzando Tapatalk

I have philips non-smart tv. I will have to check again with other routers, just to be shure that maybe the problem lies in there.
It wont be soon I am not near it for the time being.

Got non Smart TV, but screen mirroring works also fine with an Fire TV Stick.

The router was the problem.

I got it work with a Roku 3. Slide down from the top of the screen and then slide the row of settings icons all the way to the left. Touch the Smart View icon. Connection will take place. Have screen mirroring turned on in Settings/System/Screen mirroring on the Roku. I have my Roku cable connected to my wireless router and my Tab A wifi connected to my router.

No I don't believe it is the as android version is to old

No I don't believe it is as far as doing so without to help of 3rd party apps,,, android version is to old but from your device to web video caster to a smart TV just install web video caster on ur device and ur s mart tv

There are 5 ways with which you can cast, or let's say screen mirror to your Samsung TV with your phone or tab:
SmartView app
AirPlay 2
SmartThings
HDMI adapter
lastly, Quick Connect.
You can always learn in detail how to use all or any of this method listed here. I'm pretty sure any of these methods might work for you.

So where are these features?

Advertised with these features and accessories, and yet now all evidence of them has been scrubbed from Samsung's web-sites. Even the Flash animation on the main Galaxy page has had a photograph of a woman placed over the point where the home dock used to be.
Pros & Cons... These are the cons.
Indeed, I wanted the dock, I wanted the remote, etc.
If they really don't want my money then they shouldn't have made the phone.
Alarm clock works for me.

Really? because mine has no fade in, or clock home screen. It only comes on as the alarm goes off.
saw that on another forum - that is a little "unusual" - suppose this might be an interesting news tip for engadget to run a blurb on
wow they really changed the flash animation and got rid of the dock!
had to see it myself to believe this..
they also removed the scene where the guy was sitting on the couch using his galaxy like a TV remote
makes you question a lot about what in the world is going on
it is just a Software feature.
my old Treo phones were able to remote control the TV via infrared
but the Windows Mobile couldn't do it, due the missing infra on the device.
SGS i9000 doesn't have an infrared AFAIK, so that ADvertizement might have been created before the final spec of the phone were engraved in stone, probably at one point they might have had infrared as part of the device spec.
HOWEVER!!! if that is a Windows based TV, then they can easily use bluetooth to control Windows Media Center, like many of my logitech remote controls at home
The alarm clock/smart alarm works splendid for me.
And yeah, they've removed the docking from the flash animation, but the remote is there still...
I really wanted that desk dock
@AllGamer: The phone is supposed to use DLNA (over wifi) to communicate with the television.
then the TV will need to be one of the newer types of TV that has that feature build in, else it's not gonna work / be compatible with older TVs
samsung has added some galaxy / vibrant accessories page
and interestingly, that media dock missing from the video is not there, but this one is - appears to be similiar, without speaker, but they're calling it a multi-media dock
not sure how, as it doesn't appear to connect to your computer - they describe you "use your travel / wall charger to charge your phone"
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/...ype=acc_detail&subsubtype=chargers&returnurl=
Looks like the original dock but without the speakers. And even this is a bit mean since they dont provide and additional power connector, you have to use the one that came with the phone.
Not sure how it can be a multi-media dock though.

It' just software. The remote doesn't use infrared. It uses a proprietary technology that only works on Samsung TVs sold from 2010 on.
The Alarm clock works.
The dock isn't out, but then again, neither was the Nexus One's when the N1 came out. That one took how long? Couple months?

Does XBMC need a plugin loaded to do that?
Update:
Figured it out... was the UPnP service, Got it running right now on my Nexus 7 using a Raspberry Pi with XBMC hooked up to my 60" HDTV....
While it is limited (not quite mirroring), it is pretty close. I am playing some Youtube stuff on it now. I also played a ripped version of Avatar I had on the Tablet.

Huh? There is no USB cable involved.
This is a Wireless (over WiFi) connection from the Tablet to a device (or TV) that has a WiFi signal to accept the connection to then display it on the Screen.
There is no USB involved. I have it working right now.

In the above, the Raspberry Pi has XBMC running in it.
The limits are the application Shot Beam. It can...
o Display what Photos images you have on your Device
o Play music files you have ON your Device
o Display what Videos you have on your Device
o Use your device's Network to Display YouTube
o Use your device's Network to Display Reddit Videos
See screen shot of App
Screen shot of app playing video
What it doesn't do, is display anything on your device which some people call mirroring.
The app appears to work okay, though it does fail a lot while playing videos. I'm not sure if it is the app wacking out, or the WiFi signal but based on other things I've done, the WiFi doesn't appear to be the issue.

How to mirror your Android screen with nexus player?

I tried the cast function on the phone (Nexus 5) but somehow it can not find any device.
But using the Youtube app casting is working.
Can it work like the chromecast?

With my stock nexus 7 (KK 4.4.4) and wireless display enabled in display settings the screen mirroring works just fine. You have to be on the same wifi network as the nexus player of course then an option will show up in the right corner pull down menu to cast the screen to the player. If it still cant detect it then I am not sure what the problem is, you can try restarting both devices.
I can mirror my nvidia shield tablet on the nexus player with no problem. There is a sec delay but it works quite well, even the sound works. I'm running 5.0 on both devices.
I finally get it working with using the Nexus 5 as AP and let Nexus Player to connect the WIFI hotspot.
So far I can't figure this out, and I'm on the understanding that this can do everything the chromecast can. I use the screen mirror quite a bit!

Guys, I just want to share a tool app, that you need to enhance the mirror feature, that you are trying to establish with your Nexus TV Player.
Follow the link below and scroll down to two post with the above black Android icon on the folder photo, there you will find the tool app and instructions for mirroring and Google casting. Also check out the post with the above top photo, enjoy.

N7 casts from settings and notification menus. For my G2 I had to use the standard Play Store Chromecast app instead
I just got a Nexus Player today and when I tried casting my phone's screen to it, my phone kept saying "no devices found. I turned the Player off, then on, and then my phone found out right away. Just thought I'd mention what worked for me

Cannot Cast from phone to TV

I can CAST directly to my TV from apps, for example by tapping a photo in Google Photos, but I cannot cast the screen. It does not identify my TV as being available, though it does detect my PC. The TV is on the same WiFi network, and my phone must be able to communicate with it or I would not be able to cast successfully from apps.
In the Shade when I click the CAST BUTTON it does not respond in any way, eg. change colour, as other buttons do. Should it? However, I do get the notification which has the 'not found' report.

Hi, if you been able cast screen previously, and now it isn't work anymore, your problem probably will be in your network configuration. Firstly you should start with restarting -router and tv, unplug power cord, after cca 1 min reconnect -> test -> let us know..

It would be helpful to know what TV (Brand) or TV OS you point at. But it very much sounds like you are sharing via Chromecast (as you mention Google Photos works). But casting the Screen requires a Miracasts capable TV.... You can still cast the screen from within the Google Home App...

Advices about remote

I have FireStick 4K, and it works great.
I have this remote:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And it works great, now i am interested in this remote:
But i am a couple of questions:
1. Will all buttons works great?
2. Can i change some buttons, for example netflix button to kodi or youtube
3. Can tv button just change imput to tv and that simply it?
If your 4k stick is on a recent firmware all the buttons will work.
Only buttons '1'+'2' can be reprogrammed. The channel buttons can't be officially reprogrammed. A couple can be reprogrammed unofficially.
The TV button takes you to the LiveTV app in FireOS.
Personally I don't think the cost of that remote is worth it. At this point it's more expensive that the 4k Stick itself.
If you root the 4k Stick and use the Exposed Edge app, you can can remap all the buttons on your current remote. Including double taps and long button presses, on screen shortcuts, recent apps.
But you won't get the remote finder, BT listening and backlit buttons, if that's what you are primarily after.
Thank you for your answer.
What is most annoying for me is when i want to chance imput from firestick to tv, i must get tv remote to press this, i wanted this on firestick remote. Thats most annoying from me.

If mainly want to change the HDMI / input port you should already be able to do that with your current remote.
Go through the FireOS settings / equipment control setup. This will teach the FireTV how to switch HDMI ports. Then you can press the Alexa/voice button and say 'switch to HDMI2' or 'switch to TV' etc
How to switch TV inputs with the Fire TV or Firestick remote
Among the discussions of the new Fire TV remote that was just released, several people said they wished that Amazon added an input button for changing their TV's input.

thank you but i dont want to say anything, i just want to type button.
