I've seen nothing on the 1050F or any of the Android based tablets (even numbers). The Russian forum has a guide for the Windows tablets (odd numbers). I'm trying to keep up on what they are doing. I'm collecting files to help us later on...

I'm proud to have contributed to this tip section .
Note that this trip works on majority of 5.0x devices.
One question : is there a 830f version with windows, as suggests :
http://shop.lenovo.com/fr/fr/yoga-tablet-2/
It's in french but selecting 8" let me thinl there's a windows 8 version
I'd ne happy to give it a try... after having succesfully rooted my 830, as i'm stuck with the E: error

When downgrading from 5.0 to 4.4 but fails to enter into the UEFI interface, how to return from UEFI interface to the Android interface.
1, if the BIOS settings have changed, please return all changes, so you need to write down what options were changed.
2, long press the power button to shut down, press and hold the volume + and volume - and power on, enter the FastBoot mode, using data cable connection computer.
3, extract droidboot.img and bootx64 from 5.0 OTA update package, this forum post has given the web link of the firmware, please download it.
4, create a folder named “flash” in the desktop, and then put the extract bootx64 and droidboot.img into the folder, and then create a text document, input “CMD” in the text document and then save, Modify text file txt suffix for bat. Turn off all the useless software!
5, open the new text document.bat, then there will be CMD interface, input
fastboot flash osloader bootx64.efi
and then input
fastboot boot droidboot.img
6, Then the tablet into the driodboot interface, and then in accordance with the downgrade tutorial directly degraded. Be sure to remember to delete a little something in the flash-LtoKK-PVT-810.xml:

Thanks Tang1331726 for this detailled tutorial !!
I'm downloading the 1.15GB file over a poor wifi link... but as I understand you are proposing me to downgrade to kitkat.
As I've never rooted my 830F before when in 4.X nor mdified the bios of it, and updated only thru OTA to 5.01 last week, I'm a little confused about what you propose me.
I should use the proposed rooting technique for 5.0

To be clear. This is to fix the bios error when you upgrade to Lollipop and try to downgrade to KitKat? Also this worked on your 830F?

This. I had rooted kitkat on a pal's 830LC. He update to an OTA (lollipop according to him) and got stuck in vicious boot loop. I downloaded YT2-830LC_S0184_150422_ROW and whatever I'd do, flashing system image would fail. Finally, changed force sparcing to 500MB, and suddenly, it's what's all the fuss?!? By the way, Windows 10 x64, used IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.9.0.
Thanks a ton :good:

Thanks Workdowg, and Thanks tang1331726 for your patience.
My english might be incorrect, but as I per my understanding this fix is when you are stuck and only solution is downgrading from KK to LL.
My situation is somewhat different as I've succesfully ugraded, without any glitch, thanks to the timming Tip warnig (this is a gold one, I wonder how many RMA Lenovo will have to deal with !!)
My exact situation :
830-F
Lollipop OTA succesfully installed (5.01 July 10 2015)
Problem occur using SuperSU (2,40, 2,46, 2,49) after successfully booted tethered recovery.
Can you confirm me that I've to do the process described by tang1331726 to fix the E: signature error, and that I'll still be under Lollipop ?
ps: I guess there's noway to get Windows 8 or 10 on my 830F, altough 851F seems very, not to say tottally, hardawre similar.

You are very welcome!
As far as the "E: signature error" please try posting in the Intel tethered recovery thread. Those guys should be able to help. Some people had luck by placing the SuperSU zip on the MicroSD and installing from there. Also try using the another recovery. I use TWRP on my 1050F.
We are trying to get Windows and/or Linux running on these Android based YT2's. Keep looking back here for more info...

Any steps to follow on how to root my TPT ROW on a mac?
Does not work at all for me. nvflash shows me the typical 0x4 error when it tries to injct the bootloader bin file...
This will work only on unlocked devices, because it uses nvflash and i can't find any sbk in the bat files (cwm.zip). The root.zip only contains the known exploit for devices below ICS.

Yes, I heard this and tried it on my US 32Gb version, but i failed.
Got an write/read error/warning, then the program stopped.
As I know, this rooting method ONLY works on ROW versions, but not US version.:crying:
It did fail, but did not bring any bad effects to my TPT. I just updated to the stock OTA3.5 smoothly.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Hey guys, i just wanted to tell you that it worked for my OTA3 TPT ROW.
Tip: try extracting the recovery image from your rom (eg. US) and put it instead of the one provided in there rars, it might work for you.
Cheers!
Google did it's best to translate the think but I'm a little weary to try it as the steps are still a bit garbled.
EDIT: Does anyone have a stock rom? I'm looking to do what the last commenter suggested and switch out the image.

I followed the translated instructions and am now running CM10 on my 16GB ROW. It's fantastic -- like having a new device.
The instructions are pretty simple to follow. I had one problem though.
To use nvflash, you need to start the tablet by holding down the rotation lock button and then install the provided driver in Windows. This works well. However, after performing a flash, Windows would no longer recognize it if you power it on while holding the rotation lock button. To gain access to the special recovery mode again, I had to uninstall the device and driver in Windows Device Manager, and the reinstall again when prompted.
Because the whole procedure requires multiple flashes with nvflash, I had to perform this uninstall-reinstall process several times.
Other than that, it worked perfectly well.
Hope this helps if anyone encounters the same issue.
Does this mean we have the key for nvflash?

My question in regards to this is can we build a flashable rom of this? And would this work with the US TPT?

I need to try this. But from what I understand this only works for ROW versions and not US versions(given the attached files from the OP). If someone could post an image of a US version I'd cross my fingers and give it a go.
I can't even get past CWM.bat.
I get an NvError 0x30011.

Same here and before is a hidden 0x4 hidden by a CLS command inside the script.
I'd be great if we could get some developers input. I program in C++ and Visual Basic but have no experience with Android/Linux to be able to look deeper into this :S
Moved To General
If somebody wants to write a guide and supply a proper dev section thread, fine. But this thread is not development.
Hi, I have succesfully rooted my ROW 16GB Wifi-only ICS 4.0.3 tablet following chinese guide. Excuse my english, Im not native speaker . I'll try to explain what I did:
1. make sure you can see your TPT with "adb devices" command.
2. turn off your device, make sure you have USB cable connected, hold rotation lock button + power on device to get to APX mode. Screen will not turn on, but windows will find new APX hardware unknown.
3. update software driver for APX, set CWM folder manualy. You should now have NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery drover for Mobile devices installed.
4. in APX mode run "cwm.bat", after its done, reboot device to APX mode and press any key, dont press it before you restart your device. You can see CWM_recovery.img installing to your tablet. Follow instruction...
5. After step 4 is done, reboot your device to Recovery, when you see small lenovo logo spam volume up button until you see "booting to recovery kernel mode".
6. Navigate to mount and store using vol +/- button, power button to confirm. Select mount /system
7. make sure you can still ses your device using "adb devices" command, and run root.bat, follow instruction. When all is done, select power off in recovery menu.
8. Now you have root, but you cant boot to system. You need to get to APX mode again and run "403 recovery.bat", follow same steps as with "cwm.bat".
9. reboot and you should now have rooted TPT.
Hope this help, Im not so good at giving instructions .

yoga 2 1050F can only access BIOS, let's go to RMA?

Hello everybody, I was trying to revert to a 4.x rom because bluetooth tethering was not working... anyway I used Intel Phone Flash Tool and it seems like he failed to flash boot.bin but restarted anyway
SO I only have the Intel BIOS, I can access all the settings, but I cannot start it in Fastboot mode (it just hangs on FastBoot Starting...) or anything that resembles Android.
Still this BIOS seems more a PC to me than a tablet so I am posting here because maybe there is someway to attach an USB OTG (for example) and boot something from there.
@ionioni is working on a safe downgrade path. We did mine but it could be a disaster if not followed correctly. Your other choice is Lenovo repair support. When i bricked mine, it only took 6 days to get it back in my hands. You could also try the steps here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62237383&postcount=5

Thank you very much @workdowg, I passed by that thread, just "DNX" mode does not work on my tablet.
So Repair Support it is.
It's very sad such an awesome tablet has so poor ROM that people has to downgrade it...

that is DNX mode!!! that message translates to: i DNX have started and now i am waiting for YOU to give me a (fast)boot image to start... so that message is exactly the message indicating that you ARE in dnx mode.
updated: read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/thinkpad-tablet/general/yoga-tab-2-830-1050-1380-to-kitkat-t3240487
edit:
before anything:
1. download/extract the files attached to this post, now start your tablet (using the Pwr+VolUp+VolDown) to get to that somehow confusing "Fastboot starting..." message = DNX mode (you must get to that message before continuing!)
2. run the extracted tmp-root-1050F-lollipop.exe file (i am assuming you are on the X64 = Lollipop firmware as that screen pictures you attached shows), should do some stuff and in the end if all well will drop you to a root shell (in that post theres a PrtScr for reference), just follow the messages it's pretty easy. should the exe get stuck/not work put your tablet again in DNX mode and try the other file tmp-root-1050F-kitkat.exe. (this means somehow the bios got downgraded partially on your attempt to return to kitkat). this is just a test to see how to move on, it will not fix nor change anything on your tab, after you reboot it will be in the same state as before (that is if you don't do stuff in that root shell of course)
- report back which one worked (gived you a shell)
- also do you want to go back on kitkat or do you want to stay on lollipop? is important to know as the steps are different

i have no idea not having access to such a device, but considering the similar hardware with the YT2 model (well better a little but not by that much) it should work with the exact same method uset for YT2. so yes 99% that it's root-able (maybe even unlock-able, someone on your thread asked me, yet he did not sent nothing no files when asked so i don't know much about the internals of YT3)
Thanks for your answer.
So if I try this (T4 I think):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57543871&postcount=1
It won't brick my device? It will work, or not work but no brick?

there are other ways of knowing whether that or maybe even other new commands work, i would need from someone to send me a dump of his fastboot partition so i can check inside (my bet is that what works on YT2 willdo on YT3 too... and i am pretty sure it will work up to YT100 knowing how Lenovo works )
I don't have the tablet yet, so I can't have the files you need. Who has the yoga tab pro 3?
I have it but I can't seem to find working adb/fastboot drivers. Stuck on device unknown.
OK drivers sorted but getting an unknown OEM command on both T3 and T4. so no joy yet

1. the easy way:
- if anyone has access to the droidboot.img and can send it (from the rom, did not found any on my quick searches, or maybe when you do an OTA, don't install it yet and look inside)
2. a little more complicated one (working on 1050 and could work on your tab) will NOT CHANGE anything on your tab all happens in memory and gets lost at reboot:
- download tmp-root-1050F-lollipop.zip from here and extract
- place your tab in DnX mode: PowerOff, then while pressing boh VolUp&voulDown (and keep them pressed) press Pwr to start (keeping vols pressed), release Pwr when the logo show and in a few sec the screen will say "Fastboot starting..." and hang on that message (you are in DnX mode now)
- run the exe downloaded, follow the instructions if all is well (hopefully) it will open a temporary root shell where you can do stuff otherwise not possible on the "after boot to Android" environment
- open a new Windows command prompt (cmd) and enter some commands:
adb shell "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/tmp/fastboot.img"
adb pull /tmp/fastboot.img
send me that file so i can look into it and see what is changed on your tab
this is just some preliminary, if the temp_root works (let's hope) many things besides rooting are possible, but for rooting the easiest way would be to adapt the existing method from YT2 to whatever is changed on your tab

Hallo,
Thank you for your work. I have a little bit afraid of this method .
Too bad that there are so few users here . But the Tab is still so new.
Perhaps an even experiencer user dares. Sorry !!!
At Weekend i will take your method and send you the file.
Unfortunately the tmp-root seems not to be working. Dnx mode - no problem and the .exe file starts but sticks on the preparing to push files line. On the tab after a few seconds a service menu appears ( board test, rf calibration etc.) Option 5 on this menu is droidboot but this crashes the .exe file. If someone else wants to confirm it's not my (old and messed up windows 7) machine then it seems pretty riskfree
Just noticed a tiny message on tablet ( must be a screen resolution thing) shortly after executing .exe about certificate verification failing.

we tried. it was rejected by the bios right from start and never even got the chance to load (that message means just that).
somehow, someway we must get a fastboot image so we can see what can we use (grab from the tab or from stock rom).
i've seen your stock rom avail yet i don't know if they are legit (they seem). also is a payed one.
one more try:
go in fastboot (droidboot) mode and try and see what these commands will output (to see if at least one is still valid):
fastboot flash /tmp/some_small_file some_small_file (use a real file ofcourse, to see if we can still write to the device)
fastboot oem unzip
fastboot oem fastboot2adb
fastboot oem factory2tmp
(they won't do nothing in this config, yet we'll be able to see if meaybe one is still working, ie it doesnt say 'unknown command')
Flash file gives cannot load,; the others give unknown command.

try again the fastboot flash (i edited the syntax in the prev post)
however, i think that a droidboot.img will make things a lot more easier
so whoever grabs a stock rom...
So, @Shug69, did you try the edited commands?

Been travelling. Can try tomorrow but I agree we need to find a ROM. The site ionioni linked to may be legit but 25 bucks to find out seems a bit steep.
ok. back at pc - sure i'd bricked it there - ran 'fastboot oem unlock' and it unlocked the bootloader. woudnt boot normal though afterwards and it took several reboots after ' fastboot oem lock' to get past the Lenovo logo. Device is wiped of course
My experience has been a little different so far. Just picked up the tablet today.
I toggled Allow OEM unlock and enabled debugging in Developer Options. I installed the Lenovo Suite software (which was really just a driver pack) then ran adb reboot bootloader to reboot. It got me to a Lenovo splash.
fastboot oem unlock didn't work for me. It gave me an error message:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
...
FAILED (remote: Need wipe userdata. Do 'fastboot oem unlock-go')
finished. total time: 0.005s
Running fastboot oem unlock-go worked immediately and the tablet rebooted to the typical Android factory wipe screen. Could be coincidental, but I got an OTA notice after I did the whole first-time Android setup. I denied the update, but copied down the update name: YT3-X50F_S000015_150917_ROW_TO_YT3-X50f_S000016_151002_ROW

Great news. I have confirmed that it works using my non-Pro Yoga Tab 3 8". Do I need to keep the Kingroot app installed after I have unroot device? The only issue I have is updating the SU binary in SuperSU. More to come after I debloat my device.
Thank you once again.

[HELP] Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1050F Softbricked

So i rooted my Yoga tab just a few hours ago and it went great. Booted back in and installed some apps and started to remove some apps. I rebooted the tablet shortly after and got stuck in some bootloop at the title screen. (Lenovo for those who do) It boots three times and then its just black with some flickering.
I got in to recovery and did (probably really, really stupid) a reset of data and cache. figure that will solve everything. It didn't. But it did not however make it works. Still the same bootloop.
if i leave it on for like 10 minutes, the screen where you choose language and time comes up but i can't press anything. Then everything goes black and flickers.
I was on stock kitkat when this happened and I've searched all around the internet for answers. I don't understand half of the things a read. Reflashing a new bios and fastboot what not. Almost every link in every thread is dead.
I need help and i hope you can help me with a solution too how i can get my tab up and running.
I have no back ups what so ever because i'm stupid so i need just hard reset everything not worrying about saving anything. (didnt have anything on the tab anyways)
Info again:

Hello !
You should try to flash stock KitKat Lenovo Firmware with IntelFlashTool !
Also, you should install some intel drivers : Intel® USB Driver for Android* Devices & iSocUSB-Driver-Setup .
KitKat Firmware must be available under Lenovo site !
Put your device in DNX mode ( press & keep at the same time all three hardware buttons , when device reboot just release power button ... you will see soon "Fastboot starting..." , right now you can release volume up & down ) - connect your device via USB with your desktop and start Intel Flash Tools . Just unpack stock KitKat Lenovo Firmware and select under Intel Flash Tools , Flash file : "flash.xml" from Lenovo Firmware !
Good luck !

Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, i think it made i made it worse
The flash stopped at 70% and now i'm stuck in a bootloop at the first power up screen.
Can you still get in to fast boot, and are you sure you were on KitKat rom.
try and start your tab in normal fastboot mode (from the recovery console select 'reboot to bootloader' or use from power off the combo keys Pwr & Vol+ or Pwr & vol- one of these two should bring you to the Fastboot/Droidboot menu) and from there tell me what the ifwi entry says... BLADE_21....
Problem solved!
I had to check "Force fastboot sparsing" and change it to 500MB in FlashTool and then it worked. Everything is now up and running.
Thanks for your replies.

Bios Downgrade Tool Query
Hi mate, sorry for such a late reply but I'm struggling trying to get the bios downgrade tool to work on my tablet. Its plugged in and the "fast boot starting" message is showing but when I click on the tool on my pc and start it, nothing changes with the tablet. Is there an obvious step I am missing? Kind of new to this.
Thanks
Hello chaps. Random question. I have searched and searched for an answer but cant find a 100% reliable one. Can our 1050F 10.1 inch run Ethernet on the OTG? I have been liaising with Lenovo tech support via email for 5 weeks now and they are certain it can but I cant get it going with my Plugable OTG/Ethernet adaptor. So, what say you folks? Thanks.
On the Lollipop.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 1050F - Boot Failed. EFI Hard drive

Flashing Stock ROM failed.
Now won't boot of course, nor I can access fastboot. It's gone.
After turning Tablet on shows: "Boot Failed. EFI Hard drive"
and straight after that: "Boot Succeeded - Enter Setup"
Then BIOS like or actually BIOS shows - Title - VALLEYVIEW CO PLATFORM...
How can I fix fastboot? Or Droid Boot? I didn't even know I had BIOS in background?
I guess all blame me because I had Rooted... Is it trashing Tablet next step? Cause I couldn't find anything. I just wanted to go back to Stock ROM.
Anyone saw somewhere how to bring back fastboot? Or make it boot-able anything useful?
In that BIOS there is Boot Manager option and offers
- EFI Hard drive - Device path : PciRoot (0x0) /Pci (0x17, 0x0) /Ctrl (0x0)
- EFI Internal Shell - Device path : MemoryPapped (0xB,0xFFF50000,0xFFF8FFFF) /FvFile(C...
Can I somehow go somewhere from here?
Device Manager
Boot Maintenance Manage - has option Boot From FIle
- Boot Next Value... I'm lost.
I'm browsing that bios all possible ways to find something useful, but with no success.. Please help.
EDIT1: I find out that holding Power button and BOTH volume keys will start FastBoot - But mine stucks on "FastBoot Starting..."
There is already thread on xda discussing what to do when you got UEFI screen. restore-kitkat-bios-830-1050-v2 tool is the answer.
I lost that thread, so I'll answer to mine thread:
My state was - tablet ended up in UEFI. Couldn't get through but I did on the end with novice mistakes. So, here is advice and mistakes which cost me some time.
Spot that you need to be in DnX mode - kk-tool says that - pressed Volume keys and power button. Then tablet says FastBoot Starting...
Do not run KK bios restore tool with Intel Phone Flash Tool opened. Close Intel Phone Flash Tool. Then run kk-tool and follow instructions.
Then use Intel Platform Flash Tool to flash ROM (you need android driver and USB driver). I have used and working (not first image but some other second download worked): YT2-1050F_S0198_150422_ROW. Then I have tried to update to Android Lollipop but install failure.. Killed KitKat.. I'll google more tomorrow.
Let me know if you find working ROM able to update all the way successfully to Lollipop.
Looks scary when you see grey-blue UEFI screen - Oh, I must screwed up pretty bad if I lost FastBoot... You might think something like that, like I did. But kk tool really kick-off and helped.
I have searched quite thoroughly in this forum but I can not seem to find the restore-kitkat-bios-830-1050-v2 tool . I have this same problem and can not get my 830LC running.

If anyone has those files it would be useful to me (and surely others)
