My S5 has constant issues with choppy bluetooth to the point were it is unusable in my car. The only way to get around it is to put "daydream" on which IIRC forces the phone to not sleep. Also, I've read it causes bluetooth to not go into low power mode. Is there a way to force this without daydream? Having my screen on while charging is a pain and having to keep my phone plugged in is also a pain.
My phone does this too. Even with the screen on and the car charger plugged the volume cuts in and out. I don't know what the cause of it is. Thought it was just me so I been living with it. Any insight with be appreciated.

I'm going to try cpu tuner and see if keeping my cpu normal when the screen off helps. this requires root. i would really like a solution that does not require my phone to be plugged in.
CPU tuner did not work.
i use to have this problem to, what i did was to change cpu governor manualy to performance and put max frecuency, but the important thing was cpu governor. Also but i'm not sure that i make any diference was to disable Samsung DVFS with xposed, but like i said i never test if this make any diference.

I am curious to find out what tasker profiles you use on your tablet? I have read how useful it is on a phone, i'm not so sure how useful it is on a tablet. I use it to randomly change wallpapers every hour and mute my a500 at night. Please feel free to post your profile or a link on instructions on how to use it so everyone can join in on the fun.
Only things i used to use it for on my phone was to turn GPS on/off depending on what app(s) I was using, and to automatically set my media volume to min or max depending on time of day (go to sleep to Pandora @ min, drive to/from work w/ Power Amp on max because my aux input jack is low volume)
Haven't really been tempted to use Tasker on my tablet yet, and I removed Tasker on my phone after grabbing a low voltage kernel which increased my battery life enough so I didn't need to worry about the GPS receiver battery drain.
I have recently purchased a Verizon Galaxy S4 and love it. Initially I planned on loading a custom ROM but now that it is rooted and I have removed much of the bloatware, I realize I don't want to give up most of these Touchwiz features. However, there are two simple issues I have never had with an android device before that are bugging me.
First of all, as I'm sure many of you have noticed, when the battery reaches a certain level, the brightness dims to the lowest level possible and you lose the ability to manipulate the brightness. Generally this happens when my phone has at least a couple hours of battery life remaining. Granted, a bright screen will reduce this time but I'd rather have some usable time than none, as the brightness level reaches a point where the phone is completely unusable if you are exposed to any sunlight at all. I have tried going through the settings as well as overriding the brightness with an app I have called Screen Dim to no avail. Has anyone had success brightening the screen at low battery?
Additionally, every time you plug in a 3.5mm stereo jack into the phone, it drops down the volume and usually forces you to acknowledge a dialog box prior to permitting you to raise the volume. This is a wonderful feature if you are completely oblivious and all you ever use are low impedance headphones. However, I use this almost exclusively on loudspeaker stereos, 90% of the time it is my car stereo while I am driving. Occasionally I use bluetooth headphones but I'm not dumb enough to blast that on full volume so this feature is pointless to me. So now here is one more button I have to read and push while in the act of driving in order to get music playing which is unsafe. Is there any way to circumvent this annoyance?

App doesn't seem to matter (Play Music, N7, ...), Boeffla Sound enabled, Eargasm preset, no saturation prevention, no privacy mode, earphones and speaker boosted and optimised.
Any obvious suspects? Any hints anyone?
NB: Yes, I do use a custom kernel, but I can't tell who's the culprit, so I ask for others experiences to allow to find the cause of it.

I do not know if this is related but since I installed Omni (coming from latest AOKP); I have issues with my Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth receiver, i use poweramp and I experience a lot of skips when playing music (poweramp is set to automatically turn off the screen after a few seconds); I increased buffer size, poweramp priority, bluetooth priority but the skips remain... Playing thru headphones directly plugged in is ok

I've been having this issue as well, and I've managed to narrow down what's wrong, but still haven't been able to fix it or find out what's causing it. I'm using stock kernel with the latest nightly on a GS4 i9505.
The issue seems to be that the device is constantly going into Deep Sleep mode. Go into the Performance tab in Settings (unlock Developer Mode first, I think) and have a look at the Time In State data. Right now, for 12h of uptime, my phone is showing 8h of Deep Sleep, despite me using it as GPS and listening to Audiobooks for most of the work day. Even more, it's been happening while I am actually USING the device.
Additionally, it's reporting that my Max CPU speed is 0 MHz, with Min at 486 MHz. Any time I put the slider up to full (or anything, really), it forgets it and goes back down to 0. I've changed Governer and Scheduler, and even used other tweaking apps to control the kernel, but nothing seems to stick.
On the whole, I'd really not mind too much except I listen to audio books while I'm working/driving, and having it skip and stutter because the phone is struggling to process the audio is exceedingly frustrating.
Going to take a closer look around for this, now that I know what the issue is. Putting it up here so you guys can look as well.

I using a Dragonfly DAC via OTG and when the screen turns off I random interference which is only resolved by switching the screen on.
I have set it to performance mode in the battery settings and allowed Neutron player to be protected but it doesn't make a difference.
My guess is its some sort of cpu throttling down maybe who knows.
Any help on this would be great.
I have found that each time that I connect my bluetooth audio devices to the phone the volume resets to the loudest setting. The change seems to happen as soon as I start audio the first time after connecting. When I adjust the volume I can see momentarily that it was on a lower setting and then it jumps all the way up to maximum. This has happened with three different brands of headsets. It does not happen with wired earbuds. An app called "Bluetooth Volume Control" will automatically adjust the volume based on the bluetooth device connected. This work reasonably well but not 100% so far. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Edit: I found a solution for this. In the developer options under the "Networking" heading, there is an option to "Disable absolute volume." Turning this option on allows the volume to stay where I put it.
Well, I love having mine maxed out every time. I had the Nexus6p which did something much more annoying. It would always set the Bluetooth volume to the middle and then I would have to turn it all the way up every time. I set up a Tasker option, but like your app, it didn't work 100% of the time either.

In the past it would have been less of an issue but the combination of the new phone and my newest bluetooth set means that half way is ear damaging. My older sets were less so but are still uncomfortably loud.
My god, I hope no one else complains about this. I can't stand devices that default to a safe volume limit. FYI, when connected via BT, the phone volume is software based and what ever device you are using is hardware based. It is ALWAYS recommended to max out the software volume and then use the hardware (actual device) volume to adjust to your preference. On other phones I would always have to readjust both volumes, not fun. OnePlus does it right.

Not all bluetooth earbuds have volume controls. It would be nice to just have the volume stay where I put it. That would be the "right" way. you could leave it high I could leave it lower.

It allows granular control over volume, presets for different devices, boosting or reducing the overall volume... etc.
For example, in my car maximum volume is preferred because I would rather use the volume control on the dash, however my wireless earbuds have no volume control and this newest pair have a truly ridiculously loud maximum volume, and I want them to default to about 50 percent. This app lets me set up separate presets for each.
It also lets you adjust the maximum volume and the rate of change when you use the volume controls. This was useful also.
free to use with ads but it is $2.99 to make it useful though.
I think that is problem solved but I wish that I didn't need an app to prevent an automatic volume change. It isn't about loud or soft. It is the fact that I put it where I want it and the phone changes it. In my case these headphones are capable of such loud volumes that starting soft would be preferable.

Thanks for the solution! I've been having the opposite problem, i. e. every time I connected my Bluetooth earplugs the volume was always at the minimum. Now it's working fine.

I noticed this and had it on but I turned it off, then I noticed that the volume was not staying like it did when I used other bluetooth earbuds. After reading your post, I then reenabled the option and works nicely. I got the IdeaUSA v203 headphones today, and I was trying to keep the volume about the same via bluetooth and aux cable, in-case I ran out of battery and need to plug in aux to use headphones. This works perfectly for me. I use Poweramp and nicely done for this. It says up to 40 hours playback but I think with the way I got it might give me a few hours less playback but I am willing to sacrifice for volume. One reason I love Oreo or higher OS now. My S7 Edge is nice with this.:good:

I have 'disable absolute volume' ON and i still have this problem. Its a very big problem, because having music defaulted to large scares the me so much and also is causing damage to my ears.

Same here. Toggling that did nothing at all.
My issue was that if I took a phone call while any media was playing, when I hung up on the call the media volume would jump to max and playback would resume which DESTROYED my ears.
My solution was to uninstall the Samsung Sound Assistant app and then rebooting my S9. (Because the behavior persisted until rebooted after the uninstall.) That fixed the issue entirely. I miss the functionality of Sound Assistant so I might try reinstalling to see if it works itself out but for now having the problem fixed is very nice.
