Help! Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies .... - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed a rom and it wasn't working , I could boot but screen was black . I flashed another rom and pulled a cable by accident.I think my phone is soft bricked. Kies can't recognize it, I can only boot into Download mode. My phone doesn't charge at wall outlet. Rom i used was stock firmware for galaxy s4 (5.0.1) , my model is GT-I9505 (4g version). When i go into odin mode to flash a new rom it fails "Complete(write) operation failed. Please help me!

try flashing with .pit file and tick re-partition.
.pit file is somewhere here on forum - hard to search on mobile.
it is either that or try different cable / USB port / computer

I tried that pit file can be extracted using heimdall, but odin says complete (write) operation failed like it has no access.

Just let Kies repair it,you have to enter the model and serial nr witch is under the battery.
In Kies go to help or something(in Dutch it's Hulpmiddelen ) then select in drop down Firmware ugrade and inisialate ,then enter model and serial nr
Put phone in download mode and go. The firmware will be downloaded and installed automaticly
Sorry for my bad English

I think Kies doesn't work on rooted phones that is why it can't connect?

@Vokrava: You'd be correct. While I posted the link to the video already, you should be able to resolve this by flashing your firmware via Odin. Just be certain to put the firmware in the Bootloader/BL section of Odin, rather than the PDA/AP section.

Odin : Complete (Write) operation failed
Download mode : SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 4 , Binary : 2

Who is your service provider, and what country is yours?

I got the phone from my friend , I don't know where did he buy it. My provider is mt:s , country is Serbia

Having gotten the phone from a friend changes things. Find out where he got it from and what carrier it was originally using.

Someone told me you can install firmware from any country. I will find that out in 2-3 days or sooner I only remember I had some vodafone bloatware on it. Thanks for helping me I hope we will solve this.

If the phone is unlocked you can install any firmware you wish. However, this particular error seems to be one where you need the original firmware. For example, my I9505 was originally an O2 UK phone, but it's been unlocked. If I encountered this issue I may not be able to use the BTU firmware I have on my hard drive. I'd have to go to sammobile and download O2 firmware.

Ah ok I had cyanogen mod on it before.

Any other way to find out while I wait ?

Not unless you can decipher the IMEI. The carrier the phone was intended for is embedded in it.

It came from Europe (Vodafone) , he doesn't remember the country. I think it is Italy. What do you think ?

Try this firmware.

Patched it with spanish rom , everything is working! Thanks for everything have a nice week!

Store that ROM on your hard drive in case you need it in the future.

What did you do before this all of this happened? You need to be very careful with PIT files, it is a sure way to brick your phone if not done right or with the incorrect PIT file. Usually, loading a PIT file is your absolute last resort.

Flashing pit files should be the last resort after failing the proper flashing of the official firmware.
Uneducated flashing of pit files can lead to a hardbrick.
That is why I said. Try flashing the official firmware from a different pc. Or use a different data cable. Or change everything.
Still if the pit error occurs, then flash put and then the official firmware.
Download the official firmware from here

SOLVED [Q] Galaxy Core PLus (SM-G350) partitions issue

Hi guys,
I have big problem with my Core Plus. I'm little bit skilled with rooting, flashing custom ROMs and so on, but not for SAMSUNG devices. SO what's the problem?
One day I used ODIN for flashing latest stock ROM for my Core Plus. The problem is that I downloaded wrong STOCK file which belongs to other SAMSUNG phone. So flashing process through ODIN stopped and I had no chance. Now my phone is completely wrong, all partition system is damaged.
> When I turned it ON, I saw only big yellow triangle with info about broken update and I have to use Samsung Kies sw and go through Recovery bla bla.....of course I cannot use Kies SW, it doesn't recognize connected phone in this status
> I cannot boot to Recovery mode now (POWER + APP + VOLUP buttons). Before it goes ok so I think that Recovery partition is also broken
> I tried to use .PIT file and checked boxes Auto Reboot, Re-Partition, F.Reset Time, Nand Erase ALL, Phone Bootloader Update and Phone EFS Clear. Al process went ok, I rebooted phone but I see only Samsung initial logo and small red exclamation mark in the left upper corner. I still cannot enter Recovery mode
> ODIN mode (POWER + APP + VOLDOWN buttons) is still working
So when I try to flash official STOCK ROM through ODIN, it allways ends/stop with this message:
<ID:0/004> hidden.img
<ID:0/004> Transmission Complete..
<ID:0/004> Now Writing.. Please wait about 2 minutes
<ID:0/004> Receive Response from boot-loader
<ID:0/004> FAIL!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
SO what to do now? Is there some way, how to fix whole partition system? May I use ADB commands or what to do?
Thank you very much!
Rado
I tried also use ODIN 3.07, 3.09 and 3.10, also with different .md5 roms, but allways the same result. Process allways failed on the same step (described upper)
So in my problem....phone completely hard-bricked. I couldn't get into Recovery mode, but through ODIN I flashed Recovery image. Now recovery is working, I deleted and formated all partitions and cache. After that I tried to flash stock .MD5 file through ODIN, but the same result. It allways fails during flashing Hidden.img file... I think that partition named "hidden" is not in my phone as I discovered through ADB commands. Now when I turn ON the phone, I see original SAMSUNG Galaxy Core Plus SM-G350 logo (with small red exclamation mark in left upper corner.....I don't know what it means, but it's there), but after that phone shows only black screen. But I think I'm on a good way...
Because today is no flashable Android for this model, I tried to flash from SD card .ZIP for another similar phone - Galaxy Trend Plus. Difference between Core Plus and Trend Plus is in screen size. I knew that it cannot work properly, BUT - whole flashing process of that .ZIP was OK. So that means that I can fix my phone, but only with flashable .ZIP . I'm affraid that I have to wait till someone create flashable .ZIP from stock ROM for Galaxy Core Plus
SOLVED I found that original stock for Afganistan coutry is smaller (appr. 300MB) than other origo ROMs. So I flashed it through ODIN and flash process worked ! After that I flashed original Slovakia stock file through ODIN and it's OK now :cyclops:
I have same problem. What exactly Afghanistan stock do you flash?

Hi , I was in the same situation , I have a samsung galaxy core Plus sm G350M and was in android 4.4.2 and cannot root it with anything , so I tried 4 different roms from sammobile and after softbrick (the message that says conected to Kies to fix the software or something in that nature ), and only one worked for me the following Rom:
G350MNXUANB4_G350MMXANB4 this rom has android 4.3 , and I used Odin 1.85 to installed it. Then after the phone came to life I used Iroot to rooted and it worked in the first try. Then I installed Supersu and eventhough it asked me like 5 times to grant permission and said once that it was not granted , finally it worked and the phone. So know I have my sm G350m alive and rooted, now I want to unlocked it with one of my tools (octoplus), I will keep you posted.
If you need any help let me know, and if any of the information helped you, I will appreciate your thanks.
Hopefully I helped one friend with your issue.

I think my s7 edge SM-G935F its now just a brick...

I wanted to update my s7 edge to oreo via odin. So, i think i just flash it bad (instead of put one archive in bl i put other in ap, idk things like that). so i saw it told me An error has occurred while updating the device
software. Use the emergency recovery function in Smart Switch. I tried flashing again the firmware in odin but it just stuck in initialization. I just tried in diferent version of odin nor switch mode.
I tried with diferent usb cable nor other usb port
When i try to recover it with switch mode it just tell that it cant because it isn´t compatible (I even put the s/n)
Could someone tell a alternative tool to odin?
Help please, i think im losing my s7
Btw, sorry for my bad english.
Don't worry it will be fixed restart using volume down-home-power buttons all together go back in odin mode and try to flash only AP
Yo ur English is fine.
What version is your phone?
What version firmware are you using? Where did you get it ?
What version of Odin?
There are only 2 ways.
Odin or OTA by your provider.
Lol i don't think the change to Oreo is worth this trouble. But since you're going down this rabbit hole, we can at least try to get you working phone in Oreo.

Don't know about samfirm. Sam mobile download is pretty safe and good. Download again in case of corrupt download if you want to reuse your firmware. Ensure that your firmware is for G935F. Boot to download mode. Unzip the zip file and get md5. Put md5 firmware on Odin (latest version) in AP section. Plug phone to computer. Make sure it says "added". Then start process.
Below link will help.

Should work flawlessly. Let me know if this doesn't help. Sorry if it's too simple of an explanation. Would rather have you understand than not.

Hello, everyone. I have a SM-G935F Galaxy s7 Edge. usb gate was broken and i started to change the software with odin. it was installed in half and I pushed the usb cable by mistake and the installation stopped. then a error appears on the screen: an error occurrd while updating the device software. i read a lot in the forums and i watched a lot of videos how to fix it but everywhere they describe and show that the phone needs to be restarted with the combination of buttons. my problem is that when i connect my phone to pc it says error: device is not recognized. I checked how to fix this error too, although I managed to fix the device manager in windows , the smart switch still does not detect the phone and the phone cannot restart with a combination of buttons. this phone is very expensive and i want to fix it at any cost. the phone is already with a new usb port, all you have to do is help me put the software on it. please help me very much.

Hello good people at XDA, it's been quite a while since I have had an android phone, and am currently stuck, I reset my SM-G950W ( Canadian S8 ) and I can't seem to flash stock firmware back onto it. I used a .tar.md5 to flash the current one, but can't seem to find a .tar for the stock firmware, and adding the BL/AP/CP/CSC manually from the downloaded packaged result in odin doing nothing or failing. Could really use some help with my expensive brick :3
