Firefox OS for Android One (a.k.a. Sprout) - Firefox OS General

Firefox OS for Android One (Sprout) Phones
Anyone built already a flashable .zip file or .img files for Android One (Sprout) smartphones? Anyone can upload the latest version here? I'm not of a techy type of person but it seems like a lot of Android One users are looking for an easy installable ROM for their Android phones. Like this for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/flashable-firefox-os-rom-android-one-t3160682
I found this link: https://github.com/b2g-sprout/ however a lot of them are not technically enough and even I don't even know what to do with these files even though I have already tried using Firefox's instructions and some other articles on the Web about Porting FFOS. Full instructions on how to build Firefox OS from the files on the given link would also be appreciated. And also an example on how to update them for the latest version. Thanks for all willing to help...

So, you want to have a SIS file turned into a CAB file?
Humm, that's not gonna be an easy task since I can't remember the last time someone was able to take the guts of a Symbian file and make it into the guts for a Windows Mobile file.
I have seen sis to jar before, but it's the sama java platform, don't know about sis to exe or cab yes....
Yes something like that I have been reading about turning SIS to CAB but I really don't have the expertice to do a thing like that but maybe reading this can help becuse Adobe have forget us and they are developing only for nokia and iphone... and a big part of the webpage now days have at leat a flash menu...
Thats Impossible
heY sis to cab is n0t possible due to the fact the files contained in the symbian installation file are ment to run on the symbian os not windows mobile.
in the sis they is probebly an .app and .aif and .rsc n mayb a .dll . Whilst in the cab youve got an .exe n .dll but the .dll 4 symbian n win mobile differ they totally different.
So what you should be sayin is extract sis and port the files to winmobile
Thanks for the info I didin't know that but If porting it to windows mobile is posible will be a good thing to have... As I say I'm not a Programmer I'm Just a Graphic Designer with some basic Knowlage of Java scripting HML, Action Script and some basics of Visual Basic... but I notice that Adobe Have fogot form where they came from in terms of Macromedia and What people now days needs becuse flash is averyware and the flash lite is no uptoday becuse of an old flash player...
Depending on the architecture you may be able to use some of the engine, but the UI/API would have to be completely re-written. Yes, it's much easier to port it to J2ME/Java, but then you would need to run Java to run flash & that's not gonna be an efficeint process. Besides that fact, with this type of app I doubt that the engine is seperated from the UI meaning ALL OF THE EXISTING CODE IS USELESS.
Unfortunately, Adobe currently has NO plans on making FL3 for windows mobile. I posted an exchange I had with Adobe here some time back. I doubt they will ever do it because you now have MS working on their own "Flash-like" app/content in silverlight mobile.
I have looked into this issue on several occasions & you'll see similar posts to this if you search, some of them from me. Not getting the answer I wanted, I did a butt load of reading & came to find; "MUCH easier said than done".

*OUT NOW* DRIOD/EVO/HERO/MOMENT Android ROM Kitchen

HERE IT IS
INFO
Now what does this do. Well people we all hate having to re install our apps when we do new roms. We hate having to using programs like astro it back up and restore well this does it all for us.
How to use is simple place the applications you want in the APPS folder
Place the un zipped rom you want to install the system folder
Run the batch file and it will add the apps where its needed.
If it asked to hit a key click D and A when needed.
Zip up the 2 folders in YOUR-ROM and flash the rom if you get errors try re-zipping the rom again and install.
Future updates i want is this.
GUI screen
Ways to get updated roms that will download for people so they dont need to do anything but select like the online rom maker.
I will be getting this a lot better once I get more free time it only took me about an hour to get everything set up. It will be better soon.
I want to thank jombeewoof for the updated kitchen.

HELP
Ok android guys I am over at SDX since I'm a moment guy but I have been really wanting to have a Android Kitchen just like we have for windows BuildOS. Looking at a few roms for the hero, moment, evo, and droid to me its looking like its the same basic set up for all roms.
My friend and I have been making a CLI kitchen but we would like to have a GUI screen like BuildOS.
So Im asking for some help with coders to help make this.
How we have it set up right now is.
One folder for the ROM you want
Another folder for all the apps you want in it.
if you want a custom kernel.
then it will make all the required files and ZIP everything up.
then you can flash it in recovery.
I want people to select what device they have
what apps they want
if they like a rom all the roms to that phone. that are updated every week.
Im willing to go around looking for roms for the phones if people can help me get this program up and running.
Can some people help? I want this to be a great as Build OS for use android people.
I'd like to have the app coded in html so that as the roms update it is a super easy fix. I have a folder on my web site with a lot of APKs that I can get links to also free apps no paid. And Im willing to even download even more if needed. Please help I want this to be the greatest kitchen ever.
First of all thanks for your hard work, I'd really like to see a kitchen like the Ervius Visual Kitchen for Android.
I'm no programmer, but if you need any help testing our whatever just let me know.
Regards

That looks like a good start! Very similar to the EVKitchen for WM. I did notice though that in your how to section on the first post it says to place the ROM you want to flash into the system folder, but there is no system folder that I can see in version 0.1.5
I have APPS, OLD-ROM, KERNEL, and YOUR-ROM. No system folder in the kitchen.
if you extract your rom you want there will be a meta-inf folder and a system folder take the system folder and place it in the old-rom folder. I just added a new version of the kitchen to have my friend look at and if so then you should be able to select a droid with a few roms and a evo option also with some roms. i will be updating more as i find direct links to rom not on sites like rapid share or mediafire places.

At this time im going to just focus on samsung phones since im not getting a lot of help from any one but samsung people. Once i get done with the samsung part depending on what i have option wise ill do droid or htc.
If you can code it would help me a lot as there are only 2 people and we really want this.
hope i can get this set up
I can't code to save my life, but I have a samsung phone (captivate) and volunteer for a tester if needed. Would love to have this.
Evo people are very helpful and they just put up an online based kitchen this could be helpful to that cause
ya i saw joey's kitchen go up about 2days ago. im trying to get him to help with a few things.
we did get the moment all set up now its just time to work on other phones. so for the next little bit to day i will be getting download links for a few more phones and add then to it. if you can help post up download links to roms. mediafire type sites some times have issues so if the rom uses it some times the rom wont download.
Ok so I was able to get some EVO/Droid/HERO roms/radios in this kitchen still would like to have a GUI screen but for now this will work. Uping tonight should have it out for tomorrow reason it takes so long is because im in the middle of the ocean on deployment.
just a question. can i add apps to automatically be installed into the ext partition with apps2sd
not at this time. thats going to be in the near future. we are trying to get a base of a few phones then start working on others
alright, thats still brilliant. keep up the good job guys!
Ok every one its out try it now.

[Q] Android ROM Development Help

To answer the question that everyone is thinking as they click on this thread... Yes, I am a noob.
Anyway, I downloaded the Android Kitchen and installed it on a Linux Ubuntu Virtual Machine on my Macbook using VMWare Fusion and i watched a video from theunlockr, but all it really let me do was add in apps, change the rom name and give it a few features but no visual customizations... If i posted a link of the "My ROM" no one would be able to tell a difference in the rom i planned on starting from.
Let me know if there is a different way to create that is actually making ROMs or customizing the ROM in it's entirety instead of small unnoticeable features, let me know if I'm just doing something wrong in my Android Kitchen and let me know if theres an easy way to develop ROMs on Mac without Virtual Machines. (The last one isn't a big worry because linux is very lightweight and runs fine on my computer but please help me on the other two questions)
Thanks in advance,
AdamFerg

[MOD][x86][ARM] Genymotion ARM Translation support

Thread is dead. Files are no more available and won't be any more.
Code:
Hello XDA!
I recently installed Genymotion on my PC with Windows because I needed to use CamScanner to present some work in college.
[I]Note that I have no physical device and I can not buy one. [/I]
Before, I had installed Android x86 in VirtualBox but when you open a JPEG in CamScanner it immediately crashes.
As a fairly common phrase where I live says: [B]Necessity is the mother of invention[/B].
I installed the Genymotion ARM Translation found in this thread: [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528952[/url]
but it did not work at all, CamScanner and other apps closed immediately.
So I decided to do something and did a recompilation of functional ARM libraries, now CamScanner works great along with the rest of gapps.
So I share my find on XDA:
This YouTube video proof how it works: [B]Video was reported and taken down from YouTube.[/B]
In the video's description you'll find the URL for downloading the file using Google Drive. [I]Because of the reported video (without reason), the links are lost, my Google Drive is empty and all versions of this are lost forever.[/I]
This flashable ZIP makes work the apps I need, these are the list of apps that closed I've tried and work:
CamScanner, Netflix, Derby Highway, Chrome Remote Desktop (partially works), Hangouts, Voice Search.
Please: Note that the file is compressed using the 7-zip format. There is no Android device that can flash a 7-zip file, that includes GenyMotion. In that 7-zip file you'll find 2 files, one a text file which contains the SHA sums for the file and other zip file. That zip file, "libhoudini.zip" is the flashable file. That means, you MUST have to uncompress the 7-zip file in order to access to the zip flashable file.
The specs of my virtual machine:
Android: Android 4.4.4 KitKat
Genymotion: 2.3.0
Virtualbox: 4.3.16
Host Operating System: Windows 8.1 64bit
The rest of this thread is to report what work and what doesn't work. For best results, use this example as a basis:
[CODE]1. CamScanner: Working. Android 4.4.4, 2.3.0 Genymotion, Virtualbox 4.3.16, Host: Windows 8.1 64bit Intel.
2. Chrome Remote Desktop: partially works (crash on the fly). Android 4.4.4, 2.3.0 Genymotion, Virtualbox 4.3.16, Host: Windows 8.1 64bit Intel.
3. Game Of War: partially works (crash in 1st screen). Android 4.4.4, 2.3.0 Genymotion, Virtualbox 4.3.16, Host: Windows 8.1 64bit Intel.
If it worked for you, press the thanks button (follow the rules). This thread is NOT dedicated to Genymotion problems (for example Drag and drop does not work, player.exe crashes, etc.).
Any suggestions are welcome.[/CODE]
can someone confirm how to make "Game of War" work on genymotion ??
I tried installing Arm 1.1 and Gapps, tweaking the Vbox and what not... nothing helps the app just starts and closes a few seconds later.
Well, this one works better with gapps than the one I found on github. Still couldn't get Age of Ishtaria to work though, logcat reports "Unsupported feature (ID:0x1140001a)." for houdini now, rather than the segfault it was getting with the other version. Using linux geny 2.3.0 with 4.4.4.
hey dude,
so your a super intelligent guy and you managed to fix genymotion to run some apps, but can you make Game of War to work too ?
that would be amazing !
Keep us posted on your great job
Good attempt at fixing the issue - I have tried every OS available with Genymotion and the issue has not been resolved. What all of these OSes have in common is the same Google Play appstore version, eventually, after the updates, so I wonder if that is the culprit. Perhaps we could find a way to run an older version of the appstore without it updating....I am just not sure.
were is the download i would like to try it!
You didn't trust me even with the checksums, great. But reporting the YouTube video was not needed (happen long time ago, I personally taken down the video on the report and didn't mind it till today, when I found a new answer to this thread).
Actually, I don't understand, I didn't wanted anything but share something that may help you (and actually, this helped some people), that was not fair. If some mod read this, please close this thread immediately. If you keep a copy of the 7-zip, you can do whatever you want but please don't even mention me.
However, I have to say that I found how and where Genymotion found it's libraries, and I though it would be nice to keep them update. But you didn't wanted it and I understand. Please, don't ask me about this, I will never make a mistake like this again in XDA. I have a real life and a reputation to keep clean, this didn't help me with it.
