There are two guides : in the 1st one you dont lose your IMEI number BUT you have to use only the specified firmware.
In the second i.e. the alternative guide you can use any firmware from any region and regain your IMEI. The choice is yours!
1st guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/i9500-easy-to-downgrade-official-t3036258
2nd guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/i9500-easy-to-downgrade-official-t3036258/page7
All the best.

Or try a custom lollipop rom.

[Q] [Request]Unlocking Motrola Defy (MB525)

Hello everybody
i'm a new user in this forum ,but i usually follow your new threads (about my phone).
after getting my Motorola defy (mb525) ,i was unable to unlock it but thanks to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483297) ,i unlocked it successfully and i'm enjoying it BUT!!!
in that thread i read that it works only with this base-band version "EPU93_U_00.59.01",so i say no problem with that i need only to receive calls and sms from my partners
but after getting deeper in application and android's system ,i found that i need to upgrade my device to a higher android system ... In my first steps i was unable to unlock my device due to the higher system android that shows me a different version of base-band that is not compatible with the guide below,so i downgraded my device to android 2.3...my question is:
is there any trick that gives me the possibility to ''save'' my unlocking files or file?! and upgrade my device to another android's version without doing the same job!!!!,is this device can be only unlocked if it has the old system of android ??...
i'm waiting for your answers ,Thank you for your support

It is a topic about this problem. Read it. On the short: you must change the baseband even if you use KiteKat (CM11) ROMs.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483297&page=52
AFTER you flash the baseband changer. I use it and it work with PA beta2.
thank you pgreed
i wll give that a try ,can you give me what should i do in steps (1 2 3...) ,don't give me details just to begin .
because i tried to flash this zip calles from recovery (base-band switcher ) in different ROMs and i couldn't!!!

Wait for the official Lollipop at your region.
You can download it from www.sammobile.com/firmwares if you know how to flash your device with Odin.
Thanks you for the answer

take the opportunity to go for a custom rom, you'll most probably never want to miss that again. that's how you can make your phone function the way you like, much faster and with much better battery life etc. i did that once many years ago and never had my phone unrooted stock for longer than half a day from unpacking it
Thanks you for the answer

no custom Rom for M9+ plus ?

i actually tried to find it under m9 developers section but there is nothing so i guess the only place for M9+ is (m9+ general ) but there is nothing here i could find so if there is really no custom rom for M9+ so why i need to unlock the boot loader (which i did) or root the device ?
no one knows ?!!
I guess it is just bit too early for having a lot of options. There is one custom ROM atm that is in fact just a crutch for those who have imported phone with no support for EU languages.
Unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with it... especialy rooting...
But for example I had to get S-OFF to change the internal CID identification so that the phone things it was made for EU and download EU based OTA updates. And for S-OFF you need to unlock and root the device first anyway.
Maybe it is just because all the people are waiting for Marshmallow update and they are generaly satisfied by HTC software?

a.s.j thanks for ur replay i think im waiting too for marshmallow hope it comes soon i have the Taiwan version and thanks again
We have CleanSlate
Apart from CleanSlate which is an improvement, we don't have anything else like AOSP which would be a good framework for further development. Hopefully some devs will pick up our phone.
CM13 is supported on the M8 and M9 so it may be possible to port it to ours in the future

Does base version matter when downgrading?

Hi guys, sorry if this is a super silly question but I haven't been in the rooting game since 2007 and lost touch with a lot of things.
I have a note 4 SM-N910H with base version N910HXXU1DPC1.
Trying to downgrade because of all the issues with 6.1. Don't mind if it's official or custom rom (provided it's a super stable release). Thing is, I can't find a rom with the same base version number.
Question is, does it matter or can I just go by the model number alone?
If someone could point me to the correct links I'd very much appreciate it.
Thanks

I dont think in 2007 android phone was even exist.BTW which phone ware you rooting in that period LOL
XDA Stellar on O2, HTC Touch and a Mio PDA to run apps that it wasn't supposed to run.
Android launch is not when people started the rooting game.
Although you make me feel old now
