S4 Soft Bricked? Advice/Help? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I was running Fenny's Stock Rom 4.2 on my S4 i9505 I was going good and then i flashed Stock 4.3 using mobile odin pro.
Now S4 is stuck at Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Screen.
worst than that my laptop was not detecting the phone through USB cable. When i used to connect the cable with my phone it was not asking for any connection mode option in the notification.
Now I guess I can't flash it through odin using PC
Any other way out? How can i fix this?
Waiting for advices and suggestions .....

You do know you have to boot the phone into download mode in order to flash roms with Odin on the PC, right?Use the original cable and try different usb ports.
Or, if you had a custom recovery, does it work anymore?

Thanks for your response,
Yes i am in download mode waiting for odin to make me smile ... But nothing..
No costum recovery everything went back tu stock thats why i am stuck now

Then try the cable and usb port thing. It's mostly caused by those.

Tried 4 different ports and two cables, my other samsung phone can talk to my pc using same port and cable
So is this means my phone's port is not working for data transfer? even though it is charging my cell phone.

Power Button+Home Button+Volume Down Button

That ll take me to download mode and its if no use as i wrote above my cell is not being detected by odin/pc..

Try reinstalling usb drivers
or
another PC
it worked FOR me

Tried windows 7 and then 8 and mac book still no luck

You might have to take it to repair center and have them reinstall the software. They have tools that we simple mortals don't

it was was the hardware issue infact the charging port was having it Rx/Tx Pin faulty as per the lap guy in my area. He replaced the strip for it and now I can flash any thing using odin

Its possible one of the pins in your charging port is faulty or damaged I would warranty the phone or contact mobiletechvideos.com they do charging port repair as well.

It is possible that your phone does not have usb drivers installed....change you rom and comeup to stock and see what happens
Hit like if i helped you
I did install the latest stock official firmware from sammobile and still this didn't solve the problem, so i took my phone in to be looked at by my mobile network provider which will probably send it to samsung.
What was weird for me is that when the device is in ODIN mode then the pc picks it up but other than that nothing. I mean i could flash through odin successfully but the charging and PC connection didn't work even with official stock rom from Sammobile.com
Thanks for the replies.

Please help, s4 sgh i337m brick!!!

Hi there !!!,windows doesn't recognize my s4 i337m in download mode (code 29), when i was flashing (stock canada 5.0.2) my cousin unplugged the cable by mistake, now i can go into download mode but widows 7 doesnt recognize anymore (tried different pcs and cables , the same), did it damage the usb port? or is hardbricked?? what can i do??? please help!!
I'm no expert on this, but you can try taking out battery. Hold power button to discharge hardware and put battery back in and see if it works. You can also try factory reset & wipe cache from recovery (Vol Up + Home + Power) and try again.
Your phone at least goes to Download mode so that's good sign I guess. You're using ODIN to flash 5.0.2, right?
Wait more experienced person to answer, though.

It looks like the PC does recognize something is connected; it just doesn't know what the device is. This makes me think USB port is fine otherwise PC wouldn't recognize anything AT ALL. Does the phone still charge?
You can try the 3 methods here. I know it says for Code 28, but it will reinstall drivers for usb ports. Restart and see if phone is detected.
If it's still not detected, remove Samsung drivers, Kies, or anything related to Samsung phone. Restart and install Samsung USB drivers again. Restart again and see if phone is detected.
bro i'm afraid it did not work, perhaps replacing usb port on my device? or the whole flex?
aditional data: my nephew unplugged the usb cable by mistake while i was flashing canada stock 5.0.2 , obviously odin "failed" , but after that , windows 7 does not recognize my device anymore. i can still go into download mode.

Well, I'm stumped too now, man. You can try the driver thing I said on another computer. I don't know any other things you can try.
If you can charge your phone, your usb port probably works fine. The firmware got corrupted, causing this problem most likely.
solved!!

Unable to flash any rom after Odin flashing error

My Note 4 is n910cq with Exynos and I downloaded Android 6 from an xda thread and while I try to flash it through odin I got an error. After that the phone stuck with a screen says"firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode ın kies and try again". I can put the phone into download mode but not able to get it to recovery mode. I tried to flash older roms but still keep getting error in odin. I tried Samsung smart switch app through upgrade section but no result. So, what to do?
it happens to me also because the phone disconnects while flashing , so you need to change the usb port ..keep trying to place it in a different usb port or even try to change the usb cable

Android boot loop on Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo (i9060)

Hey!
New to XDA but a complete fan of the help and guides you guys provide.
So, I acquired an i9060 smartphone and successfully installed CM 11 without the help of my laptop since the usb cable through Odin never worked for me (driver issues on Win10?).
Unfortunately, my phone entered an Android boot loop. And now with a lot of attempt I can't even enter CWM or even charge my smart phone, as it always reboots while trying to charge the battery (it's always drained) or gets stuck during logo before accessing CWM.
I tried to install Samsung drivers, Kies, ABD, Odin to restore the firmware but... nothing seems to recognise this Samsung device. Does anyone had the same problems I'm having now? Any suggestions?
You might try another USB cable, USB port, or even another computer. Without Odin, you're not going to be able to fix this since recovery is no longer available.

Tried on 3 laptops but the problem persists. Never thought of changing my usb cable though. I'll give it a shot
Btw, is there anyway to use an external SD card to force a factory reset?

Have you considered the possibility that your power button is sticking? Not the part that you touch but the hardware switch behind it?
Do you have USB debugging enabled?
Are you using the stock cable or at least a USB cable with the same number of pins/pinouts?

[HELP] USB-MTP no longer working on S4 i9505 but ODIN 3.09 works fine

Hi guys !
I'm having a strange issue with my S4 i9505. It was running lollipop 5.0.1 Imperium Rom V5.0 (XXUHOD7) and it stopped prompting for MTP-USB notification in notification panel. When i connect the phone, it says me it is charging. I'm using windows 8.1 pro x64 + Genuine Samsung USB cable (which came with the phone) between my S4 and the PC.
Then i tried dialing *#0808# in phone app and choose MTP+ADB in USB connection option when the phone was connected to the computer. Nothing happened even if i tried other USB modes (like MTP, Rndis, PTP...). USB internet sharing didn't work either. Changing USB cables and USB ports on the pc didn't change anything either
So i did a factory reset under Philz CWM recovery and flashed an updated version of Imperium Rom v14.0.
USB-MTP was still not working even with *#0808# trick.
So i decided to install Samsung drivers and try a complete stock flash with XXUHOF2 Firmware from Sammobile.com with ODIN v3.09. When the phone was into Download Mode, I connected it via USB and it showed up on ODIN with no problem and then I flashed XXUHOF2 Stock firmware with no errors and no problems at all. The phone rebooted normally and the PASS message appeard in ODIN after ~10 mins.
But the problem still remains, even if flashing a full up to date stock rom with Modem/BL/System + factory reset. The phone still doesn't show into windows as MTP device even with *#0808#.
So i'm wondering if my USB connector is faulty ? Is it possible to be able to flash through ODIN with no problem and not being able to have MTP USB connection ?
I think ODIN flashes phones using Data +/- pins on the USB connector just as MTP do, so they might be good on my S4. May i be wrong ? Is it possible there is an electronic chip behind USB connector of my phone which is misbehaving preventing MTP to work but allowing ODIN to work ?
Do you guys have an explanation of this and do you think replacing USB connector of my S4 would solve the problem ?
I hope my explanations are good and you can help me

Try disabling and enabling USB debugging while the phone is connected.
